Job Title: Desert Discovery Part 3

    Rank: S

Player Requirements: Must be S-rank or equivalent. Must be a member of Silver Wolf. Up to 4 Members. Must have completed Desert Discovery Part 2.

Job Requirements:17,000 words + 3000 words for each extra team member. Must defeat at least five (5) mobs. Must defeat boss to complete the job.

    Job Location: Forbidden Desert

Job Description: After Silver Wolf’s defeat of the bandits, Rhode’s excavation team returned to the site. They unearthed an entrance that was hitherto buried beneath the sand and a team was sent in to explore the ruins, but they ran into trouble and only one of the dozen-man team survived to report his findings. He reported encountering unnatural creatures like mummies with the heads of crocodiles and lions. Mummified human soldiers bearing swords and shields were also encountered. Furthermore, a jackal-headed creature was spotted, but the man fled before he could ascertain whether it controlled the others or it was only another rank-and-file member of the undead army.

Silver Wolf has been tasked with defeating the creatures inside the ruins and discovering any treasure within. But be careful! The enemies are no thoughtless undead. They move and attack with unnatural intelligence.

    Hints:

Most weapons inflict damage to the creatures, but fire does double damage to them. Flame weapons and magic are the swiftest way to defeat them. However, caution is advised because flaming mummies may attempt to grapple the caster or their teammates to share the pain!

Earth and Sand magic weapons and spells heal the mummies instead of doing harm.

Holy weapons and magic do full damage and also slow their movement for one post.

    Enemies:

Weak: Mummified Soldiers x8- These human soldiers are mummified but wear armor and carry swords and shields. They are low-ranking soldiers, but that does not mean that they are not dangerous. Their shields can block one A-ranked strike per post. Their shields can be used to bash opponents for ½ A-ranked damage and stagger them. Their swords deal A-ranked damage per hit. It takes one S-ranked damage to defeat them.

Normal: Koseb x4- This crocodile-headed being has bandages wrapped around its torso and legs and is a mid-ranked soldier in the undead army. It wields a golden axe that it uses to chop at opponents. Each hit does S-ranked damage. It can also bite opponents for 1.5 S-ranked damage. It takes two S-ranked hits to defeat.

Strong: Keshtem x2- This lion-headed being has bandages wrapped around its torso and is an elite soldier in the undead army. It wields a golden kopesh and tends to pounce on opponents. Its pounce does A-ranked damage and its kopesh does 1.5 S-ranked damage per hit. It can also bite opponents for 2 S-ranked damage. It takes 5 S-ranked hits to defeat.

Boss: Buanis- This jackal-headed being is the master of the undead army. In addition to commanding the existing undead, he can summon new soldiers to his side once every three posts. He tends to favor summoning a pair of Keshtems, but he can call forth any mob on the Enemies list. Buanis wields a golden staff with a jackal head that has sapphires for eyes. A hit does 2x S-ranked damage. It takes 16 S-ranked hits to defeat the boss.

Unlike with his warriors, Fire does not do extra damage to Buanis. Earth and Sand Magic and weapons still heal him. Holy magic does half its ranked damage and does not slow him down. However, he does have one glaring weakness.

Should the team manage to find the Staff of Orhus, a relic belonging to Buanis’ ancient arch-nemesis, it can be used to make the boss battle easier. It is a golden staff with the head of a falcon with emeralds for eyes. One party member can use it to either negate one summon (ex. Reduce a summon of two Keshtems to one Keshtem) per three posts or use it as a melee weapon to deal 2x S-ranked damage to Buanis upon a hit. However, the Staff of Orhus cannot be kept. Once Buanis is defeated, the staff disappears because the entity who created it wishes to preserve it for humanity in case the jackal ever rises again.

Reward: S-Rank Experience and choice of either 100k jewels OR 50k jewels and Custom Legendary Item. Players must declare what reward they want when they finish the job, or it is assumed they want the 100k jewels.
