    Completed Archaeologist for a Day (Job/Solo/ Ep1)

Post by Chili Thompson 26th July 2017, 11:36 am

Chili had been passing through Terra Ignis in hopes of finding clues in the library of recent attacks on near by villages when he had come across a job board. Taking a glance to see if there was anything quick he could do before continuing his search. One of the jobs caught his attention. Someone named Guy Stratus was digging up some old tomb and he needed help to pass the ancient traps that were apparently still active. Having never explored an ancient resting place of some long forgotten king, Chili was more than ecstatic about doing this job. Taking off for the out skirts of Terra Ignis, even with all the mountains surrounding him, Chili had seen some landmarks that would help lead him back to where he had seen the ruins. Chili was thinking to himself about the events that took place a week before hand at Talonia, wondering what his friend may be up to now, Chili pondered on that for a second before his mind returned to the original reason he had been in Terra Ignis, to begin with. "I hope the library has some of the records I'm looking for, the last three had nothing. It was almost like the previous libraries all had their records of anything involving that group removed. " Chili commented aloud as he continued his trek through the woods toward the cliffs.

Having made it, Chili paused and waited for about five minutes. "Well I found the ruins, so where the hell is the dude who put out the job request." Chili pondered aloud to himself as he looked up at the giant cliff the ruins were apart of. They weren't much to see since most of the ruins ran into the cliff, not visible on the surface. "Maybe I'm on the wrong side of the ruins, the entrance could be somewhere completely different or I'm on the wrong ruins" Chili wondered as he kept talking aloud. "You must be a wizard who saw my job request." A happy sounding voice called out from behind Chili. Turning around he came to see the voice belonged to a man, who appeared to be in his late twenties. He had black colored hair and was wearing a simple button up colored shirt with brown pants. Chili was gonna say something about how the guy looked unprepared although taking into consideration that he was wearing a similar get up to this guy he decided to keep his mouth shut. Chili opted to say this instead, "So you're the archaeologist? Guy? huh, I was expecting someone shorter, well anyway it's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Chili." Offering his right hand for a shake, Guy paused for a second before grabbing a hold of it. Shaking Chili's hand a few times, a big grin on his face as he said. "It's a nice to meet you too, Chili."
"Now follow me, I'll lead you to the entrance and then with your help we may be able to go deeper into the tomb." Guy continued as he stopped shaking Chili's hand, turning towards the ruins and began leading the way. Chili raised an eye brow and remained stationary for a couple seconds before following. Not really sure what he was about to get himself into, however, he knew it would be interesting, to say the least. So, quietly following Guy down a small path that led closer to the cliffs, Chili started to get a little excited while thinking "Sweet! I'm gonna grave rob some ancient dude's tomb! Wow, that sounded really bad saying it like that. Maybe that's why archeologist say excavate instead of grave rob. Huh, I'm not gonna ask."

“Here's the entrance,” Guy said sounding like a tour guide after he had led them closer to the cliffs side, where there was a big stone door about a meter taller than Chili, in the side with weird carvings on it. Not saying much more Guy started to push against the door. It barely budged, seeing this Chili walked over and started to help. It opened slowly but they still managed to open it wide enough for them the walk through. As they got farther from the door the light disappeared. Chili heard a match strike up as Guy lit a torch. Not wanting to be the only one with out a light source, Chili did the hand symbols required to enter Hellfire mode. The normal dull flame above his head now red, hot, and bright. Now with light, they could see that they were in a small room with three pillars on each side. The room led to a smaller one man corridor, Guy taking the lead down it with Chili behind him. The hall led to a rather large room with, stopping Chili as he came out Guy pointed to the floor and said, “ See all the colored tiles?” Chili looked done, besides the side, they were on with normal tiles and the other side, the whole middle of the room was covered in yellow, blue, green, and red. Picking up a rock, Guy chucked it onto one of the blue tiles. The rock floated into the air and then exploded into dust. “From what I have determined all tiles except the yellow ones are safe,” Guy stated matter of factually. “Huh there are barely any yellows on the floor, getting across that way seems like a fool's errand.” Chili commented back. “Well if you have a safer way across, I'll wait here while you somehow deactivate this trap,” Guy brightly replied. Snapping his fingers as an idea brewed, Chili let a wide grin across his face and said, “Ya know I may just have something up my sleeve for this.” Charging power into his hands, Chili took a few steps back down the corridor they had come from and yelled as he began to run forward, “You may want to take a few steps to the side!”

Guy took as many steps to the side as he could before Chili came ripping down the corridor as fast as he could. Right before his foot touched the colored section of the floor he jumped into the air, bring his feet up as he did. Boosting while in mid air Chili covered the entirety of the floor in a few seconds making it safely over to the other side, however, he was a little late in killing this boost. He slammed face first into the opposite side's wall before sliding into a kneeling position on the ground his face still in the wall. Pulling himself from the wall Chili stood up and turned to look across the room at Guy, giving him a thumbs up. He began to search for something to deactivate the trap, examining the wall that had been to his left once he turned and found a hand sized bronze panel to press. Shrugging Chili pressed it half expecting to be set on fire or something instead though the walls in the middle of the room parted to reveal a path deeper into the ruins. While simultaneously the colored tiles all flipped over to regular ones.  Guy walked across the hall a smile on his face as he sheepishly said "Good job Chili now we can continue further in, however, be careful I haven't been past this room so from here on in I'm a little clueless." Chili chuckled a little as Guy continued past him and through the door, while this thought went through his head "Welp going in blind is always fun. Maybe not wise but fun at least."

Following after Guy into the vastly roomier corridor, Chili caught up to him to ask a question. "So what are we even hoping to find down here?" Guy began to excitedly explain more than happy to talk about this tomb's history. "This tombed is rumored to be the final resting place of King Gen'atoh and his six prism nights. He had six stones that he gave to each one of his prism knights so that if one were to fall another could take up his mantle. They held a war against an evil mistress who wanted take the power of the stones for her self. One day they just disappeared along with their king. Now we may be able to find out what happened."  As Guy continued to ramble Chili had taken a few steps in front of him quicken his pace a little. "If this king's warriors were as clever as Guy was making him sound then there might be some deadly as heck traps ahead. I'll just walk in front of him in case something happens." Chili thought to himself before taking two more steps and stopping. The light source from Guy's torch had vanished as well as his rambling voice. Turning around quickly Chili clenched his jaw, Guy was gone and now he was alone in what was now confirmed as a moving tomb. Shaking his head Chili went to shout out Guy's name to see if maybe he could hear him through the walls, but he was unable to as slots in his corridor's walls opened up, letting out stone golems. Not having time to worry about Guy at the moment Chili prepared himself for a fight. luckily that his fists were still lit and ready to go.

For some reason only two golems activated while the rest remained unmoving, having some sort of magical malfunction, not that he mind. As the two started towards him Chili relaxed having expected a trap rather than something he could just smash even if he would be doing less damage in his current mode. Chili kicked the first approaching golem knocking it away from him as the other smacked him up side the head with a big stone mallet looking war hammer. Shaking his head and taking a step back, Chili was recovered in time when the golem went for another attack. Catching its hammer about a few centimeters below the top of it, Chili ripped it from the things hands and then kicked the golem away before swinging the hammer to his left hitting the other sentry as it came back for another try. The hammer collided with its midsection sending the golem wobbling to the side. Retracting the hammer from the mid section, Chili kicked the golem again and turned to throw the hammer at the other one. It hit the thing in the head. While he did this the one he just kicked slammed its hammer into his ribs. Before the sentry could move the hammer, Chili grabbed the head of the hammer and turned to face the golem. Kicking its outstretched hands off its hammer, destroying them, Chili threw the hammer to the side and kicked the golem in the mid section making it crumble to pieces of rubble. Turning to the other one Chili moved his head back a bit as he took a step backward and avoided the hammer swung at his head. The other sentry had recovered its own hammer, then picked up its partners, and now dual wielding two war hammer by holding each one in the middle. The thing was now throwing semi quick swings at him, one after another. Ducking underneath one that was aimed for his head, and fully crouching low to the ground he dodged another one. Chili sent a crouching slide kick into the things lower section, rolling around to the golem's left and standing up Chili delivered a hard kick to its side. The thing swung a double hammer sideways attack at him, however, Chili caught the hammers by the hilt with each one of his hands. He pulled the golem toward him and as he did this he sent a kick into its middle section. Effectively sending the thing crumbling away to the ground, as Chili held onto its arms and hammers. Dropping both Chili let out a satisfied sigh, that had been a good warm up and he couldn't wait to see what lay ahead. First things first though, he needed to find Guy and Chili had no idea where to begin searching.

That was not a problem long however as the slots closed and the corridor shifted again. Guy came rotating in he was on the ground unharmed from the looks of it though. He stood up and looked around, upon seeing Chili he smiled and ran up to him. Patting him on the back he said "I was shocked when the hallway shifted, so I began trying to see if I could here a mechanism beneath the floor, to see if that was the reason that the hall shifted."
"I fought some guardian golems, although only two activated so it was a breeze," Chili responded back with a grin. Nodding his head Guy began walking down the hall again. Following in suite Chili remained silent as they continued. About three minutes of walking later they came to the end of the corridor where they found a large marble door what wave covered in vines. It had an effigy of the Aegis carved into it.

Guy pushed the door open and gave out a sound of excitement as he ran into the room. Entering the room himself, Chili noted the big stone statue with a sarcophagus below it, clutching a shield that had different gem stones inserted into it. One ruby, one sapphire, another emerald, one pink tanzanite, one sphere, and the last one diamond. The statue sat in the middle of the room and with bodies of skeletons about the floor. Guy approached the statue and as he did he began talking to Chili. "Remember what I was saying about those stones early. I theorized that they have been an ancient form of lacrimal, however, I am uncertain." As he talked he accidentally stepped on the statue's foot. Hearing a click the statue's arm out stretched and dropped the shield. Guy went to catch the shield when it stopped and hovered mid air. It began to spin and as it did the shield aged backward, returning to its original glory. The shield stopped spinning and stayed suspended in mid air. Guy spoke aloud "Chili do you hear that?" Not hearing anything Chili just shook his head thinking "It could be an illusion based magic trap", Guy began to approach the shield however as he did the bones on the ground started to rattle, the bodies of the skeletons began to reanimate. Chili was going to say something when Guy touched the shield, there was a blinding light as the gemstones went flying from the shield and through the roof. The ruby instead of flying up though flew directly into Guy's chest and he was consumed by a red light while he was lifted up into the air. Chili would have helped but he had some skeletons to deal with. Unlucky for him his magic had just finished and he was now back to doing regular damage. Not wanting to be without anything Chili quickly bit his arm and drew blood as he swapped modes over to Void. He began to charge magic into his hand while the Skeletons assembled themselves.

As ten undead warriors came lifting off the ground reassembling their bones together. One let out a screech as it turned to Chili "Death to the filthy Prism Knights!"  Two were to Chili's left, Four to his right and four to his front. The two on the left were the first to charge, dodging a sword swing from one of them by rolling to the right. Chili threw his void at the group of four that had been in his frontal view. The void made it over to them and opened before they could join their brethren in combat. Not being alive the void did not suck away their life force however it seems to be feeding off what ever was keeping them alive affecting the skeletons in a weird way. Not having time to pay attention as he was surrounded by the six others. Taking a slash to the back Chili growled with a thought in his head as he kicked an incoming skeleton in the rib as it tried to attack. "Man there is a skele"ton" of these guys. Welp, I'll just have to marrow down the numbers." Jumping Chili did a round house kick the hit the heads of four others. Landing back on the ground Chili was slashed across the front of his chest by another swing of a sword. Uppercutting the skeleton responsible, Chili then grabbed ahold of it and sent a kick into its mid section making it stumble toward his void. Recovered the four he had kicked in the head all rushed him along with the one that he had pushed back at the start while the others struggled to get out of the void. The one that had just stumbled into the void's range, started to screech as its head began to spin in circles. Grabbing one skeleton by the neck Chili launched it into the ground while another jumped on his back. Throwing it off of him Chili quickly threw a punch into the face of one that had its sword raised, wincing as he felt a sword pierce his left lower back, Chili sent a backward kick and landed it in the skeleton's spine through its stomach area. Making it stumble back without its weapon. Ripping the sword out Chili tossed it to the ground. As the fifth skeleton made an attempt at an attack. Chili stepped to the side and kicked the skeleton in the head. Taking a few steps toward his void Chili, dodged a ramming skeleton and let it run into his voids radius. Now with six in the voids area of effect, Chili was doing well against these things, he just needed to get them all in his void. Mindless the other four all came at him. Ducking underneath one swing, Chili grabbed its arm and flung it over his shoulder into the void's area. He was about to continue fighting off skeleton when the light that had been surrounding Guy vanished as a figure landed on the floor. He was a man in red armor, he held a spear in one hand and had the shield on his back. Whoever he was he came to Chili's help as he engaged the other three skeletons in combat allowing Chili to focus on the seven he had in his void. Turning to face them Chili rushed towards the one that he had kicked and delivered a high heel kick to its still spinning head. Not able to do more as the ones that had been trapped in the void from the start had now recovered in advanced toward him. Kicking the first of the four, Chili side stepped two swings from the same creature and delivered a punch to the things face sending it backward. ITs friends avoided its falling from as they all attacked Chili at once. Ducking out of the way of a sword, Chili sent a punch into the one that was trying to attack second while the one that attacked third hit its mark, making another cut diagonally down Chili's back. Jumping he sent a kick into the third one's face landing on the ground and slammed a punch into the first skeleton's ribs. Meanwhile, the red knight was spinning in a circle, he managed to hit each one of the three skeletons twice. Making them all stumble away from him. Chili would have been fine without the help however it was much appreciated never the less.

Hearing screeches Chili watched as three of the skeletons evaporated into dust while within his voids radius. The four he had just been fighting were not counted among them and were still standing. Chili ducked out of the way of two swords being swung at him as the two skeletons that missed stumbled into each other. Slamming a punch into the one now in front of him, Chili jumped and sent a kick into its face. The skeleton crumbled to the ground as soon as his foot touched the dirt. Turning Chili blocked one of the two stumblers from getting another swing in. While holding the things arm still, Chili delivered two punches to its head. The second one sending the skull flying across the room. Dropping the bones to the ground Chili grunted as a sword was swung into his side about an inch deep. Slamming a left hook into the undead's face, causing it to rip the blade out, Chili proceeded to round house the skeleton and knocked its upper torso off its legs. The torso crashed into the ground in a heap as the legs followed it down. The last one he needed to deal with came charging at him. At the last second before it swung Chili slugged it, knocking its head off before heel kicking the rest of its body away. Turning to see how the red knight was doing, Chili saw that the knight had slammed his spear into the ground. Releasing fire all around him and cooking the last three remaining skeleton into burnt bone dust.

The fighting now over with Chili approached the man in red, as he removed his helmet and revealed that underneath the mask was in fact Guy! Blinking in confusion Guy turned to Chili and started to go into a long explanation of how the remnants of King Gen'atoh had appeared to him while he was in the light. Telling him that he was chosen to carry on the legacy of the red prism knight and his job was to find the other knights as well. As he talked both him and Chili made their way back to the entrance from which they came.
"So from what I can tell I will need to start traveling to find the owners of the stones, which the stones should have already found on their own my job is to help coax them into understanding their power." Guy finished saying as they exited the tomb from the door they had entered. Now back outside Guy smile at Chili and continued to speak "You know you have helped me more today than I could have ever hoped. For now, we shall part ways however I feel we may cross paths again." Smiling back Chili responded, "Yeah I have a feeling we will see each other again down the line." With that Guy handed Chili his payment and turned walking down one path while Chili headed down another. Both going in opposite direction yet somehow walking a similar road.
