I was previously on a site that had great site rules; the staff did their job and people were punished for what they did against the rules. It was a "three strikes and you're out" system: three warnings, after that, you get a one week ban, repeat what you did, you get three weeks ban, one month ban after a second repeat, three months, six months, (I think there was even a year-long ban, but I don't remember) and then permanent. However, ban lengths can be skipped depending on how often they broke the rule and how bad of a rule break they made.
I realize that these rules are somewhat similar and mildly different, as this site was Warriors based for many years before changing to fantasy animals. Anyway, these were the rules/guidelines that everyone had to follow:
- FeralFront's Rules:
- Rules:
Click on each rule's spoiler for more information!
1. You may not tell others what to do or that they broke a rule.
REPORT rule breaks and the moderators will handle it. Do NOT threaten to report somebody, that is rude!- Spoiler:
- Mini-modding: Regular members are not staff and should not correct rulebreaks. When a regular member corrects another member's rulebreak, this is mini-modding.
Exceptions to the mini-modding rule include handling smaller rulebreaks, such as spam, on your own RPs. If you did not create the RP, you must still report the rulebreak.
If a member is being disruptive on your own thread, you may ban them from the thread and delete or report posts as necessary.
2. Be polite to other members and don't start drama. {If you feel mistreated by staff – PM an admin!}
Be considerate! Don't be mean and don't talk about hurting yourself/others. This includes making rants and discussing rulebreaks and bans in public.- Spoiler:
- Passive-aggressiveness: Often abbreviated "PA." Passive-aggressiveness is being aggressive...without being aggressive. Confused? Here's an example:
That's okay, you only give out kits to your friends anyway. :(
This quote is just an example, by the way, although it illustrates that not all rudeness comes in the form of capital letters and angry smileys.
-----
Bashing - Complaining about members, staff, and/or the site in its policies in a negative manner. If there is something you wish to criticize, it must be done constructively.
-----
Baiting - Baiting is when you attempt to attract sympathy via negative and/or passive aggressive posts.- Examples:
Whatever. I guess I'll leave, then, if everyone's just going to ignore me... Bye. :(I'm thinking of leaving the site because a lot of people seem to hate my ideas. I'm probably really unoriginal and stupid.
If you feel as though you are being purposefully slighted by another member, you are encouraged to report them.
-----
Offsite Drama/Harassment - Any rudeness from members offsite (such as on Ask.fm or in a Join.Me) will only be handled by staff if it involves:
1. Sites/blogs/whatever that are dedicated to bashing the site or specific members.
2. Offsite issues that get onsite.
3. Direct harassment of someone offsite from another person onsite.
Note that proof in the form of screenshots and/or quotes needs to be given. Anonymous rudeness from people claiming to be someone specific, on sites such as Tumblr or Ask.Fm will not be handled by staff, as anyone can say they are someone else anonymously.
-----
A note on flashing GIFs: Flashing GIFs that may trigger epilepsy in your sig, avatar, or profile are no longer allowed. If you must include it, put it in a spoiler and include a warning.
3. Be appropriate!
We are PG-13, which means NO mature / adult content. This also includes asking for personal information.
4. NO Plagiarism/art theft.
{Stealing someone’s work and claiming you made it. To learn about plagiarism and more, click here.}
5. No injuring or killing another person's character without their permission.
Play only your own character{s}, and AIM to attack another person’s character instead of auto-hitting, which is powerplaying! If you have permission from the player, this is then allowed.
6. Be realistic.
Rulebreaks include: avoiding all attacks (godmoding), using one man armies, not purchasing powers/animals/mutations from the shop, using powers/animals/mutations not explicitly listed in the shop, using weapons invented past the Stone Age, metagaming, and violating breeding restrictions. This rule only applies to the main game. However, power immunity is ALLOWED; ALL characters can block ANY powers and have immunity to them. This means you will NOT be warned for godmodding if you avoid powers.- Details:
- One man armies are large masses of characters that you create in order to try to win a battle.
-----
Metagaming is when your character gets knowledge of information from private threads or other instances where they would not have realistically been able to get. This also includes having OOC knowledge about things, such as OOC battle plans that have not happened ICly.
-----
Stone Age weapons include: Knives, swords, blades, hammers, axes, spears.
-----
Breeding restrictions are listed here.
-----
You must accept the consequences of your actions. If your character or group is greatly outnumbered, you must flee, or staff can allow the other player to automatically kill your cat or take it prisoner.
7. You can't create a leader, deputy, medicine cat or medicine apprentice for any of our official Clans.
{The official Clans/groups are those which have more than 10,000 posts. The power positions are characters played by other members here.}- Spoiler:
- If you would like to make your own fanClan, click here! Once you start accumulating posts, your fanClan can pass certain marks and get rewards!
As for the official Clans, here are the high positions of the official groups: [Frontboards / sub-boards]
8. You may not spam, abuse features or advertise.
Do not advertise anything outside your signature or our Ad Threads. This includes PM advertising, abusing the thread invite as well as other features.- Spoiler:
- Spam can consist of advertising PMs, advertising via thread invite, chain messages, and random/off-topic OOC posts in an IC thread.
Thread invite abuse is when you send thread invites to your fanClan's sign-up or your shop to random people in order to advertise. This is treated as spam.
Code Feature Abuse is similar to thread invite abuse but include all codes. Such as ban feature, badges, petgame, etc.
Advertising threads are places where you can post links to your group's sign-ups:Help Den advertising thread
