Magic
Primary Magic: Inner Beast Takeover
Secondary Magic:
Caster or Holder: Caster
Description: The Takeovers that Dax uses originate from within him, not just in a magical sense but in a mental one. Each is a split personality, each with extraordinary animal forms and their own division of his magic. The Inner Beasts are tethered to the latter such a way that using almost any magic causes one of the personalities to gain more influence; only his lineage spells aren’t tied to them this way. His different Forms have a different way of fighting, with different abilities that are better suited to different situations. Although it allows for quite a bit of variety, the mental divisions these magic causes are quite detrimental to the user’s sanity and stability. Although it is dangerous, it becomes quite potent.
The only Takeover Dax currently has use of is the form of Gavin, who embodies the spirit of wildness in his personality mixed with natural kindness and compassion. Appropriately, Gavin’s form is a gorilla, a nurturing and social creature with a side of anger and ferocity. Creating an Inner Beast results in a mental and physical battle that could tear the user apart. What happens on a physical level is determined by what happens inside, as the two personalities vie for dominance. It is a rarity for the original to lose, but if someone were to become too ambitious and make a Beast stronger than the rest of their mind could take on, or if the original were too unstable to function properly, then there is a fair chance that they lose. In the event of such an occurrence, the user’s magic would exhaust itself as the Inner Beast takes full control, rampaging until all that is left is an empty, decaying husk. The physical injuries are all self-inflicted, the body torn between fighting the two controllers and harming itself in an attempt to rid itself of the conflict. By carefully channeling his magic to certain parts of the body while allowing the respective personality to exert its power over him, Dax can transform parts of his body into that Form’s for a Partial Takeover. Using a Full Takeover, Dax relinquishes the majority of his control over his body to whatever division is exerting its magical influence. At such a point, the only thing he can do is give a prime directive and the Form does what it will to accomplish that goal. The transformations have very long cooldown periods due to their power.
Strengths:
The origin of the Forms leads to either strong specialization or broad generalization
Long durations allow for more effective combat over a longer period
Physical attacks are quite powerful
Weaknesses:
The Forms’ personalities take hold over the user’s mind when Takeovers are active, almost fully controlling the body during a Full.
Without emotional stability, the user may not be able to exert proper control over their Inner Beasts.
Long cooldowns prevent repeated usage of the Takeovers without proper recuperation time.
The risk of creating new Beasts is a real one that could result in the death of the user.
Unique Abilities:
Rage Stacks- Every time Dax receives an attack, he gains a Rage stack. To gain a stack upon being struck by the attack, it must be no lower than three Ranks of damage below him. Certain abilities can be used to gain additional stacks, but not all. He maxes out at ten Rage stacks, and the Rage stacks also augment all his Forms in some way, used as modifiers and buffs for abilities.
Dense Muscle- Because of the rigorous shifting he has endured, Daxtremis’ body has evolved to have very dense muscles throughout his body. His Strength and Speed both receive a 20% buff, +10% per Rank above D.
Animal Form Merge- The ability to shapeshift because of his lineage is deeply ingrained in him, and Dax has fully integrated it with his Inner Beast Takeovers. Using an Animal Form at the same time as a Partial Takeover will add 10% to all facets of the passive of that Partial, and this can apply for multiple Partials at once. This ability doesn’t do anything for Full Takeovers.

- Monkey King's Descent:
- Lineage:
Monkey King's Descent:
Description: The Monkey King, Sun Wukong, was a stone monkey given life. He learned supernatural abilities such as transformations and magic from Taoist (Daoist in modern) practices. He was immeasurably strong and fast, able to lift his 17,991lb staff with ease and somersault 33,554 miles. He knew 72 different transformations, his fur had magical properties that could make a clone of himself or various weapons, animals, and other objects, he knew spells that can command wind, part water, and freeze humans, demons, and gods alike. Despite his given life, he rebelled against the gods, and was banished into imprisonment under a mountain by the Buddha. During his rebellion, he was injured and his blood was spilled. A human collected the fresh blood and preserved it. Many years later, in order to cure himself from a vicious disease, he drank the blood. Saving his life, he continued to live with superhuman strength and speed. Yet the true aspects of the blood remained dormant, and would awaken in future generations who carried his blood.
Ability: The user is able to transform into animals or objects. The user's strength and speed are increased by 25%. When in an animal form they gain a 50% boost instead.
The user is able to use One D rank wind spell of any type, and One C rank Ice spell for freezing enemies. (Created in the magic app as a normal spell would)
Usage: The strength and speed bonus are a passive. While in animal form the user may still use magic but it only lasts 5 posts and has a 6 post cooldown.

This ability doesn’t do anything for Full Takeovers.
Spells:
- Gavin:
- Alpha Arms:
- Name: Alpha Arms
Rank: D
Type: Takeover, Support
Duration: 3 posts
Cooldown: 4 posts
Description: Usually, but not always, Alpha Arms is initiated with a couple pounds of his normal fists against his chest before Dax extends his arms and dark green magic circles appear, going up both of his arms to his shoulders. As they pass, his arms are morphed into those of some massive primate. Silver muscled trunks that belong to a body much unlike his, with almost shimmering silver fur and hands that look like they could pulverize boulders. They look unwieldy and cumbersome when compared to his small frame, but he can use them just as proficiently as an actual gorilla if not better. The arms disappear when the user loses 25% of their health.
Passive: Gavin’s arms are far more powerful than any normal human’s, acting as incredible weapons capable of tremendous destruction and they are the offensive bread and butter of Gavin’s Form. The arms allow for completely proficient climbing, swinging, and other, similar maneuvers. They also grant the user a 30% buff to Strength.
Active: Pummel- Alpha Arms allows for some very practical uses, but a favored one will always be that to relentlessly pummel their opponent like dual, motor-powered sledgehammers. The primate arms clasp their hands together and slam down onto their opponent, dealing D-Rank spell damage. The user can consume up to three Rage stacks to grant additional melee attacks, dealing 50% D Rank spell damage per hit. Both the primary attack and the secondary attacks are still given whatever passive bonus the user has, including that of Alpha Arms. Pummel has a 4 post cooldown.
Strengths:
Very high Strength buffs
Pummel is a powerful attack when used with Rage stacks
User gains proficiency with arm-based maneuverability
Weaknesses:
Strictly close range
Solely focused on Strength
Pummel is little more than a powerful, single attack without Rage stacks
Smaller damage threshold
- Jungle Strider:
- Name: Jungle Strider
Rank: D
Type: Takeover, Support
Duration: 3 posts
Cooldown: 5 posts
Description: A firm stomp is all that is required to start Jungle Strider, and a dark green magic circle will envelope the user’s lower body to transform it into that of Gavin. Human legs are transformed into gorilla hind arms, and his agility is increased tenfold. Combined with the arms, it can be used to run on all fours in a dead sprint almost exactly like the animal he imitates, but without them Jungle Strider has quite a reduced benefit. Once the user has depleted 30% of their health, +5% per 2 Rage stacks, the legs go on cooldown.
Passive: The increased muscle mass and versatility of the new arms provides a valuable boost to the user’s speed and maneuverability. When active, Jungle Strider gives +20% to Speed; however, if it isn’t active at the same time as Alpha Arms, this bonus is cut to +10%, as the four legged sprinting doesn’t work with human arms. What would normally be his kicks now get a +25% bonus to damage.
Active: Gorilla Charge- Jungle Strider allows the user to make a dash like Gavin’s animal form would, but only if his Alpha Arms are active at the same time. This charge gives a +20% speed for one post and an attack made using the dash gains +25% damage. It has a 6 post cooldown.
Strengths:
Powerful bonus to damage and Speed
Even further strengthened attacks and movement with Gorilla Charge
Weaknesses:
Reliant on Alpha Arms for much of its speed
Gorilla Charge has a long cooldown that can prevent multiple usages of it, even with multiple uses of Jungle Strider
Equally reliant on Alpha Arms for the use of Gorilla Charge
Jungle Strider has a longer cooldown than most
- Gavin's Core:
- Name: Gavin’s Core
Rank: D
Type: Takeover, Support
Duration: 3
Cooldown: 5
Description: The user lets out a roar unlike any human as their torso is covered with a large, dark green magic circle. The inside of the person begins the transformation before the outside, leading to a swell of normal flesh that is quickly enveloped by the fur coat and leathery skin of an ape. The most out of place aspect, not including the size, is the slightly glowing white crystal in the center of the gorilla’s leathery chest. More than any other gem, it is reminiscent of diamond, but it has a quartz-like coloration inside, and it wards off any shadow that would normally fall on it. As the Form becomes more damaged, the diamond grows brighter. This spell is the biggest increase to size of all the Partials involving Gavin, and also provides the most resilience.
Passive: The sheer mass added by the transformation, combined with the heartiness provided by the tougher skin and larger muscles, gives the user a boost to their durability. Gavin’s Core provides a +10% buff to Endurance and a +10% damage resistance. The massive torso returns to normal after the mage has taken 30% of his max health in damage.
Active: Light Soul- There are only two exceptional things about Gavin’s Form; the incredible size and the abnormal crystal embedded in his chest. The latter of the two comes from Dax’s magic, of course, but because Gavin doesn’t just embody wildness. Part of his being, his core if you will, is that he cares about his allies and demonstrates the same purity of soul that Daxtremis does. Light Soul creates a beam of light that shoots out to burn and pierce enemies and allies alike, dealing D Rank spell damage with an x1.5 damage modifier against Shadow or Darkness magic. The beam is a half a foot in diameter, reaching up to 30 feet at a speed of 10 m/s. For every Rage stack Dax chooses to consume, a smaller red beam will shoot out at the same time doing 20% normal damage. However, using this secondary ability causes the same amount of damage to Dax, and it inflicts this damage for every extra beam shot. In addition, every additional shot tints the central beam a more reddish color. Light Soul has a 5 post cooldown.
Strengths:
Minorly boosted health with a significant damage reduction
Strong, fast Active ability
Takes 50% less damage from Shadow or Darkness magic
Weaknesses:
No passive offense use at all
Very little additional health
Without Rage stacks, Light Soul becomes little more than a normal damage ability
Using Rage stacks, Dax can deal himself quite a bit of damage and even die if taken too far
- Beast Mind:
- Name: Beast Mind
Rank: D
Type: Takeover, Support
Duration: 4
Cooldown: 6
Description: There is no visible gesture or demonstration when casting Beast Mind, only a mental command for it to commence. At that point, the same dark green magic circle that appears in all of Gavin’s Takeovers appears now to envelope the head of the user, transforming it into that of the gorilla. This affects the user’s mind more than anything, as the brain is what is chiefly focused on with this transformation, and puts Gavin mostly in control of the body; the user still controls the majority of the body’s movements, but the Beast can temporarily wrest control if it so desires.
Passive: Beast Mind gives Gavin more influence than any other Partial Takeover does, and it is very helpful in allowing him to use his ape appendages to great effect, even moreso when enraged. Every other active Takeover’s passive(s) get a +5% buff per 2 Rage stacks. Beast Mind will go on cooldown after the user has taken 25% of their health in damage.``
Active: Adrenaline Rush- The difference in biology between a human brain and a magical gorilla brain is quite large, to put it mildly, and the latter can allow for more massive amounts of adrenaline to be flooded through the user’s system. This gives Dax an automatic 7 Rage stacks, capable of surpassing his normal maximum of 10. One of these stacks disappears every turn, and they are consumed before the stacks gained through other means. Adrenaline Rush has a 6 post cooldown.
Strengths:
Synergizes very well
Adrenaline Rush is quite powerful
Passive scales up with Rage stacks
Weaknesses:
Long cooldown
Passive is completely dependent on Rage stacks
Active also has long cooldown
Allows Gavin to take a firm place in the controlling of the user’s body
- Other Spells:
- Name: Frost Bite (Lineage)
Rank: D
Type: Offensive, Ice, DoT
Duration: 3 posts
Cooldown: 4 posts
Description: The user need only gesture with a hand to cast Frost Bite, thrusting an open palm hand at their opponent that closes into a fist when the attack truly starts. A large, lightning blue magic circle will appear beneath the target, producing a swirl of ice around them that quickly turns into an alligator’s mouth surrounding them. It is produced at 40 mph, and the closing speed is the same. The jaws of the beast are always perfectly sized to snap shut and dig its teeth into the opponent’s torso and arms for 50% of D Rank spell damage. After the initial impact, the construct will disappear; save for the icy teeth, which will remain in the bitten victim. Every round, another 50% of D Rank damage will occur until the duration of the spell is complete or it is somehow stopped, as the ice chills the target inside and out. This also slows them down, freezing D Rank mages and slowing down C Rank mages by 50%. The effects become lessened as the spell goes on, lowering the effect by 25% per post. After one post, a D Rank mage would only have -75% speed, and after two it would be reduced to -50%.
Strengths:
High damage
Freezing/slowing effect
Weaknesses:
Long cooldown
Can be stopped midway through the duration by appropriate spells
Freezing effect wears off very quickly on higher ranked mages
Name: Whirlwind Armor (Lineage)
Rank: D
Type: Wind, Defensive
Duration: 3
Cooldown: 3
Description: Much as the name implies, Whirlwind Armor is a spell that generates, for the user, a covering of armor made of wind. With a pushing motion at the ground, accompanied with a surprisingly large burst of wind, a swirling gray mass forms around the user. The body of air quickly condenses down into perpetually moving armor that fits the user’s form. This armor deflects all projectiles of D Rank, and prevents airborne attacks, such as poison, from reaching the target, unless said attack is of higher Rank than this spell. It can block up to 2.5x D Rank spell damage, only blocking 75% of Earth, Rock, and similar magic.
Strengths:
Prevents projectiles and other airborne attacks from even affecting the user
Useful damage resistance
Weaknesses:
Very long cooldown
Loses damage resistance against earth-based magics
Almost useless against higher Rank attacks
