Catch Dat Chicken!

Job: Get that Chicken!

Job Requirements: Capture the chicken without hurting it. Minimum of 5 posts of 150 words per character.
Job Location: Clover Town
Job Description: A farmer has recently had a broken chicken house and requires you to hunt that Fowl down! This Chicken however had magical growth hormones injected into him that increased its size to a 5 foot monster! Its peck will deal C rank damage so watch out! Damaging even one feather on that chicken will result in a job failure so it may be best to lure or scare the chicken back into its fence. Completing it will give one grateful farmer his livelihood back.

Reward: 250 Jewels. Failure if you do a single D-rank of damage.

It was peaceful in the beautiful town of Clover and the citizens took advantage of this quiet time. There was, however, one who didn’t. Slade Wallins wanted to undergo a job because what fun was it to just sit around? He first went to the Job Board that was posted in town, thinking that he’d find something. After a while of searching he finally managed to and thought that it could be exciting.

“Catching a chicken?” he said as he took down the flyer, “How could that NOT be fun!”

The young Dragon Slayer then headed for the Farm where his mission took place. As he walked, something had occurred to him. He had absolutely no where  he should even go. Thinking that it might be a good idea, he decided to ask around since the people of Clover knew more about their town than Slade did. Unfortunately for him, the citizens were in their houses and the streets were abandoned.

Still, there wasn’t so much as a shadow of anyone else in the town. It caused the young Dragon Slayer to wonder if something had happened. Did a gang of criminals wreak havoc? Slade decided then that he would try heading back to the Guild. He figured then he’d be able to find someone. On his way, however, he heard someone’s voice. At first he couldn’t remember who it belonged to, but after a second it came fluttering back.

“Oh hey it’s you,” he said to his fellow Guild Mate, “Wuju like to take this job with me? That would be awesome since I have no idea where this farm even is…”

The real question was though, did Zhi know or were they trapped in boredom? Regardless, the young Dragon Slayer would find a way to locate where they needed to go. He did have a keen sense of smell, he just didn’t want to use it smell… unpleasant things from the farm.

His eyebrow shot up at the pun that Slade made on his name, but it was instantly followed by a hearty fit of laughter from the battle-worn samurai. He wiped a tear from underneath the mask that covered his eyes, looking over to his guild mate with a bright smile. "I would love to, Slade. I assume you're talking about the one with the giant chicken, right?"

Zhi moved forward with his friend to check things out on the farm. For some reason, he was a little anxious about dealing with this job. This was a mutant chicken! How were they going to be able to take care of the ferocious fowl? How would they be able to take it down, especially without harming it in any way, shape, or form? There was certainly a lot of work to be done, but with a Slayer and a Samurai, it would be a piece of cake.

With that decided, the young Dragon Slayer was about to stuff the poster that listed their job into his pocket. Before he did, he noticed something on it. He was practically speechless when he saw that they couldn’t harm it. That’s when he completely trashed his initial plan, which was to beat the creature up. At first, he thought that it was going to be impossible for him to catch it, but he then remembered he wouldn’t be alone.

“Wait just a minute…” Slade muttered out as he noticed a sign in front of him, “You can’t be serious!”

Apparently the location he was seeking for happened to be right under his nose. On that note, the young Dragon Slayer took off for it while waving at his fellow Guild Mate to follow. Once he reached the entrance a man instantly stood greeted the duo.

“Welcome,” he said, “You must be here to hunt down my poor Chicken. Be careful, he’s a wily one!”

Zhi laughed a bit at Slade's reaction to already stumbling across the farm they were looking for. Had he not noticed how much they had traveled? They had been walking for a solid five minutes beforehand in the right direction. He might have got caught up in own thoughts. Zhi walked beside his guild mate as they approached the farmer, smiles all around.

“Welcome,” he said, “You must be here to hunt down my poor Chicken. Be careful, he’s a wily one!”

Before Zhi could offer any sort of reply, he felt a sharp pain in the middle of his back. He yelped out in pain before turning around on the balls of his feet, his hand ready to grab at his blade. He then noticed that an extremely large chicken stood in front of him, reeling its head back from the fresh peck it delivered. What the hell was this beast?

As soon as Slade’s teammate yelled out, the young Dragon Slayer instantly conjured up fire to roast whatever it was alive. He, however, stopped himself after he saw a giant bird. His eyes then grew about twice its size, when the flyer said that the chicken would be five foot tall, he thought that it was a joke. That’s when the chicken then started to run away.

“OH NO YOU DON’T,” Slade yelled out and chased after it, “You’re not getting away that easily!”

The young Dragon Slayer then hopped onto the fiend’s back and rode it as if it was a horse. Soon, he realized his mistake. As soon as Slade jumped onto its back, it started to run. He held with all of his might so that he wouldn’t fall off and could hardly see due to the rushing speed. He didn’t know what to do and then suddenly he found nauseous, motion sickness was kicking in.

As soon as he turned around, the slayer was already on the job. The piece of mutated poultry began to run away after his dirty deed was carried out, but Slade wasn't going to let this opportunity slip through his fingers. As he exclaimed that he was going to get the chicken, he hopped onto its back and began to ride the animal like it was a bull trying to buck the man off. Zhi used up nearly all of his willpower not to laugh, looking to the farmhand for more questions.

"I don't even want to know what you fed this thing, but nonetheless, we need to get it into that fence, correct? I think I have an idea of how not to harm it." Zhi then focused his attention onto his guild mate, who was still riding the beast. "Try to reel it over here, Slade! I got an idea!"

Zhi announced that he had an idea, but the young Dragon Slayer could only resist the urge to blow chunks. Wanting to try anything, Slade slammed his legs into the ground. After that, he attempted to change the chicken’s course and cause the feathered fiend to run the other way. It was a simple plan and thankfully, he managed to succeed.

“I… I have to get off this crazy thing,” he said with the last of his breath and then rolled off.

Once he was back on solid ground, the young Dragon Slayer shook his fist and prepared an attack. Right before he could actually do anything, the farmer waved his hands. That’s when Slade remembered that they couldn’t harm the chicken. It was a stupid request seeing as the chicken was large enough to harm anyone.

“It’s all up to you now!” Slade said to Zhi, hoping that he’d catch the bird.

As he watched his guild mate manage to change the path of the bird, Zhi began to concentrate. The veins along the back of his hand began to press up against his skin as he clenched his jaw, almost snarling at the chicken. He punched the ground as he grunted out, looking dead at the chicken.

"Ethereal Rift!" He pushed his free hand forward to open a portal underneath the chicken, almost tripping it as it fell into the spatial rift. Zhi made quick work to focus his own hand to point at the fence, making the other portal appear above the enclosed space. The large poultry fell from the portal and into the fence's space. They managed to make the chicken go in there without asking for permission, but most importantly, they did it without harming the animal in any visible way.

His gaze moved toward the farmer, smiling at his quick work.
