Theo couldn't seem to get away from the advertisements recently. The iLac was everywhere, plastered on billboards all over the train stations, in restaurants and it even had a two page center fold in Sorcerer Weekly. It was as if they really wanted to people to buy it or something. That or the Sorcerer Weekly couldn't find any women to pose for them. Theo never really understood why someone would do that to themselves, pose in ridiculous positions for older creepazoids to ogle at them or some such. Perhaps it was just because he was just young, or maybe that he had seen horrors that he would rather not think about. Every time he did, his left eye twitched and he needed to make sure his eyepatch was still covering the burned out hole that use to hold his eye. Every time he thought about it he started to get depressed and he let out a sigh and leaned his head against the window as the train passed through vast open fields on its way to the Neutral Zone.
Heo was only here because the advertisements had said something about giving out free iLacs to mages, also his guild master had told him to go. He had recently been skulking auto in his quarters at the Saber Castle in the Ace of Spades for days now. It was never a good night when that happened. The last time it did, Theo had frozen his whole room and the guild master was not pleased. Old stone and ice it turned out was not a good combination ad he had been chewed out and made to repair the damage areas. So in order to avid further iceifacation of said room, Hikari had told him to gt himself an iLac. Now he was on the train on his way to the Neutral Zone for one.
He had heard about the Zone before, but had never actually been there for a really good reason, it had made him nervous. A place where magic was neutralized was not somewhere a mage would intentionally go. As the train crested a hill, Theo lifted his head off the window and looked in awe. Chimneys pumped steam into the sky, and there was so much going on that he didn't know where to focus on. He thought that the steam punk theme the place had was a tad overkill but to each their own he thought to himself.
“We will be arriving shortly,” a vice over the intercom said, “all mages aboard please prepare yourselves for magic deficiency.”
Theo sighed, he had been warned about his as well and it wasn't something he was looking forward to. They passed an invisible barrier and heo suddenly became dizzy as though he had been spun around too much. While the sensation wasn't pleasent, he managed to get over it quickly. As the train slowed to a stop he looked down at his hands in wonder as he tried to turn them into ice as he had done so many time, but he couldn't. He didn't realize how down it made him feel to no longer be able to use magic, he sighed and went to the doors as they opened into the station.
He found the iLac store easily enough and showed the sales person his guild tattoo and things went underway. They explained all he wonderful features of the iLac and gave Theo his very own, which he wore like a watch and headed back to the station.
