“Well actually to be entirely fair, I’ve been fishing since I was a child.” she finally admitted the reason why despite her lack of physical strength it seemed to be easy for her to perform this activity. For most of her life? Jiyu knew the only part that required true strength was killing the fish, otherwise, finesse and technique could be everything! Sadness clouded her gaze for a second as she could remember sitting in her father’s lap being taught when she was a very young child, before even her seventh birthday. Those days had been good one’s, they always dragged fish home for her mother and they were a real family, not the shattered remnants she had left behind nearly one decade prior. Briefly, she wondered if her father had woken up after she ran away, went back to the kind smith he had once been before her mother’s death, but she doubted this and blinked the sadness away with a chuckle. The past of no relevance now, she didn’t even carry the same name from those happy days, she had shed that long ago because she knew they were never coming back, nothing would ever be the same. Yet she had managed to find something of a happy place within Black Rose, a place she could feel as if she belonged again. Taking care of the Guild in any way she could, was something she enjoyed and one of her few goals expect for becoming a wizard saint and ending the man who murdered her mother even though no one from the village had believed he existed, she knew he was out there somewhere and still dangerous.
Yazuki brought up the Kraken and might be disturbed to hear his mentor chuckle sharply, her expression darkening slightly as she grinned at its mention. Winning this contest? Often relied on reeling in and catching that beast, thought maybe she should have mentioned to him earlier that they were going to fight the aquatic monster sometime during this. In the end, it would be his learning experience to never jump head strong into something with her without asking her for every detail she knew, or rather what she did not know. Often times? She would take missions just because she always had to be working and as her apprentice, he would be on a good deal of those missions. “Oh yes about that species, this place is infested it's why mages have to be present during this event.” she had gone back to her normal reassuring, happy and gentle smile, but her words did not quite match the smile, considering she just told him they would likely have to fight a dangerous mythical beast! ‘Actually I’m getting tired of waiting for the lazy beast, give me one second.” the wind user levitated into the air and lifted one hand bringing it down to generate tornadoes on top of the ocean which in turn sucked up water, trying hard to control the spell as to not to make a hurricane. Thus she stopped the spell prematurely and the gathered water poured back into the ocean making a few large waves.
Just when the waves from her spell stopped, rumbling began and the water started to break, the huge monster breaking out from beneath the waves. Jiyu had attacked the ocean surface to bring the Kraken to the surface. “Alright Yazuki, go beat it now, I’ll just watch, he’s not that hard an opponent.” said the a-class mage who had a tendency to over kill things and a skill for fishing, the mentor simply choosing to leave the opponent she had summoned to her apprentice, throwing him under the bus. Honestly, it was actually testing to make sure he would not be put in danger by following her into later missions where she could not control the conditions so easily as she could here. If he could beat the Kraken? Then she knew he would be safe even following her into portals that lead to unknown worlds.
