A Missing Pearl [Job: Find The Missing/Stolen Jewelry] [Private] [Kiru and Shade]

Job Location: Hargeon Town
Job Description: My beloved wifes jewelry was misplaced during a vacation to Hargeon town. Please find it for me.
After searching the town for a few posts it is possible to meet a street Urchin who will give you Intel on the whereabouts of said jewelry(roll 1 dice per person per post until you find a street urchin). The street urchin will need a post or two of convincing to give you the information depending on how you go about getting the info.

Follow the advice to meet the boss, a pawnshop owner who is selling stolen goods. You however need to prove he’s selling stolen goods Continue arguing with the boss until you roll a boss in which you can find proof he’s selling stolen goods(roll 2 dice per person per post until a boss dice is rolled). Keep track of how many other dice results you get.

Afterwards a fight ensues and multiple punks and armed punks and even his street urchins will swarm the place in an all out brawl. Defeat the Pawnshop dealer and the low lives will scatter and you complete the mission. How many of each enemy appear are determined by the rolls you made during the argument and what appeared. So if after 3 posts total you rolled 3 weak, 2 strong, and 1 boss dice you will fight 3 punks, two street urchins, and the boss.
Enemies:
Weak:
Punk(D): nobodies not worth mentioning who are slow and uncoordinated. These low lifes have no skill in what they’re doing typically flail their fists around and are pretty easy to deal with. Can’t appear until the boss appears.
Medium:
Armed Punk (D+): Punks with two by fours and metal pipes. Just as uncoordinated but pack a heavier punch then the punks. Can not appear until the boss appears.
Strong:
Street Urchin (C): Low-lives who wander the streets of all cities and are particularly small, these guys are a great source of information if you can get your hands on one and convince them to give you information. Their honestly non-violent and aren’t stupid enough to take on mages but you’ll need to convince one to give you real information if you want to find the jewelry, which, in a city as big as Hargeon, would be a needle in a haystack. Aggravate one though and they may put a knife in your chest.
Boss:
Pawnshop owner (C+): A shop owner who has been knowingly selling stolen goods. He carries a one handed mace as his weapon and is pretty good at using it although not as good as many would believe.

Reward: 15,000 jewels

"Hmmm..." Kiru silently thought to herself as her cyan coloured eyes thoroughly scanned the large, expansive request board situated in the Black Rose guild hall. The girl was still rather new to the guild, and she needed to prove she was a worthy guild member fast. The girl had gained somewhat popularity, but only because of the scene that had transpired upon her arrival. After that, soon news of the Ocean Demon Slayer had quickly spread across the Black Rose Guild. Making two Demon Slayers now.

Kiru had her arms crossed as one hid the guild logo on her left. She still wasn't used to it, and felt somewhat insecure about how the black mark looked. She wouldn't admit it of course, but her feelings were still there. Knowing it was permanent didn't really help matters either.

She continued to stare up at the board until one job caught her eye. Seemed someone misplaced some Jewelry. Didn't sound too hard, reward was decent as well. With that in mind she plucked it off the wall and began looking over the details...

On one of the many tables littering the area a single plush sat, seemingly abandoned and forced to face the job board. A rather chunky looking moose…slash cow thing, mostly black with orange-red patterns and mane around his neck, beady eyes had been pouring over the jobs in place of his mistress. Unfortunately someone stepped in the way, obscuring the job his owner sounded interested in, but as she was currently grabbing a snack couldn’t very well snap up the paper at this instance. Watching and unmoving the little figure began to quake internally, CM’s nerves rising in his usually easily panicked state, praying that this woman wouldn’t take the preferred job.

Humming in pleasure at the sweet taste of the warm cookie as it practically melted in her mouth. It was everything she wanted right then and there the white haired girl decided as she rounded the corner. For whatever reason Shade could feel CM becoming anxious about something, but as she’d chosen the job for the time being the girl hadn’t cared to keep the connection active enough to see what was causing it. ’Knowing him some cat wandered in and is peering at him with a gleam in its…eye…’

A girl stood between him and his sight of the bulletin board, causing Shade to roll her magenta eyes before snatching up the moose, the fuzzy companion now held in the crook of her arm like a basketball. Unlike the moose she remained calm as she casually strolled towards the board and noted…the one she wanted was no longer there, her curious eyes sliding to the one this two-tone haired woman currently held. ”I don’t ‘spose you’d like a little help with that one? Was thinking it looked kind of fun…” The summoner’s eyes would raise up from the paper to look into the woman’s aquatic eyes. Granted it mostly seemed easy since she could cover plenty of ground with her denizens in their plush forms, figuring it’d be easy money if nothing else.

Kiru quickly scanned over the piece of parchment before looking up when an unfamiliar voice interrupted her thoughts. "Hm? I uh... Help?" Kiru inquired to the new arrival. A rather fair looking girl, sporting white hair and magenta eyes.

She had asked Kiru if she wanted help, but the girl figured that wasn't the real reason for this encounter. She raised an eyebrow before looking back at the paper. Kiru could sense this girl was probably looking to do the same job. However, Kiru was never one to turn someone down, and this seemed like a good way to get on decent terms with the rest of the guild.

"You want to hunt for Jewelry then too?"

This stranger seemed a little disbelieving of Shade’s offer, at least that’s how she saw it. In turn she raised her own eyebrow, finishing off the final bits of the cookie before it could consider hardening and licked some of the melted chocolate from her fingers, ”Well…hunting for jewelry’s not a particular hobby or anything, but sounded like an easy job with my friends so figured easy money. Buuuuut if you’re really keen on going it alone I could always scrounge up something else.”

Lazily her eyes slid back towards the job board, though nothing really struck out at her either. She liked the sound of something easier like this, yet with some hint of fun to it: like a treasure hunt! That’s what’d mostly peaked her interest even if she couldn’t keep the prize at the end…well, not without issues arising. ”However,” she decided to amend, ”as long as you help a little bit I don’t mind letting my friends do most of the grunt work for the both of us…though…by this point there’s chances that someone’s picked it up by now. Shiny things don’t just attract crows and other critters after all.” If this girl had issues getting her hands a little dirty then there might be issues.

"Heh. Fun." Kiru chuckled somewhat sarcastically. Honestly she didn't take to the job board looking for "Fun." Like this other girl was apparently doing. Really it was only to earn some extra cash, and spread the good will of the guild. She turned her cyan eyes back to the girl after she finished a raised an eyebrow once again.

"I'm not intent on going alone. You're welcome to tag along if you'd like." She said somewhat flatly before turning her eyes downward at the paper again. "And you're probably right. Judging by the looks of this pearl ring... Seems like it'd be worth a lot. And they're offering a lot just to get it back..." Kiru said, observing the object more
closely.

She turned back to the girl's direction. "Oh right, sorry. I'm Kiru" She introduced herself before putting in a small smile. "Will you be coming to Hargeron then Miss...?

’I hope she’s not the boring type,’ Shade pondered. Then again she didn’t know what this chick’s sense of “fun” might be either, ’I’ll chalk it up to being rather business-like for now I guess.’ Besides as Amarylis was fond of telling the girl, not everyone thought the same so perhaps this ocean-eyed girl didn’t understand that the fun wouldn’t be in scouring the ground or some silly such, but in perhaps convincing someone to give it back? Call her stir crazy, but it’d been a bit since Shade had the opportunity to really enjoy herself…though she supposed that depended who found the ring to be fair. ’Would be my luck if it was some kind person who hadn’t made it to the police yet…’

”See? If it’s valuable there’s going to be more than just looking under every rock for it, so I doubt it’ll be completely boring at least.” A moment later the girl introduced herself, causing Shade’s face to blank as if registering this fact and then her eyes lit up as if the thought only just occurred to her now as well. Eyes widening, she blurted, ”Oh! Sorry about that! I’m Shade! S’what I prefer if you don’t mind…oh, right can’t forget him too. This is CM!” Holding up the cartoonish looking stuffed animal of a moose that sported a cowbell around its neck the summoner smiled, ”And we’d love to go to Hargeon with you! The more the merrier or so people seem to say! C’mon!”

Positively giddy that the girl hadn’t rejected her Shade grabbed her hand, eagerly pulling Kiru through the throng of tables towards the exit. A thought struck her, ”Hmm…I guess we should let them know on the way we’ll be taking the case. Generally good to give ‘em a heads up, but at least Hargeon’s a port so we just need to take a ship there!”

"Pleasure to meet you Shade." Kiru said with a small smile after the girl introduced herself. Shortly after explaining the details of what their job would probably end up becoming. She was right after all, if this ring was worth as much as it looked, someone probably picked it up somewhere.

Kiru was however taken by surprise when the girl held up the stuffed moose that had been oddly placed on a table nearby. It took the girl a moment to register the fact that Shade was being serious. Or at least Kiru thought she was. "Oh... Errr... Hi... MC." Kiru said awkwardly. She wasn't prepared to talk to stuffed animals. However, given Kiru's luck it was probably alive by some form of magic, and she had just offended it. That or this girl was just a little crazy. She'd rather offend the stuffed animal then work with a crazy teammate, so hopefully that wasn't the case.

"Huh? Whoa hey!" Kiru exclaimed as the girl grabbed her hand and began to run out the door. Once she stopped she elaborated on her thoughts. "Yeah... We should tell someone where we've run off too." She agreed. Wouldn't want someone to put a missing person job for THEM while they were on this little escapade.

Rather kindly – or so she decided – Shade ignored the girl’s mispronunciation of “CM.” After all maybe she’d been overcome by his sheer cuteness she accidentally reversed the letters? It sounded so plausible Shade attached that excuse in place, likely to remind her later as she was simply too excited to start their little expedition. So excited in fact the notion of warning anyone of their departure slipped her mind complete. ’Well…not like I expect this to take more than perhaps a day, two at most…but I suppose if something exotic happens and it takes weeks may be good…also probably best if I leave a note for Magna. Not entirely sure if we’ll be back in time for dinner.’

Belatedly Shade realized they were talking about two different people, Shade referring to the client and Kiru talking about the guild, but she shrugged it off as a decent idea. ”Fair point, I need to leave a note for someone if you don’t mind informing the person in charge of the notices we’re taking the job? Then they can just tell the client for us that we’ll be finding their loot-I mean ring for them!” Well…it was a little more fun to view this as some sort of pirate or thief-like escapade, and “loot” sounded more fun.

Dashing off towards the personal quarters area, the girl quickly scrawled out a note, mentioning a job with “some interesting person” and slipping it under a door. As she rushed back towards the entrance Shade forced her gait to lessen, trying to curb some of the excitement, ’Well…it is rude to drag people around I suppose.’ A deep chuckle resounded through her head, the cautioning entity amused by the pouting note in her thought.

"Right...." Kiru told her as the girl agreed. After Shade had run off to leave her note, Kiru simply did what was expected, and informed the someone of their little treasure hunt. After she reconvened at the door, packed only with a bag of food. Only fruit.

"Well then, shall we head to the port? Sea travel is the best and probably fastest way to get there." Kiru told her with a small hint of excitement. No surprise she liked the ocean. Not particularly the obnoxious rocking of the boat, but the open ocean was enough to calm her at least. Away from the smelly port town anyways.. Kiru had even considered getting her own small ship. But that sounded expensive. If she could afford a boat, she wouldn't be going on this job in the first place.

Slowly, unsettling thoughts began to creep in the back of Kiru's mind, and figured it'd probably be best to get to know her companion a little if they were going to be spending a few days together. "Sooo... Shade. How do you like Black Rose?" Kiru asked trying not to sound awkward, or too obvious as to what she was doing. Her lack of eye contact did give away a few factors however. The day had been bright and sunny when they left the guild hall, but now grey clouds started to slowly cover the sun, and spits of light rain followed. Kiru gazed up at them, and shrugged it off.

Nodding Shade noted the girl’s increase in excitement, pleased that she finally seemed to be getting into the spirit of things. Or maybe she really liked boats and being on boats? Sea travel made the most sense since they’d be heading to Hargeon, though at some point Shade wanted to take a ride in an airship as that sounded like quite a trip too. For now though the logical (and cheaper) route won out as the two headed towards the port.

’I wonder if I should’ve brought something along…?’ Perhaps it’d look odd, but with the majority of her possessions residing in her realm lugging around belongings came as a foreign act to the girl. Even though she didn’t like to think of it as such, the place was technically her “home.” The room she’d taken at the guild sported very little so far, things added here and there at her whims at best, but the place was smaller than her room there so she felt a bit choosy what came over.

The question caught her off guard, looking at her travel companion and finding the other mage peering off elsewhere. As rain lightly poked at them – a form Shade liked to refer to as “Angel Spit” out of pure amusement – she pulled up the hood of her jacket and readjusted CM to sit under the open garment to avoid getting too soggy. ”Hmm…I suppose it’s fine,” she finally managed out, ”I like the architecture here, it’s quite different to Infinity Hydra, though I liked their style too. I mostly joined to be close to someone though and haven’t been here long. Haven’t even met the guild master quite yet, at least I don’t think I have.” She supposed she could’ve very well missed it, not paying attention or something or simply letting it leave her mind at the time. ’If I see them again maybe it’ll click then,’ Shade decided, not particularly concerned.

”What about you then?” The question was returned as the summoner really couldn’t say who stood as her senior in the guild and who might be as new as herself. The only other person she met so far hadn’t been around in a while, the lad disappearing before she could have too much fun lording his secret adoration of cute things over him. ”What drew you to Black Rose? Anything in particular about it you like or liked…anything you dislike so far?” Perhaps she could gain a greater view through someone else’s eyes, curiosity piqued.

How dumb of Kiru to ask something like that, and not expect to answer it herself. From what it sounded like, this girl was apparently a newer member as well. Kiru tilted her head with slight interest as Shade mentioned Infinity Hydra. Had she been part of that guild too?

Kiru hadn't met a lot of people either since she joined. However, the unexpected reunion of her and Izayuki had made the girl slightly on edge. It wasn't because she didn't trust her, but the event leading Kiru to Black Rose, and then a friend thought to be dead showing up seemed a little suspicious. Other then that however, she still didn't really know anyone. Shade hadn't met the guild master yet either apparently. The only thing Kiru even knew about their GM was that she was also a Demon Slayer like herself. Being the only one she had heard of.

"Me? I uh..." Kiru stuttered, trying carefully to word her next sentence. "I was... Directed to Black Rose... By my mentor." She was quick to finish the first answer and move to the next.

"So far it seems pretty cool. I mean, food isn't great but I can deal with it." She said, trying to crack a joke. "I haven't really met anyone else either. Except for you and the Ace of stigma."

’I suppose she hasn’t met Magna yet then.’ The joke flew over her head, Shade simply staring at the girl and accepting this as her opinion – which to be fair sometimes things could be hit or miss. She’d forgotten to mention “no coconut” on something and, well Amarylis ended up wolfing the plate down in her stead even if a little begrudgingly. It seemed they held their newness in common, neither having met many of the guild members, though she found it amusing they’d each met an Ace. ’Wonder who that is? I’m sure I’ll stumble along them at some point.’

It didn’t appear to bother the other girl too much though, Shade shrugging at the statement with a small smile, ”Well whether you want to or not I’m sure you’ll meet people quickly enough. They do seem to come and go quite a bit and sometimes at odd hours.” An odd nervousness prevented Shade from leaving her room during what sounded like the “busier” times, the summoner deciding to chalk it up to “simply not feeling sociable for the moment” and leaving it at that.

Only a few minutes later they reached the port, Shade offering to buy their tickets and rushing over to do so, informing her current partner-in-crime that the ship would be leaving in about twenty minutes. ”Let’s go!” she chirped excitedly, eager for a nice sea breeze before stopping and considering something. The idea fell away quickly enough: given Kiru’s earlier excitement and suggestion to ride a ship Shade doubted the girl to be one of those fabled Dragon Slayers…though what caused them to be motion sick intrigued her all the same.

Aboard the ship Shade was quick to find a seat on the deck and leaned back with a sigh, eyes enjoying the various cloud shapes above. Though seagulls honked above she chose to focus more on the breeze and slapping of water around the docks, enjoying the gentle rocking of the boat. She’d probably end up taking a nap along the way there. ”You wouldn’t happen to like sea travel by any chance, would you?” It was an unbidden question, but one that occurred all the same for some small reason.

Kiru quickly followed Shade's movements with her own as they traversed the docks of the port to acquire tickets needed for boarding. No surprise the ocean demon slayer liked to be out on the open sea so much, the very thought of it was enough to heighten the girl's spirits. Even if she wasn't on a boat however, she usually brought along the rain as a temporary companion.

Kiru simply nodded in agreement to Shade's statement about meeting new people. She was probably right, after all, Shade seemed to have a lot more experience with people then Kiru did. Being isolated for almost her entire life had its effects. Kiru had no idea how to interact with others in random situations... Thinking about this, she slightly clenched her fist when her memory raced back to the little 'rumble' she had caused at a cafe. She quickly shoved it off though and returned her attention to her companion, who seemed just as excited to get going as Kiru did.

"Like sea travel?" Kiru pondered at the words, they tasted foreign when being used in context as a question. She smiled and looked up at the grey clouds slowly billowing over their boat. "Heh, yeah... I do enjoy the ocean quite a bit..." She said before looking back down at the water. Kiru twiddled her thumbs, a sign of slight nervousness. She had just remember her new companion did not know her identity as a demon slayer. That would explain the somewhat weird question asked towards her.

"I uhh... Feel more at home, y'know? Being an ocean demon slayer and all..." She somewhat blurted, trying hard to integrate that last comment into the conversation without too much notice. It was one of those things Kiru would casually bring up in situations like this. She cursed her bad memory and hoped Shade wouldn't mind. However she had no idea what to expect. This girl was still a complete mystery to her. Kiru had never been known for reading others, but Shade displayed something she was able to pick up on. It felt as if something about her was missing. A secret about herself. Although it was probably nothing, Kiru would try and shrug it off. It's not like her Ocean Demon status was a secret anyways. Many people in the guild knew by now that two Demon Slayers had joined BR.

The more she watched Kiru the more Shade suspected her socialization to be a bit…lacking. ’Or maybe she’s not much of a people person?’ In her frequent forays into the mortal realm Shade came across plenty such individuals. Some of them could get a bit crabby or violent however when push came to shove, but given Kiru’s more nervous state Shade leaned more towards “lacking” rather than simply “undesired” in her interactions.

’Oh! She sports a special connection to the ocean then! Or…so it sounds.’ While the girl heard of these “slayers” and the like actually meeting them was…well rare. In fact at this point the summoner couldn’t recall the last time she met one if she even did so knowingly. Right now though she wouldn’t waste time trying to recall when one stood before her, ripe for questioning. Things tended to interest her more when directly present, so while she knew of them her understanding felt a bit lacking.

Head tilting to the side, Shade waited until the sounds of the ship casting off dimmed down a bit before asking, ”What’s it like being a slayer? Do you only eat salt water then or…do you eat demons? Is it some sort of mission for you to slay demons? Are they tasty at all? Well…I’m sure Magna could find a way…hmm…does this mean you can breathe underwater like a dolphin or shark then?” All sorts of crazy ideas started popping into her head as the ship moved along, fantasizing exactly what this “slayer” status might mean. ”Can you turn into something like a mermaid? Oh that’d be so cool!” Shade’s imagination was in full sail, imagining what a mermaid transformed Kiru might look like, mouth slightly open in a little ‘O’ shape of wonder. Briefly she recalled that there existed some other categories, such as dragon slayers and god slayers, but in her mind it still made a modicum of sense that maybe they ate those things too. ’Maybe she only eats sea demons then? Maybe that’s why she doesn’t like the food at the guild?’

And of course, Kiru's luck didn't seem to hold as much as she'd would have liked it to. Shade picked up on the last comment, and then began bombarding her with questions. Kiru turned with a smile, at least pleased to know Shade had nothing against her slayer status. Some people in the past however, had it against her for training with a demon...

She got a little fluster with some of the awkward questions and tried to shrug it off. "Oh, heh. I uhh.. I can breath underwater, yes. And no, I don't eat demons. That's disgusting." Kiru spoke rather bluntly, her face grew an expression of displeasure as she thought about eating demons. "Really though, I'm not much different from the rest of you. I was just trained by uh... Someone else." She grew quiet after saying this. To quickly change the subject however, Kiru decided to do some probing on her own.

Well, what's your specialty then? What kind of magic do you use?" Kiru asked, genuinely curious. If there was ONE thing Kiru had learned about other people, is that you can tell a lot about them based on their magic. She leaned against the railing of the boat, letting the cool sea breeze blow her hair ever so slightly.

Shade experienced a few ups and downs, ecstatic to hear about the breathing underwater – oh the sights she could see then! – and yet oddly saddened the girl didn’t eat demons and in fact found it disgusting. Well, to each their own she supposed, but shrugged it off as Kiru claimed to be no different from the other’s. That too sounded at least a little disappointing, and ultimately Shade decided to put off accepting that as truth. Call it odd she simply didn’t want to Kiru to be another “face in the growd” as that meant she’d be boring and so far Shade liked her enough to want the girl to be interesting. Already the white-haired girl liked the duality of the slayer’s hair colors, and her odd excitement over being near the sea as well as her readiness to explain a small bit of her odd and rare magic.

So for now Shade chalked Kiru up to being humble. It sounded better.

” ‘Specialty?’ “ she repeated with a slight head tilt. Eyes turned skyward for answers, thoughts churning on what answer to choose. The true specialty though tended to send people fleeing from her or at least considering her with suspicion. Instead she opted to stick with her usual guns for this sort of thing, magenta eyes floating back down to her partner, ”I’m basically a summoner so nothing quite as exotic sounding as “Ocean Demon Slayer” sadly. I do like my friends though so even if it doesn’t sound glamorous I like it!” She punctuated it with a smile, hugging the black moose plush closer to her chest.

It really was easier to leave out the unnecessary details. There was no need to explain “Paradise” to the other mage much less the denizens and where they came from. However she’d share a slightly more fun aspect, as she set the moose down onto the deck, ”Admittedly I’ve been told parts of my magic can be akin to “seith magic” since I can have my summons inhabit the bodies of stuffed animals.” On her mental demand CM began to move about, his little stubby feet moving so fast and yet body gaining very little distance as he started babbling in a panicky matter and pacing back and forth. She laughed a little, ”Though don’t mind CM: he’s quite silly and worry-prone. I promise he’s far more competent in a fight than he is in just about any other task!” Though that didn’t mean Shade never enjoyed the way the moose lost his cool over the smallest of things.

Kiru tilted her head as Shade began to explain the properties of her magic. It sounded interesting, and relieved Kiru when she learned about it's properties about inhabiting stuffed animals. That explains CM then... Kiru thought silently to herself with a rather expressive look on her face. Kiru found it more interesting however simply because she had never encountered anything like it.

"These summons, are they like the legendary Zodiac keys?" Kiru inquired, her cyan colored gaze expressed a keen interest. She didn't know much about the keys, but from what she had heard, they allowed the user to summon powerful spirits to come to their aid. Shade's magic sounded similar in that sense. "Or are these summons more like... Pets?" She hesitated slightly after saying that, not wanting to offend Shade or her apparent summon CM if her guess wasn't the case.

Kiru had a confused expression on her face as she watched the moose move around, seemingly having no idea the reason for his outburst. "Heh, alright." Kiru replied as Shade assured not to pay any attention to the stuffed animals actions. How this tiny creature could assist anyone in a fight was beyond Kiru, so that just lead her straight to her next question.

"So, the moose isn't the summon itself? rather just the body the summon inhabits? Does he like, grow bigger or something in a combat situation?"

Shade snorted at them being compared to the keys, those creatures interesting…but outside her scope in a sense. ”Similar, but luckily even if I lose their little stuffed bodies it doesn’t lock me out of summoning them. Though I suppose the upside to keeping track of keys is that you’re less likely to lose your house keys as well.” She had to ponder a bit more on the follow up question though, watching the moose continue to panic until he came close enough she could pick him back up and lock the little fellow down in her arms. ” ‘Pets’ might describe some of them, but I wouldn’t say it characterizes all of them…probably best not to lean that way.” She could easily think of a few who’d take advantage of such presumptions or thoughts.

”Nope it’s just something I sewed together and stuffed full of cotton,” the summoner assured, and then affectionately squished the little guy, ”He’s quite cute in his real form, but letting him inhabit this one doesn’t drain me like his real one. If you’re lucky you might get to see it, or one of his many, many siblings.”

Before more could be said a voice rang out, signaling the port ahead and Shade’s attention shifted to beyond the boat’s railing to spy the port town: Hargeon. The wharf easily came into view, the buildings obscuring some of the bustling streets they’d be searching soon enough. A small flock of seagulls flanked them as the vessel readied to pull into port, escorting the travelers (albeit more scoping out any quick meal steals) and soon flew off to pester the fishermen. It’d only be a few minutes more before they’d finally pull out the gangplank to permit their customers entrance to the fine town.

Kiru smiled and was about to give a response before she heard one of the crewman's shouts. She looked over the railing, curious about the commotion to witness Hargeron not far ahead. Her face got an expression of satisfaction, but slight disappointment. Making it to their destination meant getting off the boat. She stretched her arms before following Shade off the ramp into the port. She closed her eyes and tried to absorb the sounds and smells around her. This had been the girl's first time at Hargeron, so she wanted to remember it. Easiest to do so was by the smell the port town created. It wasn't a very GOOD smell, but it was strong enough for her slayer sense to remember.

"So, I guess we should start looking then?" Kiru pondered to her companion as her cyan colored gaze quickly scanned the crowd around them. This wasn't going to be an easy job was it? The town had more people then Kiru had been expecting, so it did complicate things a bit. She didn't know how useful it would be, but she attempted something she usually didn't like to do. She sniffed the air, loud enough for passers to hear her as her nose twitched. She didn't know what smell she was looking for, but hopefully her nose could help narrow some places down.

"Ugh, I got nothing." She said, frustrated with herself before turning over to Shade. "I don't suppose any of your companions are trackers are they?" She asked.

The place, admittedly, proved a lot bigger than Shade might’ve anticipated. Sounds and voices rang out from all sorts of angles, though a busy dock would undoubtedly be noisy even pitters of voices flittered from the streets beyond where markets and business likely stood. When they’d been riding over though there’d been that small hint of realization that this might not be quite as easy as she initially hoped. ’Well the more the merrier and still not quite as bad. Just means they’ll have to roam around a little further than usual.’ Such free reign for her denizens might prove a little troublesome for other people, but it wasn’t anything Shade would fret about.

Curious eyes watched as Kiru took a great few whiffs of the place, wondering if maybe she liked the smell of fish stinking it up under the few rays of sun that peaked out from the clouds above or a shipyard might be her thing. Or…maybe this was her first time? When the two-toned girl spoke though things clicked into place a bit more, Shade wondering how she expected to find a foreign scent amidst…well, other foreign smells. ’Unless she’s talked to the person while I wasn’t looking and sniffed their hand too…not sure finding a metal trinket amidst all this metal and fish would be so easy.’ She offered her a few mental points for effort though and inhaling some less than stellar scents in this stinky place.

”Well…they’re up and down as far as tracking goes, but it’s not going to be so easy without a comparison scent or some magical energy,” Shade shrugged, staring at the ground as she called upon other little plush bodies, the group surrounding her feet, ”All right gang: you know what to do.” Like children they scattered in different directions, only the rabbit twins racing off together as the others split into various avenues and alleyways. ”If nothing else they can cover more ground than we’ll be able to alone, and they can overhear conversations so we can get the latest gossip and maybe some useful info! Plus they can find suspicious places because anyone respectable would’ve turned it in, but I suppose even nice looking people can turn into thieves.” Shade peered around, trying to figure out where they should go, hooking an arm with Kiru as she finally lead them towards one of the main streets, ”Now if we were less than reputable people and found something potentially valuable, what would we do with it or where would we take it?”

Kiru stared at the stuffed spirits with an emotionless expression, but feeling curious as to what they were going to do. Shade's orders confirmed it then, and they all split up in different directions supposedly searching for the ring they were sent to find. However, as soon as Shade asked her question, Kiru responded at somewhat odd speed.

"Pawn shop, easy." She said staring off in the distance as they walked, when the thought suddenly occurred to her that her answer was given at a strangely fast speed. Her face got red and she attempted to shrug it off. "Or, y'know. Wherever." She said rolling her eyes from her flustered expression, crudely attempting to cover up whatever it was she was trying to hide. And with that, it started to rain again. Small spits poked the people of Hargeron as many ignored it, but Kiru couldn't help but notice a few more then annoyed fisherman with the sudden change of weather.

'Finding this ring is going to take forever. Hopefully Shade's spirits can be of use. She wondered to herself silently. Then a thought popped into her head. "Maybe we could try asking around ourselves? I know many people probably wouldn't admit to stealing a ring." Kiru gave of a sly grin. "But i'm a pretty good lie detector." She elaborated as her eyes darkened, staring off at the street in front of the two, looking for any shady folk who could possibly point them in the right direction.

'Monster Dice' :

“Pawn shop, easy.” The response came so quickly she barely held back a burst of giggles, a small snort accompanying the half smile. Even the cover up proved a little endearing, though more than anything her quasi shame of knowing amused the summoner more than anything. ’ “Pawn shops” hmm? I guess that’s what they’re calling them nowadays.’ She’d never been to one, her last visit in the world a bit hazy that she couldn’t recall if such a thing existed or they at least held a name back then. ’Well, no matter, if it’s a place to sell stolen or…”found” merchandise it’s more likely at such an establishment than hanging out in someone’s jewelry box. We can only hope so at least.’

Water began falling from the sky, starting in a form Shade referred to as “Angel Spit,” but she wondered how long it might be before things turned harsher. ”A lie detector you say? Well perfect then! I guess we can harass people as we like…though I suppose it’d be better to do so before things get too bad out. I’m sure as used to it as people are even riffraff like to keep out of bad weather and I don’t think police or even the Lamian mages will appreciate us busting into places to find this thing.”

So far her little minions started skulking down various alleyways and side streets in the hopes of finding good targets for eavesdropping, but it would require some luck to find a good mark so quickly. ”On the bright side at least it’s quite the piece and not just another pearl necklace or simple diamond ring. A bit odd to have so much gold surrounding a single pearl though…”
