Vierorins Secondary Magic Training(Private, Inspirational Quote and Vierorin)

Vierorin stood there in the middle of a flat area, the ground was hotter than normal, not surprising considering this area was famous for its active Volcano’s, but it didn’t bother him in the slightest. He was wearing blue jeans, bare foot and with no shirt on. He had been spending the past few hours practicing his magic here in the area where fire was the norm. However for the igneous rock of which he was standing on, his magic was still taking a toll on the natural environment, molten lines, pits, and craters littered the area, all from the spells he had been practicing.

He was trying to understand his magic more, that much was certain, but more so he was waiting on someone to arrive, someone he had heard of, and after thinking of a unique magic he wanted to try and learn, found out he could be the best person to ask. Ni-ju Haichi, a mage from Lamia Scale who specialized in remote Elemental detonations. Vierorin stood there in a combat stance catching his breath, the young fire mage with a fierce look of determination in his eyes as he targeted a boulder the size of a small magicmobile, He then extend out his right hand palm out as Azure flames moved down his arm and to the palm of his hand, “Azure Flame Stream!” A beam of concentrated azure flames shot from his hand and hit the boulder directly at its center, making it start to glow red hot for a second before completely boring through the boulder, which then promptly started to liquefy.

Ni-Ju gave a sharp tug on the reins as the high flying pair passed over the volcano that would serve as training grounds for the young man who had called upon his services. A strange feeling of vertigo dominated his stomach, similar to how he felt on every landing with his giant feathered companion but bolstered by the nervousness of this being his first attempt at mentoring a fellow mage in the finer points of how to use destructive elemental magic. Spotting the white hot form of a melted boulder below, Ni-Ju knew that he had arrived at the location that had been agreed upon and signaled for Sim to make a "gentle" landing nearby. Shading his eyes from the inevitable dust storm that always accompanied such landings, Ni-Ju began to review his teaching plan. Control was almost always the hardest part to magic like his own and would serve as a good starting focal point. Once he had a better grasp of how Vierorin's magic worked he would adjust as necessary from there. Unhooking and dropping the rope that served as his only safe way of dismounting, Ni-Ju shimmied down to the rocky ground below just as Sim set down. Giving the signal for his companion to go ahead and hunt nearby, Ni-Ju pulled his pack up higher onto his shoulders and went to meet his very first student. Bowing in greeting to the young man after first closing the gap between them, NI-Ju introduced himself. "Very nice to meet you, Vierorin. As you have probably already guessed I am Ni-Ju Hachi of Lamia Scale." Extending his right hand to shake as he did so, Ni-Ju continued on "Before we begin with what I have in mind I think it would be quite a bit better for the both of us if you were to explain what you know of the magic we will be working with.".

Vierorin Covered his eyes when a sudden gust of wind ripped across the area, he looked up and saw a giant bird landing with a small man climbing down, Vierorin lowered his arms as he started to try and study this newcomer, when a short young girl stood up from behind a rock, the area surrounding which was untouched by Vierorin’s practicing, She was wearing a white robe that was covering entire body. “It seems the man you requested to meet you here has arrived Viery,” She twirled a strand of her red hair as she said this. Vierorin turned to the young girl, his expression softening, “Perhaps Oriasa, Sorry if I disturbed you during your training,” Oriasa shook her head, “Not at all Viery, you got this nice coat that wards off any heat, so I am all nice and cozy even next to your Titan’s Fire.” She had said this with a smile, Vierorin’s expression however darkened at the words she had used, at which she placed her hand under his chin and lifted his face up, “Denying his existence or what your flames are won’t help either of you Viery, He needs to get to know you and you him for Friry Can find peace of mind,” Vierorin slowly nodded and then turned to meet his guest.

Oriasa and Vierorin bowed in response to Ni-ju’s greeting, “I am Vierorin Gorak, and this is Oriasa...” Vierorin paused for a moment and looked down, “As for your answer… I think you will need to talk with our third “companion” the likes of which You will need Oriasa’s help to talk with… when you are ready… take hold of Oriasa’s hand.” At this Oriasa nodded and extended her right hand out towards Ni-ju while placing her left hand on Vierorin’s forehead, “You Needn’t be afraid Viery, we will be safe.”

Ni-Ju waited patiently as Vierorin and Oriasa gave their greetings and explained what would be necessary to learn more about the magic he was attempting to help train. He wasn't exactly sure who this"Third" person was that was going to help unravel the mysteries of Vierorin's magic but some form of magical travel was involved, which caused Ni-Ju to have just a few misgivings about the whole enterprise. After all, almost every time that he had been transported to a place by uncommon means, something out of the ordinary had come forth to make him wish he had bothered to think it through first. It probably didn't help things much that he was always rushing into any situation that gave him an opportunity to explore new surroundings but that was something that he just couldn't help, exploration was just in his blood after all. Sighing quietly to himself, Ni-Ju realized that he was overthinking things once again. Even if he had just met Vierorin and his companion, they seemed like trustworthy enough people and the likelihood that they had went through all this trouble just to mess with him was practically nonexistent. With his doubts quickly fading, Ni-Ju decided to throw the dice, so to speak, and see what it was that his young student thought was needed to carry on with the training at hand, no reward without equal risk taken after all. Taking a step closer to the pair, Ni-Ju reached out and took Oriasa's outstretched hand and gave his best approximation of a winning grin. "I'm ready when you both are."

Orias then nodded at Ni-Ju and grabbed ahold of his hand, and then bowed her head and closed her eyes,

“Oh great spirits that Guide Me,
Bridge the gap between two souls,
Let us enter into the plane where these two souls meet,
And commune with the one who is imprisoned…
Spirit Step…”

Suddenly there was a bright flash of light and Vierorin now stood there by himself and he then collapsed to the ground,

Orisa, Ni-ju and Vierorin seemed to be passively flying through some kind of tunnel, the walls showing a variety of images that came and went to fast for anyone to discern what they consisted of, “Hold tight Ni-ju, we are almost to our destination.” At those words a light at the end of the tunnel showed up and when they went through it, they seemed to have entered into an area the was nothing but a hot and barren wasteland, “This is our third companions home… and over there… is where he resides” She then pointed out in the distance, and there was a gigantic cage of light that surrounded and equally large hole in the ground that a large amount of smoke was coming out of. “Remember Viery, stand back, and Ni-ju you do the same, stay where we land,” They then floated down to a spot ten meters away from the edge of the cage, Orias then let go of Ni-ju and walked forward, “Oh Friry, we have come to pay you another Visit, Are you awake Mr. Friry?” At that point a large rumbling sound starting to emanate from the ground as if a Volcano was about to erupt, “You pathetic people dare to disturb me once again… what have I told you! IF YOU WONT LET ME OUT LEAVE ME ALONE!” At those words suddenly a giant form lurched out of the hole, a brilliant Azure glow emanated from the smoke as a giant claw with veins of azure fire flowing across its surface grabbed the cage of light and two gigantic azure eyes glared at the group outside the cage. “But Mr. Friry, we have come to talk with you, to ask for your permission on something and learn more about you,”

Ni-Ju held tightly to Oriasa's hand as the world seemed to narrow down and be drawn through a tunnel of kaleidoscopic images, which left his gut feeling as if he were going to get a second view of his breakfast if it continued on too long. Closing his eyes seemed to help a little bit at first but as the seconds wore on it ended up doing more damage then good. He only faintly heard a voice telling him that the trip would be over soon before it was in fact. Passing through a light at the end of the tunnel that bore enough similarities to stories of the afterlife to send shivers going down his spine, Ni-ju found himself floating through sulfur tainted air that lay heavy with the smells of all things burning, soaring above a dry and pitiless wasteland that stood barren of life as far as the eye could see. Oriasa, explaining as she went, pointed out their destination in the distance and in no time flat brought the three of them to a safe landing just a short distance away from their goal, a tremendously large smoking pit surrounded by a cage of purest light. Leaving the two of them where they had all landed with a stern warning to remain there, Oriasa went forward by herself in order to coax a responce the the hitherto unknown "Third" person. Ni-Ju wasn't quite sure what exactly to expect until he was faced with his first glimpse of what lay in the hellish pit before him. A sudden urge to release his bowels was vary narrowly stifled as the sight of the titan's gigantic features being revealed, however if anyone would have asked him at that moment in time he would have been very unashamed to admit that the front of his trousers were less than dry. Thanking the heavens that he always came prepared, Ni-Ju decided his next best course of action would be to change clothing as soon as the possibility presented itself and then give Vierorin a sound thump to the head for not giving him any warning of what he would be seeing.

Frircoras let out a large reverberating growl that shook the very ground his eyes was not on Oriasa, but on Vierorin. The gaze so fixed on him the hate in his eyes seemed to permeate through the area just as much as the very heat emanating from the Titan, “Frircoras, I said we-“ Frircoras then roared to cut Oriasa off, “I heard what you said Girl! You don’t need to tell me ideas that insect has thought of! I Told you before, when you so graciously deliver the news that our Souls are forever intertwined! I hear his thoughts no matter how much it angers me!” Oriasa waited for him to calm down a bit before speaking again, “Frircoras, then will you grant us permission to modify your Titan’s Flame?” At these words Frircoras roared and attacked the cage Violently getting more and more upset, “EVEN IF I SAID NO YOU COULD DO IT ANYWAY!! I HATE YOUR PATHETIC RACE, I WILL GET OUT AGAIN AND I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE ORIASA!”

Oriasa took a step back at this outburst, “But Frircoras the only way you can find peace if you calm your flames of rage…” Frircoras then looked at the group his eyes ablaze, “I DON’T CARE AT THIS POINT, NOW LEAVE ME ALOOOOOOONNNNE!” Then suddenly a shockwave emitted from the cage knocking everyone back into the real world.

Vierorin stood up dusting the ash from the ground off his body, “It doesn’t seem your sessions are going well Oriasa…” She weakly smiled, “They are progressing… remember how much he wouldn’t talk the first time I took you into the gap of your souls…” They then both turned to Ni-ju and bowed in apology,

Ni-Ju wasn't quite sure what to make of the whole situation as Vierorin and Oriasa attempted to make nice with the enormous creature that lay within the pit. Things seemed to be going well enough until Oriasa posed a question to the titan that was met with enough hate that the feeling was palpable. A shout from the giant creature rocked the very air around them and sent them all spinning back through a vortex similar to the one that had allowed them to arrive. The second journey was thankfully much shorter then the first and in no more time then it would have taken to bat an eyelash, the trio was deposited back amongst the ash strewn hills from whence they had came. Dusting his clothes off, Ni-Ju regained his feet in time to hear Oriasa say something to Vierorin concerning a "Gap of Souls". Hmmm. So thats what that giant hole had been. Before he could excuse himself to take care of the small but urgent matter of his soiled clothing, both Vierorin and Oriasa turned to him and gave almost simultaneous bows of apology. Clearing his throat, Ni-Ju made a gesture with his chin towards a large pile of still cooling slag. "I need to go take care of something real quick, be right back." Making a quick gettaway without another word being spoken, Ni-Ju made his way around to the leeside of the slag and began to remove his spare clothing from his crowded pack. His reasons to see this through were being sorely tested, to say the least, but he wouldn't let that stop him from seeing the job through. After all, Lamia Scale mages weren't the type to quit until every once of their strength had been used up and they were dragged away upon a stretcher.

Vierorin and Oriasa took seats on the igneous rocks as Ni-ju had to go tend to something, sensing the hostility in the air Oriasa pulled out a harp and started to play her regular soothing melody. Vierorin closed his eyes, still feeling the heat from Frircoras’s temper burning deep within him, but after a few minutes the heat from Frircoras started to dye down, his temper was subsiding for now.

Vierorin then opened his eyes and sensing Ni-ju was still within earshot spoke up so he could hear him, “Considering we got his halfway permission I will describe what my aim is…” Vierorin lifted up his right hand and ignited it, surrounding the entire arm in Azure flames, “I am wanting to modify my Az… No… I am wanting to modify the Titan’s Flame…” he paused for a moment swallowing a lump in his throat from saying those words, “I am wanting to make it naturally produce a ember like powder that hangs in the air…. And with this powder I can target it with my own magic power and cause it to erupt into a fiery inferno… It’s a simple idea really… at least on paper… I don’t know for certain how we are going to modify this fire…” Vierorin then went silent contemplating how it could modify this unnatural fire to do something unique and rather unheard of, but he knew for certain, if they pulled this off, he would always have a trump card in play in case a situation arose he needed it. “So Ni-ju, what is your plan to train me…?”

Dressing in a slow and methodical manner, Ni-Ju listened in as Vierorin explained exactly what he had been hoping to get out of calling him halfway across a continent for and found himself feeling just the smallest bit of sadistic pleasure as recompense. While this trip had been something of a great success in having traveled to another plane, the consequences were readily apparent from the smell of the rapidly burning remains of his discarded clothing, making him more then a little glad that he was always prepared for the worst. Stepping out from his temporary hiding spot when finished, Ni-Ju began removing the equipment that would be needed for Vierorin's training from his pack. From out of his extradimensional storage space, Ni-Ju brought forth three dozen fine wax candles ranging in size from about that of his smallest finger to a set of six that were almost as big as he was and took all of his strength just to pull into position. Once finished with forming the circle where everything was to take place, he turned to face Vierorin and Oriasa once more, bearing as calm of an expression as he could muster. "In response to your earlier question, I have devised a series of both physical and mental exercises which I am sure will help to yield the results you are looking for in your magic. But before we begin with any of that, I figured that I should have a better grasp on your abilities so that I can accurately adjust the next few stages of training to better suit you." Ni-Ju motioned for Vierorin to step into the ten foot expanse of circle and began explaining further. "Hidden randomly within these three dozen candles are six small silver rings that have been attached to charges of blasting powder. Using your wits and your magic alone, I would like you to retrieve as many of them intact as possible.Brute force will more then likely set off the charges and break the rings so I would advise you to attempt as subtle an approach as you can." What was unknown to the young mage was they also contained a number of other little surprises such as smoke and stink bombs to throw off concentration and keep him guessing. While this test was certainly not standard, he had high hopes for what it would reveal of Vierorin's capability for deductive reasoning and control as both would be needed if his planning was to come to fruition.

Vierorin watched as Ni-ju walked out from his hiding place and then started to reach into his bag and brought out thirty six wax candles of varying sizes. At this Vierorin scratched his head in bewilderment until Ni-ju began to explain things, and as he did a smile slowly came to his face. He nodded at Xavier after he finished his explanation and looked around at the candles, he then nodded “Orisia, Ni-Ju, you may want to step back a few feet.” Orisia nodded and walked roughly ten feet away from Vierorin and nodded at him, “The Color of a fire is a clear indication of how hot it is… Azure Flames are near the hotter end of the spectrum… typically burning so hot when left uncontrolled most things can’t be near them for long… Sadly, I am not able to control the Titans fire perfectly… but in this situation… that works in my favor…” Vierorin then sat down and started to concentrate his magical power, the already hot air around him started to get slowly hotter as a azure glow started to emanate from him.

Then suddenly he was wrapped in Azure flames, the heat emanating from these flames were so intense that Orisia could feel a good portion of where she had been standing, and in that moment the wax candles started to rapidly melt away, from the smallest candle to the largest, the heat from Vierorins flames was melting them all within a minute, proving the true heat of his own flames.

Vierorin then suddenly shut off his flames, causing the temperature to slowly go back down to what it was before, however for the wax candles that had previously surrounded him, the wax was now bubbling on the ground next to the bases revealing the what laid underneath. Vierorin then stood up and started to walk around examining each of the places where the wax candles had originally been. As he did he managed to find the six small silver rings and began to meticulously disarm each one to free it from its explosive trap. After about ten minutes Vierorin managed to acquire all six rings with relative ease, he wiped his brow, even during his time during the rune knights, he didn’t have much experience in bomb disposal.

He then stretched for a few minutes relieving himself of all the pent up tension in his muscles, He then placed the rings on the ground and looked at Ni-ju, “Well I hope that test showed you what you needed to see, I can’t do much outside of burning things and dealing damage…” Vierorin then paused for a moment and looked at Orisia, “And He doesn’t make good company with other people currently as you could plainly see… Orisia has been trying to help ease his burning anger but has made little progress…” Orisia grimly nodded “Speaking of which Viery, I must go and try and talk with him more…” At these words Vierorin nodded at her, She then muttered something and vanished in a bright light, “So Ni-ju, whats next on the agenda?”

Ni-Ju had watched carefully as Vierorin had used his magic to melt the candles in far less time then he would have thought and several things were made apparent. First and foremost was that despite how powerful this young man's magic may have been, fine control of the elemental force at his command was still lacking a bit and seemed to come to him only with great difficulty and he would have to step up his training regimen to the next level if results were going to show positively in the short time that was allotted to him to train Vierorin. As the rings were set in front of him and he was asked about the next step, and Oriasa vanished once more to speak with the titan that had nearly spooked him half to death, Ni-Ju decided that now would be as good a time as any to reveal one of the stranger methods of training that he had cooked up.

"Alright, so for this next bit we will be working on a special control exercise for flames in particular which will once more require a fair amount of effort on your part." Grabbing a small rock from off of the ground, Ni-Ju tossed it into the air high above him and proceeded to detonate it as a signal to draw back in his feathery companion. From just to the south of the position where they stood standing, a loud cry could be heard and they were quickly greeted with a dusty landing from Sim, who seemed more then a little happy for being included for once and was prancing around in anticipation. Ignoring Sim's behavior as being the norm, Ni-Ju launched into his explanation of what was to follow."For this little exercise, I am going to have to ask for a fair amount of your trust that I have some idea of what I am doing as it will be just the slightest bit dangerous should either of us begin to panic once we have started." Probably not the best way to start his speech off but he continued on anyway while reaching into his pack for the pieces of equipment that he required. "We will both be going up onto my large friend here's back and winged away to the lofty heavens above. Once we have reached his maximum altitude, you and I will be taking the quick route back down by jumping from his back and along the way possibly giving you a better grasp on some of the weirder properties of flame."

Ni-Ju finished removing the cold weather coats,air bladders, and parachutes from inside his pack and scratched his nose sheepishly when he realized how crazy his plan sounded. "As strange as this all might sound, what I have in mind is to test your magic in a place with so little air that even the greatest of flames must expend a great deal of effort to remain alight. I will be tossing small discs made of various materials into the air as we fall and you shall have the task of turning them to ash but this is secondary to what your main focus should be placed upon. What I would like for you to draw your attention to is two things in particular, first among them would be how how much or how little is needed to keep your flames being consistent as we pass lower and lower towards the ground and the second of which is that I would like you to very carefully observe the debris that will be created when you destroy my test aids." Handing over the small pile of equipment that was meant for Vierorin, Ni-Ju gestured towards the rope ladder dangling from Sim's back. "Suit up and climb aboard when ready."

Vierorin listened intently to what Ni-ju had to say what his general first stage of the training was. He had thrown a rock up and caused it to explode above their heads, which promptly made a gigantic bird land near them. After Ni-ju explained the main point of this next exercise, Vierorin promptly went slack jawed. He silently accepted the gear and stood there for a long moment before… “WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO! This is going to be great! However this gear won’t survive the trip down.” Vierorin then walked over and picked up his shirt, it was made out of a rare, highly heat resistant cloth, “My Clothing has to be specially made so it won’t be destroyed whenever I fight… Things would get really awkward if that happened… again…” Vierorin then slumped his shoulders at the embarrassing memory and slipped on his shirt, he then went and climbed up the rope gently patting the massive bird as he did.

He then found a spot he could stay for the flight and then started to devise a plan for this exercise, he had no doubt the high altitudes would in fact be little issue for his flames, infact the biggest issue would be the fall itself with Wind magic being the one magic that easily trumps his own. That will be the biggest obstacle aside from finding someway to land safely on the ground itself. He then counted all the spells he had been able to managed to master with the magic and began to form a plan is own mind.

Once Vierorin had explained his small problem involving the destruction of clothing he wore while in the midst of casting and boarded Sim's broad back, Ni-Ju quickly followed behind him, taking a seat a couple of handspans away from his clearly nervous student while thinking up a way in which to let the young man go through with his training without ending up as a smudge upon the hard ground below. An idea suddenly came to him and despite the clear danger that would be involved, it had pretty much everthing that would be needed to continue forward in short order. Turning to face his companion, Ni-Ju decided it would be in order to give a bit of reassurance. "No need to worry about your landing once we are aloft. All I want you to focus on is the training at hand and I can deal with the rest." The parachutes that he had had made could quite easily hold two people and according to the man who had sold them, it was a regular occurance for his more excitement seeking custumers to preform a daring jump where the chute was thrown out before the person in question jumped and then the chute was attached while in midflight. If that was possible then attaching a secondary person to his chute before hitting the ground should be a cake walk in comparison. Flicking the reins to give Sim the signal to take flight, the two mages found themselves aloft quite suddenly and began a steady climb that soon had them so high above the earth that even the massive forms of the volcanoes that had surrounded them became nothing more then small pin pricks that dotted against the broad landscape of Fiore that appeared before their eyes. Once they had reached a high enough altitude that even Sim's huge wings began to labor against the thinning air, Ni-Ju turned to Vierorin once more and gave a thumbs up, signalling him that it was time to begin their descent. Wishing to waste as little time as possible and needing to set a good example in the bargain, Ni-Ju took a handful of the disks that he would use as targets from his pocket and quite calmly jumped.

Vierorin shook his head when Ni-ju said not to worry about his landing, “Worry? Whose Worried?” Vierorin then hit his chest, “I already have a concrete plan!” They kept gaining altitude and Vierorin went over his landing strategy once more in his head… I will use a combination of Azure Flame Bomb and Azure Flame Stream to generate enough lift to counteract my fall…. However to pull that off I have to enter into that state… Vierorin went quiet for a moment and closed his eyes and bowed his head, Forgive me Frircoras… but I have to merge with you… for us both to grow stronger… Not to long after they reached max Altitude he watched as Ni-ju gave him the thumbs up sign and then leapt off his Roc, Best not to not keep the fella waiting, Vierorin then jumped off the Roc and followed Ni-ju in suit, preparing to use the first spell of his arsenal, Lets do this!

Meanwhile… deep within the gap of Vierorins Soul, Oriasa was sitting down at the edge of the cage while a large plume of smoke came out of the pit where Frircoras resided. “Mr. Friry, are you finally in a talking mood?” There was a loud rumbling sound of Frircoras growling, “What is it?” Oriasa started to play her harp which began to calm Frircoras down, “Why is it Mr. Friry, why Are you mad all the time? The real reason? It can’t be just because you have been sealed,” There was no noise for a long moment aside from the music Oriasa was playing, when suddenly there was a low whimpering sound, “The reason why?” Frircoras lifted his head out of the pit making an azure glow wash over Oriasa, “You could say… the reason why is I will never get to see my homeland again… My kin… My brother and other family…” Oriasa cocked her head to the side for a moment, “I understand those sentiments… However, Viery… is in the same boat you are-“ Frircoras then narrowed his eyes and let out a small growl, “Do not try to compare my hardship to his! Girl You keep on playing! I have lost my mood to converse with you!”
