So, I was thinking about suggestions to the site and I realized something - A lot of suggestions get flat out ignored, or are just never thought of again after a couple days, weeks, etc. This topic is going to be about the topics and suggestions I re read and thought they would make great additions to the site. It pained me when I seen some where everyone in the topic said "this is a great idea," yet the idea never got implimented. So yeah, people I did this. I read through every. Single. Thread. In the suggestions forum. Some were really good but not acknowledged, some were just stupid, and some actually got implimented, be it intentionally or not. However I do want to shine some light to these. And I will be shortening the descriptions to save you guys the trouble of rereading all those threads like I did, but there will be no TL;DR in this. I hate those. No offense to those that do that thing, but reading is slowly dying and it is good for you. Especially on a text vased rp forum. And yeah, this is the 15 year old wanting people to read. Anyways, here ya go.
My opinion on what has been happeneing to the site - Felicity Vrago - December 30th, 2014: This is just something that is really common in suggestions, and the recent leave of Decayuss just got me thinking about this. Everyone complains about nerfs in their apps yet the people complaining were the people boasting about how awesome and OP their magic is. Mods get trashed on for how long they take to grade apps and stuff, despite THEM HAVING LIVES TOO. They don't get paid and aren't obligated to help you, so you trying to force them into Sanic Speed is just dickish. Seriously. Plus all the rage about the rules changing (cough cough Force changes) is just annoying to read on everyone's part. If the mods and admins change the rule, it is probably there to make the site more balanced so that we ALL can have fun, not just a select few.
death and arrests - Hiro Vilenn - January 8th 2015: I really like this. I do. The chance of imprisonment and death is always imminent in a universe with faction wars going on... Like every god damn day. I know people get attatched to characters and all but there is a difference between OOC and IC. Using myself for an example. OOC, I love my character. However IC i try to do whatever my character would do. If she tries to take down a dark mage leagues above her, which she would, she has the possibility of death. Now of course this could be abused, so like Hiro said there should be limitations. If a murderous fiend and a Garou Knight are going at it, the GK might arrest and the Dark Mage might kill. That's a good situation. That way that thread would automatically be "death enabled" because... Well it just is. However someone saying hi to a dark mage doesn't deserve to get speared through the heart. That'd be outrageous. This is an honest test of how good of an RPer you are, if you can extend the limits to just "I don't wanna die." Plus, using the murderous fiend idea, WHY WOULD THEY LET YOU LIVE? That's bringing OOC into IC because that character wouldn't do that.
Spell Template Difficulty - Nimbus - January 17th, 2015: I like the 3 strengths 3 weaknesses thing, and I would also love to see some scaling of strengths. For example, a really powerful strength would require more weaknesses, and really weak strengths could require little weaknesses. This would be up to the mod to determine what a strong and weak strength is, that way people won't spend hours making BS weaknesses for a simple D Rank Cantrip.
teams - Minoru's anger - June 28, 2015: The whole team rule bugged me. Lights can only team up with lights of the same guild, darks can team up with any dark, Guildless can team up with other guildless and darks and Independent.... Well we don't know. I think Independent and Guildless should be able to team with whoever they want, Light mages should be able to team with any light and independent, and any dark should... Well stay the same. They can pair with any independent and dark as is so yeah. Like right now, Roy the Chanter and I were planning on making a team, but he wants to become a Sabertooth member because of an event in the near future. So that just crapped all over our plans because we can't team up... Right.
Active Spell Integration - Serapheal - July 14th, 2015: I'm surprised this suggestion got no replies. At all. IT WAS A REALLY GOOD SUGGESTION. As well all know you can't use an unapproved spell in a topic, unless it is a non-canon / OOC battle like making everyone S Rank just for style or whatever. However there also was a rule that if you are in a combat thread or job, you can't use your magic if you got it approved whilst in the middle of the thread. Well to this I reply: look at many RPGs or just Pokemon that includes leveling up in the middle of battles. If I'm in a job thread, why can't I be awesomw and have a burst of power, awakening new abilities that I didn't have before. Just sounds awesome, IMO.
"The Guidelines" - Eris - August 4th, 2015: I've brought this topic up before and I'm doing it again. I was originally planning on using Time =/= Power by Akeya, but I think Eris did it just a tad bit better. Essentially, the rules are not guidelines, but instead limits. This is rp, where imagination is encouraged. And when every spell of equal rank is just copied and pasted with an alternating element, it tends to seem not all that creative. No one ever makes an app that goes over the "guidelines" if they have read the rules, because they know it'll be denied, and no mod (unless I'm wrong but I still have yet to see) ever lets members go over the guidelines, should they want to. Plus, with the removal of PvP having rewards, and jobs being PvE anyways, it doesn't really matter except in events so, mods, honestly why do you care so much? I'm not saying let an app be unbalanced, just let them have breathing room with their effects, speed, range etc so they don't feel suffocated in a corner.
Wandering Spells - Eris - August 4th, 2015: Being a guildless mage seemed to have no benefits. We don't have guild scale jobs, we didn't have any guild jobs before I made one (For the Glory of the Guildless) and we don't have Guild Bonuses (to my knowledge) When doing jobs. Yes we have team bonuses, but everyone did. There seemed to be no payoff with becoming guildless, so I would like some sort of "Guild Spell" for the GL to do. I mean, you still would need to be high rank and all that, it is just that it would make being guildless at least a LITTLE bit more worth it aside from obvious plot devices.
Toggle Spells - Irina Naginata - October 22nd, 2015: This is cool, it essentially gives us the ability to go kaio ken in the middle of battle. If I activate a spell and it costs 10% MP and I get to infinitely keep it on until my mana gets too low, I'd expect 10% MP to be drained every once and a whole, so it still gets balances plus the obvious drawbacks of the spell. Toggle Spells sound not perfection but still a cool idea to have.
[Your Challenge, Should You Choose to Accept It] - Akeya - November 7th, 2015: The purpose of this topic was to get people to stop just bringing their hatred for stuff into the suggestions forum and actually make it a suggestions forum, not a CHANGE THIS RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I HATE MODS forum.
