Kyran was amazed by his companions' abilities. They were making quick work of the infected animals and from Kyran's point of view, easily doing so. He attributed the strange noises and the sudden capture of a few of their foes to Advent. The kid's magic was amazing. The village changing was most impressive. He made a mental note to ask the kid about it later. Right now, it looked as if Adalinda needed his help.
Kyran drew a deep breath as he pulled back on Last Sight. In quick succession, he fired off a stream of four arrows. They were meant to hit the chickens. Kyran had pulled upon everything Sophia had taught him about hunting. Yet two of the arrows missed. Somehow the chickens dodged the attack entirely. Kyran frowned, lowering Last Sight. Were the creatures all connected by the fungus? He couldn't be sure. Now that he was down to twelve arrows, he didn't want to test his theory either.
Kyran couldn't help but feel as if he was accomplishing nothing. Of the bodies on the ground, only a few must be his. He was only using a bow and arrow where his companions were using magic. Plus, if the animals were somehow connected and getting smarter, shooting them wouldn't work much longer. Kyran set Last Sight aside. Time to switch things up. An idea was beginning to form within his head. Adalinda and Advent were strong. They could control him if he lost it. He drew out Black Flower's Thorn. This seemed the best way to protect the village. The horde of animals against them didn't leave many other options. Wishing he had a better plan, Kyran scrambled off the roof.
"Adalinda! Here! Come towards me and Advent!" Kyran shouted trying to get the three of them into the same area. Kyran would have less of a chance of hurting anyone if Advent and Adalinda were defending each other. A pig rammed him in the side as he watched for Adalinda's approach. Cursing, Kyran severed its spinal cord with a sweep of his sword.
Forget the girl. Let me out! Unleash my power!! As the last remaining chickens dove at his head, Kyran felt inclined to believe it. Tactically, it was the best plan provided Kyran found a way to control it. It would remove the most obstacles with the least effort. One of the chickens stabbed his hand as he sliced off the other chicken's head. Kyran felt he couldn't wait. He hoped Adalinda was behind him by now.
"Damn it! Advent! Adalinda! 60 seconds! Don't come near me! I can't control it! Keep everyone else back! Kyran shouted. He batted the last chicken away and sank his teeth into the wound on the back of his hand. Power infused into his body the moment his blood hit the back of his throat. Black Flower's Thorn fell to the ground, forgotten. He wouldn't need it in a moment.
NO!! Drink their blood!! The demon shrieked. Their consciousness' fought as the changes swept over Kyran's body.
His eyes burned, changing from bright blue into demonic red. Black leeched into his whites until it was all that remained. Kyran threw back his head to howl. Brown-black fur sprouted over the entirety of his body. His limbs lengthened. His hands lost their fingernails, instead growing blunt black claws. His legs snapped as they changed shape, adding a second knee. His feet became large paws, ripping free of his boots. Kyran fell forward. Pain rippled through his body as it changed. His face lost all semblance of humanity, morphing into the short snout of a dog. A second later, Kyran grew a tail. His transformation was complete. Looking into Kyran's eyes would only reveal a complete lack of intelligence. There was only bloodlust.
Kyran released a second howl, head back, mouth frothing. The animals froze. On some instinctual level, they knew a predator had entered the battle field. One they had to get rid of as soon as possible. Still woozy from his transformation, Kyran stumbled as a pig slammed into his legs. The chicken attacked his chest as if trying to dig out his heart. A second pig slammed into his legs again. The rest of the animals were converging on Kyran, determined to take him out. They had underestimated him.
Drawing upon the strength and speed now available to him, Kyran closed a massive hand around the chicken. Squeezing drenched him in blood, the chicken reduced to nothing more than a mass of flesh. Kyran tossed away the corpse. His teeth parted in a doggie grin. Nothing was going on in his head but the creature in his place thought this was fun. As the pigs charged to attack again, Kyran moved faster than they. His teeth closed upon the neck of one. A savage jerk broke the spine. He released it quickly to deal with his other opponent. The other pig found Kyran's blunt claws digging into its eyes. It squealed once before Kyran jerked it into the air. There wasn't even any strain as he turned and threw it at the wave of pigs headed his way. The creature that had been Kyran snarled happily. Blood would become a wave in this town. Red would become the sunrise.
