Standing inside a large abandoned warehouse that the rune knights had made available for both the ideas Ni-Ju had had in mind when he had inquired about the job, stood ten individuals wearing the uniform of a rune knight recruit. The group seemed evenly divided among male and female recruits with everyone chatting among themselves amiably among themselves. As Ni-Ju entered the building the group became noticeably quieter and began forming up in lines. Before they could finish he gestured for everyone to take a seat near the entrance of the warehouse, facing inside. As everyone shuffled around for a seat, Ni-Ju decided it was appropriate to set things off. "Hello knight recruits, my name is Ni-Ju Hachi and I am on loan from the Lamia Scale guild for a short while to help instill at least a solid foundation of how magic is used and some of the practical applications it can be put too. Now does anyone have any questions before we start in earnest?".

Several hands shot up demonstrating that at the very least this group was enthusiastic. Ni-Ju picked the closest person first, who got to his feet, swiping at the dust on his pants as he did so. "If its not too rude to ask Sir, what kind of magic is it that you have?". Taking in the number of hands that went down as the young man's question was asked this seemed to be what the entire class was most interested in at the moment and played quite well to what he had in mind for an example of what it took to cast a spell. Ni-Ju took a palm size metal ball from his pocket and threw it to the far end of the room. Turning back to face the class he gestured for everyone to cover their ears. Focusing on the metal of the ball without looking, Ni-Ju drew from the well of his magical energy and directed it to it's task. With a loud "bang" that made even the most hardened of the recruits flinch, a large hole was left in the ground where his micro metal detonation went off, leaving a small cloud of dust floating through the air.

"Now what I just showed you all was the most basic form of my magic." Ni-Ju supplied, taking in the stunned stares of the class as a whole. "The way my magic in particular works is to channel the magical power from the well within my body and direct its minuscule power to damage the magical bonds that help keep an element together, thereby breaking it apart, and releasing the massive amount of energy that is contained within. Honestly not the best trick for parties I can assure you."Ni-Ju jokily closed the subject. "Now that we have that out of the way lets get down to brass tacks. All that magic is when it comes down to it is the manifestation of the user's soul or spirit, if you will, and the only things you need for a spell to form are a manifested soul and the focus to direct it's actions. With both of these things solidly in your grasp magic can be both an incredibly helpful tool and if need be an extraordinarily powerful weapon.".

With his explanation of the basics done, Ni-Ju decided it was time to see what all his students had taken from what he had said. Pairing them up randomly, he placed the students at twenty foot intervals and set each pair the task of trying to manifest their magic. Ni-Ju walked from group to group answering questions and at times helping a person to manifest by simply asking the right questions to get them started on uncovering what the main focus of their magic would be. After several hours of such work, the entire class had found what type of magic they could use and were eagerly shouting and laughing with each new trick one of them managed to figure out. Some of the students proved to be far more adept then he would have suspected as one young woman who looked to be in her early twenties proved. Using the bare basics of wind magic this girl had discovered a way to fly through the air as if she were a dolphin swimming in the sea and with less then a full days training at that.

Both surprised and extremely pleased by the amount of progress everyone had made, Ni-Ju decided it was high time to give the last and most important lesson he had learned about magic to his students and do the city the small service of demolishing a condemned building to boot. Ushering everyone back together and leading them outside a goodly distance, Ni-Ju had the recruits stand behind a series of small wooden barricades that had been erected while they were all busy practicing. Taking a large bag of stones that he had earlier prepared out from under one of the barricades, Ni-Ju calmly strode back into the warehouse and emptied the entire bag around the building's main support column on the incredibly unlikely chance that his magic wasn't able to take care of the job with pure concussive power. Done with the preparations, Ni-Ju exited the building and rejoined the recruits. "Now as my last and most important lesson to you all about magic I want to show you what it can do if used by those who would do you and others you know and love serious harm.". Gesturing once again for everyone to plug their ears, Ni-Ju macro detonated the stone pile he had set up. The resulting chain of explosions tore the warehouse to pieces as if throwing it through a giant thundering wood chipper. Looking into the eyes of the recruits around him, Ni-Ju was quite certain what he had taught had made a very lasting impression. FIN.
