Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Rank C ♦ Black Rose ♦ Glacier God Slayer

Jobs that were not just simple community services were harder to find and initiate for Izayuki. While she was confident on her battle skills to an extent, she honestly did not know what those around her thought of lost magic. Most people were fine with it. It wasn't like it was anything too special, right? Either way, she wanted to tread carefully. Nobody knew her magic to the full extent yet, but it was not too troublesome. So far all she ever did was shift into an animal here or there which likely could lead people to believe that plus her enhanced physical aspects were her primary power. Like takeover magic to a degree, but far from it. Whatever.

She was thinking to herself and quite bored in all honesty. She was tired of 'chores' around town for a small salary and treat on the side if lucky. If she had wanted to do just this, she might not have even needed to join a magical guild. No, it was time to get serious. The girl craved some action again, and more than just chasing mice or entertaining guests or cooking food, even though it did require a lot and could tax someone's energy- and tolerance- when doing it. She wanted something that she could really spend her energy on, as she was a thrill seeker at heart and got bored far too easily. Izayuki fed on experiences to a degree, and needed more of them. Routine was tedious and a bore, thus she despised it and doing the same thing over and over.

So when the messenger arrived with the very formal letter, Izayuki was both extremely curious and slightly relieved. It was not addressed to her, but to the guild itself. She probably should have taken it to a higher up before reading it, but screw that. Curiosity kill the cat, er, tanuki, and she simply did not care for something being deemed too formal or confidential that a lowly rank C could not pry into. Shamelessly opening the letter while leaning against a wall in the tavern when the messenger was out of sight, dark pink eyes widened as she read the news. It seriously looked important. Even the Rune Knights had failed? That was unfortunate, so leave it to Black Rose!

Desperately wanting to help investigate the mysterious matters, the young mage scanned the tavern, on the lookout for familiar faces. Suddenly eyeing the familiar white tiger chibi, the guild ace who ought to see the letter anyway, and that one guy she could only remember was obsessed with cooking, Izayuki quickly made her way over and abruptly put the letter down on the table in front of Jin, shameless, and ignorant of if they were in a conversation or tending to other matters. All that mattered now was the chance for excitement and a dire request for help from the unknown. "Well, we goin' or not?" the girl said with that broad innocent smile despite the chance that they had not even read the letter yet as she had quickly placed it down and was already pumped for the opportunity. She would not take no for an answer, so hopefully they would not dare to push her away or out of it.

Jin was at the bar, serving his friend and teacher when it came to cooking. ”I want to learn the recipe for that Black velvet cake Magna, you need to find the time to teach me that” said Jin placing a plate of red velvet cake in front of Magna. He had taken one for himself so he wasn’t going to eat one all by himself. He also placed a little chibi cake for the chibi saber tooth and also served her some meat so she would be happy. Kaya instantly dived into the cake as it spread all over her nose and cheeks while she ate some of it, ”waaaahhh!!! Tasty!!” she said hugging herself from the sweetness. Jin smiled and took out his handkerchief to clean Kaya’s face when suddenly a letter was smashed on to the table, stopping him for a moment. He looked up at the familiar face, ”Well hello Iz-chan”, he welcomed her as he continued to clean Kaya’s face.

”We’re going, yay!!!” announced Kaya without waiting for Jin’s answer. Well, Jin was someone who never could say ‘no’ to anything and this wasn’t just anything. He literally couldn’t say ‘no’ though; he was once made to work hard in place of a guy who used Jin to do hard work. Later Jin took the pay for the labor and gave it to the old manipulative individual just because he had asked to. It was odd since he knew he was being taken advantage of and yet he couldn’t say ‘no’.

Jin went back and brought another plate for her before picking up the letter and reading the details. ”Let’s go then” said Jin with a bit of a serious expression. He could remember a similar case from before and that was not something to smile at. ”We’d best be careful with this one” he said as he looked at Magna and Kaya, ”I don’t have a fond memory of dealing with the unknown”. The previous job that he went with Romulus, Romulus was seriously injured after that. Jin too ended up with a good amount of injuries. The only one who had made out of the incident with just scratches was Kaya.

His training with Jin had been long, but both of them had grown. Jin perhaps moreso because whilst he cooked as a job he had not dedicated his life to it and gained the skills that Magna had. However, with the training he had been providing Magna had seen mistakes in his own cooking and improved them. There was also the factor that he had gotten so used to cooking and serving solo that his skills as a head chef and a sous chef had grown rusty. His training of Jin had helped temper his skills.

"Well, for that one Jin I'd need to get Rei's permission as it is her recipe as mujch as mine." Magna said with a grin as he used a fork to take a small piece of the cake. He admired the colour and clarity of it as Kaya dug into her own version. It was at that point that another member of their little  team decided to show up and without even trying to ask if they were busy she slammed a piece of paper down and asked if they were going. Magna greeted her with a smile. "Howdy. Long time no see." he said, but then continued focusing upon the colour of the cake as Jin came in with another cake for Izayuki and began reading the job.

"The colour is definitely improved. I doubt I could do much better." Magna said with a proud smile upon his face and then began to slowly chew the cake. When he finished it seemed that Jin had decided  they were going on this job with Iza. Magna didn't mind. To him and most of the team Jin was the de facto leader of the team. "The taste is also improved. The texture need some work though. Its a tad dry." He nodded and reached into his pocket making sure something was in there before nodding.

"I'm ready. Shall we head to the port then?" Magna asked said seriously. He had a few new tricks to show off. He'd grown a lot more serious when it came to fighting in jobs recently. Though outside battle he was still the same guy, just a lot more improved.

Yep, it seemed like she had indeed interrupted something as the words last said and the responses became clear. Something about cooking? And cake? Well, Iza could not argue anything against red velvet cake. Jin had introduced her to the thing, and no matter how it was made she always found it beyond marvelous. She was not the best food critique like Magna seemed to be, but so long as it was enjoyable that was all that mattered- she approved. However, her focus for once was not on food, leisure, or anything of the sort, despite her hunger. Right now the others were acting way too slow for her taste; no pun intended. It was like that moment when the excited kid was waiting for parents to understand or catch up, but in a far different case.

The job was indeed serious and not something to be taken lightly, but the fact that there was unknown and this was all a mystery only rushed her excitement and adrenaline. There was something that had not been experienced yet, and she had to do everything she could in her power to ensure this was knocked off the list of things she had yet to unleash her senses on. Nodding fiercely and enthusiastically at Magna's suggestion on heading to the port, Izayuki ran over to the tavern exit and turned to wait for them, once again like an overstimulated child. But who could blame her? Boredom had charged her energy to the brim, and social interaction and friendship among their little team would only keep her going.

As the trio moved along to the port and docks, a place Iza had only been once before and not too close to the actual boats, the girl's mouth gaped wide in amazement while walking as soon as those ships came into close range. Black Rose had such amazing and interesting ships! She could not even begin to describe them in words or contemplate and fathom them too hard in her head. And by the time they were actually on the huge and unique ship, the young Godslayer was near the front peering out over the edge and at the sea. Never had she experienced this before. Job or not, seeing the waves rolling and crashing up at the sides of the ever-growing-larger boat, Hyoujin marked this as one of the most impressive things in the world. That view of the water and the sunny and blue-skied horizon.
    It was beyond anything. Everything.

Jin bit another chunk of the cake that he was eating and had prepared to better understand what Magna was pointing out. He couldn’t help but agree as he focused a bit more, ”You’re right, I’ll need to make sure this is fixed the next time I make it. Thanks, helpful as always” said Jin with a nod and smile. It was thanks to Magna’s teaching that he had improved this much. Kaya finished with her cake and Jin did too, after which Izayuki ran outside; probably in a hurry to get going. ”Last time, I wasn’t able to protect Romulus. This time, I won’t let any harm come to my friends”, he made a firm decision as he grabbed the letter and looked at Magna and Kaya. ”I’ll inform Sophie that we’re leaving and join you guys on the port”, hearing that Kaya ran outside to join Izayuki. As a chef and more of a creature of habit, he had learned the importance of little things from Magna, so he cleaned the bar before leaving.

After that, he left to find Sophie which took a bit of time but she was finally located in the library. Jin informed him about their plan and she approved. Jin also rushed and met up with Fira, informing her about his and Kaya’s departure; she wished him good luck and he was off. Jin met up with the group shortly and accompanied them to the port where they boarded the large plant based vessels. Jin met up with the captain, informed them of their location and the vessel set sail. Kaya was accompanying Izayuki as she stared at the sea from the edge of the ship.

Jin walked up to Magna while the two girls had some time to themselves, ”I’m not sure what to make of these mysterious events. I have witnessed one before and Romulus was seriously injured because of that. I’m going to rely on you again buddy”, he said with a serious expression. Jin was slightly nervous about what awaited them at their destination. Meanwhile, Kaya had begun to establish yet another bond. ”Ne ne Izzy-chan, do you have a friend like Guardy and Mu-chan?”. Kaya didn’t know that Izayuki had yet to meet Aegis, who was nicknamed ‘guardy’ by Kaya. While Mu-chan was Rei-chan’s robotic friend and pet.

Magna nodded in agreement as they stood aboard the plant-based ship and Jin said that he would rely on Magna's help to keep the group safe. The last time they had been on a job together Kaya had got seriously injured. This time he would make sure that didn't happen. "Aegis and I have a couple of new tricks up our sleeves." Magna said with a determined nod. "This time everyone is coming back from this job in one piece." There was a note of seriousness in his voice and his eyes, as usual when he got serious, flickered red, but soon faded back to their normal golden colour.

He had hated that Kaya had got hurt in the precious job. Fortunately, they had Aegis to help protect her in that job. This time though they would have Aegis again, but his new trick would definitely keep Kaya safe. It was a technique the knight had developed solely for her protection though it would work well on others. Kaya was his friend. One of the few people the knight actually spoke to other than Magna. They had grown close on jobs. Magna had grown close to Jin via food and cooking. Aegis had grown close to Kaya via her persistence. He had grown fond of her it seemed. An odd thought really, but a nice one.

Magna stood atop the ship as it sailed and with a few gestures summoned up various utensils and ingredients. With those he began to rapidly cook a new dish he'd been preparing. When it was finished he had prepared three types of onigiri. "Might as well eat to build up our strength whilst we sail." he said with a smile. "We have pork meat with garlic and honey, shio combo cheese and negoshiodare." They were food designed to give the weary a kick start of energy and wake people up in the morning after work. It should be ideal to start their day.

It was amazing to observe the ship gradually grow larger and larger as it sailed on across the sea to their destination. Out of everything going on at that moment, the one thing she could not freeze was the never-ceasing amazement of the large body of water as they trekked gracefully along the surface with waves rolling past or meeting their end when crashing against the side of the large plant-based structure. A little dot of land had already appeared on the horizon, which only seemed to add to her excitement. It meant that more adventure was on the way; now if only they could get there faster...
So enchanted and bedazzled at the many thoughts and the scenery, Izayuki almost did not hear Kaya's smalltalk question.

A friend like Guardy and Mu-chan? The young wizard had no idea who they were, but intuition seemed to sway her to the idea that they were like Kaya, a pet and companion of sorts. However, she did not want to assume, thus went on to shake her head. The only 'friends' she really had were the few people in Black Rose she had met. She was fast to consider people a friend, but they all shared equal ground in a way, and could likely never get close enough for her to completely trust them. Then again, she did not mind not having deep relationships and friendships. The fun and experiences she was taking with the ones she knew and at least personally was loyal to was good enough. "No, Kaya-chan. Who are they?"

Her question was almost interrupted as she lightly sniffed the air and with unnaturally keen senses, smelled the aroma of rice, meat, honey, among many other ingredients that Izayuki could not name. She had never been any good at cooking, but was content as anyone with the idea of a good meal. As soon as the chef of their team began to finish his ever so loved and voluntary task, the girl cracked a satisfied smile. Indeed, there was no better way to start out a day's work than with some good and filling food. Onigiri was especially enticing. "Ooh, could I try negoshiodare?" she asked, moving away from the railed edge of the boat and back towards her other teammates. Iza of course had little idea what was in this 'negoshiodare', but the word was fun to say and rolled off the tongue, thus it must be tasty!

Kaya’s ears twitched as she heard the strange question. Odd really, she didn’t know what Kaya was talking about? Normally, Kaya never had to explain what she was talking about; despite the fact that only the ones closest to her understood her. She wasn’t used to explaining but Izayuki wasn’t familiar with her, so she would have to adjust until Izayuki could begin to understand the chibi tiger. ”Guardy is Maggy’s friend, he’s tall like gaaahh and strong like grrr! Mu-chan is Rei-chan’s friend, he’s tall too like bwaaaahhh and he talks weird like beep boop beep”, an impressive explanation from Kaya. Jin was busy talking to Magna so he didn’t notice that Kaya actually bothered to explain herself, it would have been a jaw dropping moment for Jin. Kaya was probably more comfortable around cute girls but that wasn’t true in Magna’s case; Magna was a handsome chef and Kaya was quite comfortable around him too. Well, she wasn’t uncomfortable around Jin but just that she behaved in a different way with Jin. However, Kaya’s demeanor towards females and males was different in lots of ways. Firstly, she was always nicer to the girls and quite mean to the guys.

Before Izayuki could indulge further into the discussion about pets, the smell of food acquired Kaya’s attention and off she went. She came to Magna expecting food to be presented to her but suddenly felt the urge to eat with ‘guardy’. ”I wanna eat with guardy, make guardy come out” said Kaya frowning a little as she made those adorable cat eyes to Magna. Jin grabbed a plate and didn’t interfere in their matters, Magna and Kaya had developed a good relationship now. So he would allow the two to sort out the matter of the armored individual. He quietly enjoyed the food while replenishing his energy and casually smiling as he normally did.

Magna handed the girl Izayuki one of the Negoshiodare ones. It was quite a well stuffed onigiri and one that was sure to help revitalise them ready for the job in hand. When Kaya came over and asked to eat with 'guardy' he smiled and pulled out the kitchen knife which began to glow brightly and then formed into the large living armor known as Aegis to most, but 'guardy' to Kaya. There was no real way to tell emotion by him except by tone of voice and his eyes, but he seemed to radiate an aura of happiness as with the groan and creak of metal he bent down to stroke Kaya. "I do not eat Kaya, but I would be happy to sit with you and converse whilst you eat." he said and sat down. Magna raised an eyebrow. That was probably the longest sentance he had ever heard out of Aegis. It was also said with the kindest tones. Kaya really had brought out the best in Aegis. That was probably why he had developed his new technique.

Magna filled a plate with one of each type of the onigiri and placed them down at the top of some steps, just out of the way of anyone who might be walking. Aegis sat down at the bottom of the steps and waited for Kaya to walk over to eat from the plate. Magna meanwhile filled another plate for himself and sat down. In the distance he could see land. It would not be long before they docked.

He smiled as he sat there eating his Onigiri. These were some of his favourite moments. The journey before a job. The chance to bond together with his friends. No, they were not just friends. They were his family and in truth he didn't think he could have a much better one. This was true joy, a perfect moment, the calm before the storm.

The explanation was beyond adorable, to put it simply. Izayuki could not help but give a small giggle at the chibi tiger's unique descriptive 'words', which were more like sounds but she still got the general idea. It was too bad- she really did not have a little pet, friend, or travel companion like Jin, and now to discover, Magna had. Then again, she had been alone for a while now, and unfortunately it seemed others were better off when she was alone. For one, she really loved camaraderie and that trust and love between her and her friends. But she had never given much inward interest in getting too close to anyone despite her demeanor and outgoing personality. After what had happened the last two or three times, the idea of having a 'best friend' or anyone like that seemed like a very scary one indeed.

But on a brighter note, she trusted her new team, Kvasir. And best of all they seemed loyal and strong, enough for her not to get them wound up in the scenarios the others met. Smiling as she accepted her negoshiodare-flavored onigiri, which tasted amazing, and watching with modest amazement at the release of Aegis, Izayuki sat down on a nearby ship box, quite content with how everything was playing out for her day so far. "Thanks Magna-kun! This is the best onigiri I've ever had!" she said gratefully and cheerfully as she worked on finishing the large energy-boosting travel-meal.

As they ate, the ship moved closer and closer to the island, and many minutes later with the ship's speed they were docking. But the time was most enjoyable with company, and Iza looked forward to every second of this new job with them. It might be one on the more serious side of the scale, but the thoughts and ideas of what could happen energized her nonetheless. Or was that the onigiri? Whatever~

Kaya gracefully walked to the plates with food for her, then leaped up at ‘guardy’s’ lap as she ate. She was happy at the arrival of her dear friend, guardy. ”Ne ne guardy… whagahgs isghagla isysyots”, said Kaya as she attempted to make small talk with her mouth full. At this point, Jin wouldn’t even be surprised if Aegis was able to understand what Kaya was speaking to him about. In a very short amount of time, the two had gotten fairly close to one another as friends. The ship finally docked and the group came off the ship, now ready to take the second part of the journey. It would take them quite a few hours by land to get to the ancient ruins. Jin went ahead and arranged for the carriage that would escort them to their destination.

The crew then embarked on their journey on land while Kaya continued to whisper into Aegis’s ear as she rode his shoulder. Finally they arrived at their destination, Jin was used to this much travelling by now; he did expect Izayuki to be a bit more tired though. ”We will treat this as hostile territory unless we find clues that suggest otherwise. Based on what we’ve all read in the job flyer, we need to be more careful from here on ahead” said Jin explaining to his friends. He had a bit of experience when it came to the unknown so he decided to go on ahead and share his experience with them. He looked around using his thermal vision when he spotted a small speck of blood in the distance. He pointed in that direction: ”Their seems to be something suspicious there. ”. He went on ahead of the group to investigate more as he turned around a broken wall and froze in his tracks. He didn’t need his thermal vision to see the horrifying seen that was in front of him. If the journey so far was a piece of heaven, they had just stumbled on to the gates of hell.

Magna was honestly surprised how close the small feline known as Kaya and the living armored figure known as Aegis had grown. In truth they were perhaps even closer than Magna was with Aegis himself. It was both heartening and disheartening. He felt kind of like he'd missed something. Perhaps he hadn't attempted to bond with Aegis as much because he was the family guardian? He had only really ever called Aegis out to help him with things rather than just to chill out or talk or do other stuff friends did. Had he been a bad friend? Is that why Aegis and Kaya got on so well? THeir bond was now so strong that AEgis seeemed to be able to understand Kaya even when she had her mouth full. That was an impressive feat and it truly proved their bond. He sighed deeply. He would have to think more on this later because they had arrived at the job location.

As Jin said the job location and the area near it could be presumed hostile until they had proof otherwise so they all had to be ready. Magna focused and his frying pan appeared in his hand. Aegis meanwhile focused causing the gem upon his head to glow brightly before his axe came out of it. Suddenly though Jin pointed indicating that he had spotted something and headed off. He headed off to look at it and Magna slowly followed. His pace suddenly quickened as he saw a look come over JIn's face. He turned around the broken wall himself and too froze as he saw what was ahead.

"Hell on earthland." he said in a quiet shocked tone. Just what had happened here? What had come out of the mysterious door that had been found? It was as if a battle had taken place. No, not a battle. A massacre. Nearby was what was clearly a rune knight's corpse, but it seemed the very flesh had been torn from the bones. Bones which were cracked and devoid of marrow. What could of done such a thing?

The boat ride and everything during and leading up to where they were now had indeed been a little slice of heaven. She was surrounded by friends with the ocean breeze hitting her face and adorable factors such as Kaya there to entertain. And naturally, she could not forget the most delicious and filling onigiri she had ever tasted cooked so easily by Magna. What was coming was an abrupt change, and even despite Jin's warning nothing could have prepared her for what she was about to see.

Then again, she had seen it before all too many times. First before she had been granted her powers, and then far too often afterwards. Some even caused by her own hand, but she could not chance to care now. All it would end up doing was changing or destroying her. Thus, she dared not to look back and gazed only at the surreal scene before them. That ever so familiar perky smile she always wore was long gone as they faced the reality and gravity of the horrendous situation in front of their eyes and at their feet. Her lips were pursed and straight and her dark pink eyes hard without that usual happy shimmer. Solemnity ruled and there was no going back.

As much as she loved adventure, fighting, challenges, and the like, the vicious smell of death and decay in her keen senses was enough to make her want to gag and vomit. It brought back horrid memories, and only made her want to inch her way forward to put an end to whatever was going on.
Her Freezing Aura was beyond being in full swing by now. Those around her could most definitely feel the chill around her to a degree, regardless of how or who they were to her. While it would do no harm to her comrades, anyone else who dared enter too close to her would find themselves in a gradual bind, almost literally. "Let's go," she said seriously for once, with a slight dark edge, which was almost out of character for her. But they had no idea who she really was, so why did it matter? Right now, Izayuki was simply focused on making whoever did this pay.

He couldn’t have said it any better, Magna used the perfect words to describe the situation before them. This scene was a bit too much and it brought bad memories of the previous job Jin had went on with Romulus. There was the scent of blood and death everywhere and they had just got here. It was obvious that things were about to get much worst. ”It pains me to leave the dead in such a state but we can not bury them until we have dealt with the one responsible for all of this”, he said with a grim expression on his face. As much as the death of these innocent individuals pained him, it equally angered him when he thought about the perpetrator. Having observed this scene, Kaya could not utter a single word nor could she smile or make a silly comment. She too remembered a similar scene from the past. ”Jinny” she said in a barely audible tone as she rode Aegis’s shoulder, he only nodded in reply. Jin knew how Kaya would be feeling at this very moment but little could be done about it for now.

”From here on out, we will watch each other’s back with every single step we take. If you spot an enemy, don’t take it on by yourself unless you have to. Teamwork is our only hope in this situation”. He didn’t realize but he was leading the group as he gave them instructions. It was just the basic safety measures and what the group should do logically. The creatures capable of such feats wouldn’t be normal. Last time, he had faced such a situation his friend had ended up gravely injured and Jin too didn’t walk out unscathed. He intended to make sure that the same thing didn’t happen this time.

It was then that Jin’s thermal vision suddenly spotted a heat signature other than the group. The enemy had decided to make its appearance.

Without much warning ,except perhaps a look of apprehension on the face of Jin, a huge scaled creature came out of nowhere. Its razor sharp claws were soaked in blood and it was approaching them very fast flanked by two dogs. These dogs were clearly somehow diseased or something because they didn't look normal at all. A strange ooze seemed to seep from their mouths. They were even faster than the scaled creature. So fast in fact that as soon as the creatures came into view the dogs were upon them. Magna barely had time to react as he swung out his frying pan cracking one on the head and sending it flying to the side. Aegis suddenly came in at that moment swinging his axe and bifurcated the one Magna had hit. It was dead as quickly as it had came. However, that momentary distraction was enough for the scaled creature to get into range and it swept its huge scaled, clawed arm into Aegis sending him crashing through a large stone.

"Looks like we found one of the things responsible for this." Magna said his eyes flickering to their red hue. However, there was something different about them this time. It seemed like they were almost more primal. Aegis rose to his feet a flicker in his eyes as he charged forward.

"Leave this one to me." he shouted as he hurled his full weight into its side knocking it over. It let out a strange guttural bellowing sound as it swung its powerful spiked tail at Aegis. Aegis was ready though and slammed his axe into the ground before catching the tail as it came swinging at him. With a great huff of exertion he spun and hurled the creature a fair distance away before grabbing his axe and charging towards the creature once more.

That just left the dog for them to deal with, but that dog was fast and only seemed faster after is companion had fallen. It was leaping all around Magna pushing his speed to its limits to stop it hitting him. He couldn't even defend himself. It was all he could do to just dodge.

As soon as the odd scaled creature and the dogs appeared, Izayuki watched as Magna seemed to snap into action against a dog. However, that monster who seemed to obviously be the strongest of the trio had easily thrown one of her comrades to the side. Just how strong was it? As the events unfolded before her eyes, the young mage could not tell if she was more disappointed or relieved as the armored friend of Magna's took off with the scaly beast. She wanted to take on and demolish who or whatever was responsible for the bloodbath in the surrounding ruins. It was unforgivable. Iza had seen similar displays far too often in the past, many even caused by her own hand yet somehow in a less bloody but crueler way.

Blinking and shaking her head slightly to rid her mind of the vile thoughts, Izayuki rushed forward, eyeing the dog who was unnaturally fast going for her companion. Magna was able to dodge, but she could only guess that doing it so much would exhaust him before long. Stretching her hand out towards the canine, she attempted to freeze the moisture surrounding it. "Ousaru Kogoeru," the mage murmured as she worked one of her oldest and most familiar spells.
Instantly, the dog began to slow down to the point where he was in an obvious slow motion, not completely frozen, but slowed to the point where someone could easily walk faster than he moved.

Once the spell had been cast and her chef friend could either move out of the way or retaliate, Izayuki aimed to kick the dog to the side and into a nearby ruined stone slab. Hopefully that would be enough to either kill or knock it out. And if not, it would still remain too slow to really do any harm. If someone wanted to further ensure an end was put to it, she had nothing against that being done. Even if in a way the canines were closer in many regards to her than anyone else, they played a major role in the destruction done here, most obviously, and deserved no mercy.

They were dealing with monsters in this job, the fact was clear as day as the first batch of monsters appeared. Aegis moved into action and dominated the larger monster; also separating him from the other two. Jin had a mind to step in and help Aegis until he said to leave the creature to him. As Jin considered Aegis, one of his comrades and he was one to trust his friends, he obliged. The remaining two creatures were little dogs and wouldn’t be noticeable under normal circumstances. These dogs however, did not have the normal aura nor did they have any attributes of a normal dog. Magna dealt with one of them and with the revelation of her magic, Izayuki dealt with the last one. ”Ice magic?” said Jin out loud as he looked at the female mage. Was it simply ice magic? No, it didn’t have that feel to it, it felt like something more. Instead of jumping to conclusions, he decided to let Izayuki explain about her magic. Jin was a fan of magic and that was a well known fact by now, so until Izayuki explained her magic, he would probably not stop bugging her. Unless it was something personal like Rei, in which case he would let her have her space.

”Awww, I wanted to fight too” complained Kaya as she stared into the direction where Aegis was. ”Aegis said to leave it to him, so let’s do that Kaya” said Jin as he patted the chibi saber tooth tiger sitting on his shoulder. ”But I wanna I wanna I wanna” insisted Kaya like a little child. It would probably be best if Jin gave her a thing to think about. ”I know I know, I get it. Honestly, I wanted to fight too but since my friends stepped up I decided to trust them instead. This is also a fight you know. Supporting your friends, trusting them, relying on them; this isn’t something trivial”, like an older brother of sorts he did his best to explain to Kaya. Unlike the usual Kaya, this time she nodded listening to Jin. May be she would be a bit more receptive if Aegis or guardy as she called him also explained a little to her.

OOC: A little character development post. Let's just do one of this in this post turn and then do another monster roll after that, maybe?

Izayuki's ice magic or cold magic or whatever exactly it was had allowed her to deal with the swift moving dog quite effectively. It seemed that three of the team known as Kvasir employed the cold in some way in their magic. It was quite interesting in a way. He wondered if they could combine their spells somehow for a greater effect. He would have to talk to them about that later. He smiled as he heard Kaya wanting to go into the fight and help Aegis. However, there was little need. Aegis was a skilled warrior with decades if not centuries of experience and as Magna's own power grew so did that of Aegis. He was stronger than Kaya would of seen him on most jobs. He wondered if Kaya would accept the response of Jin. She seemed very fond of Aegis and likely wanted to help him with the scaled creature for that reason as well as her own desire to fight and to some extent to also show off. She was young after all. Perhaps that was why Aegis got on well with Kaya so much. Perhaps she reminded him of his own youth.

Aegis however did not need help at all. The scaled creature might have the edge on him in speed, but due to its size it was an easy target and even when it dodged out of the way of where Aegis was targeting he generally hit somewhere else. Aegis had quickly adapted to this and instead of going for where he would normally target he instead performed feints. Thus when it moved it moved into his blows. It was soon cut down. Aegis, unlike Magna and Jin, was not against killing. He was a warrior and the creature was the enemy. It had died honorably in battle. So he did not mind it falling in battle.

Magna grimaced as he watched the creature die in battle. He hated unnecessary death, but perhaps this creature deserved it. It had been responsible for many deaths or at least so it appeared.

Izayuki was not really too familiar with the types of magic her teammates used. However, she would resolve to discover it in her own time. Magna obviously used some unique cooking magic and Aegis seemed a brawler and melee fighter for the most part, but for now she could mostly only guess what Jin and Kaya could do. As of now she could not quite imagine what the saber tooth chibi tiger did in battle, but guessed that it must be decent judging by her levels of confidence.

At Jin's inquiry of her magic, Iza thought about telling them straight up or just waiting. In a way, her magic could be considered slightly more controversial. While she pretty much doubted that her comrades were literal gods, it still was something that could potentially be up in the air depending on who she was talking to. Thankfully, so far they all seemed trustworthy and accepting. Maybe she could open up to them a bit more than she usually opened up to anyone? Right now they seemed to trust her at least, and were pretty open. And what did she have to lose just being honest? Nothing, she hoped.

"Ice Magic?" the young mage repeated softly, understanding that it was a valid guess and quite close, but still leagues away from correct if one thought about it. She did not just have control over ice, really. "Sort of..." Izayuki answered with a small smile. If he further asked, she would answer. But right now Jin seemed to be giving an explanation to Kaya that she instantly admired. It rang with truth, and only made her enjoy what she had gotten herself into even more. The team had boundaries and respected and trusted each other. She was happy to be a part of something like it.

”So next time, we’ll jump into battle; okay?” said Jin finishing up his explanation to Kaya. Kaya unexpectedly, understood and complied with Jin’s ‘request’ and decided to wait for the next battle. They had just gotten here and it was obvious that their struggle to find and take down the culprit had only begun. ”Sort of? This means the aura I felt earlier, it had something more to it”. Jin was at a cross road for now, he didn’t want to make Izayuki uncomfortable in any way but he also wanted to know about her magic. Not knowing a magic that was right in front of him made him feel uneasy. It was kind of that itch that you can’t scratch and it makes you want to rub your back against the wall. After giving it quite a bit of thought, he decided to ask her a question about her magic. If she would reply then he would continue to inquire, if she did not then he would let her be and not bother her until she felt comfortable. ”Alright then, let’s talk about our magic. We are in a team and for our teamwork and better coordination; it’s better we know one another’s magic. I’ll go first”, maybe this strategy would make her more at ease.

Before Jin could explain about his magic though, Kaya decided to step in and tell about hers first: ”I can get big.. and go like gaaaahhh!!!”. Another Kaya version of explanation but that was just about it. Her strength was in the simplicity of her magic, she grew in size and thus in strength and durability. ”Yes, she’s stronger than me in her battle form. And I use heat manipulation magic. It’s an advanced caster magic that I have yet to completely explore. It allows me to use both heat and cold based magic spells”. Jin’s magic as always was a little bit difficult to explain and more of a science lesson.

Magna nodded in agreement at the discussion of their magic. It would be good to know what everyone was capable of. Knowing the ingredients that were on offer for a recipe allowed you the greatest chance of creating a delicious meal. The same went for a team. If they knew eachothers' magic to some extent they would be able to work together better. It made sense to perhaps reveal his secret to Izayuki. He lifted his top slightly revealing something wrapped around his waist. This slowly unwound to reveal that it was a monkey tail. A rather odd tail at that for it was swirled orange and white. "Not part of my magic, but...might as well show it now." he said with a shrug twirling his frying pan in his hand. "As for my magic its basically cooking related. I can summon up ingredients and tools for various techniques. It mostly focuses on combinations though."

He was curious as to what this woman was capable of. She was part of the team and he knew little to nothing about her. Aegis walked over at that moment wiping his axe off across some grass cleaning off the blood. "My magic involves defending people and enhancing my physicality in various ways." he said and then looked at Kaya. "Or to use Kaya's terms. I go rawr and things go splat." If he had been able to grin it was clear that he would of at that moment. Magna's jaw however literally dropped at this statement and he almost seemed to collapse from shock. That was possibly the most bizarre thing he'd ever heard out of Aegis' lips. What had happened to the knight? The chef took a deep breath and looked at Kaya for a moment before turning his gaze to Jin with a raised eyebrow upon his face. He wondered if Jin was as surprised as he was.

Izayuki Hyoujin ♦ Rank C ♦ Black Rose ♦ Glacier God Slayer

The idea of talking about magic seemed like a good one, and put her a bit more at ease. At least they were the ones to go first, so she would not be the only one in the light. But now this forced her out of the dark for good. Nodding, Izayuki listened intently to Jin before Kaya butt in with her explanation for her abilities. She could grow? That indeed would be quite a sight to see, and beyond adorable. After all, who would not love a giant chibi saber tooth tiger? Even if it was a bit of an oxymoron...
But then again, Jin had said she was stronger than him. Did she stay kawaii, cute, and chibi? Iza could not tell just from 'gaahhhhh' alone.

As for Okura's magic, it seemed straightforward enough. The ability to move heat of perhaps matter or energy up and down in temperature, if she thought about it, or was that a part of the magic? It seemed like something more scholarly minds would pick up on better, but the word 'cold' was what captured Iza's attention. Could he perhaps make ice? Or snow? The possibility literally seemed delicious, and quite handy of course for them being on the same team. Perhaps it could help her. If only there was a way to aid him as well; perhaps she would find that out in time.

But out of everything that was given light, the thing that Iza found most interesting was the monkey tail on her younger comrade. Just what was he? Of course, she was not too surprised having seen countless tailed and animalian people before, but the fact that Magna was one of them was a bit surprising in a way. Then again, like she was one to talk. Yet what was he? And more specifically, what type of monkey did he represent? While she could easily sift through the almost limitless realistic forms at her disposal in her mind to figure out his species, it was too much to think about right then. Thankfully, his power seemed simple enough. Same with Aegis. And the ability to conjure food just like that... it was godly to a degree. Food was important, after all.

Now it was her turn. After her teammates had spilled their magic explanations to a decent extent, now she was the only one who had yet to tell. Indeed her magic was not just ice, snow, cold, and the like. It went much deeper than just that. For one, it was on the darkest spectrum of magic. It was demonic and evil, and she had divine control over her element. It was a lost magic passed down by the only one who could teach it, an ice god herself. And now that power fell on the girl. Now she was the one with the dire freezing cold and darkness inside her core. Time to come clean with it. Not like it mattered. Kvasir would never sell her out, right? "I'm the Glacier God Slayer," Izayuki said neutrally, sweet, and simple. Was there really much to explain? Not really. "Glacier". Such a weird term but that was how it went. Thankfully it possessed much more pizzazz than just "ice", which was chill and cool with her.

Just like Magna, Aegis’s explanation was a jaw dropping moment for Jin too. He didn’t think that he would ever come across another who would explain things like Kaya. However, the quiet and subtle veteran warrior had just explained his magic in Kaya’s terminology too. Kaya giggled so loud when she heard guardy’s explanation. ”Hai hai, he’s awesome like that” said Kaya as she happily ran around guardy, celebrating his… explanation? This was also probably the longest sentence Jin had heard Aegis speak. He noticed Magna’s stare as he too had a similar expression on his face. Jin couldn’t help but end up laughing at that, both of them were shocked at it but this was good. He was happy that Aegis was becoming easier to talk to now and that was probably thanks to Kaya. Little did she realize, she had a real gift to connect to people.

Jin only recovered from one shock just to get hit by another. He was expecting something different but a glacier god slayer? He wasn’t even sure if those existed yet. This was one of the lost magics that he had heard of, the ones most rare. ”So that aura that I felt earlier, I was right” he finally spoke about it. There was no reason to keep it in, it would be better if they just took it more casual. Her expression were pretty normal so Jin deducted that she wasn’t burdened by her magic. He didn’t care about the aura, if it was magic then his perspective about it remained the same. ”Well it would definitely be fun working with you”, he said with a smile on his face. Jin’s ability to make ice would definitely come in handy to her. Maybe they could combine their magic to achieve a much stronger spell. With the addition of Magna’s skills, he didn’t dare imagine the devastating spells they could conjure up.

While the black rose mages discussed their magic, something else in the distance had begun to make it’s move.
