Primary Magic: The Forbidden Fruit-Eater
Secondary Magic:
Caster or Holder: Holder
Description: Once upon a time, there was a woman who had fifty daughters, all born of the earth. Together, they took care of a beautiful garden that had long ago belonged to the goddess Hesione. One day however, the mother declared that it was time for them to pass on, having been curators for over five centuries. She refused to make the immortality elixir that had kept the females alive and youthful for so long. Frightened by the concept of death, the daughters conspired to slay their mother and afterwards stole the unfinished batch of elixir that the woman had begun making before her decision to cease being a guardian of the walled off eden. The females were safe for one week, but before the time could even pass, all but one of them killed themselves out of shame and guilt for what they had done. The fiftieth daughter, not knowing the formula for the immortality potion but unwilling to give up at her chance for eternal life, ravaged the garden and ate of every plant, vine, and tree that she knew not to be lethally poisonous (in the hopes that she might fall upon the components to create the drink). As a caretaker of the land, however, she had been forbidden to consume anything within the garden aside from the proper things required for the full elixir. This broken vow, in combination with the mysterious things she had taken into her body, turned Lark into the avatar of the Forbidden Fruit-Eater: immortal and completely wretched, both in appearance and spirit.
Her transformation did grant her powers beyond any kind of possibilities her imagination had ever entertained. But most importantly, it gave her the ability to call souls back from the dead, which thereafter was abused when she dragged every single one of her forty-nine sisters from the world of peace they had settled into. Lonely but fearful of both her mother even in death and also simply of passing on, Lark refused to listen to their pleas to just give up her renouncement of salvation and to instead join them. To compensate for her lack of companionship, she bound her sisters' souls to rusted metal keys that had once unlocked different sections of the guarden, unknowingly turning them into celestial spirits. Still, there was something that bothered her to the utmost degree. Despite all the power that the fruit had given her, it had twisted and mangled her appearance until the girl was nowhere near recognizable as anything even remotely human. One of her sisters, who thought herself sly and had been called Daisee in her lifetime, suggested a spell that could seal away the magic of the fruit and therefore take away the horrifying appearance which Lark had assumed. She immediately agreed, but rather than being freed as the sister had hoped, the forty-nine females were left bound to the keys forever. Returning to the spirit world even left them unable to interact with any sentient beings aside from each other, Lark, and occasionally (it was later found) somebody near the girl. So they clung to their now very mortal sister and swore to protect her.
Celestial Spirit magic is unique in that unlike other summoning, it depends solely on keys to operate. The Forbidden Fruit-Eater involves invoking a particular sister's name and domain, and after doing so Lark is able to receive help from that sibling. Although she does have fifty garden keys in all, only forty-nine have spirits tied to them (as one was her own at some point) and not all of the girls will willingly assist or communicate with her, usually on account of great anger. Regardless, all keys are kept on an iron ring that hangs from around her left wrist, almost like a bracelet filled with keys instead of charms; it is light in weight, but heavy on the soul. This magic also allows the user to take on duels with something like a numbers advantage, and since there is no particular fighting style associated with the Forbidden Fruit-Eater, the magic is equally proficient or mediocre in defense, offense, and support. Furthermore, the sisters do love their living sibling, but each has her own goals that she wants Lark to accomplish, therefore kind of living vicariously through the mage. It is also worth mentioning that they rarely take orders that go against their own interest and treat all commands like suggestions (which they also often consider worthless).
Strengths:
# {A}utomatic numbers advantage in a lot of previously even fights
# {M}oral support can be offered to Lark through verbal encouragement
# {N}ot really weak in anything as a whole, at least comparing different areas in combat
Weaknesses:
# {N}o inherit elemental strengths
# {R}ange is completely dependent on each spirit
# {N}ot special or unique in what it brings to a group fight (i.e. does average damage, not so tanky, etc.)
# {T}he spirits don't care about allies aside from Lark herself
Lineage: Aspect of Terra
Unique Abilities:
# {C}orrupting Touch: Lark never could hide her sins completely: from eating the fruit, matricide, and dragging her sisters away from their eternal rest. This taint within her spreads whenever she uses her powers, causing all magic of her own to act as if it were ranked one higher. This does not have any affect on damage and instead only changes how her magic interacts with mages and other magic.
# {T}hrough the Grapevine: All things within 20/35/50/65/80/105 meters can be heard (only heard) by Lark.
# {W}ild Growth: All plant life nearby can be petrified and used as a melee weapon for one post that deals spell ranked damage according to the MP used and has an appropriate minimum cooldown for that rank. MP consumed may not apply for spells of a greater rank than the user. (i.e. if Lark is D Rank and she uses Wild Growth, for the cost of 15% MP she can petrify a nearby branch that will deal D Rank damage, with a 2 post cooldown).
