Origins of the Tatari

History/Story

Warachia von Geitz was a prominent mage that dates back through the centuries, a former member of the Mages Council and one of the members who developed the Autonomous Chronic Time Tablet or ACTT for short which is a powerful magic device that allows prediction of an infinite number of futures depending on the choices each person makes without the intervention of the Celestial Spirit Realm. This also allows one to foresee an incoming battle, what moves an opponent would make, what scenarios can occur afterwards and the future for those who desire to see theirs.

Early Years of Life
Warachia belonged to a noble family of mages who specialized in magics that involved and abstract concept such as memory make, archive, time magic, image make and so on. Born with a great mind and a natural love for art and admired the beauty it brings. He was the sounding pride of the Geitz family, a line of mages that are affiliated with the council to which they have served for generations and wielded memory-make magic and Archive magic as his secondary. He rose to the high ranks and became one of the head administrators of the research department that deals with the invention of new magical devices that can be used as tools to further aid and benefit the council and its military strength.

The Invention of ACTT
Warachia along with others were the greatest minds during the old times and together they had come up with numerous ideas for magic weapons, including the net that disrupts the cast of spells of a holder type mage and so on. Of course as greater the tools were, it has its flaws and thus were exploited by dark mages who opposed the council. After numerous arguments between heads it has come to conclusion that the reason for some losses was not because of the magical tools and weapons invented but the strategies formulated as well as the fact that their dark foes can be quite unpredictable. However it has come to a decision that the council wishes to “Predict” their enemies’ movements as well as future engagements that may come at a later date. A few mages from the department of research were chosen in order to come up to the solution of the problem. Knowing that intervention with the celestial spirit realm would bring them consequences they had arrived to the alternative:  the The Eye of Laplace’s Demon which is an ancient artifact that was given to the ancients by an entity believed to have crossed between the borders of time and space and traversed through an infinite number of conclusions. Analysis show that the Eye’s power to make predictions is somewhat limited to the amount power it receives, the capacity to predict futures at a time is also limited due to having such a small vessel. It was then concluded that the Eye of Laplace Demon can be reforged into a more stable and powerful magical device that can perform as much as it usually can. The project ACTT became possible and thus the long awaited answer was soon realized. A magical device constructed in order to predict multiple futures at a time, the use of such device gave birth to what it is one of the most complicated forms of knowledge which is calculating a possible future.

The Revelation of the World of Magic
Knowledge for such calculation for the future strict requirements, for that one has to be a genius, along with Archive magic, Time magic and Memory Manipulation  were the core parts to activate and operate ACTT itself. There were 12 chamber members along with Warachia involved with the project and its teachings, and were all in charge of managing predictions of ACTT. There was one concern however as Warachia pointed out that if someone were to get a hold of Laplace Demon’s Eye, will have the power to twist and bend the laws of fate and not to mention that they would be someone who wouldn’t be apprehended easily and known how fragile the Eye can be if ever abused, consequences are unknown but were assumed to be dangerous. Noting such consequence, Warachia and the researchers isolated themselves from society locked in a private observatory and reserved only for the sake of protecting the magical device and continued on with their predictions. A few years passed since then, ACTT presented to the chamber members of a prediction, regardless of what course of actions humanity will make, it was revealed that one day, the world of magic would eventually decline, an age whereas magic itself is on the verge of depletion and when that happens marks the destruction of humanity itself. Though the cause may seem unknown, the results drove all the members in a state of panic and madness to which then they devoted their lives calculating a possible future that could erase the said result.

Unfortunately their calculations can never arrive to a desired result. There was no wrong in their formulas nor was there any right in the outcome either.

Curse of the Inversion
The results of the future changed after having the truth revealed to them, yet the conclusion would still remain the same but perhaps if an event were to the spark at that point in time there would at least be a change to it. Because they have been so busy formulating ways to solve the potential problem, in that period of time it left them vulnerable to an unexpected attack by one of the most dangerous sorceress alive and her objective was to get a hold of Laplace Demon’s Eye in order to weave the said fate.
She caught them by surprise that half of the chamber members were already down, bleeding on the floor. One by one the chamber members fall before the evil sorceress’s powers until only Warachia was left. It was a battle between memories and curses and when the Evil sorceress transformed into a vampiric entity, Warachia memorized every single detail how the magic was conjured with his memory-make.

Warachia’s style of battle brings irony to an opponent, using their own spells against them however as he memorized and conjure the spell itself, he had lost control almost immediately as he tried revoking the spell but to no avail. The sorceress’s transformation was no ordinary one, rather it was a kind of transformation spell that comes with a curse, for that mastery over such spell will forever taint the user’s mind with insanity and impulses similar to that of a vampire, a thirst for blood and in the process corrupted Warachia’s magic. While Warachia struggled for internal control, the sorceress then destroyed ACTT and reclaimed Laplace Demon’s Eye. However the said artifact shattered upon touch and thus the entire observatory was bathed in a kind of radiation that proved magical in nature which was not of this world. The power of Laplace Demon was everywhere, after having lost the vessel; Warachia made a last ditch effort and killed the witch, pushing them of from the center of destruction. It was a whirpool of unstable magic as a black sphere was materialized in its center, sucking Warachia in. All magic and residual traces of magic used were absorbed in the process, turning Warachia into something else. At that point he was no longer a human, a mage or even a beast… but something that couldn’t exist and can exist at the same time.


The Birth of the Tatari: The Phenomenon
When the Magic Council’s Military Corps came in, they were greeted with such a horrible sight, the observatory was no more and the bodies of the twelve members were all drained of blood. Warachia in his blood lust was found at the center of the accident and devoured a total of 48 men to be exact. Then he noticed that the sorceress he killed was wearing a research uniform’s attire and had the same title on her name tag like he was.

When he puzzled the pieces together he finally comes to an understanding that he has been sent into a reality whereas the Geitz family never existed and was brought here into this world by that accident. The researchers here have the same identities but different kinds of magic, as he read over the notes he concluded that they made an attempt to summon Laplace Demon and use its power for the Magic Council. He tried conjuring his own magic but to no avail… he couldn’t and had lost the ability to manifest the magic he once possessed. Another platoon of soldiers arrived only to witness what appears to be a slaughter made in such away that the researchers count as the “Hours” and the bodies of the first platoon members were “minutes” and at the center, the woman’s torso was separated from the legs pointing towards the first researcher, creating what appears to be a clock that tells “12 o.clock.”

Warachia’s existence was something that had bothered the Celestial Spirits as strange occurrences began to occur in all of Earthland. Superstitions such as “stepping on a crack” or “breaking a mirror” no longer became superstitions but a phenomenon. Even ill Omens that had said to bring storms suddenly realized the consequences of an actual storm coming even If there weren’t any conditions for a storm to occur, it just did. His existence keeps on flickering during the day and comes to a complete halt during the night, one day he began to realize the true reason why his magics had disappeared, they were all formed into a new kind of magic that involves bringing certain “beliefs” into reality which is known as Phenomena Magic, a kind of magic to which concept doesn’t belong to either good or evil rather exists to better fit the concept of man and their beliefs. On the thirteenth day of life in this new reality and on the night of the full moon, his body began to break up and disappear. His last moments of his life ended with his eyes open towards the moon and an inhuman grin formed on his face.

It was assumed that he would have died but instead turned into a Phenomenon himself and was later known as the Tatari. A living curse that travels through different regions of earthland, preferably in populated areas, realizing the most feared rumours of those who created it.


Epilogue
As the Tatari, Warachia can never come to make certain pacts with guilds since he no longer has a definite form, Tatari doesn’t even hold the concept of Warachia anymore however it was possible for the Tatari to make several manifestations of certain rumors to materialize into this world but only for a brief period of time and limited only during the night. Having been an existence that wasn’t supposed to be in this reality, he has been deemed and marked as a target for the celestial spirits. The reason for the apprehension of the Tatari was to prevent further damage to the present reality he exists in. Omens turning into phenomenons were that such as an example of damage. Unexplained accidents or events would eventually occur on a basis and the greatest fear they had was the collapse and the distortion of space in earthland, which could happen but the worst part of it is, they don’t know when. Not even those who had premonition magic can ever predict when space will start to distort. Another reason for it was that Warachia was a vessel for Laplace Demon’s Eye, having the ability to jump and realize fated predicaments as well as avoiding them is something that earned a bounty on his head.

The Tatari can materialize up to 1800 possible forms of personified rumors and only 12 manifestations may embody the functions of the Tatari. However, having the Tatari during the daytime is a rare occurrence, it could indicate that the concept of Warachia may be present in the area or that there’s an intervention with celestial spirits in an area where the Tatari could occur.

The sun sets indicating the departure of day and the opening ceremony of the night. The moon shines down on the center stage; the winds were as black as the cloudless skies carrying tales of events that transpired throughout the lands. Magic as said comes in all kinds of forms, even beliefs can be considered a kind magic or more likely a catalyst. Usually a mage’s body is the said catalyst of magic as well as the heart but human beliefs can only be a catalyst to one certain type of magic and that is Phenomena magic. A small town believed that the time of three in the morning was the worst time to be awake for that it was the said time when the devil comes out and play whoever is still awake.

And so it begins a said omen turns into a phenomenon.

Three companions dance around in a campfire, juvenile and daring to ever so meet the devil itself in order to prove the Omen wasn’t real. As the hour finally came, they were met with a figure in the dark, a silhouette of a man in robes that wore an inhuman grin that flashed crimson red. When the dawn breaks, the townsfolk came to find the three juveniles only to be greeted by the scent of crimson air.
