So I recently did a duel, which I won. Yaaay! NO not the point here. What it is is that something crossed my mind a couple weeks ago, which I brushed off as a one-time thing, however now as i did a duel it brings back up to mind, this time it actually affecting me. So my character is a holder mage, and of course that means she has a holder item. This holder item is a holder weapon. Now note, I know there can be other items other than weapons that can be classified as a holder item, such as clothing or something.
THIS DOES NOT PORTAIN TO NON-HOLDER WEAPON HOLDER ITEMS
So I purpose that Holder mages who decide to partake in doing a Weapon Duel can chose 2 of their spells to take into battle, because that evens the scales so much better for them, because at the moment it just looks like Holder mages are basically outshown by anyone that decides to take a Legendary weapon into battle. This way its not "weapon with no spells or abilities" up against "weapon with two abilities," because technically the rules state that you can't use spells, thus making those with Holder Weapons basically at a disadvantage when it comes to weapon only duels. So why not either allow two spells without mana reduction during the weapon duels to make up for this, Of course some will disagree with this, because the argument will be "well why would something that once costed mana all of a sudden stop costing mana, with no sense of magical growth from the mage." And I completely agree, except for the fact of the weapons themselves have breaking disabled. So the same could be said for that - how does something just "stop being able to break?"
Another thing is that requip mages still get to keep their passive and active abilities for the select weapon that they chose. So this also brings up a thought, why not Signature Spells? This also makes up for the low population of Holder mages, and it works just well with the Weapon Duel. It doesn't cost mana, and is generally a basic ability. Also if the signature spell is the case then we should allow more than 2 sig spells given that people have them. You can trade in your weapon slots for other sig spells, so wouldn't it be fair for someone who actually has 4 sig spells to use them? Its like in a weapon duel a strong vs a legendary. A legendary has 2 abilities while strong only has 1. Should we just automatically give the strong weapon a bonus ability? Should we cut one of the L weapon's abilities out? No, the L weapon was bought and has 2 abilities, and the same could be said for Signature Spells.
This I think really evens the ball for the Holder mages out there, especially as there are so little. We can either negate two magic costs for two spells of one's own rank, or we could have them use any of there signature spells. That's my opinion on Weapon duels, and a small suggestion. (Wasn't as long as my last one! Yes!)
