Sigurd had been at the inn for quite some time, and as per his normal attitude, had been rather quiet since he and his newfound comrade, Gangting, King of Duoshang, arrived to celebrate their success during a job that they had ended up going on together. Though Sigurd was not the type to carouse, especially not whilst in his shadowy, “Darknight” persona, there was another reason for his notable silence at that moment. During this particular outing, the summoning mage had felt something well up deep within him during combat. It was as if he was becoming significantly stronger. Though since he had begun taking jobs as a mage he had been practicing and honing his combat skills, this feeling was something different. He had initially brushed it off as a burst of adrenaline, but since they had rested, he could no longer dismiss it. As his magic refilled itself with his food and drink, he had been prepared for it to reach maximum capacity about half an hour before the current time. Instead, it continued to rise, until it felt like he was nearly twice as powerful as before. Not just in terms of his magic capability, but also in reference to his physical state, he felt completely and significantly superior to how he had just a day before. Perplexed by this newfound strength, Sigurd was deep in thought, barely touching his mead, trying to figure out what it was that had spurred this change within his body. He had been paying very little attention to his friend, despite the fact that he was sitting next to him in the bar, and had zero clue what the earth slayer had been going on about, or even if he was speaking at all. Realizing how rude he must have seemed, he snapped back to reality, hoping that the red-haired giant had not noticed his spaciness.

As he was about to ask the King of Duoshang to repeat what it was that he had just said, Sigurd noted a peculiar looking job post on the bulletin board next to the bar. Squinting his eyes he noticed an official seal from the Magic Council.

Turning to his friend he quickly spoke, “One moment, Gangting, do you see that bulletin?” pointing at the piece of paper in question, and beginning to stand. Walking over, he pulled it from the wall and began to read. It seemed as though there was some kind of monster infestation going on in a place called Fat Monsterland, and that they were in desperate need of mages willing to participate in the eradication of said creatures, with special rewards for those who participated particularly prominently. All at once, Sigurd took note of the many bounties this opportunity could provide. Chiefly, doing a job for the Magic Council would generate immediate payoff in terms of Sigurd’s renown amongst the government of Fiore. Aside from that, Sigurd noted that he could finally have a chance to test out this newfound strength that he was suddenly brimming with. On the other hand, if the Magic Council sent out a public distress signal to all mages willing to help, then the strength of the monsters was most likely equitable. Even given Gangting’s massive strength, and his own newfound potential, Sigurd was wary of charging straight into battle. “What are your thoughts?” he said through the skull-shaped helmet he still wore, completely obscuring his face.

The mysterious Darknight and Gangting had fought in the mine’s underneath the capital of Fiore, defeating a dangerous lunatic whom was overly fond of explosive’s. It was a wonder that the whole mine didn’t collapse by all that force, half the city would have come crashing down if it did. Though Gangting could have created pillars to support the roof of the mine to prevent it if it did. Darknight and Gangting brought the villain in question to the Runeknights and they got paid for their part of the job. It was customary for Gangting to drink a toast on that, though it was for Gangting always time to have a few cups of golden mead or crimson red. The inn was so crowded so Gangting gave everyone around from his own jewels-satchel, which was on a point of almost bursting after the pay-out. They were the only one to sit at the bar, the other patrons of the inn seemed to prefer the benches and the tables. A musician was singing a song and drank that evening for free, which didn’t do anything good to the songs. But no one seemed to mind it, they all had too much to drink.
Gangting took of his crimson fur-trimmed cloak and hang it next to him on a chair. The fire blazed hot in the hearth and in the kitchen, where a chicken was being roasted for him and his companion. He thought back to the fighting in the mines, Darknight had stayed true to his word. The man clad in dark armour could indeed handle his own in a fight with his sword to Gangting’s surprise. His encounter with Ruvel had made him doubt the physical abilities of summoners but Darknight changed his opinion as snow melting underneath the sun. Darknight himself was a silent and Gangting decided to fill it with tales of his past, and not only those of himself.
Darknight interrupted him half way the story of Darú Stonebeast. Darknight grabbed a piece of paper from a board and started to read it. After he finished he ask Gangting what his thought where, “Well, this writing system is difficult.” Replied Gangting with a sharp voice and looked away, “I can’t read this remember.” He short silence followed, “But I recognize the seal of the Magic Council, I’m in.” Said Gangting with a grin on his face. “What do we need to do?”

The inn was packed with many grand adventurers, their weapons either leaning against their tables or sprawled upon the floor, ruckus arising from the various tables, all discussing the same thing. Or at least, that’s what the Sabertooth mage had hoped to see. Instead she’d been gravely disappointed upon entering the inn, seeing how the tables had been occupied by what rather seemed to be a bunch of drunk ruffians than actual hunters or warriors of fame. She could hear a bard singing a ballad of epic about a hero long lost, or an attempt to, as his voice seemed to miss his instrument’s guiding tones quite a few times. Seeing the several cups dotting a table close to him enclosed her thoughts, and in all honesty the ravenhaired maiden hoped he would soon switch to instrumental tellings. Yet she knew that would be a very rare thing to happen. The bar only had two seats taken, and upon closer inspection of the ones occupying those seats made her light up a bit, as both did seem to fit her mental picture. Kenna sighed and adjusted the dark armor, lowering the red muffler so she wouldn’t be coming over as a shady person up to no good. As she turned and headed to the bar the giant sword on her back softly clanged against her own armor, putting it down beside her as she took up a barstool somewhat further away from the twosome that’d caught her interest and eyed them in the reflection of her glass as she received the bourbon she’d ordered.

The twosome, both men she realised after shortly listening in on their conversation, were hopefully here for the same thing she was. Kenna, after having helped subdue the first wave of monsters overrunning this area, had taken over the representation of Sabertooth in her guildmaster’s absence, but had found herself unable to find anyone of the party she’d teamed up with the first time; Summer just like Julius had disappeared from the bottom of the earth, and she’d been left without anyone to side with her when the next wave came about. Unable to do this on her own, she’d opted to visit the inns of Fat Monsterland, settling in the one closest to tge current sightings of the marching beasts, in the hope of finding some promising companions to aid her. Though her disappointment had been great upon seeing the ones gathered here at current, the two she currently eyed oh so subtly looked more than promising; hence her uncaught eavesdropping, which she otherwise wouldn't have resorted to. It was only to up her luck that her slaying senses aided in said effort. The tallest one among them was a giant compared to her; sporting an ancient fighting attire of a civilization she had been mostly interested in, his cloak almost hinting some type of royalty or the need to add a bit of flair to his appearance. The red-haired man towered above her even when he was seated, and made his armored companion pale in comparison, although that man too wasn’t to be underestimated… or so she thought. She wasn’t sure, but both seemed to be acquainted and on friendly terms with one another… but where the armored man had a scent about him she couldn’t quite place, the giant man smelled of dirt and ground. Something similar to Mashyuu, yet with a different hints of something… something refreshing.

It was only when the armored man stopped his friend halfway his explanation and mentioned the board with hunting requests that Kenna perked her ears and casually turned herself about 30 degrees to follow his movements. He returned with a parchment and upon both seeing and hearing the mentioning of the magic council sigil did the dragon slayer crack a smile; the skull-helmeted warrior had in the meanwhile revealed his enormous friend’s name to be Gangting, and asked if he would want to take part in this request posed by the Magic Council. She couldn’t help but chuckle as, upon being shown the written request, the large man exclaimed that couldn’t read this script and asked what it was about. The cue for Kenna to interrupt the conversation. Upon Ganting mentioning what it was about, Kenna swept her sword by the handle and placing it back unto its hold on her back she appeared from behind Gangting’s back as if out of nowhere, though there was a chance the armored knight had seen her move towards them, she didn’t know.
”Allow me to crash this private affair and explain. You may or may not have heard of the monsters running amok as of late within Fat Monsterland; the first few waves have been pushed back by a collective of mages and subdued a large portion of these monsters… until recently. Their numbers have spiked again, just as their activity, so another request has been sent out to eliminate them. The reason why I am here, why most of these guys are here, and why you guys are here for now too, it seems.” Kenna ended while pointing at the paper within their hands. ”But where are my manners; Kenna Terrynhain of Sabertooth, here to kick some monster ass and coincidently in search of some seasoned warriors to team up with. Any of you fine gentlemen care to oblige to my request, by any chance, hm?” Her voice sounded slightly playful, but her golden eyes flickered, betraying the seriousness behind her words. The only thing she had to do was wait for them to turn her down, or accept her invitation. She looked at both men, wondering ever so slightly how they’d fare if the were to tag along… but she felt it would be worth the watch.

    OOC:

Sigurd was embarrassed to have forgotten about Gangting’s trouble reading the language of Fiore. Though they hadn’t known each other for all that long, they were still supposed to be close allies, and that was something that Sigurd should most definitely have remembered about the foreign king. He was relieved to hear, however, that his companion was interested in taking the job with him, though still, based on the gravity of the job request, he thought that the two of them would benefit from a little extra manpower… or “womanpower,” as it would seem.

Sigurd’s first impression of Kenna was that she was incredibly confident in her abilities as a mage. As she was a member of the guild Sabertooth, he already looked up to her status as a legal mage, let alone one that was worthy of fighting alongside her guildmaster against the very same opponents that they were now considering doing battle with. She seemed comfortable in her seemingly heavy, intimidating armor, and he could feel some magical pressure coming off her, putting the idea of her potential as a magical fighter squarely in his mind. She certainly fits the bill of what he was looking for in terms of help, plust it seemed as though she knew about this situation already.

He glared at her from behind his frightening helmet, attempting to impress with a similar level of confidence, though he did not expect her to be easily intimidated. He introduced himself, “I am Darknight, Superhero, and Defender of the Void. I’d be honored to take on this mission with you, as I’m sure my friend Gangting would as well,” he nodded towards the giant, “It seems as though you know more about this than either of us do, so would you care to lead the way?”

They had only just set foot in Fat Monsterland. They had been making small talk, and actually, Sigurd was about to ask Kenna a question about being a legal mage when all three of them began to feel a strong magical presence. Sure enough, a bolt of lightning raced towards them. Sigurd rolled out of the way and began running towards its source. The knight of darkness drew his sword and charged towards the monster who had ambushed them… a giant lightning elemental! He attempted to swing, but couldn’t manage to land a solid hit against its fleet footwork. Frustrated, he realized he needed to use one of his summons… someone fast… he outstretched his hand and began to call out the name of his fastest summon, Shinebright, “Come! Defender of…” he felt something come over him as he spoke, “Fields! Plant!” he exclaimed as one of the heroes from his comic book, but not one that he had ever summoned, appeared before him. It was a small green, plant like creature. Immediately it seemed to understand it’s circumstances, and took off at a pace which outdid even Shinebright. In fact, Sigurd could feel his “upgrade” had made him faster than Shinebright, but Plant was a whole ‘nother level. It ran circles around the elemental, occasionally thrusting and kicking the beast. It managed to get in about 3 hits before Sigurd snapped out of his confusion at having made a new summon, and he swung his sword at the now distracted elemental, first cutting at it’s left leg, then its right. Though it didn’t immobilize the creature, as it could regrow, the crackling of the beast began to recede, showing that their attacks were working. Axil stabbed the beast once more, as Plant punched it with his bulb again. However, the lightning monster finally got a hand up on Plant, and struck it, destroying it in one hit. Luckily, the distraction that provided allowed Sigurd to get two more swipes in before he jumped back. Noticing that Gangting was not fighting the elemental alongside himself and Kenna, he turned to see his comrade engaging in a fight with two giant… well, Sigurd himself couldn’t quite come up with a word for them. They were roughly the same size as the elemental, but they seemed to have humanoid bodies. Of course that is if you ignored the draconic head, wings, and tail that accompanied them. One of the Half-Dragon Giants had jet black skin on his giant bits, while his draconic elements were a deep purple. The other had a deep, navy tinge to his skin, but had black scales studding his reptilian features. It seemed that Gangting was managing to occupy both of them, but Sigurd figured two against one was less than a fair fight.

He shouted over at Kenna, “Take care of the elemental, I’m going to help Gangting,” and thundered off, not noticing the elemental beginning to dissipate in an act of retreat.

As he reached his earth slayer friend, he was in the depths of combat against the two scaly titans. Sigurd charged forward towards the black scaled dragon man, but was swept aside by the purple dragon giant’s tail, who had noticed him trying to ambush his comrade. It was then that he noticed the neon green smile of the purple dragon, the very same which then blew a noxious gas at the summoner. “Come, Wall, Defender of the Earth!” he managed to get out before he was hit. Wall activated her defenses, and both the summon and the earthen wall were completely overtaken by the green vapors. When the smoke cleared, the wall had been completely melted, and Wall was heavily damaged. Realizing he needed to capitalize on what was left of her endurance, he charged forward, telepathically communicating an attack plan to her. He leaped forward, landing on her arms, and being thrown up, as the purple dragon’s tail swished by, finishing off his summon, dissipating her into a shining mist. Her efforts were executed flawlessly, however, and the dark knight had landed on the shoulders of the poison dragon. He flipped his sword, and plunged it into the shoulder of the beast, causing it to stumble around in pain. Alright, he thought, time to see what other new tricks I’ve learned.

He pointed the ground by Gangting and spoke instinctively, “Come, Nautilus, Defender of the Seas!” The man that emerged was shorter than many of his other heroes, but Sigurd felt from his presence that he was much stronger. He raised the gun he carried and fired a concentrated blast of water into the mouth of the black dragon man, causing him to stagger, as he had supposedly been preparing a breath based attack, before he turned and charged at the shin of the purple dragon, tackling him hard. The giant stumbled, and Sigurd managed to plunge his sword into its shoulder two more times before its twisting and turning threw him off, onto the ground. Nautilus however, struck his foot with the butt of his gun. Sigurd figured that was enough damage against the purple one, and turned to the black dragon.

Nautilus had already done some magical damage with his water blast, and the black dragon’s breath attack seemed to be stunted, giving ample time for Sigurd to get in there and stab his shin, before spinning to slice his foot, and then finishing with a cut to the achilles tendon. Nautilus assisted with another brute force tackle to his left leg. With all of this damage to his feet, the dragon giant stumbled and fell, giving an ample opening for Sigurd’s comrades to attack it.

Speaking of which Kenna, who Sigurd assumed had dispatched the elemental, began charging towards them. He remembered that she was a dragon slayer, and figured she wanted a crack at the draconic enemies. Looking to see what potential enemy he could trade off with her for, He noticed a giant skeletal beast, which it seemed she had done some damage to before coming to aid him and Gangting. The beast was massive, and, seeing as though they had already done a number on the dragon giants, Sigurd looked over at Gangting to get his attention, and then at the prehistoric skeletal crocodile. Hoping he got his message, he stormed off, with Nautilus lagging behind. It seemed as though this particular summon was not as fast as his others, but his heavy armor provided a reasonable explanation for that.

As he made it to the scene of the skeletal crocodile, Sigurd was delighted to notice Gangting beginning to engage it alongside him. Together the two of them began whacking away at it’s bones. Sigurd began to strike it directly in the skull with his blade while Nautilus struck it with his fists. After landing two cuts on the monster, with Nautilus providing a third and fourth hit, the beast, despite the laws of nature not permitting it, roared, sending them flying. It then inhaled drawing them towards it. Sigurd grabbed onto a protruding rock formation and managed to avoid being swallowed, but Nautilus was dragged in, and was crunched down on a number of times, eventually dissipating into golden mist. Angered that his summons were going down so easily against these enemies, Sigurd joined Gangting in resuming their assault on the beast. Now in a heightened physical state, due to the adrenaline of having lost one of his powerful new comrades, he leaped forward, running down the length of the beast, and landing slashes. He landed about 10 by the time he had ran over the skull, and finally stabbed the top of it’s spinal cord. As the monster was battered with injuries from both Kenna and Gangting it began collapsing into a pile of bones, utterly defeated by the team of mages.

All of a sudden, the lightning elemental reappeared, desperate, and on it’s last leg, but seemingly hoping to deal some damage, attacked Gangting. Though Sigurd wanted to help him, a much bigger problem dropped in from the sky. A giant, menacing Gryphon Lord dropped down, ready to destroy the team of mages where they stood. Sigurd looked at Kenna, who, having defeated the two Dragon Giants, seemed to be open to taking down this “boss” of a monster. He charged forward, weapon drawn.

He slashed into the flesh of the beast at it’s ankles twice before being thrown back by a powerful kick. Sigurd landed on his feet, just barely and made his way back, stabbing his opponent another two times before strategically jumping back to avoid another kick. The last one really did a number to him, and he needed to be more careful. He could feel one more new summon in him, and as he landed a fifth hit on the monster, called forth, “Rebel, Defender of the Dark.” The new summon radiated demonic energy, and towered over the summoner. He felt out what abilities he had, and then grabbed onto his body, commanding him to grapple onto the Gryphon with his claws. The demon man obliged, doing a 6th hit of damage, and lodging his stretchy arms into a gap in the golden war gear donned by the flying terror. Just as he retracted, bringing Sigurd up onto the back of the beast, the Gryphon beat its wings and took off into the air. It became a relief for Sigurd that he was on the back, as he didn’t have that any ranged attacks at his disposal, and he began stabbing the Gryphon wherever he could find exposed feathers and flesh, with his summon doing the same. They had to have hit the beast 20 to 30 times. Though the damage wasn’t entirely significant, they definitely had some impact on the beast as it reacted to their stabbings, but seemingly it could not reach where they were located on its back. Sigurd secure in his place, however, he began to feel the beast turn. As the Gryphon flipped upside down, he realized that it was simply biding time to get high enough that the fall would kill him. By the time he fully grasped what was happening, Sigurd was already falling from a significant height in the air, landing after a few seconds with a thud. Rebel did the same, and completely disintegrated, leaving a bruised and bloody Sigurd on the ground. It seems riding the beast was quite a reckless strategy Sigurd thought, finding his recklessness, which he realized stemmed from his newfound strength, humorous. Kenna, Gangting, it’s up to you now… was his final thought before he passed out from exhaustion and his injuries.

3 Heroes vs The Monster Army!!! Empty Re: 3 Heroes vs The Monster Army!!!

Post by Segodon 24th January 2018, 11:30 am

A woman’s voice interrupted their conversation, Gangting turned to the source where he saw A woman with raven hair, clad in red and black armour. He felt somewhat uneasy, something stirred in him, something that only stirred in the presence of demons. The feeling was faint as if it were a hundred miles away. He shook off the thought and listened to what she had to say and what his companion gave in reply. Naturally, it was his turn to speak but he didn’t, a silence fell. He jumped on his feet, the inn vibrated, he towered above Kenna. “As my companion has announced I’m Gangting, I’m the warrior-king of Duoshang.” He paused, Kenna didn’t seem to shrink, before him which wasn’t what he expected. “I didn’t know woman fight,” Said Gangting scratching his winkers, “I only thought that the divine amazons fought.” He paused again. It was highly uncommon for a woman to bear arms, let alone fight, in the era passed when Gangting was still king. “I’ll accept your companionship.” Said Gangting, who wondered how she would fare in a fight.

A surge of pain brought Gangting to his knees, the light was all around him for a second and after that it faded. His blood seemed to be close to boiling. “By Tudigong’s beard!” Shouted he out but couldn’t hear it. He blinked his eyes until his vision appeared to be normal again. Then his ears started to ring, he saw his companions fight something, something he had never seen before and couldn’t describe. But it was the cause of this sudden pain. The ring in his ears faded slowly as the sounds of battle started to penetrate the beep sound. He shook his head and glimpsed something enormous, he saw it in an instant and the image was blurry. That..[i/] he couldn’t even think properly but he stood up. He drew his sword and mumbled “Earth Demon’s Shield.” A tall towershield grew up out of the ground, on its field was a carved face with a beard. A fearsome projection of Tudigong, Gangting’s primal deity and he who lend him his strength. He grabbed the shields stone straps with his left hand.
He ran, his sight and hearing improved by every step he took. Two.[i/] ran through his mind, the large blur he had seen was, in fact, two enormous beings. Two giants, giants with the heads of large reptile beings. Never before had he seen such things, a moment he wavered. Demons and armies of men were one thing. He had fought a thousand battle’s and survived, with an army at his back or none. He shook away his thoughts and mumpled a small prayer to Tudigong in an ancient tongue, only known to him, after that he bellowed a war cry in the same language “For Tudigong! For Duoshang!”. His soldiers would have shouted his name after Tudigong followed up by Duoshang. Ganting held his shield in front of him, covering most of his body and face. The shield blocked the sight of his eyes, but he could see straight with his earth sense’s, feeling the smallest vibrations in the earth. He had his sword clenched against the side of his shield and charged at the feet of a giant. His sword went through it more easily as expected. He trusted another two more times into the leg before he met any notable resistance, his shield took the beating. Gangting took a few steps back and engaged the other giant. Slashing at his leg twice in a fluent movement, his sword was an extension of his arms. The giant flung his tail on top of Gangting who managed to raise his shield above his head in time for the impact. The corners of the stone shield broke off and a large crack was visible, going straight through Tudigong’s carved face. He threw the shield into the belly of the giant, knowing it wouldn’t have taken another hit.  I should get a spear, thought Gangting who realised that polearms would have been handy in against such large foes. “Earth Demon’s Pillars” Shouted Gangting, who realised that he had something in his arsenal with reach. Three pillars of stone grew out of the ground as snakes, one was for the giant at his back and two went straight for the giant ahead of him. He almost fell over when his sword cut through nothing but air, the giant had been downed by a summon of Darknight who had joined him in the fight. “Thanks!” shouted Gangting, he jumped upon the giant and stabbed into his chest. Gangting looked up at Darknight who seemed to look at him and to a giant walking reptile. Darknight went off to fight it and Kenna joined in the fight against the giants. The giants had taken quite the beating from Darknight and himself, so he decided to fight the walking skeleton.
He shouted, “Earth demon’s Fists” after realising that a sword wouldn’t do much against bone, dust and stone were drawn to his fist like iron to a magnet. His hands were covered with a layer of stone, following it’s every movement. He slammed a sequence of punches against an armoured leg. Creating cracks in the bone of the beast. He had expected that the bones would crack or get lose by his powerful punches. He stepped back to and inhaled dust and stone from his surrounding, “Earth Demon’s Greater Bellow!” Shouted Gangting, spew out eight stone slabs. Five of them damaged the bones of the undead creature while the other three flew off. He jumped back to the beast and started beating down again on the leg, while avoiding the tail of the beast. The tail wept again at him, Gangting grabbed the tail and managed to break a piece of it.
A surge of pain went through Gangting’s body, “Is that thing still alive!” He shouted in anger and agony. Blinded and deaf he ran towards the construct that he felled through the vibrations in the ground. “Earth Demon’s Battering Ram!” he bellowed, he only heard a ring in his ears. He swung the giant storm ram on his right arm against the construct. Sending the construct flying for a few feet. The ram itself crumbled to smithereens by the sheer force. He turned berserk against his foe. He jumped on top of the giant construct and kept beating down upon it. Again, and again he hammered onto the shell of the construct. Every hit formed a crack, and every hit after that made the cracks grow in size. It was covered in cracks on every inch after a dozen of hits. “Earth Demon’s Spiked Fist!” Shouted Gangting and a stone gauntlet with three thick spikes grew on top of his right hand with material from his surroundings. He thrust it with all his might at the body of the construct, a small explosion sounded, fading away from the beep in his ears and crumbling the construct to dust and rouble. He gave himself a breather. His hearing had come back but his sight still kept him in the blind.
A new enemy arrived, it seemed to have fallen out of the sky for it was suddenly there, near his allies. Gangting ran towards Kenna and Darknight to add them against this new opponent. He was almost there when a sudden gust of wind met him, the giant disappeared from the earth. He did hear the flaps of wings but couldn’t see the beast with his eyes. “Where is Darknight!” Shouted Gangting, looking at the spot where the lighter Kenna stood. Right after that he felt two beings fall upon the ground, followed by the large giant. His head turned to the bodies, while one of them disappeared, it was a reflex but didn’t saw anything. “Earth Demon’s Stalagmites!” Bellowed Gangting out as he stamped on the ground. A razor-sharp spike of stone rose from the ground with an astonishing speed, straight into the foot of the giant. “Earth Demon’s Pebble Stern!” Shouted Gangting after that, he rose his hands up and patches of stone and earth rose up from the ground on either side of him. His hands formed fists as the patches puddled up in spheres and he flung his fist towards the being one after the other. Both spheres of rouble smashed against the giant. The giant stirred but Gangting couldn’t predict what would happen and he soared through the air before he knew after a fist hit him hard. He laid on his back, grabbing for the nearest rock and stuck it in his mouth, he jaws snapped closed and crunched the stone to dust and swallowed it. He jumped up and drew his sword and charged. He slashed and stabbed at the giant half a dozen time before it attacked him again, two opponents seemed to be too much to him to properly counter them. Gangting’s sight slowly grew back, a golden glimmer played at his eyes. Moments later he realised that it was from the golden armour that the giant wore but a tail flung at him before he could look properly at the giant. Gangting managed too roll away from the attack and stood up behind the mighty opponent. He stabbed a dozen time in the back of the beast. The tail was back at him again, Gangting jumped out of the way and shouted, “Earth demon’s Spike Wave!” He stamped on the ground and the earth waved up with razor-sharp spikes, they shredded everything in its path until it met the feet of the giant. It fell from pain on the ground and Gangting jumped on top of it, slashing three times at it’s wing. Kenna gave the final blow that killed the being. “It seems I owe you an apology.” Said Gangting to Kenna, the sweat ran from his head. He ripped of his bronze armour and walked to Darknight. “Care for a drink?” He sat down next to him and took a bottle from his belt. He uncorked it and took a gulp from the wine and offered it to the others.

Note/// We combined 4 normal rolls into a Boss roll, and 2 normal rolls into a strong roll.

She’d not seen it coming. Not even a single bit. They’d just been progressing on a regular pace through Fat Monsterland’s wilderness when the smell of cinders and charcoal, as if someone was attempting to light a fire, penetrated her nostrils, followed by a crackling sound and Darknight suddenly moving out of her eyes’s reach. Something flickered before her and the Dragon Slayer had found nothing better than to swat at it instead of dodging, which proved to be a fatal mistake of her instincts. The lightningbolt hit both her and Gangting straight on, leaving both to their own devices as the surging pain ran through them. Kenna somehow remained upright, eyes closed as her mind ran over the last few seconds before the lightningbolt had impacted with her backhand slap. Truthfully she wanted to move, open her eyes and -if she had to be truly honest- lay down on the floor and take a moment to cry; instead she stood there far cooler than intended, unrelenting with her arm still slightly raised, eyes closed and hair waving wildly as the twirling dust started to settle. Outside she looked epic, inside she felt like screaming out. Even with her immunity to the fire’s heat, that didn’t mean boiling blood didn’t bother her, or the static jolts fluttering through her skin and hair. All she could do, after having needed a few moments of complete and utter silence, was to exhale with a deep sigh and blow the hair out of her face. ”That. Hurt. A lot.” She said with a pained grimace, slowly running her armored hand through her hair as she inhaled shakily. Her remaining had shot up in blue flames, the aura thriving wildly and collecting small tidbits of fire from the lightning strike to add to the fire within her palm. Without another word she smacked it into her chest, immediately feeling how the burning sensation faded and her hearing returned to her as the aura spread through her body, healing the many internal injuries the direct strike had done to her. Kenna let out a growl as she turned towards the lightning elemental and watched Darknight put up quite the fight with… a little guy? Did he use familiars? The demoness shook her head and summoned Steel Wolf to her side; the weapon taking its gauntlet form around her right hand, of which she casually moved her digits of to see whether it was sitting nicely around her lower arm. Not left disappointed she charged towards the lightning elemental, seemingly having chosen the perfect timing to do so as her armored companion shouted at her to take care of the crackling 20 feet giant. Kenna grinned as the elemental threw a punch at her, countering it with a fist of her own. The elemental looked somewhat taken aback by the puny human being able to actually hold her own against his strenght, yet didn’t know that a dragon’s strength resided within said tiny body either. Another sword found its way appearing into Kenna’s hand with a blazing blast, and pierced through the side of the elemental’s limb like a tiny vicious needle; it had struck twice more by the time it was out of range, yet found itself tailed by the ravenhaired woman who effortlessly closed in and slammed her fist into the creature’s body. It stumbled and bent double, yet received an uppercut before it could actually properly do so and seemed staggered. Taking advantage of this Kenna followed up with a smooth succession of strikes over its crackling body at a speed much like its own; seemed like those damned Gingerbread genes, and with it the supernatural speed she possessed, within her blood had been worth the training. She appeared and disappeared in flashes, with every single strike of her blade Antares striking true. After five or more hits, the Sabertooth mage slammed the back of her closed fist into its body, sending it flying further ahead and away from her.

That however did not mean she was over and done with the trouble aiming for her being; the rattling of bones made her look up, and upon viewing the large deinosuchus-without-flesh waddled up at a terrifying speed, and with a similarly-terrifying size to boot, Kenna didn’t dare wait for it to reach her. ”Really? First wave had a pair of handbags, and this one a bag of walking bones? What the hell do they feed you guys here---" A moment of mental silence ensued to that unspoken rhetorical question, and she had to snicker at her own joke once it arrived. ”Looks like they’re not feeding you enough, eh Dry Bones?” Kenna exclaimed as a pair of fiery wings sprouted from her back and made her airborne, taking her out of the skeletal crocodile’s snapping reach. Several meters above it, high enough to not get hit if it were to sweep its boney tail at her, Kenna went over her options on how to deal with the giant croc, unable to focus on whatever was befalling her comrades-in-arms. Experience had taught her skeletons did not do well against blunt damage… which meant the gauntlet solidifying and protecting her fist would surely suffice for the time being. She would’ve opted to use magic, but since she had no idea what other opponents awaited them decided against it; last time too had been a close call, and although her current brothers-in-arms surely looked formidable, they did not allow for the same trust as Kite had given her if anything were to go wrong. There was a difference between two guildmasters having your back and two strangers she had yet to properly come to know; no matter how much trust she was willing to put in them, it was a fact she could not overlook. Worst case scenario she would have to come to their aid and be depended upon, which left her but one choice. Determined and calculated her decisions would be. There was no room for errors. Her mind made up, Kenna suddenly plummeted from above, a single fist outstretched as she intended to slam through the neck of the giant skeletal crocodile… with an unexpected turn of events. She did hit it, but found herself bouncing back off the bones instead of breaking through them, and had her scrambling to her feet when the beast turned its head to see what had happened. Side-stepping as it suddenly performed a tail-slam, Kenna instinctively grabbed the giant croc’s tail and pulled; however instead of pulling any one of the bones loose she felt how the entire body shifted, both her and the reptilian skeleton making a surprised face as it was janked away. Using the momentum of her confusion she swung thoroughly and rammed some of the trees with her newly-acquired bone bat, breaking at about five in half before she threw the beast overhead… or so she had intended to. Too heavy to remain airborne the deinosuchus crashed down like one would expect of a stack of bones, making Kenna erect a barrier to protect her from the incoming oddity ‘rain’. The deinosuchus however, instead of falling into pieces like one would expect, remained whole and just laid atop the barrier Kenna kept up. The barrier however started to crumble away ever so slowly from the sides, bringing her in a predicament in which the young mage had to act swiftly. As soon as she left or moved her arm the barrier would dissipate instantly, so she had to rely on either her speed skill or a spell to keep the colossal undead crocodile to crash down on top of her. Speed became the answer she would choose, and found herself dodging the large skull by only an inch or two, bashing an armored fist into its skull as to keep it away from her. Steel Wolf, still in gauntlet form, retracted and shifted into its sword form, allowing the Sabertooth mage to dual-wield both Antares and Steel Wolf in each hand. Piercing and blunt, as Steel Wolf was a sword shaped like none other she’s seen before, with a broad edge from which pins could extract and make it an edged weapon. Steel Wolf struck several times; on its empty eye-socket, twice on its front paw, once more on its ribs and a series of seven hits all over its body. Another try at grabbing its tail showed a new development as she reached out and crushed one of the smaller bones upon closing her palm around it. The beast did not seem bothered by it, but it betrayed that the more damage it took the more vulnerable and brittle its bones became. It was at this point that the scent of something draconic caught her attention, where she entirely ignored her current opponent to gaze into the distance where both Gangting and Darknight were fighting off two gigantic beasts. A tingling feeling stirred within her being, her golden eyes flashed crimson and unable to help it her hair suddenly flickered into its pale white color, betraying her demonic lineage. She shook her head and suppressed the urge of her genes, countering the incoming tail with a powerful swing of her two blades, guiding the boney limb to go overhead instead of crashing into her, and attempted at slashing through it with both swords at once. The result was merely chipping into the strong bones, but it had been her final attempt to break through the skeletal crocodile. She’d wasted enough time on the beastly bag of bones when there were dragon-like beings awaiting her slaying powers.

The fiery wings erupted from her shoulder blades yet again as she took flight, soaring at the two giants at a pace she had never before experienced; something deep inside compelled her to fight them. Her fingers were itching and her breathing became heavier, all the while magic surged through her veins like crazy. Twenty or so meters away from the giants, which she perceived to have tails and wings as was typical to dragon kin, and shouted at her companions to take their leave immediately. ”Gangting! Darknight! Time to make yourself scarce lest you wish to be blaze with them!” Innerly she couldn’t help but chuckle upon realising she had been taking over Jigoku’s manner of speech when using certain spells… although this one in particular was one she knew her dragon mentor wasn’t fond of in the slightest. ”Hell’s Great Fire Annihilation!” Kenna exclaimed as her words became fuel, her oxygen the flames that erupted from deep within her and blazed out with such raw power she barely contained it. The fire spread wildly, but unlike any other dragon roar suddenly exploded into a 5 meter thick wall, running down a 20 meter distance and engulfing both half-dragon giants within a fiery blaze. Without a second thought the dragon slayer extended her hands and summoned forth two swords known as Fire Dragon Slayer’s Fangs, replacing them with Antares and Steel Wolf whom went back to their pocket dimension and gauntlet form respectively, and dashed forward within the smoke, striking both once in quick succession. The left giant became her first target; a deep slash in its tendon forced it on its knee and allowed Kenna a step-up she gladly took advantage of, cutting open its back as she moved her way up. Once she reached its head she jumped off of it towards the second giant, smashing both swords into its chest and sliding her way down as it hysterically tried to slap her off his body. She landed on the floor and moved in between its legs, cutting both tendons so it lost its footing and tripped on top of its comrade, effectively crushing him underneath its giant kin’s weight. She could hear a distinct crack, notifying her that one’s neck had forfeited its years of service, and left Kenna with only one left to take care of. Swiftly the Dragon Slayer scaled over the broken body and gripped her obsidian blades tightly; Jigoku had told her that however small the wound was she made with these blades, as long as the being had any dragon blood within its veins, said wounds would feel like they’d been made by blazing-hot steel unable to be extinguished. She could imagine its pain, and thus aimed as accurately as she could. Both blades found their way into the giant’s skull without effort. The giant succumbed almost instantly; by the time it had collapsed atop its fellow giant the swords had dissipated into a cloud of dark dust.

Following next was something she had to expected to see again; a gryphon, and quite a large one at that. She could feel the pressure it exerted to be many times larger than the ones she’d encountered before that… A smirk cracked upon her face and she relented to the feeling of excitement being brought forth by the intimidating creature, then smiled brightly as she eyed the beast and watched for an opening that swiftly came; as Darknight and his newest summon engaged Kenna extended her hand and aimed carefully as not to hit her allies. ”Fire Dragon’s Volley!” Kenna uttered, firing four fireballs in quick succession, each hitting their target almost perfectly. She was about to switch magic for melee when the Gryphon Lord took flight however… with Darknight, it seemed. Now both were up in the sky the only sure-fire hits would also hurt Darknight, which she could not allow to happen. Torturing her brain for a solution in the make, Kenna could only think of how her armored friend summoned his own allies to the field of battle. Her eyes tore themselves away from the beast to look for the red-haired giant she could call her ally and saw how he took care of the remaining monsters without any effort. The sight of Gangting finishing off his own targets brought about a single flashback she could not place within her own timeline, yet it brought the answer Kenna had been looking for; a summon to aid her. A giant magic circle suddenly appeared beside the Dragon Slayer as she mumbled words in an ancient demonic language and saw how a draconic beast crawled forth from within it, a wyvern with torn wings that would aid her in her fight. She moved as one together with Gangting as soon as Darknight had grounded, seemingly too damaged to stand up again. Things went fast after that; inbetween the earthen spikes that arose from her ally’s magic Kenna bashed into the Gryphon lord in a tornado of multi-colored flames, and was pinned by the fiery wyvern that had come to her aid from the other side; each dealt 5 hits before moving away so the next of Gangting’s spells could hit, and repeated that process several times over until after 30 hits or so the Gryphon Lord managed to beat her summon down. Kenna moved away a moderate distance as to not be grasped by the Gryphon Lord’s claws and left Gangting to it as she stared at her summon as it disintegrated into a cloud of cinders. Magic gathered within her being as her eyes flickered crimson once more, eyeing the winged fiend with a sudden killing intent that had her own self boiling in sudden anger. Her magic flared and with commanding voice she summoned forth that which would execute her will; the 30 meter large magic circle appeared behind her, strong and present. The beast turned as if stung by a bee and let out a menacing roar, which the slayer replied to by holding her arm and cutting into the soft tissue until blood welled up. ”With this sacrifice I demand your presence within this world!” Kenna roared loudly as a blazing warrior arose from the magic circle, it’s blazing blade ready to strike. All the mage had to do was point at her chosen target and command it to move. ”Slay that gryphon!” No more was needed. The giant blazing summon dashed forth and struck cleanly, its sword several times larger than the gryphon itself, which was smashed into the ground as the sword impacted and forced it down. A rectangular crater remained as the fire extinguished, the gryphon heavily burnt and no longer in this world. The slayer let out a deep groan as she allowed herself to sit down beside her brothers-in-arms, nearly depleted of her magic but alive nonetheless, for which she was grateful. ”My gratitude to both of you… I wouldn’t have been able to do this without you guys. That was downright amazing.” She uttered before allowing her to fall backwards, panting heavily. ”A drink would be nice…. very nice. No other words left her mouth afterwards as fatigue started to creep into the Sabertooth mage’s mind. Happy the current threat had been evaded for now, she hoped this would be the last one. She truly hoped so, but knew that was most-likely not the case.
