    JUST WANNA HAVE SOME FUN
The girl perched on the top of the rock, hands gently wrapping themselves around her knees. She had finally scouted out the source of the problems in this latest task. A mischievous grin on her face, she leapt lithely down from the top of the rock, brushing her lengthy bangs from dark brown eyes. She needed to get a haircut sometime soon. Brushing off her schoolgirl’s skirt, she began to walk leisurely through the town, gaze flitting over the buildings. Finally, she had managed to get that cat off her tail, and here she was with a moment of freedom for herself! By now, the fun-loving girl had figured out enough to know that she must look an awful lot like some kid named Sorano, since so many people seemed to be calling her by that name. It didn’t help that this Sorano seemed to be in a position of power, which meant that people came only to ask her for things. Really! It was seriously getting on her nerves.

This time, she had woken up on some random park bench, clutching some piece of paper with the plans for a sort of task or whatever. It bothered her somewhat that she never seemed to wake in the place she had gone to sleep, but honestly, what was the issue? For some reason, Chika never minded. While it was an issue most should be worried about, it had never bothered the girl for reasons she couldn’t understand. However, what the paper said did bother her. Quite a bit, actually. She was apparently expected to go to some boring CONFERENCE of all things, and sit around for hours to help resolve the most stupid of problems. What the heck? Who had set her up for this? Scowling, Chika marched into the guild hall, eyes roaming the room for the closest person. Aha! Perhaps she could use this Sorano person that people seemed to think she was to get her way this time. Her eyes landed on a redheaded man, sitting over at a table. Kekek, he looked mature enough for some boring conference, right? Grinning, Chika sauntered up and planted the sheet right on the table in front of him.

“You!” she said in as important a voice as she could muster when wearing a schoolgirl uniform and pigtails, “I want you to go to this conference! Um, now!” She stomped awkwardly once, trying to look all-important, before skedaddling as fast as she possibly could. Ignoring the enraged exceed flying towards her, Chika would whistle a tune as she skipped out of the hall.

This is actually so bad like whot. And Sorano is currently in her alter state, Chika. Info in character tab.

In the eyes of Ezra, everything was fluffy. Everything was bright, vibrant and full of color! All sorts of hues; green, orange, red, yellow, creamy white, earthy browns, they were all there! They all came together to create a vast amount of... dishes? Yes, dishes! Pork chops with Raspberry Sauce, Creme Brulee French Toast, baked Midian Salmon, Foolproof Rib Roast, Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze! The dishes were endless (and almost entirely consisted of meat) and Ezra could hardly contain himself.

The redhead's mouth watered and fingers wiggled, ecstatic with the wondrous courses that were on display! "Oh dear me...! Just a bite..." Ezra inched his way to the meals before a greasy hand would smack his wrist.

"Not yet, Ezra!" A voice full of familiarity scolded him with it's orotund voice, "The mashed potatoes aren't finished yet!"

Ezra swallowed his saliva and looked up, onto to find a gigantic being that stood at twice his height. Strangely enough, the being had the body of a greasy, homemade turkey but the face of his Grandmother. Ezra's face lit up in delight, "Granny? Ma- Mashed potatoes?! Oh my...!" The redhead was nearly on his knees in awe.

"Now, now, Ezra! The mashed potatoes are done, honey! Now open wide...!" Ezra's take of a Grandmother handed him a plate of all courses together, "Say ahhh...!"

The grown man opened wide, he could smell it! He could taste it already! One, two...!

    Bumph!

The table right in front of him was pounded by the sudden smack of a document, waking him from his precious dream in a matter of seconds. On the redhead's face was a magazine titled "Fiore Today!" with a couple of high-end models on the front and back of it. It was more so used for shade than for a good read, as he sluggishly removed it just enough to reveal his sky-blue eyes, filled with both sadness and irritation.

"Me? Conference?" Ezra questioned, feeling indignant of the previous interruption. Ezra groaned and lifted himself from his comfortable position, perfect for dozing a day away, and cracked his neck. "Now hold on just a minute, lassie. What's this about a conference? Ain't this something for The Master to handle? Lassie?" Before Ezra could elucidate, the young woman had skedaddled to God knows where, leaving only him and the ominous document. He was too slow to really catch a glimpse of the girl, leaving him puzzled.

For a good sixty seconds, Ezra was processing what had just happened before cracking his neck once more. "Okay... ain't that a doozy. To think there'd be such naughty lil' girls so rude that they'd interrupt such a glamorous dream... what a brat." The redhead cursed under his breath but was frankly too sluggish and tired to really return to his usually hot-headed state. Ezra yawned and quickly unraveled the document's secrets, reading it's contents carefully.

"Hrmm... Sorano Granon... meeting today... recent conflict..." Ezra mumbled as he would continue to skim and analyse the message under his breath, "Havin' a bit of a tussle, eh? I didn' get a good glimpse of that lassie, but ur Boss is still a kid. She doesn't need to do all of this, nhm!" Ezra cackled to himself and stuffed the letter into his shirt pocket. It was his treat! Always good to do nice things for others, he certainly had the moral high ground!

"Cedar Knights, huh? How bizarre! They have always been so tranquil 'n all.
But I reckon everyone has their tussles..."
Ezra hummed to himself as he reached down into his other pocket to retrieve his silver flask, which he had owned for nearly ten years. He swished it to and fro before coming to the sad conclusion that his favorite whiskey had no longer remained, "D'aw, shucks! Hard to really get into it without my whiskey... doesn't matter, though. Time to head'on out."

With that being said, Ezra had marched out the guild hall with a grin on his face... or he would of liked to. Instead, he dragged himself outside with tired eyes and the remaining sadness in his eyes from the sudden interruption. He still had time before the meeting had started, about forty-five minutes tops! Ezra would quietly make way through the streets with a black tank top, thin gray jacket, long brown pants and the necklace given to him at a young age. His blazing red hair would make him stand out as he dawdled through the streets.

    JUST WANNA HAVE SOME FUN
Even after all these years as a Cedar Knight, well… It never ceased to astonish and somehow horrify her how petty these “knights” could be. Merith, currently commander and head of the Cedar Knights leaned against the wall of her office, running a hand through her wild red hair, a sigh escaping chapped lips. Seriously! While she hated how she sounded and felt like some old lady, it had been so much better when she had first joined. They’d actually been an organization to be proud of, not a bunch of aristocratic stuck-ups trying to play pretend! And now that she took a break from the phone call she’d sent out to see if there was anyone else she could get to help, again the voices in the next room could be heard. “…grave insult to my ancestry…shut up…imbecile!” That’s right. Imbeciles, the whole lot of them, but Merith knew that there was no way they would act this way if they knew she could hear them. That was how it went. Whiny brats behind her back, but once the great Red Knight was before them, they shut right up. Useless.

Snorting at it all, Merith once again turned her face to the security lacrima that sat on her desk, gazing wistfully at the front walk. Ugh… When was she going to get here? Having felt that she had no choice after how far such a stupid issue had escalated, she’d even called in the guild master of Fairy Tail, of all guilds to help. Just how fall had they fallen? If asking assistance from a former dark guild was any indication… Finally reaching her limit of irritation for the day as an especially heated exchange between the knights occurred, Merith spun on her heel, walking briskly into the conference room. “Knights!” Her voice boomed out throughout the room, immediately turning heads. The people quickly switched positions, trying to look as though they hadn’t been bickering like children only moments ago. “When a friend of mine who specializes in mediating gets here, the meeting will begin. I trust you will all remain mature, yes?” Her condescending amber gaze fell upon each and every person, feeling them flinch under her steely eyes.

It had started off seemingly innocently. Simply a small disagreement between Lord Rittevon and Lady Balitang, who earnestly claimed that it had been him who had trampled her prize-winning flowers, imported fresh from Tetsukazu. Thinking that something so small would blow over eventually, she had underestimated the reach and length of Balitang’s rage. It didn’t help that the man whom she had accused was one of the pettiest people Merith had ever met. Apparently, the lady had gathered up a whole group of gardening ladies, and they’d all ended up forming some sort of discreet alliance against Rittevon and his friends. Honestly, it was one of the stupidest things the knight had seen grown men do, when Rittevon gathered up his friends. By now, she doubted they even cared about the flowers anymore, but this conflict had begun to affect knight things. Serious things. Life or death things. It had to stop, but by now, even her influence couldn’t keep them under control. “You better be of some use, Granon…”

Cedar Town! The redhead quickly made way from the busy streets of Magnolia Town to the town surrounded by sea and warmth! Ezra was like a little kid on a field trip to a zoo when he got off the train, as he wanted to touch everything, see everything, and look at everything. He looked more like an obsessed tourist than a man-with-a-mission.

Although helplessly sidetracked, he eventually made his way to his destination by complete coincidence. If he hadn't stumbled upon the Cedar Knights' Headquarters, he would've been to the far south of town in deep adoration of the rustic buildings and their beautiful oak trees.

To Ezra's surprise, the Cedar Knights building seemed like a humble place. It gave off this feeling of something similar to a bookstore. Perhaps the feeling was unique to him, but he felt oddly welcomed by it's hard stone blocks and powerful wooden features. With a prying eye, Ezra looked at the building from tip to bottom until he confirmed that this was the area.

"Ye... this sure is the place. Best go in 'fore I'm late." Ezra had hissed, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

Swiftly, the door had creaked open, the grown man slipping between the cracks, and closing it with the same noise just in time to here the words of a powerful, seemingly feminine voice. "Knights! When a friend of mine who specializes in mediating gets here, the meeting will begin. I trust you will all remain mature, yes?"

Ezra could already tell that Sorano's arrival was well awaited, and almost felt like a disappointment when a strong, capable law enforcement group had set up something specifically for her and instead had to settle with a redhead with a foul, southern accent. Ezra cackled sadly and shook his head, I'm only making myself feel worse, heh. He thought to himself.

With a toothy smile and capable puff of his chest, Ezra had confidently dragged himself into the conference hall with the assumption that he'd be welcomed. He stumbled into the room with his usual friendly demeanor and waved, "Howdy."

Ezra expected to be greeted with a bunch of prying, shocked eyes but had thoroughly prepared himself, and proceeded to expose the letter that had been intended for his Master. "I'm here in my Master's stead, 'ere to solve some sort of dispute for y'all..." He sipped his whiskey, "And 'fer the record, I thought I'dve died if I hadn't gotten some whiskey in me before this conference. Lucky me, Cedar happens to have some fine beverages on that part." The redhead had cackled his goofy cackle. He was all smiles and no bite, and had hoped to lighten the mood a bit.

He had squeezed the lid tightly onto his flask, stuffed it into his pocket and quickly sat down in the nearest seat. "Name's Ezra Aurence, by the way. Sorry for the intrusion, ya know.
Sometimes things just don't go as planned, huh?"

    JUST WANNA HAVE SOME FUN
The door would suddenly burst open, revealing a tall redheaded man, carrying a flask of what gave off the suspicious scent of some sort of liquor. Huh? Who was this? Merith frowned, eyeing the man who stood before her. “…excuse me, sir?” she asked dubiously, raising an eyebrow at his unexpected presence. It was only when he announced that he was here to solve the dispute that her expression changed, though not necessarily for the better. “You’re here… for Miss Granon?” It was obvious in her manner that Ezra was nothing that she had expected. She had to admit, the man looked nothing like a diplomatic peacemaker – more like someone who might start a conflict, never mind fix one. “So… she was too busy to come, huh…” A sigh frosted over her lips as the knight didn’t even bother to hide her disappointment. After so many long years being a leader, she had learned that being blunt and straightforward was the best way to go. No sneaking around the bush!

Ah, well. Anyone that the girl picked would be better than nothing. Sorano had to have a reason for sending him, right? After a pointed frown at his flask, Merith would call the meeting to order. “Thank you, everyone, for gathering here today. As I’m sure you are aware of, today’s main topic of discussion will be the recent issues that have risen up between the lords and ladies of our ranks. This is a problem that will have to be solved in order for our organization to function properly. Will our ladies speak first?” Tiredly, the knight gestured at the right side of the table, where lady “knights” were bundled up in a row, all proud and mighty as they sent withering looks at the males in the room.

“Welllll, Sir Merith,” one began, wearing an extravagant headdress of multicolored feathers, “As I’m sure you are aware of, the men of this company are quite rude…” Here, she sent another glare at the men in question, before continuing. She then proceeded to raise one thin, bony finger and pointed it in the direction of a thin man with a ramrod straight back – “He accused me of being mix-blooded!” she snarled, shooting daggers at the knight, "Insulting my ancestry that way, how could I not react?”

“Reacting, is that what you call it, huh?” The knight in question shot back, standing up in an abrupt movement, “By suggesting to my wife that I was sleeping with someone else?” Rage was evident in his features, as tension in the room began to build up. While it was true they were mostly pompous nobles, one could imagine them leaping at one another’s’ necks in a situation like this.

Post by DOPPO 23rd May 2017, 5:10 am

For the most part, Ezra was not at all surprised by the woman's reaction. It was already a bad impression for him to waltz in with some documents in one hand and whiskey in the other in front of a militant organization here to protect the law. It was a bothersome intrusion as far as Ezra could tell but quickly paid no mind to it. The redhead could hear a hint of disappointment in the woman's voice as she spoke about his Guild Master.

Despite his unexpected arrival, the meetings proceeded anyway. But he could feel iron eyes on his flask, coughed awkwardly obscured it from sight. From what the woman had said, this meeting was meant to formally address an issue that may have been a tad overstated. Ezra slunk down into his chair and listened carefully.

One member of what seemed to be a segregated section of the meeting (or maybe some sort of tremendous union) had spoken up with her extravagant wears, targeting a man who seemed to be named Sir Merith. It all happened in a matter of seconds. The one who had been speaking was quick to fire bullets at Sir Merith, who had a rebuttal with a snide comment about her accusations.

Ezra was baffled by the behavior, as he guaranteed he had been one of the younger men in the meeting but already felt like a parent. He awkwardly erected his back and leaned back into his seat with a more appropriate demeanor and groaned, "Now, folks... we ain't but a second into the meetin' 'n all and I can already see what's wrong." Ezra rubbed the back of his neck, "Ain't'cha all think a tad better of 'erselves? Lady, with all due respect,
your reacting only means you value his opinion, even if you know he's incorrect. That and it also shows you have little control over your impulses and thus, we've come to this."
Ezra spoke firmly but with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

Before the men had egged on his accusations, Ezra pried his eyes onto them, "But Sir Merith is no angel, either. As a representative of this organization, you should know better.
I feel as if it is only common knowledge to know whatever you put in, you get out. By insulting the lassie over there, you only triggered those emotions which I assume yer acquainted with. It pity this town if these are the men and women protecting them. If they cannot control their emotions,
so much that they resorted to a previous dark guild to mediate their disputes, then how can you control order in this town?"
Ezra huffed. "I ain't gonna raise my voice at none of y'all because I believe you all are mature enough to react to reason and not irrationality.
Ever wonder if five, ten years, this all won't matter? You lost yourselves to anger and hatred and suffered from that, lost your job, and only worsened as a person. Separate home from work,
lassie, his wife ain't got nothing dirty on you some do her dirty like that, ya know? It's him you have no liking 'fer."
Ezra smiled over to the woman, "I ain't got no knowing on your ancestry or nothing, but if you and I know that his accusation is correct, then why all the tusslin? Act like you are, high 'n mighty. I'll take confidence in your heritage over starting fights over'em any day." Ezra gave her a thumbs up and turned to Sir Merith, "Lad, ain't 'er marriage your marriage? As if her words mean anything.
By submitting to that anger, you're only giving her what she wants. If I know 'er wife ain't got nothing dirty on you, and you know she doesn't, no need to fuss now."

This was more so to test their tempers and reasoning skills more than to solve the issue right away. Ezra was certain that his reason may not reach them, but it would sure give him a better view of the situation.

    JUST WANNA HAVE SOME FUN
Merith’s eyes watched the man with curiosity as she noted how he reacted to the argument, wondering how he would do. At first, he paused, seeming to be at a loss as to what to do. But then, he slowly began to process the information, eyes flickering with the light of someone who was thinking, pondering over a situation. He began to talk then, slowly at first, then picked up speed as he sorted out his mind. But the redheaded knight couldn’t help but chuckle beneath her breath when he began to berate the lady. This might not be effective, but it would certainly be amusing. An offended sound escaped the woman’s mouth at Ezra’s comments, looking as though she might explode any moment. However, she was still someone of great noble blood, so she kept her mouth aristocratically closed, waiting for him to finish.

He was good enough not to give her the chance, though. He instantly turned the issue over to the men’s side, telling them that both sides were at fault. It was something that was an obvious fact to everyone, even the lords and ladies in the room. However, it was the nature of these high-up people to gossip and insult each other – almost even fun. It wasn’t a problem that would be solved in the usual manner. And when he tried to appeal to logic and reason, slowly pulling this first part of the argument to an end, Merith had to admit that he wasn’t bad. He definitely had the potential to be a great mediator, but he obviously hadn’t spent much time in these upper-class situations. Logic didn’t quite apply here, when it came to dirty rumors, verbal backstabbing, and all these fun little political things.

But just as things were going okay, he dropped a bomb down on the ladies. Merith chuckled. That was a comment that would be taken very, very personally. Even though he attempted to balance it by talking it out with the male as well, the deed had been done. The second he finished, the lady burst up from her seat, anger pulsing in bright blue eyes. “Excuse me, sir? Are you accusing me of being a dirty mix-blood? Are you trying to insult my heritage as well?” Spinning around to the redheaded knight, she snapped at the leader, saying, “If you brought him here for the sole purpose of humiliating me, then you have succeeded! Give me one reason why I shouldn’t leave this room right now!” Her glare shot daggers at everyone in the room, only increasing the tension.

The men were fired up now, too, “See? You ladies can never control yourself. So flighty – why are you in the knights anyways?” one snarled. The man from before whipped his head around to stare Ezra down as well, anger barely held in check. “Words don’t mean anything? The noble society relies on words! Ever heard of the sticks and stones saying? Words are valued as much as weapons here! Don’t speak of what you don’t understand!”

Merith only smiled, chuckling to herself as she sunk back in the chair, a slightly mischievous smile on her face. It felt strangely liberating to see someone undergo the horrors of what she had to deal with for so many years.

Ezra slunk back into his chair with a hissing sigh, alright exhausted by this whole ordeal. But to some degree, he could understand why his Master would be so reluctant to come here. Not only were these two unreasonably irritating, they'd go as far to bring a kid in to solve their problems. It really was pathetic.

Ezra's blue eyes wandered over to the redheaded mistress, who seemed to be comfortable. He realized that anyone would want to indulge in a state of neutrality if they had to deal with this all day long, leaving Ezra alone in a war between dumb monkies.

Ezra rubbed the back of his head sympathetically, his thoughts fading into a circle of digesting the information and creating solutions. As I thought, they certainly don't react well to reason. Ah geez, I'm a professional wizard, not a parent! The redhead thought. His pride was crushed under the words of 'parent', feeling as though his reputation had been diminished by this fight. Ezra brooded to himself quietly for the remainder of the argument in a bubble of depression.

For the most part, Ezra's expression of exhaustion continued to weigh on his face as the argumentative mistress would scream at him, unfazed by her anger and more tired than anything. The same face remained when the man inserted himself, again, leaving Ezra to his mental devices once more. As the two bickered, Ezra's eyes wandered again.

Man, the two just don't stop, do they? I guess Miss Lady-Knight wasn't joking about it, for sure. If words of simple reason do not work, perhaps intimidation? If anything, that should be my last resort. The moment I introduce more assertive intimidation into the situation, it's a make-it-or-break-it situation...

The redhead continued to submerge himself in deep thought as angry words filled the room, and for the most part, his presence faded as he continued to be more silent. That was, until he groaned. "Listen y'all, do you two want this to work? If not, do 'ya both want to keep bickering for all eternity? It's just a yes or no answer." Ezra retorted. His voice was less full of wisdom and more full of irritation.

    JUST WANNA HAVE SOME FUN
The cheeky grin on her face only intensified as the man’s expression grew more and more irritated, an exhausted expression appearing on his face. She was right – this was no Sorano. But then again, he actually had emotions, which probably played a big part in causing such a difference. It was interesting to watch as she played out possible reactions to the squabbling in her head – would he outright explode? Would he attempt to keep up with the logic and reasoning? Would he go for some other tactic she was not expecting? Or would he fail? It would be rather disappointing if that did end up happening, but she couldn’t rule it out as a possibility. After all, she herself had failed when trying to solve this problem – what was to say that this man wouldn’t? She watched as the lord finished his own speech and Ezra paused for a moment, as if gathering up the energy to say what he wanted to.

“Listen y’all, do you two want this to work?”

Oh yes. He was going this route, wasn’t he? Amusement played over her face as she watched the nobles’ expressions contort in reaction to how rude he must seem to them. Treating them like children… It was a tactic she had tried many times over the course of her life, and it almost never worked – that much she knew. Treating them like children would only increase their irritation, but it might take them off their argument for a bit. It would certainly change their target from each other to this “parent” figure that had just popped up. Time to sit back, and watch the fireworks.

Some lord stood abruptly, sword clanking noisily against the edge of the table and turned to face Ezra, fury in his gaze. “Are you suggesting that we are simply…bickering? Do you think that this issue is just a children’s tussle? This is a great issue among us nobles that a simple common mage like you simply could not understand!” His tone was sharp and snappish as he puffed his chest up in indignation. “As much as I loathe to admit it, he is correct,” a lady snapped, standing as well. “Someone like you simply cannot understand the systems among those of such ranking as us, and thus you are most unfit to be a mediator in this issue. Do you not grasp the severity of this? The shame that these men bring upon us by insulting our very blood? My ancestors are positively rolling in their graves at such outlandish words! How dare you!” By now, their attention slowly moved away from one another, instead twelve prim and angry gazes landing on the werewolf.

Playing Hooky [Ezra's Ace Exam] Empty Re: Playing Hooky [Ezra's Ace Exam]

Ezra was truly amused by the man and woman's response. It truly was a pitiful situation. The redhead tried his best to keep himself from bursting out in a fit a laughter and remained rather neutral. His slipped his hand over his mouth and tapped the table, listening attentively.

"Look lad, lassie, I'm gonna be honest with ya." Ezra cautioned, "This is one of the most pitiful things I've ever seen in my days. I see now that basic reasoning is something beyond you all, it is far beyond what you all need."

Reason was no longer of use in this building. Being called a mediator put misleading expectations upon this redhead. Typical ways of mediating things often included "talking it out" or coming to a resolution both parties could agree two. But both methods often required reason, and it was something these parties did not have. And because of that important factor, a different resolution must be created.

"Miss," Ezra turned to Merith with an expression of disappointment and defeat, "these men and women are beyond reason and mediation. You are running an organization meant to keep the peace within Cedar Town. It is an organization that also represents the Magic Council. 'Ya see, I came here 'thinkin it'd be a political problem, some foreign to me. But I was mistaken, truthfully it was a egotistical competition of power between two nobles that has split your ranks over some flowers. You have made the mistake of keeping them within your ranks, and it'll eventually lead to a corrupting policing organization." Ezra sighed, "Just now, this lad and lassie used their blood to justify a child's tussle. If these lads and lassies can't settle a dispute over flowers, how can they settle any other dispute over anything else in this town? The townsfolk rely on these men and women to protect them and settle disputes their own, but here we have the same men and women believing they are superior over anyone because of blood. It is a corrupted mentality that is inappropriate for the workplace."

Ezra spoke what he meant and believed. It was in these times that he didn't speak in his broken English as often. It was firm but tired. "What I suggest is dismissing them from your ranks and have the Magic Council send in replacements. What you have here are egotistical men and women who believe they start silly disputes like this, divide the Cedar Knights, and get away with it without any consequence as severe as their crime. That is my advice, anyway. Not all things can be settled with just an apology or a slap on 'ther wrists.
Such nobles have no right to work alongside you, hiding behind their titles to justify such disgusting behavior."
    Ezra huffed.

The redhead then turned to the group, "Y'all have it all wrong. Y'all can't say and do whatever you want without there 'being some sort of consequence. I'm afraid awarding you with having the Miss over her allow you to keep 'er jobs is far beyond your ideas. This town needs protecters, not people who threaten their safety."

And this was true. If these men and women thought that all arguments were handled by giving both sides what they want, they were far beyond wrong. Those who maintained peace would remove any threats to maintain that peace and order. Those who threaten disorder and chaos within an organization meant to maintain it should be removed. The two parties wanted control over everything. They wanted more respect than they deserved, they wanted to win arguments instead of settle them, and they wanted to control who even mediates their arguments. Hard-to-deal-with men and women needed a consequence just as hard-to-deal-with.

    JUST WANNA HAVE SOME FUN
Now, Merith had expected many, many things to happen. Yet, the man’s next actions were most certainly nothing like what she had pictured in her head. While it had started out something as expected, with the mage stating that he felt such a sight was pitiful and that reasoning wouldn’t work, she was tempted to agree out loud and wholeheartedly. However, she was keeping herself neutral, acting as some sort of back-up mediator if things got too out of hand. She could manage to distract them for a bit, bring a temporary peace, but nothing long enough to satisfy her. If this person failed… She’d be back at square one. Ugh. That was not something she looked forward to. Oh well… Eventually, she too would end up retiring. Someday, she would be free of these idiots, but until then, she had her duty to the Magic Council to fulfill. Another sigh dropping off her lips, she straightened her back and curled her lips in anticipation.

Unfortunately, it seemed that her wish would not be granted anytime soon, as he began rattling off the beginning of what seemed like a rather long speech, talking about the stupidity of the situation in similar terms. Still, jeezus, this guy could actually talk when he wanted to. While he looked somewhat like some semi-educated mage who specialized in brute force at first, she was pleasantly surprised to find that he had a decent vocabulary and admirable public speaking skills. Perhaps Sorano had made a logical choice indeed. He slowly began to indicate with his movements and speech that he was coming to the “final verdict”, and hardened his words, tired but determined.

“What I suggest is dismissing them from your ranks and have the Magic Council send in replacements.” What? Her head jerked up in shock, not having expected such a bold and outspoken move. What? Sure, she had dreamed many times of ridding the ranks of these lords and ladies, but at the time, the world had been extremely biased towards those of noble blood. They had been necessary to keep the peace. But now…? Maybe, just maybe, it could work. Ignoring the infuriated squawks of those around them, Merith stood up shamelessy and randomly tossed her arms around the redhead in a sloppy hug. “You are a genius, sir. Thank you very much.” With that, she promptly pulled out an iLac, promptly entering the commands to the Magic Council.

Sometimes, perhaps a more drastic measure was needed to keep the peace.
