NOTE: This character is meant to replace my former character, Alexei Sarona.
Name: Kyro Erebus
Gender: Male
Age: 21 years of life, 400 years of undeath.
Birthday: May 23rd
Sexuality: Bisexual
Special Characteristics: A tattoo of a skull on his back that radiates necromantic power, the source of his reanimation. Despite looking as though he would collapse at any moment, he has above average strength and stamina; he also has no need for food and drink, although he still needs sleep to recharge the necromantic seal.
Personality: Kyro is a natural-born pessimist, and it has only grown worse in undeath. He automatically assumes the worst about most situations; while it has saved him numerous times, it also makes it very difficult for Kyro to connect with people. Of course, his zombie-ness certainly doesn’t help make friends either. For Kyro, however, solitude is relaxing; having spent decades trapped alone in a coffin and further decades wandering aimlessly after that, he developed rather severe agoraphobia, so he tries to be alone or with a small group at most when he can. Also due to this fear, he avoids cities whenever he can; when he absolutely must enter one, he sticks almost entirely to the back alleys, staying away from people as much as he can.
Aside from this phobia, however, Kyro is a gruff, fairly intelligent, implacable individual. He has a talent for seeing people’s true sides, potential in particular; in his four centuries of unlife, he has taken a liking to passing down his knowledge of battle strategies, all kinds of weaponry, and life in general to those who are willing to receive it. While he won’t be curing diseases any time soon, he has worldly knowledge that surpasses most people and catches on to things quickly. He is not unkind, but his rough nature can certainly make it seem so; he never ‘softens the blow’, so to speak, telling people exactly what it is he sees. Many an apprentice has broken off their training with Kyro because he kept telling them how terrible they were at their practice.
Kyro doesn’t think much about the fact that he’s technically a zombie. He’s still capable of doing just about everything he could in life, so there’s no reason to make such a huge deal out of it. The seal unnerves nearby animals as well, allowing him to enjoy silence. He is curious, however, about how the seal got there. He never had the tattoo in life, so it must have been put on him after death; he also knows nobody who would have the power to make a seal like the one he has. His travels are loosely aimed at finding the being who reanimated him, although he makes many detours.
In combat, Kyro is a solemn and focused person. He almost never talks, considering it a waste of air and energy, and does his best to ignore his opponent’s speech. Kyro firmly believes that living things can learn more from one another through combat than by any words or writing; it connects them on a more primal level, one that cannot be falsified or burned. As such, when he wants to know something about a person, whether that be their skill, their emotions, or even their ideals, he challenges them to a match. Kyro’s fighting style is a wonder to behold; his unique weapon makes his style unusual already, but 400 years of honing his practice has made the style flawless. Kyro isn’t above using dirty tricks if he thinks he will lose a fight, but he won’t kick an opponent while they’re down; he has some honor. He also enjoys fighting a person more than once and observing their growth; as a result, he dislikes killing opponents, although he knows it is sometimes unavoidable.
Likes:
- Solitude. Kyro enjoys the silence and alone time solitude brings him, allowing him to plan out his next move and relax.
- Teaching. Kyro enjoys passing on his knowledge to others, especially when they have the potential to overtake Kyro himself.
- Fighting. Kyro enjoys battling tremendously, as it is both his hobby and his preferred way of getting to know people.
Dislikes:
- Persistent weaklings. Kyro dislikes it when somebody who obviously has no aptitude for a particular task continues to pursue that task; he considers it a horrific waste.
- Waiting. Kyro enjoys a rest every now and then, but he does it on his own terms. When he’s made to stay in one place so others can keep up, he gets irritated.
- Doing things for free. While Kyro is glad to help somebody in need, he doesn’t do it out of the kindness of his heart. He expects a reward, whether it be monetary or otherwise.
Motivations:
- Finding his reanimator. Kyro wants to find out who resurrected him, if only to ask why.
- Having a student surpass him. Kyro wants to see one of his mentees become stronger than him, so he can rest easy.
- Constant combat. Kyro dreams of having an eternity to fight, to hone his craft and not have to worry about the fine details.
Fears:
- Eternity without purpose. Kyro fears never finding his reanimator, thus never finding the purpose for his current existence.
- Peace. Kyro fears the world finding peace, as once it does his entire life will have become null and void.
- (Re)Death. Kyro fears dying once again, before finding out what his reason for being is.
