    I
t had been almost a week since the four of them, Destiny, Elaine, Suriel and Azurius Tade had returned from their not-vacation on Crescent Island. When Azurius returned at first, he was mortified at what he'd seen... The entirety of Hargeon was in disarray. The streets were scarred with massive gashes, buildings toppled entirely, and some were destroyed. Worst of all the damages was when he and Elaine had arrived at the guild hall... and noticed the guild hall was reduced to nothing more than a flat piece of rock. At that point in time, Azurius had fallen to his knees, eyes wide opened and jaw unable to keep shut. His first thought at that time was 'What if we didn't bring Destiny...' as he knew whatever monster had come here... whatever monster had caused all this destruction.... Whatever force had obliterated the former castle, leaving not a single spec of debris... It would have given Destiny no opportunity to escape.

On this same plot of land, thousands upon thousands of wounded, some near dead citizens of Hargeon, travelers, vacationers who were just passing through, and sailors all strewn about, sleeping on rags, palm fronds... anything that would keep their skin from touching the cold marble foundation. He knew he couldn't heal them all... he would die (again) if he took on so many wounds, and some were missing entire limbs. It was only a month they were gone... and in that time, their home had been annihilated almost entirely. A shadow appeared in front them, rising from it was a human looking man that gave off a death defyingly powerful demonic aura. He was dressed in a butler's uniform, tugging at the wrist of a white glove that had holes at the tips of each finger where a two inch long, black, razor sharp, needle-like claw protruded. "Sir Azurius, Lady Elaine, I do trust your vacation was relaxing?" he said in a calm, inviting tone as though there wasn't a scene of death and destruction around him. "Wh-what... wh..." Azure's eyes flickered between a dim glow, and none at all as he tried to get the words out. "What happened? You see, a rather large being appeared from the sea and laid waste to the city. Please sir, don't feel distraught from your absence." "It wasn't just us fighting. Hundreds of wizards, evil, good, and ambiguous had gathered from all over. We all fought to our fullest, but even with numbers we couldn't stop it. The Magic Council deployed the Etherion Cannon at the last moment after we weakened the bastard. That should let you know just how useful you would have been if you were here." a female voice called from behind them.

Azurius turned around slowly, seeing a young girl with a black hooded cloak. The hood was pulled down to reveal extremely long, white hair tied in pigtails that were tapping the floor as he stood there. The girl was using a crutch, she had scars on the left side of her face. She walked... hobbled over to Azurius and kneeled down, wincing from the pain and placed a hand on his shoulder before pulling him in for a hug. His eyes shot wide open, shaking as they tried to take in the world without gouging themselves out. "Calm down... all we can do now is repair the damages, and work to be ready for next time." she said gently, using a calm, caring voice.

She released him, letting him slump back and sit on his knees with the same distraught expression about him. The girl turned to face Elaine, walking up to her before giving her a hug and a small kiss on the cheek. It would feel like a child had just done so, something Elaine would never be able to explain on her own, something Azure would never find in the now destroyed library no matter how long he would have looked. She took a step back, holding Elaine's hands gently and giving her a soft smile. "You probably don't know me, I'm normally out of the guild hall so I don't get to welcome our new members. My name's Kateri, the Hero of Seas."

"What... what happened to your leg...?" Azure asked, looking at Kateri with a look of despair. A smile was given to him "Nothing really, just got a bit banged up when I was trying to escape the cannon before it fired." her voice was friendly, warm, inviting... For those who knew Lamia Scale's ranking system, the name 'Hero' was the guild's old term for 'Ace' which was basically the most elite of the guild's elite wizards. Being labeled a Hero of anything meant that the individual was of incredible power, and that person bared the name of Lamia Scale with each step he or she took. In fact... Kateri would be the only 'Hero' in the guild, and Azurius had remembered seeing her name in the guild's member list now. This girl, who seemed to be younger than Elaine, to possess that title made Azurius realize just how useless he would have been here. But despite having that power, she had come across as being a very caring, kind, thoughtful individual. "Elaine, I know you have a home here. A lot of the city got moshed, but I think you should go check to see if your place is still in tact." she said, still smiling gently even though she stood amidst nothing but pain and destruction.

Azurius stood up, walking to Kateri and placing his hand on her shoulder. The cuts on her face all healed, all except a demonic marking under her right eye. Azure felt the cuts appear on his face, the bones in his legs begin cracking, and the skin being torn. Soon however, the cuts faded away and his bones healed in seconds. "Thanks." she said, shooting another gentle smile in his direction. "She's right... w-we should check on the house..." Azure stated, trying to force the pain back down.

When the three of them would arrive at the house, whether or not it was destroyed, they would notice the corrupted Holy Sword would be completely gone... it's magical presence would be nowhere to be found.

Elaine looked around at the town she called home. It was ruined, buildings were crumbled and collapsing; people were either lying on the ground in pain, crying or even dead. There were children crying for their parents who were lying on the ground still and bloody. Elaine had half wanted to run and scoop up the small children and hold them, attempting to tell the the truth of their parents.

Azurius brought her toward the guild hall, which had taken the biggest beating. She covered her mouth with her hands as tears pricked her eyes and Azure dropped to his knees; Elaine wrapped his arms around him, burying her head in his shoulder. There was no guild to come home to, it was destroyed and she couldn't see any of her guild mates except for a man making his way out of the rubble. He obviously knew both her and Azurius, only a short introduction was given before another woman stepped out of the wreckage. She then explained that the village had been destroyed by a sea monster; it had taken all the strongest mages and finally the Magic Council had sent the cannon to destroy it.
The woman, introduced herself as Kateri. Obviously younger than her and Elaine could already feel the magic power radiating off of her. She gave Elaine a quick kiss on the cheek; before telling her that she beat check their home. Her eyes widened as she got up, helping Az up with her.

She hadn't meant to start sprinting but she began to anyways. Their house was surprisingly untouched; save for a few broken windows and the door was splintered open. She jumped through the broken door to notice that their house had been turned upside down. Her stomach dropped as she ran up the stairs, she ripped open the top drawer of her clothing cabinet she tore hers and Azurius' shirts out of the way.

Her heart started to beat faster as she emptied the drawer. Then when what she wasn't looking for was actually there she proceeded to the next, and the one after that, and the one after that. She looked in the wardrobe and under the bed. "Oh god. Oh no. No no no no." She mumbled and dropped to her knees and clutched her head. She could feel the mark on her back burn. It had been taken. She could feel the other half of the mark pulling her. It was gone. The sword that had locked away the curse was gone.

She couldn't imagine what it could do in someone else's hands. A holy weapon combined with a dark curse. She took a deep breath before getting back up, she hadn't noticed but the small curse crept up her back. "A-Azurius....Azure!" She yelled and ran down to stairs. "I-it's gone. The holy sword is gone. Someone....someone must have taken it...." She managed out, her heart was in her stomach. She should've destroyed it. Or locked it away. Put it in the bottom of the sea, anywhere but in their own home. How could she be so idiotic?

laine was histerical, shouting that she lost the cursed holy weapon that she hid in the house, getting riled up over it even more with each passing second. Destiny gently slid past them and went inside, immediately beginning the process of cleaning up while she let her dad handle Elaine. Azure grabbed her by the waist, pinning Elaine to the wall and entering a full on embrace. "Calm yourself." he said softly with his mouth next to her ear. "I understand the implications of what that means, but there's nothing we can do to undo it now." Azurius brought his face around and resting his forehead against Elaine's. "We'll get it back love, I promise." he said softly, sweetly to her.

"Azurius Elijah Tade." A voice said from behind. It didn't sound particularly amused, more like someone pissed in her coffee. Azure turned around, his eyes narrowing and his expression becoming sour. "Lillianna." "Don't address me by my first name." "You gonna tell me why you're here?" "You've been summoned to the chamber of light." "Under what charges." "Sexual activities while working, committing murder, and the corruption of ten of the weapons in the holy armoury which lead to the death of several of our kind in trying to reclaim them." "Well... we found the sword." Azurius said with an under his breath unhappy tone to Elaine.

"What do you plea?" "Guilty of all charges with open refusal of incarceration." "May I ask the reason for-" "Those incarcerated are wiped from the minds of all who came in contact with them. Additionally, the memories of those people are wiped from the accused's memory as well. I refuse to let anyone take Elaine from me." "Then you would have no concerns if I killed the human and then incarcerated you?"

Suddenly, vines grew from below the angel who spoke of killing off Elaine in an attempt to arrest Azurius. The angel glowed, and then the glow dimmed and a type of panic grew about her face as she exclaimed "Demon Magic!? But where!?" The shadow below Azurius's feet moved to the side, bulging from the ground and turning to the form of someone carrying someone else princess style. The form gained color, revealing itself to be he demonic butler from earlier, and Kateri. "I've heard all I need to hear." she said with a scowl on her face. She walked up to the woman, pulling out a revolver from under her black, wool cloak and pointing it at the Angel's head. "Stop!" Azurius said, grabbing the gun and placing his thumb under to trigger to prevent Kateri from pulling it. "If you do that you'll have the armies of heaven itself sweeping this town, and I don't think we can defend the town in its current state." Kateri clicked her tongue, pulling the gun back with Azurius releasing it.

It was then that a mass of power began building, the exact same type that was felt from Elaine's mark. The vines were then torn to bits by a release of magic power from the trapped angel, Kateri immediately drawing her guns and firing off a pair of shots that Azurius blocked with his own hands. He used some magic power to reinforce them, reducing the speed of the round but still creating a pair of holes in his hand that quickly healed back. "The hell's your problem!?" she hollered at him. Azurius looked at her with through the corner of his eye, golden orbs glowing as he glared at the young woman. "This isn't a matter of you protecting our guild, this is a matter of me protecting the people I love. On both sides of the spectrum."

Kateri closed her mouth and softened her expression. "Kazimir, get us to somewhere better suited for a duel." she said, and in response the butler bowed. The world suddenly changed to the flattened out ruins of Lamia Scale's Guild Hall, right next to the massive tree known as 'Zuo Tree' "Azurius Elijah Tade, you are now a traitor to heaven. You will come with me or you will die!"

Azurius turned to face Elaine, ignoring the threat. He grabbed bother her hands gently, looking at her with bold, strong, confident, golden eyes. He'd noticed her mark growing more active, and now it was time to use it to his advantage. "Elaine, I know this will make you uneasy... but I need your trust." He reached his arms around her, hugging Elaine warmly. "Trust in my strength. Trust in my heart." he gave her a gentle kiss on the lips, quick, only a peck. "Trust in that..." he paused for a moment more. "I'm going to need to borrow your mark, please, trust that I won't be taken over again. Let me do this... and I'll show you how to conquer it."

Azure brought his face closer to hers, pressing his lips against her if she would allow it. This kiss would be longer, as Azurius would siphon almost all of Elaine's mark to his own body, reducing it back down to little more than a small dot on her back. If she wouldn't allow the kiss, he would do it through the hug he was giving her. If she wouldn't allow Azurius to take her mark, he would kiss her just in case he died in this fight... Suriel had materialized next to Elaine, getting ready to charge in with him only to be stopped by him raising his hand, telling her silently to stop.

Azurius turned around, removing the trench coat he was wearing and letting it drop to the ground. He turned his head, looking over his own shoulder and speaking with a calm voice "Suriel. Get your smite ready, and only fire it when and where I tell you to." Suriel nodded and got her Holy Archive ready. Azure faced Lilliana, the Justicar Angel and materialized a golden sword in his hand.

Azurius took her in his arms, pressing her up against the wall as she took shaky breaths; telling her to calm herself and that they would find whoever had take the cursed weapon. Elaine swallowed a sob and nodded. Then another woman appeared, but she didn't give off the same aura as the last, she gave off the same that Azure did. There was no doubt that this woman was an angel.

The day had come. Elaine knew it would, the day where they had come to charge Azurius with all the crimes he had committed while on earth. Murder, being with a human and she also mentioned the corruption of Holy Weapons that had killed angels due to their dark magic. Elaine stiffened, "Idiots. Do you have any idea what that magic could do if it was broken out of the weapon I locked it in? No wonder they're all dead." She muttered. It wasn't uncommon knowledge that demon or dark magic was attracted to its bitter half; light magic. If it was up there, were Azurius was from, then it's possible that it has been slowly infecting everything else. "You must return it to me. Before it is to late." Elainw said confidently, thought the angel, Lillianna, Azure had called her, payed her little mind. As though she were absolutely bellow her.
Azurius then explained that he was guilty, but didn't wish to forget Elaine, and vice versa. She took his hand in hers and smiled. This was the day, that she would fight all of heaven for him. When the vines wrapped around the angel and she couldn't get out, Elaine almost felt relieved; but when Kateri appeared out of the floor, stating that she wanted to kill the angel her stomach dropped. She had minimal time to summon a small knife and hold it to the girls throat just as Azure had put his thumb over the trigger.

But it was all to late, the shot went off and a power that beckoned Elaine's mark filled the room. She dropped the knife and doubled over as if she had been punched. The mark crept up the side of her face, swallowing her left eye completely. She bit back a scream, it felt more like someone branding her; it was only white hot pain. She barely noticed the change in scenery, but she knew what this meant, there was to be a fight. She staggered up, her corrupted eye now all black.

Azurius turned to her, saying that she would not like this idea. Though he wasn't looking at her, more so the mark that grew. "Azurius. No. What about last time? On the ship? I had to kill you Az. I had to lock that thing away because you were gone. You were far from gone." She said trying to step back from him, though he ended up grabbing her and kissing her, something that she couldn't refuse. She kissed him back, crying because she didn't know if this would ever be the last time, and she gave him the mark. More tears streamed down her face when she parted from him, lingering just that one moment longer.

"You come back to me alive, you hear? Show me that giving you this mark, was not a mistake." She whispered, before stepping away from him, letting go of his hand and giving one last glance to Suriel, Please. Be careful.

    A
darker, more corrupt aura took over Azurius as he stood there breathing. Looking at Lillianna, he saw her right arm was entirely black as it held the weapon, not a single spot showed her real skin. Azurius could imagine that under her white dress was more black, since the starting point of the curse seemed to be the center of the back. The exact way it spread seemed to be different for each person, which would explain why her other arm and face were completely devoid of the mark.

On Azurius's side, he was emitting the proper aura for one who bore the mark, but he showed no signs of using it. The justicar Lilliana charged at Azurius, him having only enough time to bring the broad side of the sword up in a defensive position before she slammed into him like the freight train out of hell, causing the former angel general to begin sliding back on the heels of his shoes while gritting his teeth. Suriel turned, keeping eye contact with her master for when it was time to fire her attack. "Angel Justicars are the second most powerful things in heaven. Azurius is the fifth most powerful general, which places him as the thirtieth most powerful thing in heaven." she said calmly with a focused voice.

The Justicar gave a wide grin as her wings unfurled, slamming against the air and keeping her momentum. "Guardian's Armour!" Azurius shouted while still trying to resist the attack, a golden glow forming around him. The sword changed into a hammer, a shield forming on Azure's left arm between his arm and the cursed weapon Lillianna was holding.

Guardian Armour (Just image all of this in white with gold trimming):

The massive armour made Azurius look huge compared to her. Lillianna flapped her wings, moving backwards as Azurius lifted the golden hammer and slammed it down where she was hovering. The hammer smashed the ground, causing an enormous crater to form. "I see you've decided to make some use of the holy armory. But you'll never be able to win, this mark only serves to make my powers stronger, I suppose I can thank that filthy human for giving it to us!" she said with a somewhat crazed tone. "She doesn't even know that the mark's taken her already..." Suriel said in a soft tone, surprised that even a justicar can't match the mark's power.

"You're not yourself Lillianna, you know that power isn't supposed to be wielded by angels!" Azurius hollered, his voice distorted by the armour to make it sound deeper, more threatening. The only thing keeping him from truly being terrifying was that there was a hint of true concern in his voice. "Ha! You're only jealous because this time it is I who holds an upper hand, and you who isn't being promoted!" she replied, her tone was arrogant, unfitting of an angel. "When the two of them arrived in heaven, they were nothing more than workers. The only class permitted to have relationships... They were good friends, and eventually were allowed to date. The relationship died before sexual activities were performed. Azurius was promoted to lieutenant, she was stuck as one of his subordinates. She wasn't happy about that... something about being able to kick him around like a ball made her think she was better suited for the position." Suriel commented softly, keeping her focus on the battle.

"You borrowed power from that pathetic, whore of a human. I-"
Azurius had suddenly appeared in front her with a gold and white gauntlet covering the fist that was inserted into her stomach. Lillianna spewed forth a wad of spit and air as the impact caused her to be lifted from the floor, then sending her across the flattened foundation of the guild hall and even further away from Zuo Tree than they already were. "So... I take it he's your boy friend." Kateri deduced from how quickly he reacted to the insult. Azurius's wings expanded, pure white feathers with a gentle golden glow on each, reflecting the purity that one would expect of an angel, and showing no signs of the mark's presence. He had abused the air, flashing to grab her and slam the woman in the ground with an enraged expression. "That human is the only reason you have more power, and her heart is far more pure than yours ever was!"

Lillianna grabbed Azurius's hand with a grin on her face. "Angels are the purest beings in existence... and it was your fault the power was stored in a sword." Azurius was then thrown like a rag doll in space with a malfunctioning jet pack while Lillianna flipped herself to standing upright. Azurius had bounced sever times on the floor, sliding before bouncing (literally) into a backflip and landing on his feet where he slid a few more feet and stopped. "No Lillianna... Your a self righteous, vain woman who only cares for power. If that's what an angel is, then I'm damn proud to associate myself humans." Lillianna scoffed at him, her eyes growing harsher and a black set of lines creeping up her neck.

Suriel's eyes widened as she realized what Azure was trying to do. "He's insane..." she muttered in a hushed tone, not particularly conscious of the fact that she was speaking her thoughts. "Hey Lil.." Azure said with a calm, reminiscent tone. "What?" she replied, sounding rather unhappy. "You remember the first time we fought all out?" "Of course..." Lillianna's tone shifted to a bit more upbeat. "How could I forget, we leveled half the sixth district and ended in a draw." Suriel spoke with a slightly cringing voice, saying "Most of that damage was Azure..." "Sounds like my dad..." Kateri said with an equally cringed tone. "Let's pick up where we left off." "Yup... definitely insane." "So much like dad..." Lillianna grinned "Alright then..."

When Azurius was tossed aside at just one of Lilianna's hits. She assumed that he had gone in blind after Lillianna had insulted her, but he was easily thrown through the sky landing several feet away. "Azure!!!" Elaine screeched and went to break into a sprint towards him. She felt a hand on her shoulder, stopping her from going any further. She turned to see Suriel. She had a look on her face that Elaine wouldn't quite classify as emotionless, she could see in her eyes-that were focused on the battle-that she had quite a bit of confidence in Azurius.

"I wouldn't do that. It isn't your battle. He's doing this for all of us, so you should just stay." Suriel told her, releasing her hand from Elaine's shoulder. Oddly enough, it made Elaine feel somewhat like an animal, being told not run off. She squirmed in her spot, tears pricking her eyes, she wanted so badly to run over and protect him. That's what she promised, she promised that she'd fight all of heaven and hell to keep him safe and now, here she was, unable to do anything to save him.

It was her fault that Lillianna was corrupted. It was her fault that any of this was happening. She felt as though it was her fault that he was here fighting this angel even though she would know he'd say differently. "I-I can't just leave him there.....I can't just.....abandon him." She murmured. She put her hand over her mouth to hold back a sob. "Please....please don't leave me alone, okay? You come back to me, you hear that?!" She shouted over to him, tears in her eyes as she stood back behind Suriel.

    T
he mark spread on Lillianna, expanding further up her neck and encroaching on her face, forming a spiral that encompassed her entire right cheek. Azurius gave a small smile, knowing first hand what it's like when you're taken by the mark. You're power does indeed explode, but unless you're strong enough to control the mark, the mark will take over and control you. The mark was a primal beast on top of that, it didn't use tactful tricks and elaborate schemes, it struck straight at a very obvious target without making any attempt at evading attacks. This was what Azurius was pushing for, it's how he would show Lillianna once and for all that raw power will never be able to overpower careful planning.

    Lillianna:

Lillianna took her fighting stand, her black weapon was angled so when she closed the gap she could make a decisive strike. Azurius's weapon remained in a rather passive position, angled to the ground as the angel stood upright, as though he had no intentions of fighting her truly. "Damn you... damn you and your arrogance!" she shouted before flapping her wings and shooting herself forwards. Azurius waited for her to close the gap, but when she struck with the blade, he stepped to the side and watched her miss. A quick spin landed a direct hit on her right flank, but she cleverly altered the density of the magic that surrounded all life forms, angels included, and formed a type of barrier that stopped it from dealing damage. "What's the matter Lillz? You use to be a lot more accurate. Don't tell me that cushiony Justicar life's made you soft." Azure's voice was caked with arrogance accompanied by a devilish grin. Lillianna let out a scream while charging him, creating a second sword that was every bit as black as the first. 'That's two out of ten.' he thought to himself, materializing a second golden sword.

The two clashed repeatedly, Azurius keeping a rather calm expression as the now flustered looking Lillianna repeatedly tried getting an attack through. In his heart, Azurius knew that he wasn't fighting the Justicar Lillianna, but rather he was fighting the mark itself, which was using her as a weapon. The clash seemed to be a stalemate in terms of attack versus defense. Lillianna struck, and Azurius blocked while keeping a calm face and enraging her with every failed hit. "Hey Az, did ya hear!? I got promoted to the front line!" the joy filled tone filled his mind as their blades slammed into each other, causing a flower of sparks to bloom. Azure found himself with Lillianna sitting in a gazebo, her hair was shorter back then and her smile was gorgeous. "You too eh?" Azure replied, holding up a badge that was blurred out for some reason, possible due to how old the memory was.

The clashing of swords, and Lillianna's unbridled rage resumed for Azure's ears as he'd realized he had spaced out, but subconsciously continued fighting. The two blades opposed each other, Azure's holy weapon that was representative of all things alive, sacred, and beloved and Lillianna's corrupt one which had now been turned to all things horrid, and defiled. The two blades clashing seemed to resonate with each other, combining the chaos in Lillianna's heart brought about by Azurius seeming to always out perform her, despite her having more raw power; with the peace that Elaine had brought Azurius, and neutralizing each other to bring back better, more cherished memories.

Another clash of their swords and Azurius's mind was brought back to when he as promoted to the rank of general. It was also when Lillianna was promoted to being a Justicar. It was by far the best day of her life as far as Azure had seen, by then she had let her hair grow to its current length, but she still smiled and laughed. She hated Azurius though, so he didn't get to properly congratulate her. The memory was him watching through the scope of a sniper from afar as her celebration was underway, his invitation non existent.

Again, slashing and sparks returned to his vision as he once more was brought back to earthland, each flashback only a mere couple seconds each. "You used to be such a fun person Lilly. You were beautiful, playful, and not such a foolish bitch!" Azure hollered while blocking incoming attacked. Her swords glowed golden as she made an 'X' shaped slash, sending a blast of holy light that sent Azurius sliding back sever meters. While he didn't fall, or take much damage, if any at all, it did give them distance. Lillianna crossed her swords in front her, charging more holy energy into it.

Suriel held onto Elaine's hand, a small smirk on her face. "There's a reason you never use holy magic against Azure... and why her power was never a concern before." she said calmly, her eyes staying focused on Azurius, waiting for her signal.

Lillianna separated the weapons, spinning and sending a massive crescent of pure holy energy flying at Azurius. He closed his eyes and opened his mouth, inhaling and sucking in the attack entirely, leaving a dumbfounded look on his opponent's face. Azurius wiped his mouth on the sleeve of his long shirt, giving a calm expression to Lillianna, who seemed to get even angrier if one would believe it were possible. "That's right... give into the mark you stupid bitch..." Suriel said in a soft, anticipating tone with a smug expression. "I get the feeling you know why he hasn't killed her already." Kateri commented with her arms crossed under her chest. "He's got no plans to kill her, he never did. Az is gonna take the mark back from her." Suriel replied, her tone still somewhat anticipating as she expected this scuffle to be done with soon.

Azurius stood still as he watched the mark fully take over her, turning Lillianna's entire face, neck, arms, and the parts where her legs showed, completely black. While normally the mark appeared as a series of symbols for Azure and Lillianna, this version was pure black, as though the Justicar had jumped in a pool of paint. She let out a horrid scream of pain, bloody tears flowing from her eyes as she dropped to the floor and clenched herself tightly. "Don't worry kid... I'll save you, just hold on for a bit longer." Azure said under his breath.

One of the weapons she was using disappeared, and nine shadowy figures appeared with black weapons in their possession. "That's what he was waiting for." Suriel said calmly, releasing Elaine's hand, stepping forward and placing her open palm in the air with Azurius's position as it's epicenter. "Don't you dare fail." she said in a hushed, hopeful tone.

The nine of them all converged on Azurius's position, he lowered his sword, closed his eyes and bowed his head with a small smile for an expression. The weapons, a broad sword, three spears, two daggers, and four claymores were ran into his body. Magic circles appeared on the grips of all of them, forcing the black magic up the weapon and into Azurius's body. The weapons resumed their golden shine before shattering, and the dark figures hit the floor. Black marks formed fist sized starting points where he was impaled, slowly spreading as Azurius grit his teeth. "Just a little more..." he said under his breath, the words muffled by his teeth. Suddenly, Lillianna stood up and fired a massive blast of Chaotic energy, a culmination of her emotions, her memories, her angelic nature, and the power of the dark mark infused withing. The attack hit, and seemed to consumed Azurius but didn't kill him. His shirt however had been torn to ribbons, and his body, now hit with even more black magic, had began showing signs of the mark taking over.

He slowly crumbled to the floor, resting on his left knee with the same side's arm being used to support his weight with a fist firmly on the ground. He shook terribly, like a young child with a fever so high he feels the bitter cold of the snowy north he shook. The black marks slowly but surely expanding, as though paint were being poured over him from multiple angles not a single spot looked like the standard runic symbols that normally appeared... no, this was the pure darkness of the mark taking Azurius as his host once more. Lillianna stood up, her entire body black right down to the whites of her eyes, a wide grin on her face. "So this is the power the whore wielded... and I can tell it's merely a fraction of it's sum." she rotated her arm, looking at it and examining the minor change. "Tell me Azzy... why don't you just give in. Stop fighting, let the mark take you and come back with me to share its power with the others. We, together, as a team could stop the constant fighting in Sin, the constant wars with opposing lands... all you have to do is stop trying to protect them. Give up the fight..." she said slowly, her voice was warped to sound like she were speaking into one of those children's microphone things.

The black mark had spread rapidly, his shaking ceased and the golden glow of his eyes had faded as they turned to black. He no longer emitted any holy aura at all, his magical presence matching that of the mark and the mark along. A flashback, the time he was rebirthed and fought alongside Aries, earning his wings permanently. A flash again, moving to when he met Sterba and Sepharian, quickly transitioning to meeting many more celestial spirits and contracting them. His right hand formed into a fist slowly, shaking to obey his own will. His mind returned to seeing a young, blonde girl with doll like features, and the most beautifully entrancing eyes as she struggled to find a place to belong. He saw himself in third person, sleeping soundly on her lap on their first train ride. The time he died, to return the life of his beloved daughter.

The mark had turned his entire body black now, all except for a fist sized circle right over his heart that was slower getting smaller. He began getting up slowly, determination showering her eyes and causing Lillianna to take a half step back. "Though the heavens may erupt..." his voice wavered between the child's microphone and his own. A memory of when Azurius met Suriel for the first time, when she was crying at the betrayal of her first and only lover. "...though the world below me be torn asunder..." he continued, the memory of him dancing with Elaine, and kissing her for the first time. A golden light began to form over a small, pencil thick dot of skin over his heart on both sides, it was weak but obviously there. "...though the armies of heaven march upon our doors..." The memory of the liberation of Asylum and two of her neighboring islands came to his mind, along with the special night the two of them had afterwards. "...I shall never..." cracks began forming in the blackness that covered his body, each glowing a gently glow. "...Stop fighting..." The glow began gaining intensity, turning brighter and brighter. Just as the glow erupted into an enormous ray of pure holy energy, causing the air to become comfortably warm, filled with emotions of love, joy, kinship, and belonging... the emotions his friends all made him feel the words "FOR THOSE I LOVE!" was heard as a battle cry being shouted.

When Lillianna removed her arm from over her eyes, she saw Azurius standing with his skin not only back to normal, but thousands of golden symbols covering his body some overlapping black ones. By now, Azurius was using almost ninety percent of the mark, the other five was with Elaine, and the last bit with Lillianna. "This is the difference between 'filthy humans' and you. This is the power of our heart..." he said, his voice boomed as though it were being filtered through a sound enhancing lacrima. "You'll still never-" Azurius was seen with a golden sword inside Lillianna's heart, protruding from the other side and turning black. As it did so, Lilliana had turned back to her normal skin tone and fainted. "be able to match it...." he said softly while holding her close to prevent her falling with a sword stuck in her chest.

Azurius's black markings faded away and some of the power was put in one of the golden swords which was thrown in the air. "Suriel!" "Right!" was heard before a golden blast of light crashed down, obliterating the weapons and the spell entirely. Lillianna let out a groan as the hole in her chest healed over almost instantly, holding her head and sitting up. "A- Az... I'm... I-" "Don't bother. That mark requires more than fortitude to control, I know your actions were not your own." His voice was back to normal, and the golden symbols began fading quickly. "But... you chose to save me from it... after I've been hateful towards you for so long..." Azurius kneeled down, placing an arm around her and pulling the angel into an embrace, tears beginning to flow from her eyes. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I- I'm" her voice was high pitched, scratchy and filled with pain. "You dork... you know I can never bring myself to hate ya... you're my first friend from heaven after all. We just had a small argument, now is time to be friends again." "Y-sniffle- You..." "Yes dumbass, now stop crying." he said, releasing the hug and pulling her to her feet.

If Elaine would have come to Azurius by now, he would hug her and return a total of 30 percent of the mark to Elaine, as he had destroyed thirty more of it. This placed thirty five percent in each's possession, and made Azure feel better knowing she wasn't walking around with the whole lot. Additionally, he would take any beating she would deliver him for being that reckless.

"Azurius!!!!" She screamed as she watched the mark consume the rest of his body after the terrifying blast of Lillianna's magic. She covered her mouth and felt sick to her stomach she watched his now completely black form crumple to the ground. "No! No!" She screamed again, tears running down her face. This was all her fault. It was her mark that had been trapped it the holy weapon. Her mark that infected the Angels. Her mark that caused Lillianna to be like this. She crouched down and covered her head in a child like manor, unsure of what to do but cry. She took the moment to look back up and see that Suriel, was not as concerned, in fact, she looked as though she had been waiting for this. Elaine stood up, and watched as the black on body began to disappear, and be replaced with a bright gold light. She covered her eyes and watched as Azurius dealt a final blow to the red haired woman.

Then. Silence. Elaine gazed back up to see Lillianna on the floor and Azurius standing over her, smiling slightly. Everything around Elaine went blurry, except for him, she couldn't hear much of anything as she took a few steps forward, breaking out into a jog, then a sprint towards Azure. She hit he's chest hard, slamming her fist against him. "You idiot!!!" She sobbed. "I thought I had really lost you this time..." She sobbed, wrapping her arms around him.

Regardless of what he would do or say next, Elaine would turn to Lillianna. "I'm sorry, for all the trouble this has caused you. For everything this mark has corrupted. This is big of me to ask of you, but any corrupted weapons you have in you armoury, I need them. They will be safer down here than up there. I'll transfer the mark back into my body, what's left of it that is. It's safer to be in a mortals body than a holy beings body. I've dealt with it for a very long time, so I'm used to it. I'll take it back, so you will never have to worry of it again." She explained, stretching out her hand for a handshake/attempt to apologize.

illianna took Elaine's hand gently, avoiding her gaze. "Oh for the love of-" Kateri said as she walked behind Elaine, placing her hand flat on her back and giving a rough shove. Lillianna caught her quickly, keeping hold of her in an embrace while looking at the younger female with a puzzled expression. "Was just wondering if you actually meant to call my guildmate all those things." "I- I didn't, I swear it on-" "If you did mean it you wouldn't have caught her."

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but tell me the situation back home..." Lillianna gently released Elaine at the request and cleared her throat. "The weapons Azurius destroyed were all the corrupted ones in our armory. However, the effects of the corruption itself has spread quickly. Half of the fifth district is sealed off via magic barrier, but it's constantly having to be refreshed to prevent the barrier itself from being corrupted." "And my men? What of them?" "I cannot be sure. I saw some of them on my way into the quarantine zone, but that was days before I entered, and weeks before I came here." "I see... what will you do?" "I... I don't know. To return with the mission unfinished is to fail the mission... If I return, I have nothing but shame to return to. But I have no home in this world."

Azurius walked up to her, resting his right hand on her right shoulder. "You're welcome at Lamia Scale. While our guild hall is destroyed, our family is strong. The guild's members would lay their lives down before allowing their comrades to be hurt... I'd die before I let my friends get hurt." "B-but I'm not even human... not in the slightest." "I'm not human either, we have a woman who's part dragon, and a man who walks with voices in his head. Lamia Scale is a home for the homeless, and a beacon of hope to those with none. The doors to the guild do not close because of who you are, or what you are, and there is never 'not-enough-room' to add in one more person looking for refuge." "A-are... are you sure?" "Indeed, and anyone who tries to disagree can fight me over it." Lillianna quickly hugged Azurius tightly. "There's a ship docked at the port you can use as a temporary home till we get everything rebuilt. Go there and get yourself settled in, afterwards I'd like you to help clean up some of the town... and help anyone who needs it." he said with a calm, but commanding tone. Lillianna stepped back with a smile, a set of tears on her cheeks as she nodded and turned, expanding a pair of white wings and flying off.

"Azurius..." Kateri said with a stern voice. "Y- Yes ma'am!?" he responded in military fashion, straightening his posture. "I'd like to say I'm actually impressed with you, and let you know that you're one of this guild's heroes now." "U- Um... excuse me?" his expression switched to bewilderment. "This position isn't one to take lightly, and is only reserved for those who prove themselves capable to holding it." "But... I'm not that strong... I know I've got some power, but there's many other well beyond me." "Yes, and all of them are weak where it matters. I've watched you fight. You overcame what I could sense to be a highly corrupt force using the strength of your heart. Further more, you also displayed the heart of a true Lamia Scale wizard just now. There are those who believe this guild is home to only knowledge seekers, and nothing more. But this guild is positioned at the harbor for a reason... the light from the top of our former guild hall was able to break through even the thickest fog, and provide guidance and comfort to those coming in. The harbor never closes, just like the doors of our guild." "But-" "With the power of the Hero of Seas, and the authority of the existing guild master Ni-Ju Hachi, in the name of our former guild masters, Kihia Avoa, and Zuo Cii before him, I grant you, Azurius Tade the rank of Hero. You have access to the restricted section of our guild's library, the ability to train to use one of the guild's sacred spells, and the burden of the weight of the name of our guild." "But- I-" Azurius sighed, knowing this kid wasn't planning to give him much option in the matter. "Thank you ma'am. I shall accept this title and all responsibilities associated with it." "No shit... not like I was giving you an option. Titles and accolades are consequences, not rewards." Kateri said before walking away, leaving Azurius and Elaine to get to cleaning the town on their own accord. "Elaine.... I'm going to need your help liberating my home, but not now... When we're both stronger." Azure said as he stood looking like he was in deep thought.

When Elaine was pushed into the hug she laughed and gripped the angel. Knowing how it felt to be out of control sometimes. She agreed with Azure when he said that Lillianna was always welcome at Lamia Scale, because she couldn't go home with an unfinished mission. She was absolutely amazed when Lillianna's white wings unfolded and she shot of into the sky towards the boat where Azure told her to stay.

She listened to Kateri give Azurius his new status. Hero. Elaine grinned, she was so happy he had moved up the ladder. He looked a little flabbergasted that everything was moving so quickly. "I'm proud of you Azure. You deserve this more than anyone, you know that right?" Elaine grinned and took his hand in hers, leaning against him slightly. He thanked her and Kateri only scoffed, said her words then left the two standing in the rubble of their town.

Azurius told her that he would need help liberating his home, she looked up at him and smiled, "Of course. Through heaven and hell right?" She said. Though she was worried, if she went were Azurius was from; she feared infecting more of Azure's people. "I promise."
