The two lovers clashed for a title. Something so trivial as it lacked any real power with it. To become a wizard saint, what was the point of it if it didn't come with the trust of the people, the respect of the nation, and the freedom to finally do whatever you wanted. While many would consider it a position of advising and regulation of magical power that couldn't be further from the truth. it was a position which offered the bearer undying respect and trust from those within the nation as far as magical abilities went, it was a position which could be abused but also used to great length. Erika coveted the position, but not for the reason that many thought, instead it was to make herself free.

As the battle raged on, well not so much raged as drizzled, Izayuki launched a vivid attack against Elyx, to which he was crushed beneath it, shattering apart. This was the moment Eria had foreseen and the one in which she could make her move. Izayuki was broken right now at the realization or at least should have been if her divinations were correct. Either way now was the chance to strike her cunning plan. As the realization would dawn on Izayuki, that is when Erika would move in, her multi-colored hair swaying in the wind as a portal opened up behind her in a nearby location hidden behind one of the few trees. As she gazed around the bit of snow hit Erika's head and she smiled a bit, what a cold night that even the sky's tears were frozen.

Calling out towards where Izayuki was, Erika kept her smile as she realized this was Era, the home of the rune knights. Erika's time spent serving with them as Lissica was about to pay off as she knew who some of the more notorious criminals were in the city, and just what districts she could target for her future endeavor.

"Good evening little Bakedanuki, I see you are in a bit of a pickle, care you entertain my notions, like you just did your husbands, or should I say former husbands."

Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ S Rank

    “Is THIS what you wanted?”

The bitter words instantly filled the Bakedanuki’s ears, and struck deeper than any dagger or blade ever could. They were sharp, and within heartbeats, Izayuki realized what she had done. Her greed and selfishness; she had wanted this fight, not for a title- she could care less about just a word like ‘saint’ that humans who lived in Fiore could call her. She was already a wizard; why add saint? To prove herself to both her former teacher and current husband… she wanted to prove her power and strength not only to him, but to herself as well. After the recent encounters with Alice, Seika, Yukionna, and Kemuira… she was proven again and again to be far too weak, easily beaten down.

    Well… not anymore.

In return for that, however, she had to beat someone else down. Why did it have to be him? She only wanted the strongest mage known to man to battle her seriously, and the reward of keeping or the failure of losing the title should have been motivation. Only, the first God of Ishval was her husband, and when it came time to actually fight, he rejected the idea, and even offered her his title.

Despite that, she had pressed for the battle, allowing his words to fall on deaf ears as she continued to attack him. Why could this not have been a fun rematch, a spar like long ago, when she had first joined Black Rose. Why did he have to reject her? Was she still just a weakling in his eyes? Could he really not take her or her power seriously?

As she desperately pushed to prove herself, he had gone on the defensive, not throwing much in her direction. She told him to fight seriously… and what had he done?
He suicide-dove right into her fray of ice shards. With his strength and speed, they could have easily been avoided, so why did he have to end the battle like this? If he were truly strong, why could he just not knock her down? At least he would prove that his power was greater than hers, and she had yet to grow strong enough to face someone like him.

The way it all played out was frustrating, but as her attack impale him, ripping his body to pieces as he put up no defenses against it, pink eyes widened in shock and horror. He stood before her, bleeding and freezing from the attacks, with a simple look of pure anger in his usually-calm brown eyes.

    Was this what she wanted?

His body shattered into a million pieces; all quickly vanishing almost as soon as they appeared, leaving no trace of his existence behind. As she witnessed this, Izayuki crumpled to her knees with his words sinking in even deeper, striking at her heart. Her hands squeezed the snowy ground beneath her as tears began to pool in her pink eyes. Had she really wanted this?

    Why?
The reason and determination from before was beginning to vanish as sobs began to wrack her body, and the warm tears fell, falling to the ground and breaking up tiny particles of snow. What would happen now? She had won… but not fairly at all. It was not her fault to have killed him, and in no way looked like it. He had thrown himself into the range of fire, and with that act, the shock trumped almost all of her emotions, except for her soul-crushing regret and despair.

It was only a few seconds after Erika spoke that her words were acknowledge by Izayuki, who had, for the most part, missed them. Who was she?
Drowning in her heavy emotions, the Bakedanuki attempted to sit herself upright and glare towards the pink-and-brown-haired girl. Whatever it was… she was not here to give her condolences or go off on the Youkai for what she had done. All that Izayuki could detect, despite her unstable state, was only negative. “Leave me,” she demanded in a soft, but stern voice. It was really only an exterior illusion, a mix of shapeshifting and angling perception. She was broken underneath, and not speaking, though on the outside, the words could be seen and heard. What else could be said? Nothing, really. Not in her grief.

"Leave you? Like you just left your husband by shattering his body into pieces? Or perhaps when you tortured your daughter and left her on the ground bleeding? See I would listen to you but well... why listen to a murderer?"

Chuckling a bit Erika walked with a bit of swagger in her step a tad bit closer to Izayuki. The girl was clearly distraught and Erika was getting increasingly excited over her distress though it didn't show on her face; she loved this sort of despair that radiated from those she had her sights set on, but perhaps that was just her cold and cruel heart weaving itself around her own mind like a vine. One day she would need to confront such a black mistress, but today she would use its power to try and get Izayuki to snap. Creating some lacrima cameras out of thin air Erika would make sure that Izayukis reaction would be broadcast and what Erika was going to do as well would be shown. She didn't wish to just break Izayuki, she wished to also show the world just how malevolent she could be.

"Come on now, though, I mean you don't have to be so sad since after all..."

With a bit of reality bending, Erika made her voice blend with Elyx's and her appearance have him imposed but also transparent over Erika's own body.

"You are so adorable when flustered Iza, and you even got what you wanted all along, the position of the strongest wizard, good job."

Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ S Rank

Izayuki froze as she listened to Erika’s words. How did she know about all of that? Naturally, the ordeal concerning her present action was obvious, but how did the pink and brown haired girl know about Astrid… and that she was her daughter? Nobody knew that except the Bakedanuki.

Pink eyes widened as the words began to sink in. Just who was this person? How did she aquire the knowledge she had, without sifting through the Ayakashi’s memories. Usually, she was adept at sealing those off… yet she did not feel or notice a thing. How did the woman find the information, if not for that more obvious way?

The woman was right. She was a murderer, and Elyx was not even the first to die by her hands and reckless actions. Long ago as she trained under Yukionna, and even while just a casual member of Black Rose, she was no stranger to killing. She would give a warning, and should an enemy persist, she refused to hold back. Even in this case, she had not held back; she felt obligated to prove her strength to her husband. She never knew that it would take his life.

Why he dove into the flurry of ice shards, she could not understand. Nor could she grapple with the idea while the strange woman began to move closer, forcing Izayuki to try to stand herself up in a weakened manner. She failed to notice the cameras. The shock and horror was still rushing through her body, along with the adrenaline and cortisol from the short-lived fight. Once again, she gazed up from the snowy ground to glare back at the woman, only to see the form of the familiar brunette man with brown eyes, a tall build, and old-fashioned attire, shadowing the figure of the woman.

Was this how the world avenged him? Did karma actually exist?
    Of course not.

The woman was obviously toying with her somehow. How exactly she could muster that power, Izayuki could not understand. Nevertheless, the following words brought back that nostalgic scene: Elyx playfully teasing her as she would grow increasingly flustered over his carefree taunts, jabs, and coddling. She would never forget those words, as he used them more than only once.

How dare this person mock his memory and image like that? With a bright crimson color flashing in her once-pink irises, Izayuki lunged forward, powered by instinct and her unstable emotions of darkness. She had her claws on her right hand flexed, and dashed towards the woman with Swiftstep, which acted more as a teleport. Once she was a few feet away from the woman, she would muster as much speed and strength as she could to slash at the woman’s neck- a vital place. There was no need for words. Only action. Never would she allow someone who would desecrate such a memory and image of a dearly beloved, and departed, to live.

Yes, that was it the words had cut deep into the Tanuki, they had seared her soul a charcoal and blotted out the sun in her heart. The hatred that Erika could feel wafting off of the girl was so malicious that it was starting to rival Erika's own. She must have really hit a nerve with that comment, and it was just so oh so perfect that she had. With a flurry of rage Izayuki would try and strike out towards Erika, her claws sharp and her movements without mistakes. If she had fought this well against Elyx she might not have killed him, but instead merely defeated him, then again even powered by her rage Izayuki was making a mistake. She had probably wondered why Erika knew about Astrid, but she probably didn't anticipate that Erika had captured and struck a deal with Astrid.

Such was the fate of the mother now to repeat the sin she had just done, but this time with the daughter. Murder, was just the way that Erika said hello after all, and she didn't wish to be rude and not greet her guest in her little game. Attempting to manifest Astrid right in front of her, Erika had a backup plan in case she wouldn't walk through the portal that Erika had created in the plush hallway of safety. This was the moment that would ensure that Izayuki would have doubt cast on her and make everyone question her methods, this would attempt to ruin her chances for Wizard saint... or so everyone would think. Erika had a plan, a plan which made such a tiny little idea pale in comparison.

Post by Guest 28th February 2017, 8:29 pm

And while you are sitting indoors
waiting for the storm to pass
I will be outside dancing in the rain

How did one go about waiting for death?
Astrid had never thought about it before, it was a dreary concept she didn't care much for. Rather death was the one who usually pursued her, surprising her when she least expected it, but not enough quite yet for her to fall victim to it. She had been very close a number of times already, managing to escape by the skin of her teeth, and sadly never unharmed. But what was she supposed to do when she was aware of death, staring it right in the face even?
After her and Erika's fever dream-like exchange the ace followed the woman's instructions and went back to the room she had awoken in, picking a corner of the white, cushioned abyss and nudging herself as far as she could into it, tucking her head and limbs as close to her chest as humanly possible. It was the only thing she could think to do. It was the only thing she could do.
The slayer had a lot of time to think in the quiet room, awaiting for whatever it was Erika would eventually do to signal to her it was time to go and put the plan into action. But her thoughts never went anywhere. It was already everything she had thought about when in front of the thread mage, weighing on her offer. By now she was going around in circles, every moral clashing with every spec of want and desire the musician tried so hard to convince herself she didn't have. She never had thought she would fall prey to greed, but when she thought about the various reasons why she set out on this adventure in the first place, she understood why she had. She told herself it was because she wanted to help people, but that was only ever half of it. There was much, much more. She wanted to prove herself to her mother. No, not Izayuki. She had not known the tanuki was somehow related to her until fairly recently. Violet. Her mother, her birth mother. The one who had raised her. She could not remember the last time Violet smiled, or even looked her way. All Astrid could remember from her childhood was the constant want for her mother to look at her, not through her like she usually did, like she wasn't there. It wasn't until she was older did the ace understand why. Her mother had been broken for a very long time, ever since her own mother had died when she was just a child. And having a deaf child? It was more than she could handle, to the point where when the young mage turned five she sent her away for her grandfather to deal with, tossing her aside like unwanted trash on garbage day. Because of her disability she was seen as a handicap, a burden to the Foss woman. For Erika to suddenly offer her the ability to rid herself of the handicap? What made everyone baby her? What made her weak? The thing that made her mother abandon her? How could she not accept it? Maybe once her mother saw that she no longer had the disability she would accept her. Maybe she would finally give her the motherly love she has been so desperately searching for for so many years.
She had to do this, for herself. For once in her life she wanted to be greedy, after so many years of giving and getting nothing in return.
For once she was doing something for herself.

She didn't know how long it was she stayed like this, curled up in the corner, thinking over her life choices. In this all white room it might as well be another dimension where time didn't exist. The only thing to ever change in the room, was when a low humming sound rose up from out of nowhere, interrupting her thoughts. Gaining a sickening feeling she knew what it was going to be the silvernette was slow to rise her head from her knees.
A blue portal swirled to life on the wall just beside her. How did she guess? She remembered the sound from when Erika used the same portals to pull her into this room. Now, it only served as a reminder for what got her into this situation in the first place.
Except now, instead of being a portal of mystery, it was a portal of death. She knew what would happen once she stepped through it. She would die, by the hands of her supposed 'mother'.
Again the threat of death was hanging over her, and only now she was realizing it once more. Of course it wasn't permanent. Erika promised her a new body after the deed was done. But after so many experiences of almost dying she was hesitant about feeling that pain again. Was it going to be swift and quick? Or slow and painful? That was the only part of the situation she didn't have any control over, and it was the one thing she wished she did. She didn't want to have to stare up at Izayuki and watch what she would do to the guild master, she did not want to look at what she was going to create from her death. She was already guilty about it all, seeing the god slayer's pained face would only make it worse...

... She was hesitating. This wasn't good. She could feel her muscles fighting against her, instinctively trying to back herself more into the corner away from the portal of death. But she could not do that. Not now. If she didn't go through with it Erika would surely be angry at her. And with the amount of power she held? Astrid didn't know what she would do, but it wouldn't be pretty, whatever it was. Dying at Izayuki's hands... Or dying at Erika's. Which one was more horrifying? That should be obvious.
Though lightheaded with fear the dragon slayer rose to her feet, staring into the blue portal in front of her. She just didn't have to think about it. That was it. If she didn't think about anything this would make everything easier. She told herself that, but the more she did, the more she thought about it. The pain of dying. The pain of her actions.
    Small fists clenched.
She was being stupid. It was too late. She had gone through with this. She agreed. It was either with her own free will or without. She was going to die either way. But at least with being controlled she wouldn't have this much trouble convincing herself to go in.
    "Do it!"
The inner thought screamed within her head.
And without another thought, she took the first step, forcing herself into the swirling vortex of doom.

She closed her eyes the minute she entered the portal, so she could not say what had happened. One minute she had been in the white room, the next, she was staring at the sky.
It was gray, no sun in sight. Only gray with darker gray clouds scattering across it. But why was she staring up at the sky? She had gone through, backed by the white room no longer existing around her. But if she had gone through where was Erika? Where was Izayuki? Where was their plan?
She tried to move, curious to see if maybe the portal had transported her to the wrong location. But when she did, she found that she could not move.
Strange. No matter how hard or how much she wanted to lift her arms, legs, or head she simply could not. There was no feeling. She could not even feel where they were in relation to her body anymore. It was almost as if they did not exist.
    What was wrong with her?

What the girl did not understand, was that she had indeed been transported to the correct location. The plan had indeed succeeded. The reason she could not move her body or feel anything, was because she was dying. Izayuki's sharp claws had made swift contact with the mage's throat, sending her to the floor instantly upon arriving in between the space where Erika and Izayuki were fighting. She was bleeding out. Slowly. Her body had to yet catch up with everything, since it happened so fast. It was unable to process such speeds, such pain.
Crimson blood spilled from the open wound, pooling around the motionless girl every second it was allowed to run freely. All she could do, was stare up at the sky, and wonder why it looked as though it was about to cry.

Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Black Rose ♦ S Rank

Blind rage and raw instinct drove the rosy-haired Bakedanuki forward. She seethed with anger over the fact that the pink and brown haired woman would dare to mock Elyx’s image. He had just died at Izayuki’s hands, and this person had only appeared in order to taunt and thwart the remorseful Youkai.

Dark claws were flexed and readily and steadily aimed at the woman, despite the immense fury of the Ayakashi. Izayuki snarled in rage, unable to control her instincts reacting to the mocking actions of the woman. Her attack was launched violently, and satisfaction rippled through the canine as she felt her claws meet a solid neck, and instantly sink in deeply. The warm blood on her fingers began to sooth some of the madness, and she took a deep breath to take in the enticing scent… why was it so familiar?

Pink eyes widened as they realized what had transpired… it was not that evil woman at her claws, but a familiar being with silver hair and red eyes. Her daughter.

    “Astrid…?”

The body of the dragon slayer would fall to the ground as Izayuki could only stare in horror. How had she done this? Why was it Astrid who had gotten hurt instead of the woman who had mocked the fallen Wizard Saint? And why was Astrid even daring to protect this person?

“W-Why…?” Izayuki stuttered, looking on in disbelief with dilated pupils as she crumpled to her knees once more, with nothing else to gaze at other than the body of Astrid, which was just about lifeless. Was this some trick or illusion? It could not be; the blood on her hands, and the smell, along with the sight, were all too real. Snapping back to reality, and into action, Izayuki summoned a bright golden orb in her hand - tiny and warm, and meant to heal the fatal injury of her daughter’s. As she tried to pull her daughter into her arms, however, and apply the healing Carroll spell, the horrible and terrifying truth began to become transparent. It was too late. “ASTRID, NO!”

Astrid was dead. She had killed her own daughter.

The truth began to grow on the Bakedanuki, and as the painful realization hit, tears welled up in her eyes once more as a sob shook her body. There were no more words to be said. Instantly, Izayuki opened her mouth as a sharp and long cry tore from her lips. Elyx was gone. She had killed him. Astrid was now gone too… her only family, all gone in one night, both finished off by her own hands. The fact left the tanuki screaming and crying as she tightly held Astrid’s body, hugging it close as it began to grow as cold as the earth around. All around her, her magic began to remove itself from her control- staining the snow around her black, sending out a new sheet of obsidian-hued ice, and making the air generate a giant flurry of darkness-infused snow and ice within the vicinity of a hundred yards or more.

Nothing could silence the despair of the Glacier God Slayer.

    "Oops."

Was all Erika said as the cries left Izayuki. Sadly to Erika these cries were only slightly cheerful since she had to complete another part of her task and make sure that the Tanuki didn't appear completely as the villain. While it would be great to shame a newly promoted Wizard Saint and guild master, Erika needed her in those positions for future plans. She would have to just give up on ruining her life completely, for the time being, such sorrow filled Erika's heart at that thought, but her grip need not be any tighter.

Too lazy to go back and read to see if Iza destroyed the cameras, Erika spawned a few more in order to sure there was a more live broadcast. The city of Era off in the distance, filled with bright lights and happy homes was about to get a bit of a rude awakening. Due to her time in the rune knights, Erika knew about Era and where some nefarious people worked. In a way, her atrocities would help out the city more than hamper, but it was still murder, and that worked well for her, for the time being. Creating threads within the city and making sure to have camera's to broadcast the violence, Erika manifested them out of the very material the houses were made out of and would position them to strike her key targets, no more than a few thousand, but it would do. No need to go overboard, just to fire some warning shots.

    "Good people of Fiore..."

Erika stated one of the camera's floating over towards her, capturing both the visual and audio.

"before you lies a broken Wizard saint, who believes she killed two people precious to her. Many would believe that she did, but it wasn't her, it was me, Erika Skittles. The real one who interfered with her match and made Elyx fall and die, shattering. it was I who made the girl who Izayuki is clutching die, and it is I who shall..."

With a clenching of her fist, Erika let a satisfied grin on her face slip out. All of the targets in the town she had, all of the footage she was getting, it was their bloody endings. Crushed within the threads they screamed or popped without much reaction. It would look like a horrible scene to those who had a conscious, but all Erika could think was how merciful she was towards them, as the deaths had been quick.

"Simply strike out and end anyone's life that I desire. None of you are safe, your government is weak, your leaders are foolish, and your homes are wide open. Enjoy your peaceful existence while you can, I won't be merciful towards any of you when the time comes."

Ending the broadcast, Erika made sure all the camera's vanished and then sigh a bit. Izayuki was probably still just crying like a little baby, because of how 'dead" all of them were. If she was too broken she couldn't be used, and Erika didn't wish for Astrid to despise her, so it would be good to reveal a bit of truth to the Tanuki.

"Cheer up Izayuki, Astrid isn't dead forever, then again I don't know if she will ever be yours again, but at least she is alive, and your husband shall revive in but a few days. Thank you for the entertainment and usage of your weakness, I shall look forward to future dealings with you."

Erika would open up a portal and bow out of it to leave the area, her goals met.
