CALL OF THEWILD
Name: Serenata of the Siren
Evidence of Accomplishment: Link
Description: Serenata of the Siren is the strongest of magics that a Siren can possess, and is only passed down to worthy Sirens. In order for a person to be given this ability, a Siren must recognize that the person is of their species or has the potentiality to be. Once recognized, the Siren will be willing to transfer their power over to the person, which will then cease the Siren's life. The person, now having gained the power, does not get automatic control of all the spells contained in the magic, but must train the magic thereafter. It can be a destructive magic, however, as the person won't have full control of the spell being used; therefore, the person isn't aware of the magic's strength. Through the manipulation of sound, sound waves, and any essence of noise, a person can bend another's will to their own. Though this is only a small part of the magic, for as alluded by the name, this magic can wield the power of mind control.
Kanix was blessed by the leader of the Sirens with the sound of her voice, the medley she used to lure sailors. She was told by this Siren to use her voice for good, and not what she had previously used it for. With that knowledge, Kanix had begun her practice of the magic on Mashyuu, learning to wield its deadly abilities. Through a long practice session, she discovered that the magic given to her wasn't just music based, but she could control sound waves, themselves. In doing so, she could manipulate and use the waves as a force to be reckoned with, one where sound could cut. Not only that, but with much more practice, she would soon be able to control those around her to do as she wished. After practicing of the magic, Kanix could easily wield sound to her advantage, and use it as a new form of magic.
Strengths:
- This magic is solely based on the manipulation of mind and reality, designed to confuse and disorientate opponents
- While used to confuse and disorientate, its spells manipulate sounds, sound waves, and any essence of noise
- Most spells, while weak to certain things, are versatile in strength and ability to confuse one's mind
Weaknesses:
- While versatile in strength, all spells have a weakness to being cancelled out or nullified by air magic
- Anyone with an iron will cannot, and will never, be affected by the spells that this magic can cast
- Mental- and sound-based mages can reverse the effects of this magic's spells if they are equal to or higher than the spell's rank
- Any holy-based magic can cancel out the effects of this magic, or reverse the effects the spells cause
Abilities:
- Wings of Despair
- This ability gives the user wings, typically used as a decoration for their magic, but allows for them to fly. It is a constantly active ability, so there's no real way to hide the wings, unless through the use of magic. While not angel wings, they take on a bird-like appearance, much like those of stereotypical angel wings, which often confuses people. These wings, for Kanix, are a brilliant array of colors, designed to attract her opponents to her if they see them. They are colored a bright blue, mixed in with feathers of yellows, oranges, and whites for better attraction. While in use, it boosts her speed by 50%, but only if she is in flight, and are otherwise, useless on ground. If the wings are injured, they become useless as well, and will reduce her speed by 15% because of their weight.
- D Rank:
- Name: Daydream
Rank: D
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: 3 posts
Type: Damage Over Time
Description: Daydream sends a blast of sound toward the targeted opponents, via creating the sound or singing to them. When the attack hits, it deals 40% of damage on the initial hit of the target, and can potentially leave opponents, equal to or lower in rank to the user, immobilized for a single post. It then deals 35% in damage to the opponent thereafter, regardless of whether they had been paralyzed or not. Upon the initial hit, any mage who is one rank higher than the mage has their speed reduced by 50% and those two or more ranks higher have their speed reduced by 25% for the next two posts. Unfortunately, this spell cannot recognize ally from enemy, and may effect an ally as if they were a foe. This is a spell that can really only be dodged by those who can nullify such effects like this or cancel out sound. However, a person could also dodge the spell by stepping out of the way of the blast, as the blast only goes in a straight line.
Strengths:- This spell is a DoT spell, causing 35% in damage to an opponent who has been affected by the spell
- For those who are equal to or of lower rank than the mage, they are left paralyzed for a single post after the initial hit
- Reduces the speed of mages one rank higher by 50% and mages two or more ranks higher by 25%
Weaknesses:- May affect an ally, which deals the same amount of damage to them, as it would to someone who was a foe
- Like all sound-based magic, wind/air mages are able to blow away the blast of sound in order to cancel it out
- The fact that this spell is a DoT spell means it takes a few posts in order for the spell to have its full effect
- It can be easily dodged if the spell is nullified by an opponent or the opponent steps out of the spell's direction
- This spell is a DoT spell, causing 35% in damage to an opponent who has been affected by the spell
- C Rank:
- Name: Repose of Death
Rank: C
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: 3 posts
Type: Instant
Description: This spell takes the initial amount of MP to cast, but by also taking 5% of the user's health, the user can boost the damage by 75%. What the user does is cast the spell by manipulating the waves of sound around them and sending out a large ring of it toward the opponent. When the opponent is struck by the blast, it deals a full rank of damage, plus the 75% that was used from the user's life. It's a quick damage spell that has as a short cool down, resulting in it being able to be "abusively" used in a battle.
Strengths:- The resulting blast can deal +75% due to the imbued life force of the mage in the ring of sound when cast
Weaknesses:- This spell uses a small amount of the user's life force, which can leave the mage weak if used at a low amount of HP
- Air/wind mages can cancel out the effects of the spell if they are able to efficiently wield air to do such a thing
- The resulting blast can deal +75% due to the imbued life force of the mage in the ring of sound when cast
- B Rank:
- Name: Sweet Dreams
Rank: B
Duration: 6 posts
Cooldown: 9 posts
Type: Illusion, Dreamscape
Description: Sweet Dreams puts the targeted opponent to sleep, and transfers both the user and the opponent into a dreamworld. The dreamworld is set up however the user describes it to be, meaning they have full control of what the environment is like and can make it to their advantage. The dream-user and the dream-opponent both start out with 50 HP, making it quite easy to kill each other off in the dream. If the user is able to defeat the opponent within the duration of the spell, the target (in real life) is dealt a full B rank of damage. Now, if the opponent defeats the dream-user, they will suffer half a B rank's worth of damage and the dream ends. Neither of the bodies can be touched in the real world while the spell is cast, saving them from being hurt by others. Those with any control over how the mind works or illusions, themselves, can nullify the spell's effects. This spell cannot work on those two or more ranks above the user.
Strengths:- The user can make the dreamworld illusion however they see fit, which instantly gives them the upper hand in battle
- Deals full damage to the targeted opponent if the user is able to defeat the opponent within the duration of the spell
- Those who are within the dream cannot have their bodies affected by outside attacks while in the dreamworld
Weaknesses:- If defeated by the opponent first, the user is dealt half a B rank's worth of damage as a result of failing
- Those who are able to control illusions, or affect a person's mind, can nullify the effects of this spell
- Though its duration is long, it has a limited time effect and if no one is defeated in the time frame, nothing happens
- The user can only take one opponent into the dreamworld at a time; if they try taking more than one, the spell cancels out
- The user can make the dreamworld illusion however they see fit, which instantly gives them the upper hand in battle
- A Rank:
- Name: Hymn of the Plague
Rank: A
Duration: 5 posts
Cooldown: 6 posts
Type: Damage Over Time, Fear
Description: Hymn of the Plague allows for the user to wield the sound of an opponent's worst fear and cast it into their mind. On the initial hit of the spell, it deals 50% in damage, and can then deal 25% in damage for the next four posts. If left untreated, the spell can paralyze opponents equal to or lower in rank than the user, and reduce the speed of those one rank higher by 50%. Any mage that is two or more ranks higher than the user has their speed reduced by 25% and can break free of the spell. Those who have a strong will are able to defeat the spell by ignoring the illusion of sound that it creates in their mind. Likewise, wind/air mages are able to cancel out the effects of the spell by distorting the waves of sound with wind/air.
Strengths:- Can leave an opponent who is equal to or lower in rank than the user immobilized with fear for the next post
- Reduces the speed of those one or more ranks higher than the user for the next three posts after the spell has ended
Weaknesses:- Strong-willed people can ignore the sound in their head by sheer will, resulting in the effects being negated
- Wind mages can nullify the spell by distorting the waves of sound with their magic, resulting in breaking the illusion
- Once nullified, it is instantly placed into cool down and loses any damage it could have done thereafter
- Can leave an opponent who is equal to or lower in rank than the user immobilized with fear for the next post
- S Rank:
- Name: Hymn of Darkness
Rank: S
Duration: 4 posts
Cooldown: 8 posts
Type: Defensive
Description: Hymn of Darkness is the only defensive spell that the user has, and it cloaks them in an invisible shield, which distorts/bends reality to make them disappear. The opponent can still sense their magical presence, however, and any passing wind can waver the shield's cloaking ability to reveal them a bit. So, they aren't hard to find, and are unable to move out from under the shield, unless they wish to be uncloaked. This spell protects against two spells of the same rank, or one rank higher than the spell before it breaks. In doing so, some of the damage (20%), that hits the shield, is reflected back to the opponent as a sort of "drawback" to the opponent. Likewise, this spell's cloaking effect can be canceled out by mages who can manipulate and bend reality or the mind. But that does not mean the shield is nullified, it just means that the user will not appear as if she is gone to them.
Strengths:- Bends reality/creates an optical illusion that causes the user to "disappear" before the eyes of the opponent
- Can handle up to a higher rank's worth of damage before being broken, or two of the equal rank
- May confuse the opponent as to where the user is if the cloaking effect is not disturbed by an illusion mage's magic
Weaknesses:- Can be nullified by illusion mages, meaning they can cancel out the shield's ability to cloak the user
- A higher rank's worth of damage can break the shield on the first try and send it into cool down
- Can only be used on the user, leaving allies unprotected and fending for themselves while the user is protected
- Doesn't deal damage in any form, as it's a spell made to defend the user against another mage's spells
- Bends reality/creates an optical illusion that causes the user to "disappear" before the eyes of the opponent
- Signature:
- Name: Reprisal of Mortality
Rank: S
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: 1 use per post
Type: Instant
Description: Reprisal of Mortality is an atomic-bomb shaped blast that target's three opponents in an area of 130 meters. At the epicenter of the atomic blast of sound (radius being 45 meters), a mage can be dealt a full rank's worth of damage. For those, who were not the initially targeted mage, caught in the AoE, are dealt only 75% of the damage on the first hit of the spell. Fortunately for the opponents, no effects are left by the spell, and they can easily dodge it by stepping out of range. Likewise, mages that are of higher ranks than the user, can cancel out the spell entirely, saving themselves from damage.
Strengths:- This spell affects an upwards of three opponents in the AoE, though damage is reduced for those caught within it
- This single blast of magical sound can cause collateral damage, not only to the surroundings, but to the targeted opponent
Weaknesses:- Mages who can cancel out sound can escape the effect of blast by distorting the sound waves in the air
- Unfortunately, this spell can cause collateral damage to the surroundings if the user is not careful in what they're doing
- Air mages can nullify the spell by using the wind to redirect the sound waves, in which the sound waves will become ineffective
- This spell affects an upwards of three opponents in the AoE, though damage is reduced for those caught within it
