The Social for Non Social Wizards (Social/Mossino/Ruminal)

Ruminal was quietly minding his own business high up in a tall tree drawing a sketch of the nearby town of Magnolia. He had only just started like 20 minutes ago and was already done with the outline of what he had in mind to draw. He had the town, the forest, the ocean and the mountains all in this one little picture. His skills at drawing were amazing considering his age. He was only 6 years old and was able to draw like a pro. He was wearing a white and red kimono and had silver colored hair on his head and his fox like ears and tail. After doing the finishing touches on the outlining he stopped for a moment to stretch his arms and legs cause he was sitting for to long with his legs crossed and they were starting to feel numb. While he was doing so he lost his balance and began to tumble down the tree and landed hard back first onto the ground. Luckily he was able to grab onto a few branches to slow his fall so he didn't get seriously hurt. "Ow..." He quietly said drawing it out for a short second. He sat up slowly holding his head with one arm and his back with the other rubbing them to try and ease the pain and to see if he broke something. His drawing landed about 5 feet away from him where an unexpected person was standing.

Nothel had been pleasurably walking through the forest in his full leather outfit, cloak and all. He had been lost in his though, having a pretty good time until well. He had heard branches crinkle and snap before he got to this little area in the woods. He had thought it was some animal until well, a kid dropped down in front of him. This was...quite odd even for Nothel standards. Shaking his head slightly, he looks down at his feet at the drawing. Amazingly, it was really good, even though this kid only looked like eight at the most. Smiling slightly, Nothel bends down and grabs the notebook, handing it back to the kid. It was even weirder that he had a tail and ears...he had only seen this one place else, yet he can't remember.

He then holds out a hand, "Here, stand on up kid..." he had a soft spot for kids, definitely a loner type like this one.

The stranger looked familiar but Ruminal couldn't remember from where? He noticed that he was looking at his drawing and crawled to it as fast as he could to cover it up. "This... It's nothing. Don't mind this." Ruminal said in embarrassingly. "Here, stand on up kid..." Said the stranger offering a helping hand. "Uh... Thanks?" He said taking his offer. Once Ruminal was on his feet he started backing up slowly for a few feet with his drawing being held close to his chest to try and hide its contents, him not knowing this guy was making him feel uneasy. Looking at this guy Ruminal was certain he had seen this guy before. Not many people dress themselves from head to toe in leather armor. Was then when it hit him, he has seen this guy around the guild hall back home a couple of times. Ruminal was never one to mingle and tend to hide himself in the back of the room watching the people go about there business but this one... Whenever Ruminal saw him in the guild hall he was either looking at the job posts or sitting quietly by himself as well. It had been about a good long minute sense anyone said anything and this was starting to get awkward. "Um... Your new to the guild right? I mean to say  "Black Rose". I've seen you sometimes around the guild hall." He said quietly and nervously. Ruminal felt as if he just made this meeting more awkward.

For someone normal, the awkwardness would be nearly tangible. Sadly, Nothel wasn't a normal person, so the child's actions just seemed like actions to him. Waiting a bit for the child to speak, he nods, "Yes, I am apart of Black Rose, you must be kin to Kakuma, aren't you?" he says stoically, leaning against a tree, watching the child. Pretty odd for a small child to be out around the woods by himself, but Nothel couldn't say it was weird. I mean, in all honesty, he is pretty strange himself.

Though he has to commend the kid, he has never seen him at the guild hall ever, and he is outside alone. He seems to be a loner like himself. This made Nothel feel a bit more comfortable around someone else like him.

"Yah, I'm Ruminal Blackflower son of Kakuma Blackflower and I don't think I ever got your name?" He replied. In truth Ruminal was a little curious as to why Nothel was out here. Ruminal was out here cause he felt like traveling to see the major cities of Fiore. But once he got here and saw how many people lived in these big cities felt crowed and decided to view them from afar. He found a nice place with a beautiful view and felt inspired to draw it. As it is Ruminal never gets out much and even more rarely so, talks to other people. "So what are you doing all the way out here? Mother send you to come take me home or something?"

Nothel thinks on the question for a second, why was he out here. Oh yeah, he was returning from a job, that's why. Took a detour and got lost, and ended up here. At least he knew where he was now. He'd shake his head at the child.

"No, I am not here to collect you Ruminal. To be honest I hope Kakuma never gives me that responsibility. I am Nothel, the newest member to Black Rose. And...well I was just taking a detour, and this forest is quite beautiful. Away from the masses of people in the cities."

He takes a breath after his long talking. Smiling slightly at the child, he waits for his response.

As Ruminal was waiting for Nothel to replay to his question he observed the rogue like wizard very carefully. Every movement and look he made while he was thinking. Why was he taking so long to answer a simple question? Is he hiding something? Finally Nothel replied and it dawned on Ruminal what he was hiding. "You got yourself lost didn't you?" Ruminal called out. "While you were thinking you had the look of confusion on your face and in your eyes and you paused when you mentioned "Detour"." Ruminal explained. "Those weren't my only clues either, from the look of your cloths you look like you were just out on a job and on your way back home which is in the other directions." He said and pointed towards town. "You can talk a boat from there back to the island." He finished. For a 6 year old Ruminal was very bright. He likes to spend lots of his time reading as well as drawing. Other times he likes to show off how smart he is compared to the grownups and yes it has been known to get him in trouble from time to time being the little smart ass he is.

Nothel frowns slightly at his response. How did this kid know exactly what he was thinking? Just from facial expressions and body language? Or was it a lucky guess? Nothel's frown turns into a smile as he starts to laugh.

"That is amazing, yes you read me perfectly, good job child." Smiling genially, he holds out his hand for the child to shake. He thinks they were probably have a decent relationship from this point on. He can respect sarcasm and smartassness like that, it was pretty funny.

"Also, thank you for the information...Now, let me describe you, you are out here alone because you dislike the company of people. Being the child of Kakuma you probably have above average intelligence, which was displayed when you read me perfectly." Taking a breath, he would continue, "Therefore, you came out here to be alone for a bit, and like anyone that is highly intelligent and young, you pursue the art of drawing."

Ruminal shakes Nothel's hand with a smile on his face to the complement he was just given. But then it was Nothel's turn to read him. After Nothel was done with his best guess based on the information Ruminal had given him thus far, it was pretty spot on. "Not bad." Ruminal replied shaking his head up and down slowly impressed. This seemed to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship for the two, for Ruminal it was about time. Being as smart as he is there wasn't much hope for him finding a friend his own age so he never tried. If anything they would label him as a nerd and not speak to him other than to pick on him and as such Ruminal just avoided it completely to not give them the chance. Wasn't like Ruminal needed school anyway which is why Kakuma has been home schooling him. "So what do you like to do for hobbies?" He asked curiously.

Hobbies? Oh, hobbies... Nothel hadn't thought of hobbies in a while. He rarely did anything for fun anymore. Most of the time he was working and got sidetracked by random people, like this. His smile fading he tries to come up with a good answer. Knowing even if he lies the child will know he was. Grinning slightly he responds, "I don't do hobbies anymore kid, I just do jobs, nothing for fun anymore. Well, unless you count work as a hobby but...I don't think it is."

He shakes his head, trying to remember his childhood. His hobbies back then were training and reading. Both boring things to normal people. At least Ruminal would get the reading part. Most people despised training though. Nothel never really had a problem with it.

Ruminal could tell Nothel was telling the truth but then again he could just be more careful about his actions... Nah he was telling the truth. "Sounds to me like we need to find you a hobby. You can't just work all the time its bad for your health." Ruminal paused for a moment to think. "Maybe check out some Taverns? From what I understand Taverns are a good place to sit and relax and useful for gathering information while your out on jobs or looking for jobs to do." Ruminal suggested. As Ruminal waiting for Nothel's reply, he kept trying to think of other hobbies to throw out there. "Would also help to know what you like or are interested in."

Nothel would be hiding something he does like to do. But admitting it to anyone would be a sin to him. Shaking his head again he replies truthfully, "I like to read, but find no use in it anymore, and Taverns are too noisy and such. Though the alcohol is good at times." He tries to bury into his mind, trying to figure out something he could do without consequence to his own morals, or make him a laughing stock. He wouldn't find really anything other than the blunt answer of reading. Well...there is one...he actually likes to cook but. He couldn't admit that to anyone. He tried it once and simply adored it. Though, he hadn't attempted it in a while. "Sorry kiddo, I'm not the most fun guy."

Nothel mentioned that he liked to read, right there could make for a useful hobbies. "I think you should explore your fascination with reading." Ruminal suggested. "Reading can be used in almost every field possible. You strike me as an adventurous type.So maybe you could ready about the many different types of enemies that there are. Its as they say knowledge is power. How you think I'm so smart? I spent 3 years studying this world before entering it and still I continue to explore new knowledge." Ruminal continued to explain as he walked over to the nearby tree he fell out of and pulled out a backpack from the otherwise and pulled out a book. "You could barrow this if you wish. It has all the information you need on a few of the many different dangerous creatures of the world, what there capable of and how to beat them and even some information that could be useful for finding and hunting them." He held up the book to Nothel, it had a leather binding and had the title "Dangers of the Known World" on it.

Nothel looks down at the book and reads the title. Muttering it to himself he nods, "That looks like a pretty good read actually, thank you Ruminal, can I have it?" He smiles lightly, sliding down the tree so he can sit down for a moment. To be honest he was tired. Being lost and walking this long took his energy away from him so fast it wasn't even funny. Closing his eyes slightly he leans back against the tree, "What about you Ruminal, having Kakuma as a parent must be exciting, or scary, or both."

The question caught Ruminal by surprise, so much so he didn't know what to say. Its true that Ruminal hasn't been in this world very long and in all that time he hasn't spent very much time with his mother or his... "She has been very busy, running the guild and all. When I was born I was left with my grandmother in the Dark Celestial spirit world till I was old enough to handle myself. In this world that was no more than a month or so. Sense then I mostly spent my time reading drawing and been out on a few jobs with... My father." Ruminal with a bit of a hesitation in his voice. "Not something I really want to talk about so why don't we change the subject?"

Nothel blinks, grinning to himself. Oh, he has a more tragic or well, just weird past. Oh well, Nothel won't pry more than he is allowed. Leaning up against the tree he waits for a second then realizes, "Hey wait, we are far from the Black Rose guild hall, like, really far, what would you do if something happened?"

He sizes the boy up again, he doesn't seem like a fighter. What would he do if someone attacked him? Run? That doesn't work all the time. Shaking his head he looks at the child, wondering what his response will be.

Found the question kind of odd, they both were in the same magic guild so odds are we both knew some magic. However Ruminal was having... Issues with his magic ever sense he entered this world. So the question really is, What would he do if something came up. "Well I would take in the situation and use my size and head to my advantage." Ruminal answered."I would use my magic but... Between you and me, Ever sense I entered this world my magic hasn't been working. Mother is the only one who knows this so please keep it a secret." Ruminal asked.

Nothel looks at the child, "You're magic doesn't work? Well that isn't good, you need to get that fixed." He smiles lightly at him, "If you think I can help, ask me..." He honestly means that. Nothel felt powerless when he didn't have his magic. And he will help anyone else get their magic going. Ruminal could see his spaced out look, remembering his past,

Ruminal appreciated the offer to help but there was nothing he could do in this case. "Its just that my magic power was far higher in the Dark Celestial spirit world than it is here, being part dark celestial spirit its natural I would have greater power in that world. So as a result of me coming here I lost most of that power so I just have to work on getting stronger till I can finally use it again." He explained. "I feel that I'm almost there just need to keep working on it and it will be back in no time." Finished as he slumped down next to a tree feeling a little bit bummed.

Nothel nods, understanding his situation. "When I was younger...twelve or so, I discovered my magic. I felt so powerful after it, and like a nobody before it. I know where you are coming from kid. It sucks."

Nothel remembers when he was young and didn't have magic. It honestly sucked, he felt like a nobody. But once he had his magic he was able to do things...Sinful things...but he hasn't thought about that in years.

As Ruminal was getting ready to answer to Nothel's statement a group of wild boar walked into view. They weren't looking to happy either. "Uh? Nothel?" Ruminal said while pointing behind him. "We have company." He added with a surprisingly calm voice. There were three in total looking like they're getting ready to charge. Ruminal got up off the ground and walked up to Nothel. "Welp, good time for you to show me what you got big guy." He said with a pat on Nothel's back then began to climb up a tree where the boar's can't get him. "Good luck buddy!"

Nothel would be confused for a second? Huh? What was going on? Oh...boars? Hah... "I got this kiddo hold on...Cover your eyes." Standing up, Nothel would draw his sword, wanting to draw the battle out a bit. He could instantly just destroy these boars, but that isn't as fun. The first boar stamps the ground and then charges Nothel. The boar was slow, and Nothel dodges to the left, grabbing the boars neck, he pulls it back. The sight is brutal. Nothel slaughters the boar by destroying its neck and killing it quickly. He turns, blood covering his legs. Raising his hand, he would crystallize two pieces of blood. Sending them at the other two boars he would pin them both of them in the head, killing them instantly.

Nothel seemed ot use blood magic, something more commonly used for dark guilds. It was odd to see someone with it out of a legal guild.

Ruminal watched in a mix of amazement and horror. After everything is said and done, Ruminal climbed down to confront Nothel. He slowly walked up to him and said "Blood manipulation magic. The power to control and manipulate blood into a weapon. Rather rare magic to be coming from a legal mage." He said sarcastically. There was a moment of silence before Ruminal said "So... How did this come to be? You said you "discovered" your magic and that it made you feel powerful." He said not wanting to assume the worst just yet. "This isn't the kind of magic to be saying things like that. Its dark magic so..." He stopped himself before he said something he shouldn't. "Well... Why don't we just start with the explanation. I can tell your a good person so I can at least give you a chance to explain yourself."

Nothel blinks at the kid. Oh yeah...he didn't know what his magic was...and it made him seem like he was a dark guild. Grinning he sheaths his blood covered sword. "It did make me feel powerful kid. I could dispose of whoever I wanted. Though that would be reckless. I used my magic to push my limit so I could do heavy lifting, that is what I meant. As for it being a dark magic...it is. And I debated joining a dark guild kid. And I still might...but I prefer not tracking one down right now." He would be lying about the powerful part. It was slightly obvious, definitely to a kid as smart as Ruminal. Was he hiding that he has killed?

Nothel was hiding some that much was obvious and he was lying about powerful part. It didn't take Ruminal long to put two and two together. "Alright a couple of questions come into mind. First off how many people have you killed? And second, why?" He said with a cold angry stare. "And I'd be careful on your next choice of words. May determine what I'll say to mother." He continued to say crossing his arms. Ruminal wasn't in the mood for anymore lies or cover stories. He wanted the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. If its one thing Nothel can learn from this moment, Ruminal has little love for evil. Maybe because of an incident from his past.
