I think we should have a few more misc. things. IDK what, but something that involves RP, but not in the form of jobs. Like actually schedule shit IC.... Like a GM summit.

That would actually be cool. And perhaps Grand Magic Games as well? More events like that would be pretty fun to rp out.

The grand magic games are heavily PVP which hasn't worked too well on this site. Plus it relies heavily on activity which is another thing that has struggled.

However, a guildmasters summit or other little fun events like that could be fun.

When I first started, I remember someone trying to host such a thing. It flopped.

We've tried to do things like this in the past and a lot of the times it dwindles out due to activity from players.

I wouldn't mind a GM summit as long as it was carried out in the proper manner (ICly organized, ya know) and if people remained active. Which seems to be a HUGE problem for big events like that.

What's a GM summit?

I am assuming either a big-ass banquet party involving all the leaders and members, or something like the EU have which have a weird ass meeting involving all the leaders to discuss politics.

https://www.fairytail-rp.com/t20061-guildmaster-s-annual-assembly This was the last attempt at a summit. I think the problem was that the GMs could invite people to take part on it, and too many cooks just spoiled the broth.

But it would be interesting to see how things have changed. For instance there would be some guilds missing from that table (Fairy Tail being dark, Rune Knights no longer a thing), and how the leadership has changed in the last year.

But you'd need to really make it something, and have people dedicated to it.

I was thinking on this and I think that with some thought Dev team can plan for the Guild Masters Annual meeting.

Well, the first time the Guilds hosted one, I ran the first one since I was Event Mod at the time, it went great. Went all the way up until it's planned conclusion.

The second one, I also tried to host, got erratic as hell due to activity. (Guildmasters and characters changing mid-meeting and stuff!) The most recent one on sight about 6 months ago. However, we pay less attention to actual IC PLOT and keeping history on the site these days, so "who was who" was more difficult to track. Since New Guilds kept on popping up all over the place. There was also "this Guild should be this" included in the 2nd Guildmaster's Meeting and jaunting between Guilds which wasn't a real problem OOC back in the day. We just fought it out IC.

A third one would be very possible, but people would have to be much more serious about their established roles. And not be thinking about changing chars or making another major switch for it to go fully to plan as it did the 1st time.

As far as the Grand Magic Games. It's only been tried once, also hosted by me back in the same days.

It actually went fine for awhile, we just needed more Judges than I hired.....that's it. Activity was an issue for Judges due to some of them also being in the tournament. But that's it.

As far as the Grand Magic Games, I have a solution.

One HUGE exciting topic each match. Open to spectators.

Ardere v. Hera

So it feels like one huge Tournament taking place over a month OOC and IC both like it's meant too.

For instance, in Fairy Tail the manga a BUNCH of side shit is going on during any given match right?

Just because the Staff "Opens" a topic named Ardere v. Hera doesn't mean a bunch of crazy shit isn't going to happen in that topic. It just means that Ardere's posts and my posts will be us dueling.

Imagine one big topic at the "Domus Flameu" forum. Yea there's a fight going on, but also a bunch of MAJOR side plots going on between other characters as well. As epic shit tends to go down at the Grand Magic games...which is such a huge gathering of Mages and Normal Humans as spectators alike all staying at hotels and different areas in the city of Crocus...like a damn powderkeg ready to xplode lol.

The other 50 people will be doing other things in the thread ect.

So I propose we do one match / event at once. You can even divide it up.

Topic 1: Guild v Guild Magic Show Competition (Non Paticipant Votes Only)

Topic 2: Swimming Competition (Dice Based + Bonuses for char)

Topic 3: 1 on 1 Battle

Topic 4: 1 on 1 Battle

Topic 5: 1 on 1 Battle

Topic 6: Guild v Guild Footrace (One nominee per Guild)

Topic 7: 1 on 1 Battle

(Intermission Banquet to Calculate Each Guilds Point Tally)

(Keep in mind that Dark Guilds are allowed to participate as long as the Magic Council or the King of Fiore gives them as pass to participate in the games)

If we do it such as this. Not only will the whole sites attention be focused ON the Grand Magic Games at any time, but it will also virtually eliminate the possibility of activity ruining an Epic Arc IC. One topic at a time. I used to do it for the site all the time for huge Arcs and it worked / works flawlessly.

It all sounds good and exciting, but it also kinda forms a question for me - what about those that are not part of any guild? Are they just permanently locked out of these events or can just participate in Grand Magic Games as spectators?

big events tend to fail on large sites because of a lack of activity. There's always one or two people who need to hold off because of real life stuff. This results in them getting skipped which can mess up the flow of the thread and cause the active members to lose their motivations which lowers motivations even more.

Over organization can cause a problem in and of itself. If you want to blow something up, just do it. I mean give a heads up your going to blow stuff up so people can get a moment to write in plots and stuff but just do it.

GMG is to find out which guild is the strongest. Many of the people that would be fighting would be people within guilds.

Of course people who are not in guilds can participate as the spectators to the games.
