Random encounter? [social w/ Ami]

The city named Magnolia. Leila already went through this city so many times that she probably wouldn't be able to count it, no matter how hard she would try. But perhaps that was a good thing, as it meant that the city was important in some manner. To her and to everyone else who lived in Fiore too. And today, she was in this city again. Most times, she was here only because of work. But today, there was a completely different reason! From the moment sun started rising above the ground and shining on this beautiful land, various stands started popping up all around the streets, people running about with lively voices and laughter. It was yet another day when people would display their products and whatnot to the wide public in order to attract costumers into their shops later. Of course, it was actually way more exciting that that! In someone's eyes, it could almost be said that this was some kind of a festival. The only thing that was really missing to make that statement complete truth were fireworks. But perhaps some rebellious kinds would sneak some in later in the night, so it was all good! Leila always liked these events, as she got the option to buy a whole bunch of lovely items and foods that she had never eater before. It was shame that she had no home that she could actually buy decorations for, as there were plenty of those as well, but she still managed to find a lot of fun stands. And as she was happily going through the streets, humming to herself, she was somewhat familiar figure.

"Ghm...? Huh~"

The sight in front of her interrupted her train of thoughts quite efficiently. A person that she had never met, and yet she knew her. A long silver hair that was made styled into braids along with a very familiar mark on one of her hands. There was no doubt about it, she had seen this girl in the roaster Elyx provided for her. Another member of the guild she was part of, Golden Phoenix. And if she recalled correctly, her name was Astrid Foss. Perhaps it was not so bad that the guild master forced her to memorize all the other members as the new Ace. In fact, she knew that Astrid got that position as well! That was simply another reason for the two of them to meet and become friends! And so, Leila put on a bright smile and ran right in front of the other girl, stopping only a very short distance in front of her.

"Heyoo~! You're Astrid, right? I got it right... right? Right, I'm Leila Vergious, member of Golden Phoenix and it's Ace of Ruby!"

Unsure of how to introduce herself, she simply blurred it all out and hoped for the best, lifting her already dangerously short skirt a little bit more to show her own guild mark that was on resting on her left leg, perhaps a dangerous place to look at. She was always like this, way too eager and quick to mess things up because of that. But seeing as they were both from the same guild and even in the same position, maybe it would end up being fine in the end. She just had to wait for her reaction.

She might as well call Magnolia her second home with the amount of times she visited. Twice in one week, both due to performances. She didn't know why she found the town to be one of the best places to perform, maybe because it reminded her of Peace Village. It had the same qualities. Friendly people, a certain warmness to it. It was a cozy town. The only difference between the two, however, was the size and the amount of people. Peace Village was always small, both in size and population. But Magnolia was the opposite of that. Large in population and in size it was the perfect spot to perform. There was always new and old faces every time she took her violin out, and they were always so nice and supportive. Some would even give her money, though she refused it each time. She didn't want money. That would sound a little strange, coming from a member of Golden Phoenix, the guild known for risking their lives for jewels, gold, and other goodies. But their joy was her pay enough. As long as they kept enjoying her music, the musician was satisfied.

Making her way back to the train station, having just finished one of her previously mentioned performances, the slayer's stomach began to turn. The one bad thing about coming to Magnolia, or any other location. The train. She use to ride the train everywhere no problem. But ever since obtaining her dragon slayer magic she had managed to gain motion sickness. Very inconvenient and bad, as every ride ended with her having to sit down on a bench and try to not throw up her guts. She had honestly never felt a more horrible feeling in her life. And with how much she traveled, this happened at least twice a day.
Just the thought of going back on something that moved, it make her feel woozy.
Violin case in hand she kept her half glazed over optics on the path in front of her, trying to push back the vile feeling of sickness, wanting to just be home already to have some tea and rest. But, as fate would have it, that wouldn't be happening anytime soon.
While she was trying to get her mind on literately anything else but on how she was feeling the woman who stopped in front of her grabbed her attention. Astrid stopped in her tracks, taking one step back out of surprise as crimson eyes quickly widened. She had introduced herself so fast, and her brain was thinking in such slow motion, anything that just happened almost didn't process with her. By the time she had gotten her eyes to actually focus upon the girl her mind had only caught 'Leila' and 'Golden Phoenix', the only things that really stuck out in her mind. Astrid blinked once before blinking a second time, unsure of how she should answer her or what she wanted in the first place thanks to her attention span being shorter and slower than usual because of the sickness lingering within mind and body.
Leila... The name did ring a bell, and so did the appearance of the woman. She had seen both before somewhere, though right now she couldn't think of where exactly..
Unable to figure out the rest of what she had said Astrid went with a neutral response.
"Um... Yes, hello" she greeted rather sheepishly, like even the words themselves were hard for her to say. Out of instinct she light mage began to use a finger to trace around her ear, scratching at her hearing aid as her gaze looked away nervously.
"I'm Astrid Foss, to-be Ace of Golden Phoenix" she offered a small curtsy back.
She just really hoped she hadn't missed anything imortant in the girl's statement. She didn't want to come off as rude, and asking again might come off as that she didn't care about meeting her. Which was not the case at all. Astrid loved meeting new people... Just not while she wasn't feeling well and couldn't concentrate.

It was only natural that the girl was clearly very surprised by Leila's sudden appearance. Anyone would be with a show like this. In fact, this was slowly becoming completely normal for her every time she met someone new. Those who already knew her probably expected that sort of a behaviour already, so there was no issue there. So it would only serve to scare off new potential acquaintances. Well, at least it seemed that Astrid was not ready to run away just yet, so there was that! Better than the usual if she remembered correctly. Though it was possible that she perhaps did not even hear half of what the silver-haired girl said, given the fact that she reintroduced herself instead of simply agreeing with Leila that she got the right person. And her next words were pretty interesting as well. She heard of the other two aces, but this one was apparently not yet official. Elyx was probably too lazy to properly register her or something!

"To-be Ace, huh? Well, sorry for startling you. I just kinda saw a familiar figure and got the urge to make some contact, since I was alone the whole day."

It was slowly drawing closer to the evening and poor Leila had to go through the entire market completely alone. Everyone else was busy today for some reason, and that made her a little sad. She grew completely accustomed to being around other people that she started hating being alone, despite being alone for most of her life. It was strange how fast could someone change with only as much as having few new friends. And hopefully, Astrid's name would be soon on that list as well. Who wouldn't want to be friends with an adorable girl from the same guild? And only now she noticed the case for a musical instrument in her hand and something strange that was seemingly plugged into her ears. It would probably be rude to ask about that, so she shifted her interest towards the case only. She never played any instrument, but she knew how powerful could music itself be. It was perhaps even on the same level as magic, which was quite something indeed.

"That's for violin, right? I had no idea that our guild had any musicians~"

Her tone was playful and excited as she pointed towards her hand with a big smile. Here was hoping that Astrid actually had some time for this meeting and that Leila wasn't holding her back in any way. That was about the last thing she wanted to do. And yet, she could already see it... all those rumors in the guild about a horrible and inconsiderate Ace. Well, she never really did expect to get that position, so it probably wasn't that big of a deal. It wasn't like she would die if she was to loose it. She simply wanted to spend some time with this girl and have a little bit of fun, that surely wasn't so bad. And if it was, well... Astrid always had the option to simple deny Leila. That would about do it. It would make her feel pretty sad, but she had plenty of respect for other people, and she would definitely comply. That was how it worked in life, not everyone was friendly and ready for new relationships.

She apologized for interrupting her, though Astrid could not understand why she did. It was normal for people to interact, that's why they went outside. To see new things. Or at least the reason she went outside. It was inevitable as soon as you stepped out that door that something would eventually happen to you one way or another. If anything she should be the one apologizing for being a bit day dreamy with her attitude. Even if she was a bit sick it was no excuse for allowing Leila to think she was getting in the way. Astrid always wanted to seem approachable. It was her goal, to help people after all. And if they wanted nothing more than to talk to her, she would oblige.
"It's quite alight. I was only going to go back to the guild, nothing too serious. I always have time to spend with fellow guild mates." The slayer offered her a more healthy smile this time, having forgotten about her sickness as her mind made more room to concentrate of the conversation.

"What? My violin?" Blinking crimson optics down to the violin case within her grasp the light mage used her free hand to lift it up to chest level, allowing Leila to get a better look at it.
She was surprised to hear that she had no idea there were any musicians in the guild. Elyx was very well known for his playing. It was even one of the reason she started playing it herself. Because of him. Though now that she thought about it, he hadn't been doing as many street performances as he use to ever since he left Black Rose and started his own guild. Maybe people had never seen him play before...
"That's funny" she smiled warmly, chucking lightly. "I thought everyone knew Elyx played the violin at least. It's just us two in the guild that do, but there are way more out there all across Earthland."
Like that blonde girl she had just met here the other day. What was her name? Euphemia, as she recalled in the back of her mind. Of course, she could never forget another name of a musician. But unlike Astrid she was a wandering violinist, no guild or group at all. She could never go at it alone like that. The support of a guild was very helpful. That woman was a brave one, which made Astrid give all the more respect to her.

Leila simply had to perform an internal sigh of relief when Astrid seemingly perked up a little after few seconds. She was honestly worried that she was only getting in the way of someone who had to hurry somewhere. Thank goodness that was not actually the case. As time moved on, Leila needed human connections more and more. It was odd, such a drastic change was happening to her state of mind and only because she finally started interacting with those around her. Of course she was always interacting with people, but she never had any time to make friends. That was just the life of someone who walked the path. Always on the move and never staying for too long. Friends would only drag her down. But she left that old life of hers behind her back, probably for a long, long time. She had no intentions of traveling the world alone anymore, she wanted a companion. And while she had her trusted two pets at the hotel, their connection was a little bit different from what she was seeking. Perhaps this was what humans called 'love'. Such an ambiguous term, and yet it held power this great. It was truly fascinating to her, and the fact that she felt this way, it had to be evidence of her becoming more accustomed to the society around her. Well, it was about time this started, given the fact that she lived for more than 19 years in the Earthland. Focus more on the person in front of her, it seemed that they had a common goal. While Leila didn't exactly need to visit the guild, there was no problem with her actually doing it. So why not!

"Guild, huh? Alright, I could accompany you! If you don't mind, I mean. I would totally understand if you're someone who appreciates silence over talking, so don't hold back because of me, okay?"

Nature of this girl was still a bit unknown to Leila, so she wanted to make sure that Astrid would not go out of her way for this. But she wasn't hesitant at all in showing Leila her case from closer distance. And inside was her tool, capable of creating beautiful music. It wasn't as if Leila didn't know how these things worked. Again, she traveled the world. And while doing so, she met many street musicians that played a great variety of instruments. But violin seemed somewhat more rare. It was something elegant and delicate, capable of producing sound that could pierce the soul itself. Something that could speak to the listener personally. Amazing indeed, and she had a great respect for those who were capable of playing these instruments without fail. She never had time to learn anything like this, though her adoptive father did play a simple wooden guitar from time to time when they camped near the road. Those times were fun and created fond memories for Leila. And now that she had her life in her own hands, perhaps she could stop for a while and learn how to play too. Though hearing about her guild master playing this instrument too was quite surprising indeed.

"I had no idea... but to tell the truth, I met the man only once. And he did not have any instruments with him at that time. Maybe I'm just deaf to the rumors and information going around the guild, that's probably it."

She was one of the three Aces, but she spent surprisingly little time in the guild itself. Perhaps that was the main reason for her lack of knowledge. For some reason, Elyx didn't seem like the type that would play violin to Leila at all, but then again, you should never judge book by it's cover.

"Still, playing instruments like these... it must be amazing. I'm kinda envious~"

Her words were spoken in a playful tone, indicating that she didn't mean that in a negative way where she would actually be jealous of other people. It was nothing more than a desire, and she had to get a teacher and some free time to fulfill it eventually. There was still so much she had to do in her life, too many goals. But as long as it was driving her forward, everything was fine.
