Escaped Convict
You have ten minutes, Hiro heard himself say. Was he really going to allow this man time to watch their daughter? Seemed almost creepy, but the man seemed genuine enough. And don't try anything funny. I'll be watching.
The man gave a small bow and a thank you. The two careful approached the property, making sure to stay out of the light, that shown from the large front window. Harrison knelt down near the bush, making sure to stay out of line of sight from the two figures. Hiro peered in a little more to see it was two girls, one looked to be about Harrison's age while the other looked to be no more than eight.
He looked over to see Harrison's face have a large grin, while he could also notice his eyes getting watery. That your daughter? Hiro shifted a bit, asking the question. The man just gave a slow nod, still not taking his eyes off of his family. Why don't you go talk to them?
I can't face them. I'm a disappointment to them. Two years I've been gone. Look at my little girl, she's so grown up. I missed all of that. Harrison replied, trying to keep himself composed.
Well then there's no point in staying away any longer. Come on. He grabbed the man's arm and dragged him through the yard. Hiro gave a few knocks on the door, nothing too loud but just enough to get their attention. A woman opened the door, her pink nightgown gently blowing as the door opened.
Hello can I help y- she froze, looking past Hiro's shoulder. Harrison is that you?
Daddy?! a voice shouted from inside.
Hiro stepped out of the way as Harrison sheepishly approached. I'll give you guys some time. He stepped away from the convict and his wife, just as he saw the young child run to the door. The samurai reached the end of the property and leaned back on the typical white fence they had. It seemed so strange, just an average family and yet the father was in prison. Seemed strange to him.
He eyed around, making sure no one showed up before looking back at the family. He couldn't really hear what they were saying but it looked like they were happy.
The ten minutes are up, the demon voice spoke in his head, a gravely sound Hiro hated listening to.
Will you ever just leave me alone? I'm trying to do just a normal job for once.
We're here to get payed, not play Saint. I hate Saints.
I'm sure they hate you too Oni. Why are you even talking to me so much now. It used to be when you liked taunting me or something but now you seem to just like throwing in your two sense.
Ever since you accepted me as being one with you, I am now able to speak more freely and take even more control of you, that is when I have enough strength. So I suggest you stop meditating.
Over my dead body, Hiro scoffed.
That can be arranged, Oni replied with extreme seriousness.
We'll discuss this later, he's coming back. Harrison arrived back to the edge of the property. His eyes were a bit puffy and dry from tears. You ready? He gave a nod in response.
The two men walked almost silently back to the prison before Hiro spoke up. So exactly how long are you in for?
He gave a deep sigh. Twenty five years.
Geez, what did you do? Harrison began to explain how he went one day to go get some medicine for his daughter one night when the shop he was in got robbed. He tried to step in and help the man but was just rendered unconscious. When he awoke, he was in the back of a magic counsel van. Apparently he was wanted for attemped robbery and murder.
My guess was that the person who robbed the place had memory alteration magic and made me look like the criminal. I haven't been able to clear my name since.
A little more time passed before they finally arrived at the prison. Well, I guess this is it. I'll see if I can look into clearing your name Harry. Until then, try not to run off again please. He gave a small nod before Hiro handed him off to the authorities.
The demonic laughing rose up again. You won't find anything on the man. You'll fail him and his family.
Watch me.
