Job Title: Whisper of Wishes
Rank: A
Player Requirements: 2 B or equivalent+. 400 words per post, topic must be at least 36 posts long. Requires the ability to travel outside of Fiore.
This job can be repeated, but the same wish cannot be taken more than once (per player).
Job Requirements: Quest for the "Djinn" or otherwise source of the rumored wishes, defeat the boss to collect somehow.
Job Location: Desierto
Job Description: There are rumors spreading of a djinn presence in the deserts of Desierto. A genie. A supernatural being capable of granting wishes. Many have taken to the sands to seek out this djinn with desire in their hearts. Fame. Riches. Power. Many seek it out but few find it.
Hearing the rumors you yourself decide to strike out and quest in the desert for your wishes. Perhaps out of greed, perhaps out of need. Whatever it may be, the sands may have what you seek.
There is little to no guidelines on how exactly your story unfolds, but your adventure is out there in the vast desert of Desierto out in the wastes away from the major cities, though can involve them for short times.
As you explore, whoever makes the 5th post, and the 10th, 15th, 20th respectively, rolls 2 monster dice. This continues until at least one boss is rolled on or past the 30th post.
After fighting (a) boss on the 30th+ post, the boss will drop mysterious scroll that seems to be dissolving into sand by the minute. By reading the scroll you can choose one of three wishes which will leave a mark on your body for the next 24 hours as it fades (Leaving the effect still, but preventing you from accessing the other two wishes in that time.)
The exact source of the wishes is up to the players, but the general result is it needs to be a momentary source you can't take with you that limits you to 1 wish (per player on the job).
Enemies:
Weak:
Locusts(1 swarm per roll)- A swarm of locusts attempts to devour flesh, living or otherwise. It takes 50 counts of D-rank damage to disperse / defeat, or a single B-rank AoE of 5 meters or greater. AoE's in general count as x10 their rank in damage against this swarm.
They will individually bite for D-rank Light unarmed damage.
Normal:
Shriveled Husks (x4 per roll)- Withered corpses of failed treasure hunters rise from the sands to shamble forward. They pursue relentlessly at a walking speed from all directions. Their touch seems to steal moisture from your body to deal damage and wither your own body wherever it touches, their own bodies seeming to get less withered.
Their touch deals A-rank spell damage, healing it by the same amount and increasing its speed by 100% each touch, and increasing it's next spell damage by 1/2 again (stacking).
They resist unarmed damage, taking half damage. They seem immune to all forms of supernatural influence (Any spell). They continue to shamble forward relentlessly until their bodies are entirely destroyed. Even as a severed head their head and body will continue to try to find its way towards you.
Every three posts since rolled they're capable of performing a Sand Rush, where their body becomes sand carried on by a breeze to rush in a straight line in your direction however far it may be +10 meters. Getting caught in the sand causes the touch damage.
Only way to stop them is to completely destroy their body, down to the last chunk, or seal them away somehow.
Strong:
Sand Crawler (x1 per roll)- A worm 88 meters long with hundreds of spike-like legs appears in the sands. It's mouth can stretch to 10 meters wide when it goes to attack, gaping and attempting to swallow anything in its path whole.
Getting caught in its maw deals S-ranked damage per post as its inside is full of spike-like teeth and barbed tongues that hook, tear, and rend flesh as it's throat muscles contract and 'roll' to push the teeth into you as it pushes you further down.
It takes two S-ranks worth of damage to kill. But seems impervious to all forms of physical injury, requiring spell damage to harm.
Boss:
Sand Demon. Multiple Sand Demons can appear if multiple bosses are rolled.
Sand Demons look like four-armed red, blue, or green skinned humanoids with short horns around their head and a penchant for jewelry and adornments and well trimmed beards.
They look much like the descriptions of djinn in folktales, but there's something significantly lesser about them. Like they're imitations. Fakes, and barely intelligent.
They are about as intelligent and as violent as "Orcs" and seem to have an unsociable appetite for draining the life force from the living and the spilling of blood.
Their touches and weapons provide the same effect as the touch of the Shriveled husks, but deal additional damage equal to B-rank unarmed damage + a Legendary weapon if striking with a scimitar or club.
Once per post of the one who rolled it, they are capable of summoning a swarm of locusts from their mouths.
They will automatically dodge the first attack they are not immune to per post, as they disappear in a shower of sand to reform instantly somewhere else within range of their melee strikes.
Whenever they take damage their heads seem to flip in place revealing a second face. Depending on the face, which matches the damage they took, they become immune to either non-spell damage or spell damage. (Getting hit with spell damage makes them immune to spell damage. Hit with nonspell damage makes them immune to nonspell damage).
Reward:
A wish.
Choose one.
Power: x3 A-rank job XP and one free signature spell slot of any element (So long as it isn't of a restricted type. Such as god slayer spell on a non-slayer, or a demon slayer.) 1 rank less than your own (Caps at A). Gain 10% more experience in general from future jobs.
Wealth: 150,000 jewels (x3 A-rank jewels) and one free L+ magic item made of gold and/or gems. IC your character always seems to find opportunities to expand their pockets with fortuitous events from thieves trying to pawn things of which they have no idea the true value to tripping over exposed pirate treasure staches. This translates to 20% more jewels from jobs.
Fame: Whenever you accomplish something there always seem to be witnesses and word just seems to spread with ease. Somehow your name just gets out there and people become likely to have at least heard your name, depending on your deeds. This can also open doors for you, figuratively, as opportunities arise based on your achievements. Whether your name is spoken with fondness or terror is up to your deeds. This translates to roughly 250% more fame or infamy from your IC actions and random people feel a suggestive impulse to talk about your actions over coffee and the like. "Have you heard x?"
