Unlimited Fear Magic
Primary Magic: Unlimited Fear
Secondary Magic: N/A
Caster or Holder: Caster
Description:
Unlimited Fear is a type of dark magic that was forbidden centuries ago due to the self-destructive methods of casting the magic, as well as the psychological effect it can have on those who fall victim to it. It essentially grants the user the ability to turn fears to reality, such as summoning forth images of the grim reaper or even simpler effects like causing the opponent to hear or see their fears seemingly brought to life before them via more illusionary spells.
Lysander has developed this magic so that it is specifically proficient against those who are lower and weaker than he is - which is to say, almost everyone in his view. He can summon full apparitions or simply satanic or gothic tools of mutilation so as to psychological destroy his victims as well as physically maim them.
Strengths:
- As a magic of the dark element, Unlimited Fear magic has a 50% resistance to other dark based magics.
- Unlimited Fear magic deals 50% extra damage to Holy based magic users.
- Lysander is able to increase the strength of his spells simply by spilling a portion of his own blood. This also ads a psychological effect to his spells. Afterall, what's scarier than seeing someone get stronger the more they get hurt?
Weaknesses:
- Holy magics deal 50% extra damage to Lysander.
- Many of Lysander's spells involve using a portion of his blood to deal more damage. This will result in his HP dropping very quickly.
- Some of Lysander's spells require other spells or prerequisites before they can be used.
- Many of Lysander's spells will not work on opponents of higher rank than himself.
Lineage:
Unique Abilities:
Blood for Blood - For every 30% HP that Lysander loses, his Attack output is increased by 50%. This effect lasts for four posts and stacks, and is affected by the HP lost through his own spells.
Adversity - For every 25% HP that Lysander loses his Defences are increased by 50%. This effect lasts for three posts and stacks, and is affected by the HP lost through his own spells.
Darkness Resistance - Due to utilising powerful dark magic Lysander is granted a 50% resistance to other Dark-based magics.

[spoiler=Spells]
- Signature Spell - Soul Tag:
Name: Soul Tag
Rank: B
Type: Single Target Tag
Duration: Perma-debuff
Cooldown: 1 post
Description: Lysander imbues his next physical attack with a special type of darkness magic that links the target to him. This link or 'tag' grants him certain abilities when applied with certain spells, and also flashes images of the target's ultimate fears into their mind. The target will also suffer from 1% HP loss every 4 posts and their speed and offence is reduced by 5% as the fear sets. Soul Tag effects are increased by 1% for each successful strike as their fears start to grow more and more lifelike. Upon 5 stacks the target will begin to see their fears as hallucinations in front of them.
"So THAT'S what makes you tick..."
Strengths:
- Tagged souls are dealt a minimum of 1% HP damage every four posts.
- Reduced speed and offence greatly reduces the opponents offensive presence.
- Striking the same opponent regularly will increase the effects of Soul Tag and deal significant psychological damage.
Weaknesses:
- Opponents of higher rank than Lysander cannot be tagged.
- Soul Tag is a prerequisite for a few of Lysander's spells, and so it is almost a necessity to ensure he hits with this spell to greatly expand his arsenal.
- The initial effects of Soul Tag are rather weak.
- Soul Tag requires Lysander to strike the opponent physically in order to affect them.
- D Rank:
- Seep:
Name: Seep
Rank: D
Type: Support
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: 3 posts
Description: Lysander seemingly sinks through the ground, becoming a simple round shadow on the ground. He is able to move up to 10 meters in this form at a speed of 5 meters per second, as well as hide perfectly within other shadows before he reappears.
"Oops...missed me!"
Strengths:
- Disappearing suddenly can allow Lysander to dodge incoming attacks with ease.
- Lysander can travel a fair distance across the ground at a respectable speed.
- Lysander can hide within other shadows and travel freely through them while in shadow form.
Weaknesses:
- Light based spells deal double damage while he is in shadow form and force him to return to his normal form.
- Dark based magics can still hit Lysander while he is in shadow form.
- Lysander cannot attack while in shadow form.
- Lysander cannot reappear from directly beneath another person.
- Lysander cannot pass through solid objects such as walls while in shadow form.
- Growing Dread:
Name: Growing Dread
Rank: D
Type: Support
Duration: 3
Cooldown: 4
Description: A black magic circle appears beneath Lysander, draining 10% of his HP before it engulfs his body in a violet aura. While this aura is in effect his physical attacks are increased by 50% and his speed is increased by 25% for three posts.
"Fear is ever-growing."
Strengths:
- Grants Lysander a 50% boost in attack.
- Lysander is granted a 25% boost in speed.
- Casting Growing Dread puts Lysander closer to the passive strength and durability boosts of Adversity and Blood for Blood.
Weaknesses:
- The spell requires a 10% HP payment to cast.
- Lysander's is granted no defensive enhancements.
- Cannot be used if Lysander's HP is below 15%
- Unlike Impending Gloom, Lysander cannot cast this upon any allies.
- Impending Gloom:
Name: Impending Gloom
Rank: D
Type: Support
Duration: 3
Cooldown: 4
Description: Lysander pays 10% of his HP and projects his inner darkness into the world before him, turning the skies to black and creating a purple haze within a 50m circumference. All dark based magic damage used within this area is boosted by 100%. This does not affect dark based weapons, armours or items.
"There is no light to see beyond the blackest skyline."
Strengths:
- All dark-based magics are boosted dramatically while Impending Gloom is in effect.
- The area of effect is rather large, reducing the chance of Lysander being removed from it.
- As Lysander himself is a wielder of dark magic, Impending Gloom boosts his own magic as well.
Weaknesses:
- Lysander's own equipment does not receive the boost from Gloom.
- Lysander must pay 10% of his HP to cast this spell.
- Dark-based slayer mages can inhale the darkness and end the spell and its effects.
- Dark based attacks of all enemies are boosted as well as allies, causing problems should Gloom be cast in a huge fight where some allies are not boosted.
- Feed on Fear:
Name: Feed on Fear
Rank: D
Type: Support
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: 4 posts
Description: Lysander absorbs the magical energy of a spell that is used on him for a single post by any attackers afflicted with 'Soul Tag' status, regenerating HP equal to the damage that spell would have dealt to him, or double if the spell was dark-based.
"Scared? Oh dear...I've not even gotten started yet."
Strengths:
- Feed on Fear gives Lysander a useful tool to regenerate the HP he consumes by casting his spells.
- Lysander takes no damage from the spell he consumes.
- If Lysander consumes a dark-based spell then the HP regeneration is doubled.
Weaknesses:
- Holy and Light magics cannot be consumed regardless of the Soul Tag.
- Lysander can only regenerate HP from attacks by tagged souls, and only those of his own rank or below.
- Feed on Fear does not deal any damage to the opponent if they strike Lysander.
- Feed on Fear does not allow Lysander to regenerate MP.
- C Rank:
- Out of Nowhere:
Name:Out of Nowhere
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: N/A (Can only be used after Seep)
Description:
Lysander re-appears from out of Seep and deals a precision strike on the opponent. The wound is filled by a black aura that inflicts D-rank damage every post for 3 posts. This spell also activates/stacks the effects of Soul Tag. Furthermore, Lysander can increase the damage of the initial strike to C-rank damage by paying 5% HP.
"Surprise."
Strengths:
- Out of Nowhere deals D-rank damage every post for three posts.
- Out of Nowhere combos from Seep, making it difficult to dodge or predict.
- The strike activates the effects of Soul Tag, tagging the target's soul and afflicting them with the secondary effects (this stacks in the same manner as Soul Tag).
Weaknesses:
- Out of Nowhere can only be used immediately after Seep.
- The initial strike only deals D-rank damage, which is underwhelming compared to most C-rank spells.
- Lysander can only increase the initial damage output of Out of Nowhere by paying 5% HP
- This spell will not affect dark-based slayer mages.
- Insatiable Hunger:
Name: Insatiable Hunger
Rank: C
Type: Support
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: 4 posts
Description: Lysander's body is covered in a purple aura while the bodies of everyone afflicted with the effets of Soul Tag are surrounded by a blood-red aura. Each tagged soul loses 5% of their HP. Lysander then regenerates HP equal to the amount of HP drain from the corrupted souls.
"Ahhh...that's better."
Strengths:
- Insatiable Hunger is a great way for Lysander to keep his HP up after casting powerful blood payment spells.
- The more souls that are tagged, the more HP Lysander can regenerate.
- Tagged souls are unable to evade this spell.
Weaknesses:
- Insatiable Hunger does not regenerate MP.
- If there are a low amount of souls tagged then the regenerated amount of HP will be rather low.
- Lysander cannot cast this spell on non-corrupted opponents.
- The HP drained from weaker opponents will be a smaller portion in comparison to Lysander's own HP (5% D-rank HP = 1% Lysander's HP).
- This spell can only be cast on opponents of equal or lower rank to Lysander. Mages of B-rank will only lose 2.5% of their HP while A-ranks and above are unaffected.
- Crescent Moon:
Name: Crescent Moon
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: 4 posts
Description:
Lysander places his hand out in front of him and creates an arc of black magic. He then releases that magic in a cone before him that reaches a maximum distance of 10 meters and spreads for a maximum width of 10 meters, traveling at 5 meters per second. Anyone struck by Crescent Moon is dealt C-rank damage and is afflicted with the effects of Soul Tag.
"Even the moon can be terrifying in the right light."
Strengths:
- While the range of Crescent Moon isn't large, the maximum width of the spell can easily strike multiple opponents at once.
- It is not initially clear what the spell is going to do, thus it holds somewhat of a surprise element.
- Crescent Moon can afflict the effects of Soul Tag.
Weaknesses:
- Crescent Moon's speed of travel is somewhat slower than most other spells, making it fairly easy to dodge if the opponent is far enough away.
- Cresent Moon travels in a cone in front of Lysander, thus he is susceptible to attacks from any other direction.
- Crescent Moon's range is actually quite short, so is best in close range combat.
- Crescent Moon is more useful against multiple opponents due to its width. It is almost a wasted spell if used on a single target.
- B Rank:
- Minus Strike:
Name: Minus Strike
Rank: B
Type: Offence
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: Can only be used once per thread.
Description:
Lysander's body is covered in a fine blood-red aura as he performs a powerful slash on the opponent. The aura then transfers to the target, causing their HP to drop substantially so that it is equal or at least closer to Lysander's remaining HP.
NOTE: At lower rank the opponent will take damage that will pull them down to Lysander's health regardless of the amount of health they would lose as a result. Equal ranked opponents will lose a maximum of 50% health. Opponents of higher ranks will lose a maximum of 30%, with the damage decreased by a further 10% for each rank higher they are compared to Lysander.
"Does it hurt? You tell me."
Strengths:
- Minus Strike can take an opponent from healthy to very weak in just one strike, making it an incredible game-changer.
- Minus Strike ignores any defensive buffs on the opponent.
- Minus Strike can be used on any opponents regardless of whether they are tagged or not.
Weaknesses:
- This attack will not take the opponent's HP below Lysander's HP.
- This attack cannot be used when Lysander is at 100% HP
- Attack buffs upon Lysander are ignored.
- Any defensive debuffs that the opponent is afflicted with are ignored.
- Lysander must get close to the opponent to strike them with this spell, thus risking being defeated should he be on low HP and be struck before he can hit them.
- Black Winds of the Reaper:
Name: Black Winds of the Reaper
Rank: B
Type: Offence
Duration: 3 posts
Cooldown: 5 posts
Description:
Lysander summons forth a mass of black magic which he hurls at a target. The mass sticks to the target and brings forth Reaper which begins to spin at high speed around the target, slashing at them and dealing C-rank damage every post for 3 posts. Anyone within a meter of the target is also afflicted. Anyone struck by Reaper is afflicted with Soul Tag.
"Death approaches..."
Strengths:
- Black Winds can afflict multiple opponents with Soul Tag if they approach the person who is targetted by the spell.
- If the target is already Soul Tagged then they cannot evade or block this spell, as Reaper will spawn directly above them and stick to them immediately.
- Black Winds deals a total of 1.5x B-rank damage over the duration of this spell
Weaknesses:
- If the opponent finds a way to escape Black Winds then they can reduce the overall damage of the spell, potentially making it weaker than other B-rank spells.
- Non Soul Tagged targets can either evade or block Black Winds with a defensive spell of equal rank.
- Apart from when the spell is first cast on a target, Black Winds is visible on them for the duration and so it is unlikely to hit other opponents unless it hits them in the first post.
- Black Winds does not distinguish between friend or foe; if you get too close, you're gonna get hurt.
- See You in Hell:
Name: See You in Hell
Rank: B
Type: Offence
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: Once Per Thread
Description:
This spell is only useable when Lysander's HP is 0 and if there is sufficient MP remaining. Upon his defeat, a powerful shot of intangible dark magic is released which travels up to 100 meters at a speed of 50m per second and deals damage equal to 50% of Lysander's maximum HP upon the opponent that struck the final blow. All buffs and debuffs on both Lysander and the opponent are completely ignored. If the target has been afflicted with Soul Tag then the spell cannot be blocked or avoided as it homes in on the tag.
"See you in Hell."
Strengths:
- Lysander is capable of dealing a huge amount of damage to an opponent as he is KO'd.
- All buffs and debuffs on the opponent are ignored if they are lower ranked and/or soul tagged.
- This spell is unavoidable by a tagged soul regardless of range due to the tag on their soul.
Weaknesses:
- This spell will not activate if Lysander's MP is not sufficient.
- This spell can only be used when Lysander is defeated, and so he cannot attack the opponent afterwards.
- All buffs on Lysander prior to his defeat are null and void.
- Non-tagged souls can avoid this spell by using a defensive spell of equal rank.
- Non-tagged souls buffs remain if the target is equal or higher rank.
- A Dose of Fear:
- Name: A Dose of Fear
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: 5 posts
Description:
Lysander creates an orb of purple magic in his right hand and launches it at a single target at a speed of 30 meters per second for up to 40 meters (it disperses harmlessly beyond that). Upon striking the target the spell will not only smack them hard for B-rank damage, but will seep into them and inflict or stack Soul Tag as well as cause them to begin hallucinating, developing a feeling of dread in the pit of their stomach.
"You can feel that, can't you?"
Strengths:
- A Dose of Fear inflicts or stacks the effects of Soul Tag.
- This spell can combo with Overdose of Dread to inflict massive damage on the initial target of this spell.
- A Dose of Fear travels at surprising speed, making it difficult to dodge.
- A Dose of Fear cannot be dodged by those afflicted with Soul Tag (it CAN be blocked).
Weaknesses:
- A Dose of Fear is single target, thus is almost useless against huge groups. ALMOST.
- Dark based Slayers can consume this spell, negating it.
- If the target is not Soul Tagged then they can dodge the Dose.
- Mages of higher rank than this spell will not develop the feeling of dread in their stomach.
- As the effects of this spell are not necessarily physical, it is not nearly as demoralising to watch as some of Lysander's other spells.
- Overdose of Dread:
Name: Overdose of Dread
Rank: B
Type: AoE Offensive
Duration: Instant
Cooldown: 6 posts
Description:
Lysander places both hands down to his right side before launching a huge orb of purple coloured dark magic at a target. Upon striking the target the spell will explode, dealing B rank damage to that target and splashing the magic out in a 10 meter circle around them. Anyone within that range is hit for C-rank damage. Everyone struck by this spell is afflicted with Soul Tag. If the struck target was hit with A Dose of Fear within 2 posts prior to casting this spell then they will become filled with sheer terror, becoming immobilized or simply go crazy and incoherent, refusing to go near Lysander for a single post due to the visions being put into their head or the hallucinations they see before them.
"If only there was somewhere you could hide."
Strengths:
- When combined with A Dose of Fear the effects of this spell are increased.
- Overdose of Dread can strike multiple targets if they are caught within the splash zone, afflicting them all with Soul Tag
- Should this spell cause a target to become terrified, the effects to the morale of all other enemies is highly likely to be affected.
- This spell is one of Lysander's most versatile spells as it is useful in both 1on1 and multi-target situations.
Weaknesses:
- Much like A Dose of Fear, Overdose of Dread can be consumed by dark based Slayer mages.
- Mages of higher rank will not be affected by the initial feeling of dread from A Dose of Fear, so they will not be immobilized or otherwise affected by further fear from this spell.
- The effects of this spell are not nearly as good without the boost from A Dose of Fear.
- As this spell requires both hands to cast, Lysander CANNOT wield any weaponry or cast another spell simultaneously.
- Allies can be caught in this spell's splash zone just as much as enemies can.
- Soul Chain:
Name: Soul Chain
Rank: B
Type: Support
Duration: 3 posts
Cooldown: 6 posts
Description:
Lysander snaps his fingers, creating a crimson red spark to emit above them and immediately losing HP equal to the MP cost needed to cast the spell. At that same moment, all those afflicted with Soul Tag are linked by an unbreakable crimson red chain. Each time one of them takes damage, the chain glows and all those attached to the chain take 50% of the initial damage dealt to that target.
"You wish to stick together? Fine by me."
Strengths:
- So long as the targets are chained they will all take damage together.
- If an AoE spell strikes two chained opponents at once then they will take the initial damage, plus 50% more.
- As the chain is intangible it cannot simply be broken.
Weaknesses:
- Not afflicted by Soul Tag? You're safe.
- The chain completely shatters if even a single target hits 0 HP
- As soon as the chain is formed, all secondary effects of Soul Tag are voided, simply becoming a tag until the chain is destroyed or dispelled.
- Once the spell ends, all tagged souls are completely freed from Soul Tag and must be re-tagged.
- This spell requires Lysander to pay a portion of his HP to cast.
- Soul Tagged opponents of higher rank will not be chained.
