Ahoy Challenger! (Rita V.S Seitenshi)

“Mystery Mage, Accepting Challengers” the bold red print stretched across the pages plastering the buildings of Magnolia, Clover, Crocus, Oak, Lamia; The flyers practically covered the job boards of the bigger guilds, Lamia Scale, Blue Pegasus, Cor Draco, Eclipse Soul, and any other guilds capable of a good fight… The pages only provided a silhouette of the mage, and a brief message for those who’s attention it caught:

“Challengers, I’m not looking for small fry.  Supply a good fight… and don’t be afraid of a little blood... Remember, the loser forfeits 3k jewel.  Find me tonight. The gates are open; I’ll be at the Magnolia Arena by night fall.  -R.S”

Evidently, The night did come. Light faded from the sky, swallowed up by the night.

The stadium was almost completely devoid of life, almost. A silhouette stood in its center with their back seemingly to be turned to the competitor.  Her frame was back lit by the scattered arena spotlights. The light lacrimas inside the spotlights could have been centuries old. Without a doubt, they needed replacement. The illumination only managed to light every other place with its bright white light, leaving the arena a mess of black and white spots, flickering periodically.

Even with the sound of her challenger pacing their way into the arena, the shadow didn’t move.  The lights gave another quick flicker and she remained still.  Her long skirt and stream of hair, (pulled back in a low tail as usual), only wavered slightly when a gust of night air slipped into the arena… The scene could have been something taken out of a horror film, the ones that had spooked the girl so much as a kid.

"3K jewels, huh?" A voice remarked, surprise on its face as it never expected a fighting arena to even exist with bets on the line. This sounded more like underground fighting than anything. Albeit, the voice did not mind. This almost seemed like a mission, with the words of what seemed to be a cocky one pasted boldly on the pages, signed only with the initials "R.S" Was this supposed to be some sort of threat? The holder of this voice had almost been defeated before, but never had he spilled too much blood on any occasion. Heck, it made the voice laugh to hear the words "don't be afraid of a little blood" written on the note.

The voice that spoke belonged to a young man named Seitenshi Ayato. There were numerous pages like this across Clover Town, for some reason, which made the male wonder if this was indeed a job. Ayato felt like he needed to be put to work recently; like he needed something to do! Unfortunately, he could not see the opportunities- not to this day, that is. Once he came across this note, a whole new story unfolded. "Might as well take it..." Ayato thought aloud, the note snatched while Ayato planned to reach whomever wrote this request. It was quite intimidating, Ayato had to admit, though he was not scared in the slightest. Even if it were his own Guild Master, Ayato learned never to be scared. Sure, fear was alright as it identifies your weaknesses, but you can never accept fear too much. Doing that often led to defeat.

Ayato ordered some transportation from a business nearby. It did not take long before a horse and small carriage appeared, which Ayato happily took to get to this Magnolia Arena. If Ayato was not mistaken, Magnolia Town was home to the guild known as Fairy Tail: an ancient guild that was never to be underestimated. Ayato could not recall a time in which he met someone from the guild, though he could always be proven wrong. Albeit, it did not matter at the moment. All that mattered was this page held in Ayato's hand, and the purpose behind it. It was still the afternoon when Ayato first stepped foot upon the carriage, though by the time he came across Magnolia, the sun was already setting. Boy, did time ever pass swiftly nowadays. Ayato sighed, though he smirked lightly afterwards. For some reason, he felt as though this new experience would be very exciting; that something worthwhile would come from it- something Ayato would never forget.

"So it was you who wrote this?" Ayato commented, the sheet dropped while the breeze grabbed it, and let it soar gracefully in the sky. You must be joking if you ever thought Ayato was actually a man to litter. His eyes darted forward to come in contact with a young lady from a distance. His voice was very well loud enough to reach this person, though he had no idea who she was. Not only that, but Ayato had no idea where the hell he was. He could not remember another time when he had been in Magnolia other than this. He always felt sad when he came across something he did not know, thinking that the curse he had a long time ago could have been responsible. Ayato discarded the thought, and focused on the matter at hand. "Seitenshi Ayato from Blue Pegasus..." Ayato added,

"Fired up, ain't cha?"

She half turned to get a glance at her competitor, light bleeding across her face slightly, outlining and revealing a few of her features. Although, It was still dark and she assumed he could not see in this kind of lighting like she could.  To Seitenshi, Her image was still not completely clear.

Rita had a rather petite build and was not all that tall in the first place, standing at an intimidating height of five one.  The shorty was laughed at and belittled for her size by her guild mates constantly, but she bet that they didn't expect to be thrown across the floor.

But as of late, Rita hadn’t been so tough… She was always taking a beating from someone bigger than her.  If it weren’t for Daiko she would have been a spider chow and thanks to Heero, Rita wasn’t electrocuted to death by Chapel either. Long story short, Rita was done with the damsel in distress crap, she wanted to fight her own battles.

Her lips played a smirk at his comment. “Just a bit, and you?” she asked, her voice drifting across the arena as she put her fist against palm, cracking her bandage clad knuckles. Rita hadn’t had a spar without trying to kill anyone in ages…It  had been ages since she had a spar in general.  Ren, who she had fought after making it out of Era, had ended up in Lamia scale. While Matabei, The Ink mage of Savage Skull, hadn't been seen since.

Rita gazed in her opponents direction for a long moment, sapphire irises piercing the darkness. This battle was going to be different. It had been two years since her D-Rank days, Rita could do more then hit a few things now…

"More than you can imagine..." Ayato replied. His sword was unsheathed, and his book unraveled from his jacket. The fight had truly begun. There was no turning back now, though Ayato wondered something. Why fight at a time so dark? Did the girl intentionally plan to fight at this time of day- or what should be known as, night? Ayato sensed a great presence of magic in the female, though she was still mostly hidden in the darkness. Another thought he pondered was if the female was from Fairy Tail or not. He could only predict the origin of his opponent.

While his foe probably expected him to do something just such a commencing charge in this brawl, Ayato did absolutely nothing other than the previous withdrawal of book and sword. Ultimately, he had prepared himself for the usage of his magic, but nothing more. A smirk laid rested on his face, however. Would he dare use that again in his fight? How much power would he have to use? How much damage was he going to suffer. Oh, how this all excited the young man; the feeling generally telling him that he had nothing to lose. That the only thing Ayato could possibly attain was victory. A soothing wind passed gloriously through the battlefield while the storyteller remained firmly upright and silent in his position. He was going to give his all in this fight, no matter what. For some reason, he just felt he had to. Though for another reason, he desired a moment like this. Neither sensations could be explained.

A gently breeze swept through the stadium signaling the beginning of their match. There was a flicker as the arena went completely black for a moment. However, when a few of the lights turned back on the mages silhouette was no where in sight. Dust had been kicked up around the area she was once standing, picked up by the surrounding lights. This meant one thing: when Rita moved, it was with extreme speed.

 Rita however, had not vanished she had merely moved closer and the Blue Pegasus mage would of likely of been alarmed by the sudden magic energy being him. A smirk sparked upon her face in that split second, and time seemed to slow down that moment as she planned her strike. Rita shifted her hips and she planted her left leg towards the direction she was kicking, Seitenshi, making sure to bend it slightly. She stood on the ball of her left foot ensuring that she got the best pivoting force out of her kick. effortlessly, she bent and directed her right knee forward while pivoting to her left smoothly. Spinning a circular motion on her leg, she kept her knee straight with her shoulders as her swing came for him. It was then that the time seemed to speed back up, when The Fairy flipped on her left leg, releasing her right leg from her knee.If successful, Her roundhouse would strike with more than enough force to knock Seitenshi into the dirt.

Buffs: Boots of Halosis. Rita can move with speeds as fast as 75 MPH and her kicks are charged to deal damage one rank above her.

The soothing wind suddenly launched itself in Ayato's direction, given the assumption that someone or something had just hurled itself towards him. It was a fair assumption, anyway. How could a soothing wind bend so suddenly? And not just slightly, but like an arrow directed towards a single person: the Blue Pegasus Mage. Ayato took an immediate action towards the sudden bending of this wind and lunged his sword forward quickly and instantly in accordance with a split-second white circle over his book, fireballs immediately fired from this very sword, and launched in a perfect alignment against the bent, soothing wind that was currently headed his way. The fireballs travelled at an extreme speed, a full force, instantaneous casting with a speed of fifty miles per hour. Even if the daring wind ran towards Ayato at a greater speed, according to elemental affinities, fire could run through it at ease; as if the wind particularly was a joke.

The fireballs also acted as a defensive wall, despite being an offensive spell, realistically. The sudden redirection of this wind must have been due to the movement of someone or something. It had to be. No sudden force could make a sign of wind move so dramatically except for the presence of either the identical element or another. Fire had enough power to penetrate the walls wind provided, and therefore deflect their power. This wind was natural, and so it was no competition for Ayato's magically enhanced fire, anyway. Whatever had dared to move Ayato's way- whether it was the wind or something else responsible- was going to suffer a great catastrophe of flames. However, they would be lucky enough to only suffer two, at most; the other forty-eight were just illusions. They were a scare. The wind moved so violently, it disappointed Ayato. Perhaps this was why he decided to act this way; to launch these fireballs without a second to lose. Perhaps he was surprised. Albeit, what was done was done; there was no redoing the action.
