The most infamous of canine monsters in mythology, Fenrir (fin-REER) Wolves are giant, monstrous canines that resembles wolves. Nidhogg is the one of many Fenrirs that roam Earthland in silence. These beasts can be found all over the place if you look hard enough. Some residing in Tetsukazu or maybe in a Spooky Forest. Because of this, Nidhogg has enhanced senses similar to a canine, such as smell, sight, and endurance.
- Alternate Appearances
For survival’s sake, Nidhogg avoids roaming in his original beastly form and settles for a more humane body through the use of his magic. With the same magic, Nidhogg and alter his size in his original form from the size of a puppy to his original size. This applies to his human body as well, looking as youthful as a child or as elderly as some sort of grandparent.
- Grim Heresy - Interestingly enough, late into his travels, Nidhogg is recognized and approached by a series of odd events. Such influential whispering or seeing things that aren’t really there. More irritated than spooked, Nidhogg found himself in a mentally weakened state due to the events that happened. But he could not stop himself from resisting the curiosity, and listened to what these signs were telling him. The same signs led him to Mt. Hakobe Settlements, a secluded town deep into the icy mountains (which he was unaware of the guild that would lurk higher up). He wasn’t necessarily prepared for the cold temperatures that awaited him, and ended up snuggling up against sacks full of potatoes and wooden crates, awaiting for his isolating torment to end. But all signs ceased when approached him a small, hood figure who had more of a feminine voice and body structure. She had long, black hair and red lipstick with a shadow hovering over her eyes. At this point, Nidhogg said nothing and only awaited her move. She spoke quietly with a weak smile, pointing out into the distance of the settlement. “Wait until the clock strikes midnight for it to begin,” she said, the words softly coming out of her mouth. Still, Nidhogg said nothing. A harbinger, maybe? That was all Nidhogg can pull from it. But this is where these events led him, and so he waited as the stranger seemed to disappear simply by walking away as if she hadn’t said a thing.
And like that, the center of the town was lit by the midnight moon’s light, giving it eerie shadows in other places. But nothing happened, in particular. Many of the townspeople came out to admire the sight of moonlight, as usually this area appeared to be clouded. They were all dressed heavily, which only made Nidhogg feel colder. The snow was hard and stiff, nothing close the the fluffy, soft snowflakes you would fantasize about. His toes were numb, and his fingertips ached with frostbite. He had brought himself to the resolution to leave, and shamed himself for being fooled by such an unidentifiable being. Or so he thought. As he lifted himself up from the hard snow below his rear, he looked up to cast his sight onto the brick wall facing opposite of him. As the moonlight shined it’s light into the town, it illuminated the alleway elegantly. But not in a way Nidhogg thought: the bricks in the wall began to glow dimly, bright enough to create some sort of design. A couple of messy sentences formed in the form of some sort of riddle, and he read it carefully. As odd as it was, Nidhogg was quickly able to discover what location it was identifying. ”A sea of ships where the fallen ones lay,” was really the only thing he could pull from it, the Graveyard Sea. As infamous as it was, it was abandoned and no one would dare venture near it.
But, uninterested in it’s infamy, Nidhogg did so anyway and was able to arrive there by carriage. It took four days, really, but it was a step closer. He was greeted by the foul smell of dead fish (Or bodies, who knew?) and seawater. He adjusted quickly, but it was nevertheless foul. The sea was covered in broken down ships, but he did not dare swim too far out in the sea for this riddle. Instead, he traveled from boat to boat that were closest to the shore. It was a dark sky that hovered over the sea, the moonlight as bright as the night he arrived at the Mt. Hakobe Settlements. Hopping from ship to ship, he then began to hear moaning and weeping. Considering how silent this sea was, the volume of those weeps were clear. He followed it to a rather new and modern ship with half of it destroyed in what seemed to be a collision. Boarding it, Nidhogg climbed to the deck to find a series of bony bodies scattered across the floorboards, some dead, others moaning. They were clearly starved and malnourished, but that was not Nidhogg’s goal. He asked them about the location, or if they had seen anything weird. When they failed to understand his sign and body language, Nidhogg quickly finished them off in irritation and dissatisfaction. Their bodies were so weak, it only took a quick stomp on their chests for their rib cages to break in. But there was one particular young woman with blonde hair who’s rig cage did not break in, and she looked just as, if not more starved than the rest. He tried again, but to no avail. The moonlight would quickly shine over the boat, revealing the same text that would glow through her skin. Knowing what this meant, Nidhogg quickly cut her chest open to find a bloody tome with no title.
For several weeks, Nidhogg stayed in the Graveyard Sea, reading this tome in solitude, feasting off of the bodies of his victims, and deciphering it’s texts. With each reading, he became more obsessed with it. More envious of these people represented in the tome. He itched for answers and a reveal of these mascots of everything he valued. He studied the tome as if it were some Holy Book, and read it’s texts over and over. Until he discovered it’s origin. Grim Heresy. He sought them out over the course of several days and discovered them through the guidance of the tome. He was accepted into their ranks, and was sworn to secrecy. But in this discovery, he realized and recognized just what this foundation was. Nidhogg perceived it at what he was looking for. The pinnacle of satisfaction he yearned for. It was also through this discovery that he met Eris, someone of clear higher caliber and status. Nidhogg would not dare speak against her, just by her demeanor, he knew that it was no a smart idea to speak against her will. During that same meeting, Nidhogg remained silent, only speaking through his body language. A pact was formed, and his relationship with Grim Heresy had been sealed. But little did he know that though he was not supposed to speak of this guild's name, but that he couldn't. This same pact is more commonly known as the Devil's Pact, and after touring through the halls, he found himself bound to it. The words lingered about his mind for many hours after that, impressed with their secrecy. However, after recent events, all memories have been lost of this guild after a tense struggle to escape the bindings of the contract he signed. Realizing that this was not the future he wanted to seal himself to, Nidhogg realized that there was more experiences he wanted to have that the pact had limited him from. Although he had free will, it wasn't necessarily free. In his end, he'd have to abide by to what Eris saw fit, and the guild's beliefs, although curious, was not what he saw himself doing for the rest of his undead life. He grew lonely, malcontent, slowly regressing back to zero, where he was in Tetsukazu. The feeling of being tied to one fate for all his life, the reason he escaped to Earthland in the first place. Realizing the situation he put himself into, impulsively, and his frustration over the invaders of Tetsukazu fueling his motivation to join Grim Heresy, this all had led him to realize that this life was not for him. And refused to return back to the state he ran from because of impulsive frustration. At the consequence of unknowingly being preyed upon by Grim Heresy, endangering himself and others for acknowledging his own goals and acting upon them, and forgetting about the, Ezra lives a life not knowing what danger he brings to himself and others for merely existing.
Personality: Born and raised in Tetsukazu, Nidhogg has always lived a physically demanding life. For the many years that he has lived only with a select few of Fenrir kin he had, living with your own brethren could be dangerous. A primal, savage nature could easily overthrow you and end up in a large slaughter of brother and sister alike. Which is why Nidhogg did not stick around too long, but what is there to say about this four legged beast?
lacks sense of morality;
To start off, Nidhogg has no sense of right and wrong. Good and evil. Light and dark. He sees the world in black and white and does as he pleases without categorizing the consequences in “Good and Evil”. This particular trait grants Nidhogg potential to do just about anything, if willing.
hostile;
There are many cases where Nidhogg is more bite than bark. He is quick to resort to a more violent and savage approach to a situation given to him. Or perhaps in his mind, more than enough scenarios are beyond reason.
independent;
Tracing backs to several decades ago, Nidhogg had considered himself independent and embraced solitude for the remainder of his life. He is very self reliant and almost never considers relying on anyone but himself. He depends on his strength and wit to support himself.
silent;
Partially because he has a poor grasp on speech, Nidhogg listens more than he does speak. He does not know much of the human language besides basic communication despite his many years surrounding himself in such a community. He usually speaks only when spoken to and does not say much when he does. He relies mostly on body and sign language to get by. And surprisingly, it does help him. So much to a point where he does not know the sound of his voice. Is he mute? No. But he certainly hasn’t needed to use it since his arrival here.
deceptive/untruthful;
As stated, Nidhogg is more dishonest than honest. More so for selfish reasons or for self benefit. He often doesn’t take into consideration how a lie could damage someone else due to the fact he cares about himself and his well being rather than the well being of strangers or acquaintances. That being said, he is known to exploit the demises of others in order to gain their debt or connection so it would benefit him later, not that he knew it would.
teasing;
“Flirtatious” would not be one of the many words that describe Nidhogg. “Flirting” is often confused with teasing, in this case. That being said, he loves to do it. When in more romance oriented situations, Nidhogg can be dense. He can’t take hints that easily and his radar sees to be crooked when someone sends him signals. In any case, Nidhogg unconsciously rejects these signals and hints without really realizing he had due to his denial towards getting close to people. Not because of his ‘dark past’, but due to the simple realization that sacrificing your all for a relationship does not mean the other will do the same for equilibrium’’s sake.
lax;
More often than not, Nidhogg is laid back and lax in most situations. He often doesn’t take things as seriously as most would expect. But despite this display, he is often determined and disciplined enough to do a job well.
loyal;
Now, what kind of dog isn’t loyal? Not even Nidhogg, a ferocious descendent of the ever growing Fenrir species, is known for his display of loyalty and promise to repay a debt. That being said, Nidhogg can easily become a companion and often looks out for any comrade. His loyalty often trumps all other traits, and gladly states he is willing to sacrifice his life for the sake of his ‘Master’, or in any case, one with more authority and strength over him.
lack of value in life;
Despite his selfish nature, Nidhogg does not value his life as one would expect. Would he fight for it? Yes. But he would gladly throw his life away if he pleased. It is the one thing that he thinks separates him from humanity. A sense of being or duty to preserve his own life as if it were the most important thing. In any case, he believes that his life is worth fighting for until his current goal is complete.
egocentric;
Only to a degree does Nidhogg appear egocentric. He is indeed bark, but has a bite to back it up. If not? Then he does not dare bark. In other words, he feels eligible to display his arrogance to anyone below him.
ferocious;
Nidhogg is cruel and aggressive. Even his voice is rough and described to be harsh. He has a cold outlook on things and often is seen to be a Devil’s Advocate.
scandalous;
Complimenting his lack of morality, Nidhogg considers himself scandalous in the eyes of all. He willingly commits taboo and does it for pleasure.
insightful;
Generally showing great understanding and perception, Nidhogg thanks his observational skills for his insight.
In more combative situations, Nidhogg is aggressive and merciless. He strikes to kill and not to wound. He makes his battles quick and messy, he has the determination of any animal you could think of. His fighting style is savage and bloody and has a look of bloodlust in his eye when doing so. Only under a respected and strong command does he obey an order, otherwise it’s every man for himself.- Likes:

- Excitement - Nidhogg greatly enjoys the fanatical experiences he has while indulging in excitement. And more often than not, the things he finds humorous or thrilling is morally twisted.
- The thrill of battle - What kind of bloodhound would not appreciate a good battle? Or better yet, a battle to the death. That is certainly combining thrill and excitement.
- Indulging in Smoking. - It’s actually quite refreshing. (The irony!)
- Mystery & Romance Novels - Probably the only good thing created by mankind.
- Bitter Treats - Black Coffee, salty foods, all of the good stuff. Cake? Gross!

- Government - There’s not a lot out there to motivate Nidhogg. In fact, you could say his motives are so weak, they can hardly be considered ambitions. He does things for the sake of doing them without true intent. However, he does have a bone to pick with any form of government. He believes in anarchy and no true control of others.
- Mankind- He aspires to learn from them, and so, he looks to them to possibly inherit some of the experiences he has been exempt from for decades in his previous lifestyle.
- The Thrill of Battle - The Thrill of Battle is an exquisite boost of adrenaline to Nidhogg and strives for it.
