Ruminal Blackflower - A Wizards Grace (Job)

Job Info

Ruminal stood in front of the job board anxious to practice how well his magic works in this world. He spent the better part of an hour deciding on which job to choose until he found a good one to test his magic. With this mind made up finally he grabbed the job poster and got it approved by his guild master which so happens to be Ruminal's mother. She approved the job instantly with a little quick remark of it being about time that he is finally going out on another job. With that process done he set out for Beanstalk Village to talk to the village mayor.

After purchasing a boat ticket to the nearest coast to Beanstalk Village which happened to be Hargeon Port, Ruminal sat by the rails of the boat and watched the waves of the ocean toss and turn to pass the time. About 30 minutes later Ruminal was wishing he brought a book with him to pass the time better cause he was quickly getting bored. Was then Ruminal had a thought, his magic is fully active again so why not summon some company but who to talk to... Cait Sith? No all he want to do is prank the people on the boat which was starting to sound better and better every second but Ruminal doesn't like to prank people he doesn't know.

Ruminal figured summoning Fenrir or Valefor would just cause a panic being as there so big and... Well scary looking to the common people. So that just left one, he stood up on the deck and raised his hand into the air channeling his magic energies. "I beckon the to my side, The Playful Carbuncle! Ruby!" With a bright flash a little carbuncle with a ruby atop its forehead appeared before Ruminal. Its fur was a light green color and eyes as blue as the ocean. "Hey Ruminal! Long time no see!" She said jumping on him to give him a hug. "How have you been? You been eating right?" Ruminal forgot how energetic she can be and the questions just kept coming for some length. "Hey Ruby calm down. I know its been a while. I've been unable to use my magic for a while. If you haven't noticed yet we aren't in the world you were last summoned in." Ruby perked her head up and being to quickly look around and then noticed she was on a boat  on the ocean. "Ooh. We are back in the mortal realm! That's neat!" She replied. "Neat..? That it?" Ruminal replied a bit confused. "Oh I've been here many times however I haven't been to the Dark Celestial spirit world before you so I was enjoying myself there."

Ruminal quickly changed the subject seeing that this one was going nowhere. Was then he noticed that a bunch of people on the other side of the boat was starring at him and Ruby and quickly was at a loss for words. Ruby quickly caught on to what was going on when she looked around to see what Ruminal was looking at. "Ah I see what's going on here, you aren't use to being around so many people seeing as how the Dark Celestial Spirit World doesn't have as many people around." She pointed out. Ruminal just blushed in embarrassment and turned his head away not wanting to answer the question. "Hey its alright nobodies perfect, even a god." Ruby saw that it didn't change the situation and quickly came up with a temporary solution. "Oh I just remembered! Be right back!" With that she vanished in a flash of light and was gone for a better part of a minute before returning with a book. "I completely forgot to return this to you, its the book you lent me a while back. I finally finished it!" She said with a smile. It was a hero story book about a guy who was born special but had nothing to his name and was alone and ended up dying a hero to the people of the world.

"So how did you like it?" Ruminal asked. "It wasn't bad, kinda bummed out that you don't have the other volumes. I wanna see how it ends!" She said flailing around on the ground. This story was a three book series and she only read the first part but what Ruby doesn't know is. "I actually found and read the other two books. I have them back at home." Rubies reaction went from flailing to jumping for joy. "YAY! Lets go get them right now! I'm dying to know how it ends!" Ruminal sat down next to Ruby and leaned back against the railing. "I'm afraid we can't I'm on my way to do a job. A village is having some kind of plant problem and I may need your help. But when we get back I'll grab them and there yours, for a while that is." Ruby was confused by the fact that Ruminal was going to help someone and he was calling a job but was quickly overshadowed by the fact she was going to be able to read the rest of the story. After some celebratory yay's  she had to ask "So what do you mean by job? You being paid to help people?"

Ruby and Ruminal continued to talk for the remainder of the boat ride. Finally after several hours they docked in Hargeon Town. From there they can take a train all the way to Oshibana then from there they would have to walk the rest of the way to Beanstalk Village. Ruby road on Ruminal's shoulder as they made there way through the port town to the train station. Once their they found out they got there at a lucky time cause there train was about to leave in the next twenty minutes. If they would have happened to be late, they would have had to wait till tomorrow till the next train to Oshibana. Ruminal ordered his ticket and took his seat on the train. "So how long is this train ride going to take?" Ruby wondered. "About 5 hours or so, we have to pass through three different towns before we get to Oshibana. So I'm thinking we wont be there till night fall which means we will have to find a hotel to stay the night unless you want to travel across the country side in the middle of the night." Ruminal explained. Ruby took a seat next to Ruminal and pouted.

Ruminal looked out the window for the first hour or so of the trip before falling sleep for the rest of the trip. It wasn't until Ruby was shouting and shaking him till he realized that they have finally arrived in Oshibana. It was dark enough out to just see the outline of the sun's ray's over the horizon. They got off the train and began to search for a hotel for the night. After about an hour they finally found a cheap one on the edge of town near the exit they have to leave through to Beanstalk Village. After checking in and finally getting into there room Ruminal flopped onto the bed excused even though he just slept 4 hours. "Uh... Why does Traveling always tire me out so much." Ruminal complained. "You need more  exercise." Ruby snickered. "Ha ha..." Ruminal responded. "No seriously most of the time your either sitting around drawing or reading both of which aren't bad hobbies but still you need to get out more often and stretch thought legs. How you expect to become a hero one day if your always lazing about?" Ruby lectured. "Yes Mom!" Ruminal said sarcastically. "I'm going to bed, gotta get up early tomorrow. You staying the night here or no?"

"I'll head back to my world unless you want me to stay although I would prefer you to save for magic power for your job. Sounds like you might need it." Ruby suggested. "Alright, if I transform I should make it there by tomorrow evening. I'll see you next time." Ruminal replied. "One question before I go. Why not Summon Valefor? He'd be more than happy to fly you there." Ruminals eyes opened wide with surprise that he didn't think of that sooner and facepalm's. "And here I call myself the smart one..." Ruminal signs. "I could have been there long by now!" Ruminal venting his frustration. "Hey sometimes its good to make the journey then hurry it along. Plus like you said you haven't been able to summon us in a while so you got use to getting around without us. That's a good thing. Means your willing to go the extra mile by yourself and saving your strength for when you need it." Ruby said trying to comfort him. With that said, they said there good nights and Ruminal went to bed. The next morning Ruminal woke up and walked about a mile away from the village in order to summon Valefor.

"I beckon the to my side, Lord of the Sky! Valefor!" Ruminal said with his hand in the air above his head channeling his magic energies. With a flash of light coming from the sky high above Valefor flew in and swooped down to the ground. "Greetings young one. Thou doth need my assistance?" he said. His body was rather skinny and his arms were replaced with mighty giant wings. His face was much like a birds complete with a beck and feathers along his neck. His feet replaced with large talons and a set of golden rings hung from his inner right wing thing. "Yes, I need a ride to the next village. If we follow the river side here till we see a large beanstalk in the distance that will be where I need to go. Also how have you been? I assume Ruby told you guys the story already?" Ruminal explained. "Yes she has, and I'm glad to see you have regained your strength. Well then, shall we take get going?" he said bending down to allow Ruminal to climb up on his back. "Hold on tight, don't want you falling off now." He said getting ready for takeoff.

As Ruminal road on Valefor's back on following the river side to Beanstalk village, he wanted to try and do some catching up with him sense its been so long sense the last time. "So how have you been the past few months!?" He shouted sense it would be hard to hear with the rushing wind. "To be honest, rather dull! I've traveled across my own world to many times and stuff rarely changes! Been to long sense I've been to the world of mortals and I'm looking forward to seeing what this world has to offer nowadays!" Valefor explained. "I see, well I'll make sure to keep that in mind if I come across anything interesting!"

After about 2 hours they finally saw a large beanstalk off to the left far in the distance. Valefor quickly maneuvered towards the village and landed about one hundred yards from the entrance. "Thanks again for the ride Valefor. Expect me to call upon you sometime soon for battle and make sure to tell the others too for me please." Ruminal said climbing down to the ground. "Will do and not a problem. Feel free to call upon me again if you need a ride back home as well."

After Valefor went back to his world Ruminal made his way to the village. It took him a little time but he finally made it to Beanstalk village. He still curses himself for not thinking of flying here sooner but what's done is done. He made his way through the village and to the mayors house. He knocked on the door but no one answered. "Hello!? Anyone home!? I'm here to take care of your plant demon problem!" With that said Ruminal could hear someone franticly unlocking stuff and then the door swung open. The man who answered the door was rather old and Ruminal figured he must be the mayor. The mayor had a look of confusion on his face before saying "What are you doing outside kid its dangerous get in here this instant!" He reached out and grabbed Ruminal by the arm and pulled him inside then quickly locked the door in 5 different places. "Paranoid much?" Ruminal calmly asked a little confused. "And another thing you shouldn't say such lies at a time like this!" He lectured. The statement left Ruminal dumbfounded. "Uh... Lie sir?" he asked. "Yes saying your here to take care of the demons. Leave this problem to the professionals. They should be here any day now." He said looking out his window.

Ruminal not being taken seriously by the mayor annoyed him greatly. "Like I said before your looking at the wizard that's going to take care of your demon problem. I maybe young but I am more than what you see. The names Ruminal Blackflower, son of Kakuma Blackflower guild master of Black Rose." He stated strongly and fiercely. His eyes showed everything and more that he wasn't a normal child. The mayor quickly realized he had made an error in judgment. "I see... Sorry about that. Thank you for coming as quickly as possible." Said the mayor apologizing. "Yah... As fast as possible." Ruminal thought to himself while giving off a weird smile. "Anyway, lets hear it, what details can you give me about the situation. Any and all information maybe crucial to the cause." Ruminal asked. They both took a seat in his study for the debriefing. He explains that there crops began to wither about a week ago and that they sprouted thorns and the strange glow came only moments later after that. They did what they could but nothing seemed to fix the problem. About two days ago a passing wizard showed up and tried to help but when he got here the plants became demons and killed him and has been terrorizing the village sense.

After listening to what the mayor had to say about the situation Ruminal closed his eyes to think of the situation. "I would also like to ask you to avoid damaging the crops at all costs. If it truly is dark magic at work here then it should heal the crops when dispelled." The Mayor asked. Ruminal remained quiet continuing to think. Finally after a few suspenseful minutes Ruminal finally spoke. "This is diffidently the work of a dark wizard using plant magic. This village is the main source for food for most of Fiore correct, so that's probably what he's aiming to do. Halt the countries main source of food in order to weaken it for some purpose unknown." Ruminal explained. The mayor feared the worst but tried to stay calm and collected. "Also that mage you said that died worries me. There had to be many demons out there to take down a wizard. Another thing that bothers me is that sense the demons didn't start popping up out of the ground till after the wizard showed up means they react to magic power. Which means they probably know I'm here. So here is what I propose we do." Ruminal said standing up looking the mayor straight in the eyes.

'Monster Dice' :

"So do you think you can do it?" Ruminal asked after explaining his plan. The mayor leaned forward cuffing his hands in front of his face. "I can't guarantee anything but I promise I'll try." He replied. With that said Ruminal turned to leave and set his plan in motion. "God speed little one..." Said the mayor once Ruminal had left the building. Ruminal made his way to the fields to confront the demons. He stood up on a hill overlooking the farmlands to take a long look around to see what he is up against. He saw at least 2 types of plant demons scattered around the farmlands. Corn and broccoli demons were ravaging the farms and Ruminal would count at  least 40 of them in total. It didn't take long for them to noticed Ruminal watching them sensing his magic power. "Oi! Who's the brat?" One of them asked another. "I don't know but he is giving off magic power so a wizard maybe?" The other shook his head in agreement. "Yes defiantly. Lets kill him like the last one guys!" With that they all started to charge. Ruminal stood there with a smile on his face. "Catch me if you can." He calmly said before transforming into his wolf form and took off running towards the south side of the village.

Ruminal run as fast as he could but the little plant demons were hot on his trail more specifically the broccoli demons. They were faster than Ruminal first thought and quickly caught up to him. There eyes seemed to glow redder with the intent to kill. One got up next to Ruminal and went in for an attack with the intent to ram him with its shoulder. Ruminal jumped to avoid the attack and then bounced off its head to force it to fall back but there was another who caught up and went in for a punch. Ruminal was still in mid air and couldn't move so he had to think fast. Ruminal measured the demons distance and velocity compared to his own and found out he will hit the ground before the demon could hit him but it would be close. The moment Ruminal touched down onto the ground he quickly did a dodge roll off to the right to avoid the attack then quickly got back up on this feet and took off in a full sprint. The broccoli demon slammed his fist into the ground where Ruminal was and was left in his dust. He wasn't to far off from where he was heading towards and he was getting tired quickly. He just needed to hold out a little longer.

Ruminal franticly running as fast as his little legs would allow made it to a large unused open field and found a large rock to sit on while he waited for the demons to catch up, and to catch his breath. It didn't take the broccoli demons long to catch up and quickly surrounded him. Ruminal transformed back into his human form and stood tall on the rock overlooking the surrounding demon plants. "Thanks for following me guys." Ruminal said panting. "Now that we are away from the farmlands... I can fight with my full power!" he yelled raising his hand into the air. "I beckon the to my side, Lord of the Moon! Fenrir!" With a flash of light a majestic wolf appears before all to see. His fur has a blue almost spiritual color to it and eyes a bright yellow with no pupils. "Any whom harm the divine will know my wrath!" He roared then howled into the air causing his aura to unfold. The four broccoli demons closes to Fenrir charged forth. They jumped into the air and came crashing down fists forward but Fenrir was ready for them. He jumped towards them his body turning into wind like bullets shaped like a pack of wolves. Each bullet hit all four of the demons sending flying down to the ground.

As Fenrir dealt with the demons in the front Ruminal turned to deal with the ones in the back. His Kimono began to shift in color to resemble Fenrir's look. "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil!!" He said powering up then did as Fenrir did moments ago. Ruminal's body transformed into wind bullets and crashed right into the 4 closest demons then reformed on top of the rock. Pissed the demons charged forth and jumped up above Ruminal and leaned there heads back for a headbutt. Ruminal jumped back onto Fenrir's back to avoid the attack. The rock was destroyed as a result, reduced to rubble. "Hold on!" Fenrir yelled and began to run past the demons so they weren't surrounded. As they passed by, the demons tried to get in a hit here and there but Fenrir jumped left and right to avoid the attack until they were in the clear. "Thanks, take a rest for now." Ruminal asked. Fenrir retreated back to his own world and Ruminal raised his hand again. "I beckon the to my side, The Mischievous Cat! Cait Sith!!" With a flash of like out came a little 1 foot tall black and white cat standing on its hind legs and up right like a normal person. "The King of Pranks is here!"

The demons stopped in there tracks as they saw the cat appear and burst out laughing. "HAHAHA!!!! What's the little kitty  going to do! Purr for us!" they laughed and joked. There mockery only made Ruminal and Cait Sith chuckle. Cait Sith's eyes turned dark with evil intent. "Laugh while you can, cause you wont be laughing in a moment." He warned. "You guys shouldn't have done that." Ruminal said. "Lets see how funny this is!" Cait Sith screamed. "Now your in for it." Ruminal said taking a few steps back. A large amount of magic power came erupting out of Cait Sith, not only that but it seemed like he was getting... Bigger? Yes Cait Sith's size was quickly growing bigger and bigger till he was as big as a mountain. "Oi!! The the heck is going on! I don't know! Clearly this cat has giants magic! AH~!!!" The demons said panicking. "YOU! DUN!! GOOFED!!!" Cait Sith bellowed as he raised his foot into the air and slammed it down on top of the poor demons. When everything was said and done the demons would realize that they were not in fact crushed and was perfectly fine but they would still feel as if they were crushed. "Oi what just happened?" the demons stumbled confused. Meanwhile Ruminal and Cait Sith took off somewhere hiding behind some rocks and they gave each other a high five.

Meanwhile Ruminal and Cait Sith snickered in there little victory the Corn Plant Demon's finally caught up to them and slowing approached them from behind. They both turned to see the demons panting like they just ran a marathon. "You*huff* your dead *puff* brat!" One of them said as all of them took in a deep breath. "Uh... Can we maybe talk about this?" Cait Sith said giving off an innocent smile. The corn demons began to exhale. "Guess not..." Cait Sith replied with a frown. The demons fired there special attack which was a volley of corn speeding towards them at bullet speed. The attack hits them dead on causing lots of dust to scatter around them. When the dust settled Ruminal and Cait Sith were perfectly fine. All the bullets seemed to go right through them and hit the rock behind them which was dented up pretty good. "Oi *huff* What's go*puff* going on here? There *huff* illusions *puff*!" They yelled still panting to catch there breaths. Meanwhile Cait Sith and Ruminal were laying on the ground not to far away carrying some twigs over them for cover and trying to crawl away. The illusions then disperses having done its job of fooling them while they attempt to get away.

'Normal Dice' :

Ruminal and Cait Sith slowly inch by inch tried to sneak far enough way where they could make a run for it but Cait Sith crawled over a twig and it snapped. The shock of the twig snapping caused Cait Sith and Ruminal to freeze hoping they were to busy to notice. One or two of them looked over their way and they started sweating like crazy. The demons who noticed the sound was scanning the area but didn't see anything and turned away. With that they signed, loudly I might add, and instantly covered the mouths with their free hand but it was too late. All the corn demons were looking there way. "Oi! There they are! GET EM!" One of them yelled. Ruminal and Cait Sith jumped out from there hiding spot and began to run like hell. The Broccoli demons noticed what was going on off in the distance and started to run after them as well. Ruminal noticed they were coming too and were very quickly catching up. "Cait hop on up! I have a plan." Cait Sith did as instructed and Ruminal activated his Divine Kimono's powers. His Kimono turned black and white color patterns similar to Cait Sith and stopped to turn towards the on coming enemies. "Try this on for size!" Ruminal said slamming his hands to the ground. The ground began to quake and open up under the demons feet and under the crust of the earth was molten lava. The demons fell into the lava one by one burning alive and screaming in agony. Was then Cait Sith began to glow. "Aw man, my time can't be up already. Good luck buddy!" He said with a double thumbs up and a smile before being sent back to his own world. With Cait Sith gone Ruminals Kimono reverted back to normal and the illusion ended. All the Demons would once again notice they were fine and still alive but left with the burning sensation from there apparent dip on some lava. Meantime Ruminal was still running for his life and gain some distance from that distraction.

Was then Ruminal noticed the signal flare off in the distance, they were finally ready. Ruminal transformed into his wolf form once again and started to make a dash towards the signal flare. The demons weren't ready to start another chase and tried to do what they could to keep him from running away again. The corn demons franticly fired there bullets at Ruminal trying to hit him and one managed hit him right in the back of the leg causing him to fall to the ground. He quickly transformed back but the Broccoli demons were right there coming at him from above. Ruminal quickly began to roll around trying to dodge as many as possible. The ground from where he was cracked and shook a bit. Once he had a second to something other than dodge he raise his hand into the air. "I beckon the to my side, Lord of the Sky! Valefor!" He said as fast as he could. All the demons were getting ready to end this, the corn demons inhaling for there special attack and the broccoli demons encircling him to keep him from running. Right before the corn demons fired there attack Valefor swooped in and grabbed Ruminal at the last second and took off into the air. Ruminal signed with relief. "Thanks. That was to close." Said Ruminal. "Anytime." Valefor replied. It wasn't to long before the demons were firing like mad trying to shoot them out of the sky. "Try to keep them on us and lure them to that section of forest over there." he said pointing out where the signal flare was last seen. "On it!" Valefor replied. He turned in order to swoop down towards the enemies and started charging up his energy ray attack. He fired the ray straight through the middle of the crowd of enemies. It seemed to have missed them but was quickly replaced with an explosion from the ground knocking them all to the ground. "Catch us if you can weaklings!" Valefor taunted as he passed by them again.

Valefor made sure not to be to far away from the enemies following behind. Ruminal hoped they were to stupid and pissed to notice what they were doing but by looking back and how they were shouting and firing at them he did think it would be a problem. Once they made it past the tree line of the forest Valefor began to descend to the ground landing in a clearing in the forest. The demons were playing it a little smarter this time having the broccoli demons wait for the Corn demons so they could fight together instead of running off again and were quickly catching up to there position. "Thanks again Valefor, I'll take it from here." He said taking running off to take position. His leg still hurt from earlier but it was well enough to run on. Valefor disappeared back to his world and the demons entered the area. "Oi where that brat go! I don't know he disappeared!" The demons yelled out of frustration. Suddenly a voice from nearby screamed "NOW!!!" and some weird powder stuff came falling from the trees above. It was some kind of plant killer and it seemed to poison and even take out several of them. Soon after a bunch of what looked like the villagers of Beanstalk Village came charging out with pikes, hoe's and other farming equipment that could be used as a weapon. Weakened so badly the demons didn't stand a chance and were quickly taken care of. Was then the mayor came out from behind Ruminal who was having Ruby heal his leg and was maintain her aura for the villagers for some extra protection during the last of the fight. "Good job Ruminal. That was a very brave thing you did." Said the mayor. "No problem, I see you convinced the entire village to show. Good job yourself.

After returning to the village when everything was said and done Ruminal was getting ready to leave when the mayor stopped him at the gate. "Wait! Young man! Your forgetting your reward!" He franticly shouted. Ruminal waited for him to catch up. It was true that the crops evil influence was lifted but Ruminal didn't feel like he deserved the reward due to him having to get the village involved. "Nonsense!" The mayor protested. "We wouldn't have been able to beat them so easily if you haven't risked life and limb to distract and weaken them so. Not to mention this was all your plan so you have more than earned this so take it." With a smile Ruminal happily took the reward. "See you around and call for me if you have anymore plant problems." He said before taking off for home this time by flying all the way.
