nothing can dim the burning
light
The blonde haired woman watched as the man clad in a black robe had taken a few steps back while words of theirs echoed out, that finding them would mean finding strength, but if she didn't find him that she would become one with the deep grave. She would sigh as she had noticed a huge barrier that had been constructed while the second set of words echoed. It really seemed to her that she was trapped, but she would uncross her arms and walked over to the barrier. She would slowly raise a hand to it before setting her hand on it and applying a little bit of force. Even from just doing so for a few seconds, she knew it wouldn't budge with what little force she was applying and lowered her hand from the barrier.
"I guess there's no harm in trying at least once..." She would say to herself, take two steps back before quickly kicking the barrier with full force. However, the moment the kick had hit the barrier, her foot seemed to be repelled with the same amount of force that she had put into the kick. She lost part of her balance and slid back rather than entirely flying back. She would scoff slightly as she stood up and dusted off her hands as she had needed them to keep herself from going even further than she did. "Well, I have no choice now, it seems." She said to herself, fixing her outfit slightly before walking into the building that apparently was the haunted guild.
She walked at a decently slow speed, for her anyway, and took her time as she was fine for the time being even considering the fact that she didn't know what would be happening during this. With each step, she would hear the floor creak, though after a while of walking it didn't seem like she was actually going anywhere, since each step seemed to just be the same length of hall. "What the hell is going on here? I feel like I haven't gone anywhere since I entered this damned hallway." She would say, looking behind her. The sight behind her certainly bewildered her as it was pitch black, as if she had actually been going somewhere. She stood where she had stopped, gently scratching her head out of bewilderment. Though after a few minutes, there would be an unpleasant surprised that hit the wall to her left after having entered the guild. It was an arrow, but it didn't seem to be made of anything she knew of. Then again, she didn't know many things that arrows were made from. She would look both up and down the hall a few times to see if she could even see who had shot the arrow, but it was a bust. No luck at all.
She would scoff again before attempting to head back the way where the door was, and after a few minutes, it seemed that it was the right way... but how? How in the hell does a hall become endless and stop being endless when you turn around? Daiki shook her head, becoming confused even further before just going on, moving a bit faster, as to make sure that whoever had shot the arrow wouldn't get a good shot towards her again. As she made her way to the now appeared branches off from the main hallway, she would attempt to open the first door she came across, but it seemed to be locked and she didn't want to go and have a repeat with what happened at the barrier, in which she went to the next door, which had opened without her doing much, considering when she went to open it, the door fell in towards the room. Luckily she didn't try to pull the door open or else she might have already started the whole 'test' of having to find the man off with a bit of dumb damage done to herself. As she stepped into the room she would notice a single table with a candle in the middle with three doors on each wall of the room. Daiki looked at the table and could see a note on it as well, and could barely make out lettering on the doors as well. She would walk into the room, in which the moment she stepped off the door, it would stand back up by itself and not budge as she tried to open it again. "I should have seen this coming... goddamn it..." She would say, a bit annoyed now as she walked to the table and picked up the note. 'Whoever enters this room must clear out the connecting rooms.' is what the blonde had read from the note, before setting it back down. She tried to pick up the candle, but it seemed to be affixed to the table. Growling ever so slightly to herself in frustration, she would walk up to the doors to try and read the wording. Sadly it was still much too dark for her to fully read any of the wording that was on the door, and she didn't want to waste magic power to light up the room for a short amount of time to read the wording.
For quite a few minutes, she stood at one of the doors, squinting to read the words on it, but there was only one of the words she could read from it, which seemed to look like 'child'. She scratched her head, before sighing and turned around to look at one of the other doors but after she stepped away from the door, she would hear the door open slightly and a child crying. She quickly spun around, seeing light shine through the opening the door had made, and slowly opening the door further after moving back to it. She would peek in, to see a child sitting in the corner. She would blink a few times, as she noticed the room the kid was in was quite similar, and that the boy had his back in one of the corners. Though this seemed similar, it wasn't until the boy raised his head for a moment did it entirely click with Daiki what was going on. Somehow, the room was projecting a memory from her past, but it seemed to be so real. The boy had white hair and as he lifted his head up for a moment, she had noticed his red eyes.
This was most certainly Daiki as a kid, long before he had been changed into a woman by a demon and their orb. But what was this? This memory wasn't something that she had liked to think about and had locked it away. "Where'd you go, Mom?! Why'd you leave us?!?" The young Daiki had shouted between sobs. Daiki looked back into the room she stood in as she was just peeking into the room where the younger her was in, and looked at how much she had changed. Having gone from a man to a woman in an instant and having to learn to be a woman as well as how women's clothing felt so far into life after having known so much about being a man. She would slowly exhale and inhale a few times as she didn't entirely know if the younger her, or him in this case, could see her or if she could interact with him. But after making sure she was calm, considering she felt like a key have been put into a lock she had made for some of her deeper memories and even the mention of her mother even started to cause her to feel something that she didn't want to right now, not when her life was on the line if she didn't find the guy who had sent her the letter.
She exhaled deeply before moving to the door and taking a step inside, her shoes making some slight sound, but the boy didn't respond. "Hello..." Daiki would say, which had slightly caused the boy to jump which had surprised Daiki slightly since she thought that she wouldn't be able to interact with the boy. "W-who're you? Why're you here? Do you know where my mom is?" The boy said, through his tears. Daiki was still in a little shock that she could interact with herself as a child, but now it was getting weird, since she had never felt any sort of femininity up until she had been turned into a woman by the orb with all those other people who apparently turned back into their original genders or had stayed the same. She hadn't seen anyone else who had been there since then, so she had no clue.
Back to the topic on hand, Daiki would look down before she spoke, in response to the boys questions. "I'm just someone who heard your crying, and I'm a bit lost. As for your mom... I... don't know where she is. If I had any idea then I would he-" She said, before getting cut off by the boy. "If you can't help bring my mom back then go away!" The boy shouted as as put his head on his knees and continued to cry. A few tears started to run down Daiki's face, but for the moment, she didn't care. She would walk closer to the boy who had seemingly started to ignore her even being there before kneeling down and putting her right hand on the boys white hair. He would continue to sob with his head down, but Daiki would still speak. "The truth is, I haven't seen my mom either, since I was about your age in fact. So, trust me, I'll help you out." She would say, knowing that she was lying, but she didn't have much of a choice in this situation other than to comfort the kid. While he did keep crying he would speak up, with his head down though the sobs. "You promise?"
Daiki nodded slightly, wiping away the tears from her face with her left hand. The expression on her face was a bit solemn, but since the kids head was down, she would speak once more. "I promise." She would say. The room would quickly brighten up, and force her out of the room, closing the door once she was out of the room. The old words soon disappeared before a single word appeared, on the door. 'Done'.
She would stand up as the force that had removed her from the room also didn't allow her any time to stand up before doing so and dusted herself off as she became teary-eyes from the event in that room and not noticing that one of the marks on her back had started to light up. She had kept all of those memories locked up for a reason, she didn't want to relive any of that, but apparently someone, or something, was able to dig inside her mind enough to gain access or just show her what had happened. She would take a few steps back towards the door she had just been forced out of and placed a hand on the door but had pulled her hand back almost instantly as the door felt as if there was a fire behind it, but she felt no heat otherwise and smelt no smoke. She would wipe away the years that were gathering in her eyes before walking over to the door on the opposite side of the room.
Just like the door she had just come from, this door had something written on it, though this time it was just a singular word. 'Death'. Now here was something that was decently fresh in Daiki's mind, only by a few months anyway. She grabbed the doorknob, which felt colder than it really should have been and opened the door, getting a strong stench of iron after barely opening the door. This room was quite a bit larger than the previous one, but even with the stench of iron in the room, she didn't see the source of it from the doorway. She would sigh, plug her nose and entered the room before the door closed behind her. She did notice three doors along one wall in the room, but before she did anything, she would move off to the side where she wouldn't really be moving to, or at least didn't plan on doing so, and would vomit, due to the smell of iron being too much for her or at least the delayed reaction was a bit better than having done so right as she had opened up the door. Or at least that was her thoughts on it.
After she finished vomiting, she would spit out anything that remained in her mouth, wiped off anything that was around her mouth from doing so and made sure none had gotten into her hair. Luckily, none had, but she didn't take much time to check. The door on the right she opened, but didn't reveal anything within, aside from pure darkness. Still not wanting to waste any mana, she would leave the door open. Onto the door on the left of the wall. As she opened it up, it was the man she had killed when Rekka had shown her that he was trying to force himself onto a woman and that his father would bail him out of any trouble. She stood there, frozen since he had watched Rekka cut the mans body into small pieces. After a few moments of being frozen in shock she would shake her head. "I-I had to do it. Rekka said if I didn't, then he would have continued to do so after his father bailed him out of trouble..." She would say, before closing the door and pressing her back against the closed door. "Someone like him couldn't have stayed on the streets and c-continued to do what he did. Y-Yeah..." She said to herself, reassuring that she did the right thing, considering that she left Fairy Tail mainly so that she wouldn't become so paranoid around them that she wouldn't be able to stay any longer and would most likely resent them, but the slashes on where her guild tattoo for them is symbolic for her that she's no longer with them, though it might just look like she might have gotten attacked and blocked a blade slash or seven with that arm. After a few minutes, she would exhale deeping having finally accepted the fact that she had actually killed someone, and thanks to Rekka who had paid off one of the Rune Knights to change the reports so that the magic seen would be different than what was actually used, she was home free from that for a while.
Finally in this room, she would move towards the middle door, still feeling quite a bit nausious from the iron smell and opened the middle door without hesitation. Though the moment she had looked in the door, she wished she had hesitated. What she saw was the corpse of Rita, back when she had thought Rita had been dead. Some slight feelings of sadness started to arise, but when she remembered that someone had given off more than a hint about what Rita would have said not too long after she had been found and the guild hall found burning. She had left the guild, unofficially, and just wandered every now and again. Rage quickly started to build within her as she remembered that Rita had apparently just faked her death and betrayed her. Rita had been her first ever real friend, considering she had trouble actually making friend even though she was nice to people but they weren't truly her friends.
She would soon feel the same force try and move her out of this room as it had done in the last room, though this time she was expecting something of the like this time so she had grabbed the door that she had opened that showed Rita's 'corpse'. She held onto the door until the force had suddently stopped before her rage continued into something of a pseudo god force, where she didn't entirely go into god force due to not having eaten her element, so she'd still be using up mana should she use a spell while in the rage induced fury. She would be pulling on the door that she had been holding onto when the force was trying to fling her out of the room. Though it had taken her a while to get door off of the hinges as there was apparently some magic within the walls of the building that would help protect it, but with the rage fuled strength would outlast the magic itself in terms of pulling it.
After having pulled off the door from the hinges, she would throw it intothe first door she had opened in which the door seemed to only ho halfway into before stopping and folling flat on the ground. Now that the door had been pulled off from the hinge and thrown into the room that only showed pitch black darkness, she would end up moving to the door she entered from the room and kicking it with all of her strength, breaking a second door off of its hinges, and pretty much making it into four different pieces with where she had kicked it. Now she moved back into the room, kicking once more, and breaking part of one of the walls, just leaving a hole that leads into darkness. However, this would allow her to have spent what rage had built within her was already spent.
After feeling the rage subside, she would feel the force trying to force her out of the room, before she would leave the room, slower than normal as she felt slightly tired since she had spent a good amount of energy in that. "Goddamn... that took more out of me than I thought... I need to learn control..." She would say, as she leaned on the table of the 'hub' room that was in the center of the room. She panted for a few minutes.
Once she had spent her time resting at the table, she would go to the door that was opposite the room from the door she had originally entered the room from the first time. Though, there was no text on this door at all, but would open once she was within four feet of it. Inside she saw someone sitting in a chair looking at the wall opposite the door. Daiki couldn't much tell who it was, but all she knew was that it seemed to be a guy who was sitting. She walked up to the door, looking inside the room from the doorway, not being able to see anyone else in the room. However, when she took a few steps in, the door would close like the other two rooms, but this time she noticed that someone else had closed it. The person who had closed the door was wearing a mask and some ambiguous clothing before the person who was sitting in the chair had disappeared and the chair disappeared as well.
Now that Daiki noticed the person who was sitting in the chair had disappearedas well as the person who had closed the door behind her. After a moment, the room would seem to extend a few feet further before two figures would appear on the opposite end of the room and would soon become recognizable. One was her father and one was one of her siblings. Daiki had kept her family in the back of her mind, rather to not talk about them, though not sure if this is real or if it's an illusion like the other two rooms. But now that she's this close to, at least the illusions, of her father and one of her sisters. Before Daiki had decided to just up and abandon her family several years after her mother had gone missing, she had dropped her first name, Ai, and just using her family name as her full name. The sister that stood completely still in the room, or the illusion of, was Akemi and was her younger sister by three years. Daiki's older sister went by the name of Izumi, and was older by two years.. While the eldest sibling Daiki had was a brother who went as Ren and was older than Izumi by two years.
But yes, as mentioned, the only reason Daiki dropped her first name was after blame and finally been too much for her to take from her father and her younger sister, who both blamed her for the fact that their mother and their father's wife had gone missing after having taught Ai magic. She moved to put her back to the wall and the moment she did, both Akemi and their father walked towards after having looked at her. Akemi stopped a few feet back but as her father walked closer to her, with such an angry expression but the moment he reached a few feet from her she would speed up but would soon disappear once he had almost run into her.
After having flinched at the fact her father had seemingly run into her, but when she opened her eyes she would see Akemi within three feet of her and looking a bit pissed off. "Why are you here? Why the fuck are you here? Haven't you gotten enough of making mom disappear?!" Akemi would yell, before continuing. "Why the hell did you have to have want to become a mage even with father's orders telling all of us not to?! Why? Because of you, we all lost mom! But because of that, I haven't been able to forgive you at all, Ai!" She contintinued to exclaim what she had said, but would eventually draw a bladed weapon on Ai. Her eyes would widen and would move out of the way as Akemi had charged at her with the decently large knife. "It's not my fault, but I don't know why she went missing! All I know is it wasn't my fault!" Ai would tell her. Even though Ai was no longer male, which made the name a bit awkward to have, until their mother had gone missing Ai had actually embraced the name.
Each time Akemi slashed at Ai, she would decently dodge away from her, but after a while Akemi would actually draw blood. It seemed the hatred for Ai that Akemi held with her for so long had grown. Her body was still tired from the rage that she had felt mere moments ago. By now, Ai had to either continue to take the attacks or defend herself which eventually meant that she'd have to kill her sister. For the next few minutes, she would continue to hesitate each time about defending herself, taking more and more attacks with that blade, leaving her clothes bloodied and ripped. "Please stop, Akemi. I don't want to hurt you. You're still my sister." Ai said as a tear started to roll down her cheek. Akemi didn't say anything but looked a bit angrier than normal and would eventually run Ai into one of the corners.
As Ai watched Akemi run towards her with that knife, she would be facing death or killing her younger sister. She didn't want to die in the slightest but she cherished her younger sister more than enough to even have the ability to willingly kill her in self defense. "Please forgive me..." She would say as Akemi would get close enough for Ai to move the hand that Akemi held the knife with and would turn it back into Akemi's torso. Tears ran down her face as she felt her sisters blood on her hand as it was on the hilt of the knife before removing her grasp from the knife, before holding onto her sister, ketting out a few sobs before gently letting go Akemi down on the ground whose life was escaping her faster than she would have thought, and the moment she noticed that it had done so. "Please forgive me... Akemi... Mom... everyone. I didn't want to do this. I just wish there was some other way... Fuck... WHY?!?!?" Ai spoke and eventually yelled at the top of her lungs, hugging the lifeless corpse of her dead younger sister.
She would run her hand that wasn't covered in her sister's blood down her sister's face just so she could close her eyes, before noticing the door to the room open up and then the original door fell once more. She would set her sister back down, pulling the knife out of her sister, keeping it in her hand before speaking. "I'll be back for you, I promise..." She said, as tears continued to run down her cheeks. She would walk out of the room and the 'hub' room and into the hallway. She would walk over and look into the door that had been locked previously was no longer locked.
She would look in the room, the walls, floor, and ceiling all white and another door on the other side of the door. As she stepped into this new room, expecting the door behind her to close, but it didn't. The door that was on the otherside of the room had opened, rather than the one behind her closing. From the open door, the woman watched as a figure dressed in a black robe and a skeleton mask walked out.
