Job Title: Come out and play [GH]
Rank: C
Player Requirements: 150 wpp. 15 posts total.
Job Requirements: At least one Grim. One non-grim can tag along for each Grim, just not necessarily brought in for the job specifically. It's not like a notice board job, it's a mission given. Non-Grims can be in the area though or be involved in other ways.
Job Location: Anywhere that is a city, town, or village.
Job Description:
Eris has created several hundred small dolls and childrens toys by hand and has sent them out across Earthland to be delivered and distributed by the Cult of Sin. Someone somewhere however is hoarding the toys and preventing their delivery. The toys will do no good if they are held up in one spot, they need to be reclaimed and distributed properly. A Grim, or Grims, have been given the task through the Oracles at the Temple of the Undying to find the blockage and redistribute them.
Enemies:
Boss:
The Doll Collector-
The source of the problem. An eccentric individual has taken the shipment of toys and has been studying them. All the dolls are bound with anti-magic tags, similar to the clips placed in the ears of domestic farm animals, and kept in cages. The toys are animated and seem quite frustrated with their situation, shaking cages and banging against bars trying to be freed but unable to do anything overly special due to the tags.
Removing the tags will make them fight with you, under the control of the player who rolled it. The toys do seem intelligent and aren't just purely animalistic once the tags are removed.
Roll a monster dice and two number dice on each post after finding the Doll Collector (By post 5 at the latest). The Boss Dice does not dictate the Doll Collector's appearance, the Doll Collector appears by default at post 5 if not yet discovered.
The post total is only a minimum, the Doll Collector must be defeated before the job is complete.
The Monster Dice represents the category. The number dice represent a function.
The Doll Collector has 700HP and deals 30 damage with basic attacks that it can do at-will whenever it can in response to something or if in reach in addition to the attack that occurs with monster rolls. The Doll collector fights very evasively and will always attempt to flee to different rooms or buildings that it owns or is abandoned so it uses anyway.
Weak:
Even:
The Doll Collector attacks with two puppets that look like tissues wrapped over a small ball with faces drawn on. The 'tissue' fades the lower it goes and trails mist. These dolls can take 30 damage before being destroyed and will charge to deal 15 damage per hit for 30 damage total if both hit. They move at 30m/s and home in.
Double Even- The Doll Collector instead attacks with a single marionettette of one of the player characters. It copies the next three independent spells used and a the first Unique Ability listed in the magic app. Its speed, base unarmed damage, and MP are the same but it has 1/2 the HP up to 100 max.
Odd:
You find a toy rabbit that is trying to gnaw on the bars of its cage. It reacts neutrally to you and allows you to remove the tag by any means. Once un-tagged, the little stuffed rabbit bristles up, its fur becoming as needles and its eyes alight with flames. It has 30hp and will deal 20 damage on bite attacks, 10 physical and 10 fire damage.
Double Odd- You find the toy rabbit, but it enrages, becoming the size of an adult human while standing on its hind legs. It has 60hp and will deal 40 damage with flaming fists and spines that protrude from its fur.
Normal:
Even: The Doll Collector makes a small wicker doll appear in their hand and crushes it into a fine dust. Dealing an unavoidable 30 damage to the player who rolled this.
Double Even- The Doll Collector uses two hands to make a paper doll appear in their hands, it catches fire at the feet and slowly burns over the course of 1 post. For 1 post the player who rolled this is under the control of the Doll Collector, attacking the closest ally. If there is no ally, the attack is self-inflicted using their weakest damage dealing spell. If no damage dealing spell is available they use their unarmed attack damage. The controlled player feels as though their body is burning up, their skin even reddening as they take 20 fire damage.
Odd: You find a toy piggy. Removing the tag makes it sprout tusks and bristles as it moves at 40m/s to delver charging slam attacks and attempts to gore a target. It deals 35 damage on hits and will shake wildly to stab with its tusks for an additional 20 damage if it gets the opportunity, causing Bleed for 10 damage per post for 5 posts.
Double Odd- You find the toy pig, but it Enrages. it becomes 8 feet tall and bipedial with mounds of muscles and dressed in studded leathers. it grows long tusks that curl up and past its head to go down its back a ways before curling again to point up a bit. It attacks with its fists for 30 damage per punch but is mostly defensive. It will intercept attacks for you whenever possible, moving at 20m/s. A fire in its eyes sparks with every hit it takes. It has 100hp. It gains 5 damage on its punches whenever it takes damage.
Strong:
Even: The Doll Collector creates two small straw dolls with disturbing masks holding spears. They move at 30m/s and strike with spears for 20 damage. But the poisoned tips will deal an additional 10 damage per post for 5 posts. They have 40hp each.
Double Even- The Doll Collector creates a single large but slender figure that appears to be made of shadows with only a white mask and elongated limbs with white claws at the ends. It moves at 50m/s and makes claw rapid claw attacks in flurries of swipes dealing 10 damage each, with roughly two slashes per second, within 4 meters of reach. It has 60hp
Odd: You find a doll with thick yarn hair and button eyes. Removing the Tag makes it grow to the size of a child and its finger-less hands burst into prehensile strings and out from the hole in the hand made by the bursting appears to be a spine-like dagger of bone in both hands that it uses to make slashing attacks for 30 damage each, making two attacks in quick succession with them when in reach. It moves at 9m/s.
Double Odd- You find the doll, but it enrages. It becomes longer and slender. Its hair seems to become segmented like long fingers tipped with sharp points. Its button eyes become deep black voids with a soulless stare and two points of light like distant stars within. The doll can free the player character from the effects of Normal Even results, and normal Double Evens, by staring into the player character's soul and resonating with the same energy contained within the Pact Mark. It will stay near the player character and help ward off attacks, by lashing out with its spine like hair to gore the Dolls from Weak Even, but not Weak Double Even, negating the attack entirely while fighting normally against other threats.
The Doll Collector priorities the Enraged Doll.
Boss:
Even: The Doll Collector whistles and the ground shakes as something approaches. It appears to be a golem made from the flesh and bone of dozens of bodies of small children, who were apparently skinned and carved apart and sewn together to form the body of this golem, as obvious features, even faces, can be identified as both boys and girls were taken apart to create the monster. Its body opens up at the rib cages to reveal a large cavity within as it scoops the Doll Collector up and places it inside itself before closing back up.
The Doll Collector gains + 30 attack damage to its default attacks, and gains +200HP and 20% damage resistance. Even if flesh rots or is damaged away there's a heavy internal structure of bones for the same effect.
Double Even- Two golems appear. One takes the Doll Collector while the other mirrors the same stats and attacks.
Odd: You find a stuffed teddybear. Removing its tag makes it ignite on fire with its coal-like eyes as it attacks using fireballs with a 70 meter range, 40m/s speed, and 40 damage in 5 meter bursts. It has 70hp and moves at 15m/s
Double Odd- You find the teddybear, but it enrages. It becomes 5 meters tall (Or up to that if in confined space) and surrounded in flames. It deals 25 damage per post to enemies within 15 meters of it. It can attack by breathing fire in a 25 meter long 15 meter wide cone of fire for 30 damage to all in it, and can deal 50 damage melee claw strikes that both slash and burn. It has 150HP and gains 15hp and 5 damage to all attacks whenever the player who rolled takes damage.
Reward:
Gain a free Weak pet that doesn't take up a slot, that must be relevant to this job. Or 7,000 jewels.

Shadows stretched across a field of mist from the singular source of light beyond a veil of trees and fog as an enchanting melody spilled out from within the grove. A song was carried on eerie winds that rustled the few leaves on the dying trees, lulling the senses and beckoning curiosity. Grass and stones gave way into a field of bones old and new sunken into the earth and loose tumble and crunch under one's footstep, unnoticed as mortal souls were carried away enraptured by the melody, leading them through a stone arch inset with carvings and a rams skull which opened up to the clearing in the heart of the grove. A stone square on which steps rose up to a stone altar lit by the flames of two braziers to either side, four more in the corners of the stone square. Eight pathways spiraled out from the square leading to more archways filled with shimmering mirrors that reflected the altar scene. The song was coming from atop the steps, a crimson haired woman standing above the altar, arms animated as she worked something on the stone surface, singing as she worked. Stitching. A long ivory needle in hand caught the fire's light as a hand dipped to pierce her work again, and pull, a string tightening. The enchanted soul found its way to the stop, the woman looming above as she looked down with a peaceful smile to pick a young girl with caramel curls up in her arms, her song persisting as she laid her upon the altar beside what she was working on. The girl's sapphire eyes drooping with sleep as the song carried her into unconsciousness. It would not stop, as a finger traced down from the girl's collar bone, a thin red line welling up in its wake. Claws, keen and tipped in blood slipped through the red line, the woman's eyes closing as she hummed a voiceless portion of her siren's song, when the hand withdrew it carried with it an organ as red as her hand. The claws disappeared from her finger tips, the blood sliding off from her leaving cleanliness, as the heart hovered off from her palm, smoothly directed by a flowing motion over the creation beside the girl, a doll, sapphire eyes and caramel locks, to rest the organ inside fitting with ease, a perfect fit. Like it was made for it. The strings pulling themselves to a close sealing up the doll as the melody came to a close. • Eris held crystal glass in her hand, thick red liquid within as the glass shimmered as she lifted it to her stained lips, her eyes closed as though in thought. Her body impossibly still and her expressions impartial, the slow thoughtful sip passed and she slowly set the glass down on the white stone edge of the balcony upon which Eris overlooked the land of Sin, her eyes opening with slow deliberation to reveal the deep almost burning red glow of her intense eyes, a hint of knowing and purpose faintly tainting her composure, as though she were staring past it all a thousand miles into the horizon. Betrayal. It was felt across the world, the breaking of their pacts. It was not unseen, but it was as a moment that was in waiting, and expected. Death was on her mind, but in the coldness of her burning gaze Eris had purpose. Her thoughts were many, the webs of her design were cast wide with motions unseen and foretold. Things that demanded her attention, and things that did not. Time, Time however was in her favor. Her head tilted as with a light touch of her ring finger she tipped the glass over until gravity carried it the rest of the way, clinking solidly against the stone and casting its red liquid out across the railing and spilling out towards the floor, but it never reached that far. The blood welled and twisted, forming a ring in the air from which lines drew to shape a star. Warmth rose up from the circle as it began to take on a neon red glow. Gather them. She commanded, a whisper even in her mind as a link was established, an order rippling through the reaches of her influence. • A thin tendril of smoke flowed out of nothingness over a gilded high backed chair that loomed taller than necessary, thin and elegant in its design as it was. It cast a streaking shadow towards the far wall away from the fireplace, placed at an odd angle to one side. A matching chair mirrored its placement, but went unused as from the smoke the pale figure of Eris faded in before two others as they themselves arrived through wide double doors leading to the Hall of Attainment where many gathered before or after dealing with tasks of their own accord or by her direction, directly or through the Augurs in the other wing. In this room however Eris called the two with the intent to measure their use, the doors opening for them at the proper time, the same time she manifested herself for a timely meeting. It was not often that Eris called to speak to those who walked these halls directly. A few looks of jealousy were seen by those in the Hall among the Seekers and the servants, busy as it was. But there was no animosity here, a respect between the followers and the members who had chosen their place her independent of faith, to question who got to pass through those doors to the room Eris set apart for such meetings was to question Eris herself. For the few who were jealous, the same or others were impressed. Eris's molten eyes looked over the two when they entered, piercing and sharp as it was, as though viewing far more than their appearance, if she even cared about such. A soft feeling suggested that speaking would not be.... reverent, almost, but it was not long before her voice broke the quiet, filled only previously by the crackling fire behind her. "I have for you a task. A soul has broken their pact, and disrupted the workings of the plan. They have gone against their word, and in doing so cast themselves out from my favor. They live now as a madman, lost to rediscovery of the magic he has forgotten. He clings to stolen artifacts he was tasked with spreading among the living. This is what I desire of you. End him, recover the artifacts." Eris spoke, eyes falling to one of the newest to make a pact such as the one broken by who she must now hunt. "Yours, is to accompany her, be her guide and her ward in this, her first task." She said to the senior of the two, who had been among her ranks for far longer. Who would know that Eris did not make direct requests of her Grims unless something more was at work, who would know that Eris would be with them. Watching. Eris's form disipated into smoke as she vanished. Before them in her place a thin wisp of smoke seemed to materialize a letter, fiery words burning into parchment, smoldering before setting into rich black text. Details, a time, a location, a description, their target. To Albion Prime. |
