It didn’t take long for the attackers to launch their offensive on the Infinity Hydra members, but thankfully Halibel was quick enough to negate the fireball that had come their way. Once the enemies were in his sight, Rowan immediately zeroed in on their guild tattoos, but unfortunately, he couldn’t quite identify what guild they were a part of. The markings looked familiar, but the plasma mage quickly shook the thoughts away and focused on the task at hand. It didn’t matter where the enemy mages were from, they had attacked the town and it was their job to take them out. Rowan just hoped that Halibel wouldn’t go too overboard and outright murder these people. With his goal clear in his mind, Rowan got to work supporting Halibel. The duo was up against a group of 5, and if they were casters, Rowan would definitely be able to tip the scales in Team Halibel’s favor.
Stretching forth his hand, Rowan formed the ever familiar plasma barrier around his teammate.
"Plasma Barrier!" If Halibel was going to do any damage, she’d need a way to close the gap between herself and the enemies without having to focus on dispelling spells. With that taken care of, Rowan prepared an offensive spell of his own hoping to distract the enemies just enough for Halibel could get in close. Before the plasma mage could launch his spell, however, the group of 5 mages immediately split into 2 separate groups. Clearly these mages were much more intelligent than the usual imps and beasts Rowan was accustomed to fighting. The pair of Hellfire Oblivion mages decided to take on Rowan, and were quickly making their way forward with fireballs at the ready, while the group of 3 shuffled warily towards Halibel. Because Halibel had revealed her magic right off the bat, they knew what they were dealing with and how much caution they needed to exercise. On the other hand, Rowan hadn’t shown any signs of being able to use any sort of combat magic, and the mages figured he’d be an easier target. Unfortunately they were half right. Rowan definitely knew magic, but the plasma mage’s stomach turned over uncomfortably. One against two, he could possibly do, but while supporting Halibel? Shaking his head, Rowan hoped that the barrier would be enough to help Halibel before springing into action himself.
Concentrating on both his eyes and the enemies before him, Rowan activated 2 spells at once.
“Plasma Vision! Plasma Bolt!” Almost instantly, the magical world came into view while the physical realm blurred. Without missing a beat, an orb of plasma energy formed in Rowan’s hand, and he quickly fired it off in the general direction of his attackers. The attack wasn’t meant to hit them, and it didn’t. Instead, Rowan was buying time to learn about their attackers whilst showing off a bit, hopefully scaring the enemies into caution. From what Rowan could see, all the mages were just as powerful as Halibel and himself, and they all used fire magic except for one in Halibel’s group. This information was quite important, and Rowan quickly relayed it to Halibel.
“Halibel! They all use fire magic except for that one! It’s shadow magic!” This sudden outburst surprised the plasma mage’s assailants, and they quickly rushed forward, realizing the tactical usefulness of Rowan’s presence.

- Spells Used:
- Plasma Barrier:
Name: Plasma Barrier
Rank: C
Type: Plasma, Defensive
Duration: Casted instantly. Persists until destroyed or for 3 posts, whichever is first (80 damage disperses the barrier). Can have multiple simultaneously, but does not stack. Can replace older one.
Cooldown: 4 posts
Description: Rowan forms a 1m radius plasma barrier around himself or a person of his choosing as long as they are within 20m. The barrier forms instantly and is completely transparent until it is triggered. The barrier ONLY blocks magic, including melee types. It is important to note that physical weapons, attacks, etc. will pass through completely unhindered.(I.E. A fist covered in flames will have its flames, and to extent its extra damage, negated, while the fist will pass through and do its damage. However, a fist MADE out of fire will be stopped by the barrier.) If the magic was created within the 1m radius of the barrier, it will hit. An interesting characteristic of the barrier is that it will follow the person it is cast on, and it is only one way, which means the person inside can throw spells out of the barrier. If the barrier finds conflict in its position it will shatter (i.e. If a person with the barrier walks towards a magical wall, the barrier will shatter because its inability to continue with the person.)
Strengths:
It blocks double C-ranked damage easily
It lasts until destroyed or for 3 posts, whichever comes first.
Can be cast on allies as well as self
Does not hinder spells on inside
Weaknesses:
Only affects magic
Higher rank spells will easily obliterate it
Spells within the barrier aren't negated, therefore close range combatants do not care.
It is possible to block ally's projectiles by standing in the way
Disperses when in positional conflict
Will not protect against instant spells that aren't projectiles
- Plasma Bolt:
Name: Plasma Bolt
Rank: C
Type: Plasma, Offense, Signature
Duration: Instant Cast
Cooldown: 1 Post
Description: Rowan fires a simple plasma projectile that does 1/2 rank damage (20hp). The bolt is about the size of a baseball, and travels just as fast as one. The bolt disperses after 40m. While it is made of plasma, it has very little energy, and can be blocked by physical obstacles.
Strengths:
No MP cost
Fast projectile
Short Cooldown
Weaknesses:
Low Damage
Easily Dodged
Has a range limit
Is magic based, but can be easily blocked by physical objects.
- Plasma Vision:
Name: Plasma Vision
Rank: D
Type: Plasma, Support
Duration: 2 Posts
Cooldown: 3 Posts
Description: By augmenting his eyes with a small amount of magic, Rowan can see the magic within other people and basic information about them.
Percent of Magic Power people have
Very basic information regarding their magic type (i.e. Fire, healing, slayer, etc.)
Location behind walls
However, everything non-magic becomes distorted and blurry, which makes it difficult for Rowan to see where he’s going and/or avoid physical attacks. Another drawback is that plasma vision is similar to night vision, should a huge (and I mean huge) amount of magic be suddenly released, the magical “brightness” can blind Rowan for a few seconds.
Strengths:
Allows Rowan to gain basic information about the magic of others, and their magic status
Allows Rowan to see people behind walls
Weaknesses:
Hinders normal vision
Doesn’t give overly detailed information
No direct offensive usage
Large bursts of magic usage can be blinding while active
