A night to remember [Job | Solo]

-Well, well, what do we have here? This ain't something I see everyday -Vargas muttered to himself as he sat in his usual position: feet on the table, with one over the other, and leaning on his chair. On his hands was a letter that he had just been given in hand by a courier; it was the first time in his life something like that happened. As his eyes surveyed it, he also realized that it was one of the events in which he'd pretty much find himself completely out of place, despite maintaining his devil-may-care attitude. Thing was, he had been invited to a formal, grand ball in the opulent country of Minstrel.

-"It is an honor for me to blah, blah, blah, grand party, blah, blah, blah, formal ball... ettiquette?! God damn it" -he read the whole thing just once and in a flash, and he already knew that he could simply toss the thing around as a paper ball, make it into a fancy plane, or give it to someone else. After all, he had never been into such kind of events now... had he? However, as he thought of it, a wild idea crossed his mind.

-"Wait, wait. So, I guess that place is going to be filled with all kinds of snobs, but think about it. If I get a contract, and do a good job..." -as his mind connected the strings, he jumped from his chair, excitedly, and released a howl of eagerness.

-JACKPOT!

Should he be successful there, other big fish might want to get him to do some jobs for them, jobs that, no doubt, would be well paid... Well, well. Now there was a reason to go all smart for one night.

It seems that the whole ball was simply there for entertainment, and had no other purpose. Probably a celebration from someone's business or love life, or anything like that. To be fair, Vargas had no interest in anything else but the contacts he might make there; otherwise, his place was there, in the tavern, sharing his experiences with anyone else that might give him some conversation and was pleasant to have around. Still... how had he gotten invited to such an event? Shrugging that detail off, he directed himself to Hargeon Port, from which the ship was leaving that evening.

Inside, he could find a set of smart clothes for the occassion. He couldn't say he liked wearing such garments, but it was true that he had the adequate figure for wearing suits. Plus, unexpectedly, the one who had left it in the assigned room had gotten all his sizes correctly, which made him ask himself who could it have been. Unless he had meet the one inviting him in person, there was no way that everything could've gone so smoothly up until that point.
-"Looks like I'm in luck today."

He had hit jackpot, after all... if he played his cards correctly, that was.

When the ship arrived to its destination, a well-dressed Vargas exited the vessel, still uncomfortable in said attire. It had been years... wait, scratch that. He had never worn a suit and wasn't planning on doing so, but it seems that his preferences did not matter there.
The man, clad in a navy blue suit with dark brown shoes, black socks, a black belt with silver motives, a blue shirt, and a striped tie was asked for his name, to which he simply stated "Vargas Seig". After being called "sir", he grimaced, not liking it the least bit.

Still, his attention was caught after he was told something.
-Milady is already waiting for you, so please, go inside.
Wait, someone was actually waiting for him? So he was right, after all. The one that sent the invitation had to be someone he had met in the past, although he could not exactly point out who. Ever since he had arrived to the country of mages and wizardry, the white haired male had met a ton of people during his travels for work, and had only stopped to actually make conversation with a few of them.

As he entered the ball room, music was already playing, and he suddenly heard a familiar, femenine voice calling out for him.
-Vargas! Over here! -she called out, making him tilt his head to the right.

Now, he managed to recognize the woman in front of him. It was no other than the same he had been chatting with back in Rose Garden, during that job... Lihai, was it? Upon meeting her, she excitedly asked him if he was surprised to see her there, and from that point onwards, a small conversation followed suit. Afterwards, the two of them went for a dance, seeing how she was the one behind the invitation. To be completely fair, despite Vargas's body not being used to dancing, his reflexes made up for it, and he managed to copy the movements almost flawlessly.

-Huh... this is actually easier than I thought it'd be -he muttered loud enough for her to hear, prompting a tease on her behalf. After a while, the Seig separated from her, since someone else was talking to him at the moment. Apparently, it was a man who had already heard of him from Lihai herself. Huh... she was really important, was she not? From which family might she hail?

At any rate, the next half an hour would consist in Vargas, as charming as ever with that charactersitic devil-may-care attitude, talking to them about his way of living, how he earned money, his adventures as a guildless mage, and then mentioned his private business. Most of the present people would show interest in hiring his services if they ever had trouble, though they were conscious he still was growing. They were eager, however, to see how far would he make it.

In the background, Lihai was pouting, visibly distressed by the lack of attention from the mage, of whose presence she was responsible. After dismissing the group of men, Vargas returned his gaze to her, although she was mad at him.
-What? Did I do something wrong? -he asked with a devilish grin and his right eye closed in a prolonged wink.

The rest of the night would transpire in a similar fashion, and he had to admit it; despite him not liking ettiquette a bit, that type of events could be fun with the adequate company. Perhaps he'd drop by some of those a bit more often? Only time would tell.
