The Beast and the Man Empty The Beast and the Man

Post by Deshitana 28th September 2018, 4:23 am

Deshitana was born on a cold winter day in the small village of Mysteria to his parents Oliva and Alexander. When he was born, he had upon him an eye like mark upon his forehead which marked him as the next person that would be a vessel to the villages dark secret – the Beast. Seeing their child marked, the couple had no choice but give the child to the elder who in turn took the baby far out into the forest to a hut where the current Vessel of the Beast was. Handing the child over to the woman, the elder would leave the care and raising of the child to the woman. And raised him she did.

Deshi’s childhood was nothing short of torture. Everyday he was subjected to harsh training that broke his body many times; however, by some miracle he was able to recover each time. The training was used to make his body and mind strong, so when the day the transfer of the Beast came, he would be ready for it. Deshi lived like this for 9 years of his life before the training was stopped and he was subjected to a new sort of pain. Upon his skin, the woman engraved many tattoos infused with magic that she said was to protect him in the days to come, she engraved these painful tattoos upon him for a year before stopping and giving the exhausted child a rest. During the rest period, the woman taught Deshi about the Beast.

The Beast use to be a creature that roamed the land said to be a god of some sort to a land that no longer existed. This god was supposed to watch the land it walked upon, but instead took to destroying it and causing misery for the people. For years, the Beast ran wild until one day its body was slain by a young knight wielding a mythical blade said to be blessed by the goddess of the land who sought to protect it and her children.

With no body left, the spirit of the Beast was captured and then sealed within a human vessel who would then be marked with a third eye upon their body. This eye would remain as a warning sign to those around the person of what creature was inside of the host.

With the Beast inside of another, most hosts were quickly driven to madness as the upset creature sought its freedom and thus fought against whatever body it was put into. The hosts of the Beast became dangerous, so the people began isolating the Vessels of the Beast to the out skirts of the land where they could hurt no one. This tradition was carried with the people for many years and was passed to down to the children of Mysteria, the last of the race that captured and sealed the Beast many years ago.

After learning about the Beast’s back story, the current Vessel of the Beast told Deshi that his fate was a cursed one, but one he should bear with honor as he was protecting the village and the world from the Beast’s Wrath. With his history lesson completed, the current Vessel allowed the child one day of freedom to enjoy the world for the next day, the transfer would occur.

While Deshi did his best to try to relax and enjoy his free time, the child worried greatly what would happen if he was infused with the creature. Scared and not wanting to lose himself, he tried to escape the area, but didn’t get far before the Vessel caught him and brought him back to the hut where he was locked up for the rest of the day. That night the child would not sleep as he instead mourned what he was about to lose once the Beast was within him.

The next day as promised the Vessel of the Beast tied the child down to a table and then using a strange ritual transferred the Beast into the child before passing away from the separation. The process was painful and almost drove the child mad as the Beast entered his system and immediately started to try to take over; however, the child wouldn’t let it and fought with it for days before the creature finally gave up and became quiet.

Exhausted from the battle, the child managed to get himself free from the table, but instead of staying at the hut to wait for the next poor soul to come, he instead plotted his escape and left the hut to seek a way to be rid of the Beast once and for all. He started his journey at the age of ten and struggled through life to survive until he was picked up by a mercenary who trained the child in the ways of hunting and performing jobs for others. He made Deshi strong again and any time the Beast reared its head to try and harm or destroy others, the mercenary was at Deshi’s side telling him to fight it and resist. It was this training and support that gave Deshi the strong will he has today and only enforced his desire to be rid of the Beast once and for all.

This is the path the mercenary has traveled along for the last 13 years of his life, but still has yet to find a way to gain his freedom from the beast.
