Nightmare Lilith [Job/Skyllon]

When Brennan finally stood up Venir let out a sigh of relief. She didn't think she could handle Brennan mentally broken down, her own aching body, and Lilith all at once. It would appear that Brennan would have no choice but to lead the two of them now, not with Venirs current condition. The blue haired male did in fact take the lead, not taking note of Venir's rather poor condition not that she was complaining. She wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible, once she was out of the village she could take some time to rest and heal herself. However, when the white haired mage took a step forward, her leg wobbled. "Oh noooo." She inwardly groaned finally taking note of the gash in her leg. It was unpleasant, painful, and inhibited her movement. So much for holding off on that healing,

She took another deep breath as she yanked the charm off of her bracelet. The charm formed into her usual staff with a golden star at its crown, and white wings on either side of it. Her card holster had appeared upon her thigh. Her hand was half slipped into the holster when she saw the first spear attempt to strike Brennan. "W-Watch out!" She cried out as yet another spear had rained down upon him. More spears had appeared, too many for him to possibly dodge. In a world of magic though the impossible was often times very possible. "He turned into sand!" She marveled at her companions ability. Venir didn't get to look on in awe for long as some spears headed her way as well. Her hand immediately pulled a card out of her holster and placed it upon her staff. It absorbed with a flash of light, and upon her command a shield had placed itself over her. The spears reflected off of it with loud metal clangs as Venir hid beneath it. Only when the clangs ceased did Venir have the shield disappear. Her first question despite her own poor condition was of course,

"Yeah." Brennan said, in response to Venir's question, but by now, his vision had cleared up, so he saw Venir's injured legs. "But you aren't..." He said worriedly, grimacing. "I'm sorry," He said, "But there's nothing I can do." Brennan then proceeded to sit down adamantly, "If Lilith wants to kill us, well then she can just come here." He said stubbornly, "We're staying here until you heal, Venir." He smiled at Venir, "Once a guildmate, always a guildmate, right?" He then picked up a loose piece of concrete and started to throw it from hand to hand, "How long do you think it'll take before Lilith comes over here to attack us?" Deep within, he was very scared, but he hid this, he needed to stay sane if he wanted to beat Lilith.

"I'm going to go scouting." Brennan said, after about ten minutes, standing up slowly. He ran out of the room before Venir could object, and started pacing down the halls, and opened the first door he came to. Of course, more dead bodies. What had he been expecting, Lilith herself? He closed the door and went to the next one, where he found nothing other than more bodies. Brennan sighed again, and went to the next door. A single body, someone who had posed a challenged to Lilith. She had been a thin, blonde woman, belonging to a Light Guild. Brennan took two jewels from his pockets and placed one over each of her eyes before walking out of the room. He sighed, Lilith was a monster, but he knew that he and Venir had to capture her alive... for both the extra reward and morality's sake. He walked into the next room, a heap of dead bodies arranged like a heart, that was beyond creepy. He shuddered and closed the door, walking towards another one.

Venir frowned, pouting like a child that had been caught doing something bad. She didn't want him to worry about her or anything. However, her body was screaming at her to take a break. Enough so that she couldn't find it in herself to argue with Brennan. Letting out a breath of air she dropped to the floor, her back resting against the aged wall. She sat there for a moment, eyes closed, chest rising and falling with each deep breath. She did manage a small smile accompanied with a giggle. It was good to know that Brennan still thought of them as guildmates despite not being in the same guild anymore. The two sat there for a while in silence, Venir almost asleep if not for the occasional sharp sting of the few open wounds that decorated her alabaster skin. Eventually, Brennan spoke up saying that he was going to go scouting... "You sure?" She sounded almost nervous not wanting to be left alone, and not wanting for him to be on his own. She was sure he could handle himself but some habits die hard, and Venir unfortunately couldn't help but be overprotective.

Brennan had left to scouting as promised, leaving Venir alone. "Let's try and get this patched up." She picked up her staff and dug through her holster for a specific card. Venir placed it on her staff, the card absorbing eith its usual flash of light. A soft glow came from her staff as she held it over her injured leg. It wouldn't heal it completely but it would have to do. Once her leg was healed as much as her staff would allow Venir tore of a part of her dress. She wound the white fabric about the remnants of the gash on her leg. By this point Venir had been along for what felt like quite sometime, and she was getting worried to say the least. That and a strange sort of anxiousness had overtaken her. It felt as if something was coming, it wasn't there just yet but whatever it was, it was upset. She raised her voice hoping that her companion might hear her,

Brennan turned as he heard Venir's voice, and was surprised to find her behind him. He stared at her legs, which seemed to have healed immensely, and remembered a certain spell from the last time they had taken a job together. Last time, it had been used when he himself had suffered multiple bullet wounds, but this time around, Venir had used it on herself, in order to heal her injured legs. The spell wasn't nearly as effective as having a bloodline like Brennan's, but it would have to do. Venir seemed anxious, so Brennan knew that she would refuse to rest any more. Something was coming, and he knew it, but he didn't know what, he could only tell that it was extremely upset. "You in decent condition, Venir?" He asked as he paced up to another door and opened it, only to find nothing inside. He was about to close the door when something pushed him into the room and slammed him against the wall, rendering him paralyzed. This was Lilith's doing. Brennan looked around the room as much as he could, in his paralyzed position, only to find that it was an exact copy of the room in which the whispers had tortured him, and most likely Venir. "I don't think this is very good..." He said rather loudly, unable to turn his head to see if Venir was trapped here with him or not. Brennan willed his left arm to move, but it wasn't possible, this force was just too much for him to handle. Pinned against the wall, Brennan was unable to do anything, he was only able to hang there, waiting for his inevitable doom. "She's good..." He acknowledged, noticing that he could still move his mouth. It was then that he realized that Lilith wanted to hear them scream as she tortured them. This was bad. Very bad.

When Brennan had no responded to her first cry, Venir had no choice but to pull herself up and find him herself. Venir had plucked one of the forgotten spears from the ground to use it as a make shift crutch. Luckily, it did not take her long to find the male as he scouted the mansion. "Brennan!" She said once more, this time he had turned around. He appeared to be unharmed causing Venir to let out a sigh of relief.
Venir was unfortunately being very honest. Her own agility and strength were not in their top form at the moment. Just as Venir had carried them through on their last mission, Brennan would have to do the same on this one. At that moment Brennan had opened a door, Venir still crutching her way over to him. He had went to shut the door only to have himself seemingly pushed inside. The door slammed shut before Venir could hope to intervene. "Brennan!" She shouted as she rushed over to the door. The door in question would not budge when she tried to open it. By no means ws the door locked...In fact the knob would turn to open. No, something was holding the door shut. Whatever it was, it was clear that it did not want Venir inside that room. Perhaps that was Lilith's weakness.... Her thoughts flickered back to the dead mages that each had a room of their own. Could Lilith only handle one opponent at a time? If so then that meant she was trying to kill them seperately! She obviously wasn't trying to kill Venir as she wasn't the one locked in one of the empty rooms that the other mages had fallen in...Gritting her teeth Venir slammed her shoulder against the wood. It did bot budge but Venir did not give up hope. There was no way in hell she'd just leave Brennan to die alone in there!

Brennan hadn't responded to his words, which meant that he was alone in here. Brennan's thoughts flickered to the mages, only one in each room. That must be Lilith's weakness... she could only handle one opponent at once. So, if Brennan made his way back to Venir, their chances of winning would be greatly increases. He grinned to himself, had Lilith not learned anything with her spears? Brennan's body suddenly morphed into black sand, and flitted around the room, each individual grain flitting through the keyhole of the door. The flurry of sand reconstructed next to Venir, and Brennan panted, "That was uncomfortable..."

Before Brennan had much time to appreciate his life, he heard a high pitched giggle echoing through the air, and the clack of shoes against the rotting wooden floor. Soon enough, a little girl whose appearance was covered by shadows appeared, and she giggled happily, "Looks like I've got myself some more victims!" She said with a sing-songy voice, clutching a teddy bear in her left hand. Brennan drew his swords, it was her, he was sure of it. "Get ready, Venir!" He yelled, ready for anything. The girl giggled again, "Can you pretty please let me kill you?" She said, smiling happily, "I just want someone to kill!" She smiled broadly, revealing razor sharp teeth. Brennan gripped his swords so hard that his knuckles were white, and waited for Lilith to do something that required a reaction from him. Suddenly, ghastly chains appeared out of nowhere, and flew towards Brennan, who barely jumped out of the way. Lilith sighed, "I'm going to kill you anyway, why resist?" She hummed a cheery tune as she examined Brennan and Venir, deciding what to do next. Her razor sharp teeth showed as she walked around them, a young girl somehow managing to intimidate the normally bold Brennan.

Once more her shoulder met with the door causing Venir to groan. Venir had slammed her shoulder into the door so many times that she was sure she would have a bruise there. Despite using all of her strength the door would not budge. Lilith's magic was either very strong or Venir just wasn't as physically strong as she usuall was. Just when she was about to see if magic would open the door, something or rather someone had slithered out of the keyhole. Sand poured forth causing Venir to take a step back out of instinct. A moment later that sand formed into a familiar face. "Oh thanks goodness..." She let out a breath of air relieved that the two of them were no longer seperated, that the sand was not some sort of strange enemy, and Brennan was still alive. Venir's relief did not last long as a high pitched giggle ran through the air, drawing her attention towards the little girl that approached them. She was without a doubt a fearsome enemy, an ominous little girl with razor like teeth that would be haunting Venir's nightmares for years to come. Lilith was judt as psychotic as the man had described, murder and torture seeming to be the only things on her mind.

Heavily leaning on the spear, Venir used her free arm to raise her staff, a card already between her fingers. The card absorbed into her staff ready to be used upon her command. Lilith wasted no time in attacking them. She materialized rusty old chains in an attempt to trap them or perhaps just hit them with the metal. Venir twisted away from them, using her staff to swat the chains away. "Shoot!" She chriped, pink orbs of magic materializing in front of her before being shot at her enemy. "Brennan attack!" Venir commanded, if Lilith did struggle with handling multiple mages at the same time then it would be best to attack her together. If she managed to block one attack she certainly couldn't block the other right?

Venir commanded Brennan to attack, and he complied, sheathing his sword and turning his left hand turned to black sand, and a black sabre made of the same type of black sand appeared in that same hand. The blade of the sabre grew the three meters, and Brennan's arm extended, slicing into Lilith's stomach as she dodged the pink orbs. The girl let out a twisted his as she landed on the ground, and Brennan's arm once again shrank to it's normal length. He frowned, Lilith seemed unfazed by his blade. Brennan's arm extended once again as he attempted to cut into Lilith's stomach, but the girl dodged. She giggled happily and stared at them, her razor teeth visible in her smile. Lilith's teddy bear's eyes glowed a red color, and suddenly, it started to morph, taking the shape of a human being with long blue hair. "No..." Brennan said, his eyes ablaze with anger, "You will not ruin my memory of her." His left arm extended, and with six slices to the chest, the woman- no, not the woman, the stuffed animal, hissed, and warped back into a teddy bear. Brennan's arm shrank back to normal length, and he sighed, so this was how Lilith killed people...

"You do you do this to people?!" Lilith grinned happily, "It is just so much fun!" She cocked her head unnaturally, and let out a shrill laugh, "Now, who to kill first? Who to kill first..." Brennan grimaced, this girl was beyond twisted. "I know!" She said happily, "I will kill the girl first!" The eyes of her teddy bear glowed red as it targeted Venir's mind, it was going to transform into someone she cared about. "Venir!" Brennan yelled, "Whoever it turns into, just kill it! That person is not who you think they are!" He could only hope that Venir would maintain her sanity.

Lilith had managed to dodge the orbs of pink with relative ease. However, just as Venir had predicted Lilith did not avoid Brennan's attack. Being so young it.must have beem hard for the girl to focus on multiple enemies at the same time, it was a struggle that even Venir had qhen she was in her younger form. "Brennan be careful! We want her alive remember?" She wjnced at the slash to Lilith's stomach. It didn't seem to phase her much but Venir still wanted to be careful. They'd have to keep their attack shallow, and try to wear out Lilith. Brennan had gone for the same attack but Lilith's teddybear changed morphing into a...person? Venir had never seen the woman before but she had long blue hair, a similar shade to Brennan's, was it his mother? Venir slipped another two cards onto her staff as Brennan stabbed the woman, no, the teddy bear.

The two of them seemed to have the upperhand but Lilith was still eerily calm. If anything she seemed alnost excited as she loudly proclaimed to kill Venir first. "Got it!" Venir chirped her staff morphing into a silver blade as the teddybear before her also changed shape into....A little girl? She had never seen the little girl before her in her life, or at least of what Venir remembered in her life. Vaguely she could feel that the girl held some sort of importance to her at one point but that must have been a point in Venir's memory that she could no longer recall... Not pondering iver the girl's identity Venir wasted no time in slashing the bear with her sword. She gave it a few good cuts before turning on her less injured leg and giving it a good kick. The stuffed animal went flying back into Lilith with a surprising amount of force enough to knock a bit of air out of her. Now was the two mages chance!

"Right!" Brennan chirped, the blade of his sabre turning to titanium. He dashed towards the girls recuperating body and lightly slashed both of her legs, not enough to harm her very much, but enough to send her down to the ground. Brennan panted and stared at the girl, who was eerily calm, and giggled, despite her severely injured state. She got up, somehow standing on her crippled legs, and said, "You two are weak! Just like flies!" She said, a faint hint of a giggle in her high pitched voice. Realizing that his sabre would be useless, Brennan chucked it backwards, whereupon it lodged itself into a nearby wall. Brennan drew his Ancient Blades of Light and Darkness, and the two swords started to let off an eerie glow, and stated to float into the air. They collided with each other and let out a blinding glow, forming an entirely new sword: the Chaotic Blade, by far Brennan's most powerful weapon, even more powerful than quite a few of his spells. Lilith, however, was unimpressed by this display, "Boring!" She chirped loudly. Brennan grimaced, "You wish." He ran towards Lilith, and jumped behind Lilith, putting a shallow gash in her back. It was enough to make her yelp, but not nearly even to cause her to go unconscious. "Why will you not just faint?!" Brennan asked, very irritated, "I'm much tougher than you!" She said with a giggle, "I am going to kill you!" Brennan sighed, Lilith was as stubborn as he was, but she had to faint eventually. He lightly slashed her back again, but she stayed unfazed, giggling. Brennan ran to the wall, and towards Lilith once again, "Now, Venir!" He yelled, slashing at the young girl's chest, just to distract her so that Venir would be able to attack her.

Dashing to the opposite side of Brennan Venir slashed with her own blade creating a few shallow cuts of her own. Venir did not stay near Lilith for long though and she quickly jumped away from the young girl wary of what she might do to retaliate. She brushed off the shallow cuts along her body as if they were nothing, and Venir supposed to someone like Lilith they might be nothing. "I'll just have to go all out then...." She clenched the sword in one hand, and finally took her weight off of the spear in her other hand. Brennan seemed to have had the same idea as he produced a blade she hadn't seen before. Briefly, Venir realized that combat wise she didn't know much about her companion. The only time the two of them had ever worked together was to free those slaves, and he had been incapacitated for the most part. Trusting that Brennan could handle Lilith for a moment Venir slipped another card onto her blade, letting it absorb with a flash of light. Once she heard Brennan's call she sprung into action,


She dashed forward with great speed thanks to aptly named card, "The Dash" and slammed into Lilith once again knocking the air out of her. Venir did not stop there though as she slashed with her blade, only to turn and slash with the very spear that Lilith had created to kill them earlier. Venir continued on with her rapid flurry of swiped until at last she slammed her elbow right into the young girl's face launching her back. "Reflect!" That second card in which she had placed on her staff earlier was finally revealed to be, "The Mirror" just as its name implied the mirror had appeared right behind Lilith's body, reflecting her back and towards Brennan,

Brennan nodded briskly and turned his Chaotic Blade on his side, running towards Lilith and leaping into the wall, springing toward Lilith and attempting to smashin his Chaotic Blade into Lilith's head, not hard enough to permanently injure her, but hard enough to knock her out, however, he missed, and hurtled into a wall. "Oww..." He muttered, running towards Lilith, succeeding in smashing th side of blade blade into her head this time. The girl crumbled to the ground, unconscious, and Brennan smiled, "That wasn't nearly as hard as I had expected." By now, his arm had turned back to normal, and the sabre that had been sticking out of the wall had disappeared. Brennan placed the Chaotic Blade in one of his sheathes and picked up Lilith's unconscious body, this girl was light, even for a young girl. "Shall we get going?" He asked Venir, walking to the spiral staircase and slowly pacing down the stairs. He walked up to the large wooden door and kicked it open, his hands occupied with Lilith's unconscious body. "Should we take her back to the Magic Council?" He asked Venir, struggling to walk with a body in front of his face. Eventually, Brennan sighed, and placed Lilith's body on the ground, whereupon the earth started to rumble and move the body. "Much better." He said, cracking his knuckles and sighing. By now, his blood had healed any injuries he had suffered, but he was sure Venir wasn't nearly as well off as him, last he checked, she didn't have the same type of healing factor that he did. Brennan's boots clacked against the earth as he walked, and he hummed a cheery toon, happy to finally go home and sleep for what would likely be twenty four hours. He yawned, and A.I.R.C. chirped, both of them extremely excited.

At first Brennan had not succeeded in striking the girl making Venir worry. Did she misplace her trust in him? However, Brennan finally proved himself and struck his blade upon the young girl's had. Venir winced at the impact half worried that he might have actually killed her when she crumpled to the floor. Her suspicions were laid to rest when she went and checked Lilith's pulse. "Whew she's alive..." Venir let loose a sigh but quickly moved away from the girl. Even when unconscious one couldn't help but be nervous around Lilith. "Yeah let's get out of here." She agreed, the mansion was still unsettling despite its owner no longer being conscious. Thankfully, Brennan had picked up Lilith saving Venir from the hassle. She didn't think her leg could support even Lilth's slight weight that and she didn't want to touch the evil little girl.

After wandering through the labyrinth like mansion the two had eventually managed to get out of there. "Yeah! I don't think we wanna keep her with us...." Venir didn't want to have to duke it out with the little girl again. That and Venir wanted to prove to that man that killing Lilith was not necessary. Venir was still a little worried that Lilith might wake up on the journey back to the Magic Council but it would be in Brennan's arms, and that would not have a very pretty result. Venir's worry was soon put to rest when Brennan put Lilith on the ground and moved her with the earth. She briefly marveled at how cool that was before following along. Her staff had turned back into its bracelet form but Venir kept the spear continuing to use it as a walking stick/crutch to hobble along after Brennan. All they had to do was make it back to Magic Council and quickly before Lilith awoke...

They had finally arrived at the luxurious marble building, whereupon Brennan proceeded to open the door and grab Lilith's unconscious body. He was still surprised at how little she weighed, did this girl never eat? He paced through the marble halls, marveling at the enchanted ceiling, no matter how many times he came in here, he would never get used to this place, never. His boots clacked against the shiny tile floor as he made his way to the room where they had met the blonde man before. He opened the door to find the man sitting in a chair, sipping a cup of coffee, "Look who made it back alive." He said with a chuckle, "Quite frankly, I had expected Lilith to kill you. Oh well, all's well that ends well, I suppose." Brennan suppressed a growl, the man was extremely insensitive. Well," Brennan said, his voice cool as ice, "We have the girl, do you have our reward?" The man smiled, and held up two hefty bags of Jewels, "Of course I do." Brennan slumped Lilith's body on the table, and the man tossed him both bags of Jewels, each of which was exceptionally heavy. He slipped one his his cloak pocket and tossed the other to Venir, this job had definitely been worth it, not only for the reward, but for the invaluable battle experience, Brennan had learned much about his own fighting style in this battle. He yawned, and turned to Venir, "So, what should we do now?" He asked with a grin, "Now that Lilith's taken care of, we've got a bit of catching up to do!" He knew very little of what had been happening in Eclipse Soul, and he wished to know what was going on in Venir's personal life, after all, once a guildmate always a guildmate, right?

The two had managed to get to the Magic Council without Lilith awakening, "Thank goodness!" Now that they were at the Rune Knights headquarters there was no way that Lilith could hope to stand against all of those mages. The pair traveled through the grand building getting a plethora of strange looks from those had passed them by. Even a few Rune Knights had tried to stop them suspecting them to be planning some sort of attack. However, they were silenced once Venir pointed to the light pink mark of her guild on her thing. At the least that had gotten them to back off, a few of them even recognizing the Ace but not many. When they had reached the man he was just as Venir had remembered him. Venir couldn't even find it in herself to talk to him.


Even when she didn't like someone she still had great manners, as she took her own back of jewels. With Lilith out of their hands and the Magic Council behind them Venir grinned at Brennan. "Well, I'm definitely gonna get this leg patched up." She began but realized that perhaps Brennan wanted sometime to catch up. Her stomach gave a loud growl. "Okay maybe get some food first and catch up a bit while we're at it!" She looked down at her bag of jewels, "Food is on me!" She chirped always generous when it came to friends and strangers alike. Of course, Brennan hadn't missed much in Venir's personal life. She had been so busy with one job after another, her guild master always putting her to work. She had made many friends and lost just as many, overall though it was good. She was more curious to see just what was going on with her ex-guild mate. Was he eating properly? Was he helping people? Did he find his own path of redemption?

Brennan smiled when Venir said food was on her, he didn't object, but he fully intended on paying for his own food, he wasn't going to take advantage of Venir's kindness. He smiled, "I know just the place!" He grasped Venir's hand intended to drag her to the best sushi restaurant he had ever eaten at. Thankfully, it wasn't too far away, so Venir wouldn't have to put too much pressure on her leg.


Soon, they arrived at the restaurant, which was, as usual, packed to the grin, and Brennan began to talk to a brown haired man who was the owner. "Hey there!" He said with a smile, and a grin spread across the man's face, "Brennan!" He boomed happily, crushing the boy with a monstrous hug. "So," He said happily, "This is my friend, Venir. Can we have a table?" The man cracked a grin, "Of course! You and your girlfriend can come this way!" Brennan blushed, "S-she's not my girlfriend!" He stammered, but the man just chuckled, "That's what they all say, my friend. That's what they all say." The man led them to a table, and Brennan sat down, "Sorry about that," He said, scratching his neck, "He can get a bit... forceful..." He smiled, "Anyway, what do you want?" He pushed a menu into her hands and grinned, "This place has the best sushi in existence." He explained, he knew the prices were crazy, bit he always received a discount. "Also," He said, "Do not pay attention to the prices, I always get at least a fifty percent discount." He smiled once again, "So, how has life been?" He was really curious to hear what had happened to Venir, after all, it's not every day that someone goes from a child to an eighteen year old in less than a year.
