Magic
Primary Magic: Shadow Magic
Secondary Magic: (Must be filled in later. Magic you bought at the store goes here)
Caster or Holder: Caster
Description:
Lyria's particular Shadow magic treats shadows as endless pool of resources, the possibilities are endless. As long as there is light and an object to cast a shadow it will produce a pool of dark, shadowy potential. The key to the massive amount of potential is having the magic skill, knowledge, and most importantly, energy to harness the ebony depths. To the average passer-by a shadow is a two dimensional image cast by an object and light. Whilst to Lyria it become's a three dimensional, solid, malleable object that can be honed and manipulated. She can harness them to mimic her movements, form into a solid object, and create a structure all its own. If a life force where to be connected to the shadow it would then have to move just as its casters shadow moves, due to the inability to separate a life force from its shadow. All of these have to remain connected to the source that creates the pool with the exception should two shadows merge together and then they flow from one source to the next without discrepancy of origination.
The use of the shadows resource is diverse and dependent on the caster's designation of how that shadow should be utilized. For Lyria her potential is only starting to come into realization. She could upon deeper study attach her life-force shadow to any life-force target that is not greater in prowess than she and manipulate them as if they where a marionette doll, this spell is a high rank and not within her current mastery. It is something she studies diligently towards, to surpass her mentor in shadow possession. This spell can make a target them mimic her every move, unfortunately she would not be able make them use their magic on themselves unless at the given time of shadow possession they were casting a spell that the target may be redirected to the caster, at least she hasn't witnessed that capability. The skill she aspires to may only allow her shadow possession to harm the culprit at her rank if she is willing to harm herself in the process, since it is a body control ability it requires a body to mimic. While the marionette spell may, one day, be able to be more diverse in its possession she currently is able to form a solid cage, rope, or binding that can wrap around a target and restrain them. This shadow manipulation allows more of a direct attack on the target to themselves since it is not directly tied to the targets life force and therefore she could force the target to harm ones self under such a binding. At her current rank Lyria can mimic two smaller weapons of her choice to deal a fraction of damage or she may fashion one larger weapon to deal full damage, these shadow weapons still have to remain connected to the main source. Her capability to mold shadow into a tangible solid object also allows her to create a barrier such as: a wall, shield, or other defensive object.
The shadows are Lyria's companions and as such she is able to call on her Shadow Hounds to come to her defense and aid in battle. These wolves of darkness only come to being with life-force shadow as the binding life to a pool. They have razor claws and teeth and a formidable fortitude. As they are shadow creatures they do not possess actual spirits as they are birthed from the gnashing of teeth of the monsters Lyria has reside within her. They are her fiercest companions, silent and deadly.
Strengths:
1. Light: Light is a shadows strength because without the light a shadow cannot be cast from an object. The more light there is the more potent the shadow becomes because its concentrated in a smaller space.
2. Miday: Miday is the time of day when shadows are at their most natural potency due to the placement of the sun and the potency of the shadow due to the shortness of the shadow pool. This can also make it more difficult to use.
3. Length: The length of a shadow is very important because the shorter it is the stronger the shadow is because it is contained in a smaller holding area. But a longer shadow is easy to work with for reaching purposes, though the longer the shadow the less concentrated it becomes.
4. Life-Force Target Drain: If Lyria uses her personal shadow (life-force shadow) to attach to a targets life-force shadow it will slowly eat away at their magical power or physical health. This either fuels the shadow adding to its strength or creates a health re-gen for Lyria. This affect is slow and not terribly noticeable, generally leaves one feeling winded if enough force is exerted.
5. Strong: Lyria's shadows have strength to them as they are solidified by her magic. If she uses her magic barrier it can have the strength to withstand spells and physical attacks that are equal or less than her own spells or strength. In order for a target to overpower her shadow bindings one must have a superior magic and physical strength to her own.
6. Darkness/Night: One would assume the night/darkness would be the undoing for shadows since it appears to make a shadow non-existent. However, this is not the case. Since Lyria's shadow's actively move and even when there is minuscule light there is still shadows. The darkness allows her shadows, though weakened unless with her life-force shadow, to move without being spotted as easily.
Weaknesses: (What are the weaknesses of your magic? List all weaknesses possible, if the magic requires channeling -time- to use, able to hit self or allies, drains life if used, etc, list it. You must have at least one more weakness than strengths. Remember to separate them individually and bullet point them.)
1. Light: Just as you can't have a shadow without light, the light can also dispel a shadow if expelled in bursts to disrupt the flow of the shadow and break it from the shadow's source.
2. Darkness/Night: Though the darkness/night makes the mobility of the shadows easier it can also disrupt the flow of their power if any light, such as the moon is obscured and there is no backup source to keep the shadows cast.
3. No Harm without self harm: For spells that require harm to come to the target through the manipulation of her movements Lyria would have to be willing to subject herself to the same damage. (this weakness does not apply to any current spells but may in the future)
4. Life-Force Drain: If Lyria uses her personal shadow (life-force) in any spell and damage would be done to the shadows she will take damage personally.
5. Length: Just as this can be a strength it is also a weakness. For a shorter shadow Lyria may have a stronger pool potency for her shadows but range is limited with a shorter shadow until she can bridge the gap, she has to play connect the shadows. For the longer shadows that are cast at twilight and night the potency is weaker and this can require pulling more than one shadow together to get the strength she might require.
6. Time of Day: The time of day determines the potency of the shadows strength, and the frequency of cast shadows. Location also takes a play into this as well.
7. Maintaining Shadow: Lyria needs to have enough energy to be able to maintain multiple shadows or even the mass of just one shadow is limited on her skill at honing and harnessing their potential. So based upon Lyria's current health and magical reserves will determine how effective she is at maintaining her shadows.
Lineage: Malefic Illusions:
Description: There was once an ancient madman, said to have strong powers of illusion. Rumor has it he made a deal with the devil to give him eyes to allow him to harm people. Anyone who looked into his eyes would be trapped in his own twisted and malefic world, were they would be tortured by the most bizarre of creations. However, he used his eyes too much and ended up going blind the rest of his life. These eyes were said to be passed down to his numerous descendants, albeit many know nothing of such happenings in their ancestry.
Ability: User can trap foes in a murderous and twisted world to mentally cause damage to them.
Usage: The user locks eyes with his foe to trap them in a malefic world to be tortured by their malefic creations. The eyes last for 3 posts and can be used once in a thread. In order for the torture to be sustained, direct eye contact must be kept at all times. The victim receives a third of the user's rank damage per post.
Unique Abilities:
1. Life Force Drain/Re-gen: Passive-when Lyria uses her life-force shadow to a targets life-force shadow it passively drains the target of health slowly and restores it to Lyria up to 5% per turn. This ability only is in affect when Lyria uses Shadow Mationette, or uses her life-force shadow in Shadow Binding
2. Shadow Sensory: Passive/Active- Lyria is connected to the shadows, if there is a hidden opponent residing inside their darkened veil she can sense their presence. If she actively seeks the presence out with her life-force shadow she can pinpoint their exact location.
3. Shadow Cloaking: Passive-Whenever Lyria is fully immersed in shadow she becomes completely untraceable, and regains 2% MP per turn.
