Wedding Crashers | Hika & Kodai | Job

"Hmm. A wedding. Interesting. But what do I have to wear? I guess I'll wear that old suit." Kodai Venator, the Ancient Huntsman of the Rune Knights, said, looking at the letter that had somehow made it's way to his hut in the middle of the Spooky Forest. How they had gotten it there was beyond him, but he felt sorry for the poor sap who had had to trek through the dark woods filled with monsters and bandits. He pondered this as he changed into the fancy black suit. Well, he really just put the suit on over his leather clothes. He expected to get in a fight, after all, and this stuffy garment won't help with mobility. He wanted to be able to discard the suit in case he needed to move fast.

When he was finished changing, he sat on his bed, holding his spear, Ketsueki. "Would it be inappropriate to bring this to a wedding?" he said. After a few minutes, he decided that it would be. He did, however, slip on his enchanted ring, a simple loop of black chain. The ring was enchanted so that it could conjure chains around a person. Kodai had named it the Ring of Restraint. It would come in handy if he needed to detain someone. He then stood up extended his hands in front of him, and focused. In a flash of light, his trusted weapon, a massive, six-foot-tall longbow, appeared in his hands, complete with arrow already on the string. Kodai grinned. As a ReQuip mage, he was never unarmed. He stored the bow back in his armory, then walked outside. He placed his fingers in his mouth and blew hard, producing a piercing whistle. Almost instantly, his huge wolf friend, Skia, came loping from the edge of the woods. Kodai fed her a strip of meat, then climbed on her back. Skia closed her eyes, then sank into her own shadow.

Minutes later, Skia emerged from the shadows near Rose Garden, and Kodai dismounted. He patted her side, then watched as she shadow-traveled away, back to their forest home. Kodai then looked around for his partner. According to the letter, her name was Hikari Shirokawa, a Sabertooth mage.

As Kodai walked into the area in which the wedding was to take place, he scanned the area for immediate threats. Seeing none, he fiddled with his hands awkwardly, unused to not having Ketsueki in his hands and unsure what to do with them. If he wasn't a ReQuip mage, he'd be nervous about being unarmed. But, as he had remarked earlier, he was never unarmed. He eventually settled on shoving his hands in his pants pockets. Upon doing so, he saw a young girl running towards him. His practiced eyes took in all of her features, and he determined her to be about sixteen or seventeen. He also felt the magical aura around her, and he realized that she was his partner.

When she approached him and introduced herself, he responded with a low, formal bow. "I am indeed your partner. My name is Kodai Venator, the Ancient Huntsman of the Rune Knights. You may call me Kodai." he said. She was surprisingly short compared to him, and he had to look down in order to look her in the face.

As he straightened up, something caught his eye. It was a person, acting suspicious near the edge of the garden. Immediately, Kodai went into battle mode.
"Miss Hikari, prepare yourself. We have an enemy inbound." he said, alerting his partner to the threat. In an instant, his bow was in his hands, arrow nocked and fully drawn, aimed at the enemy. All non-mages in the immediate vicinity backed up, alarmed by the massive weapon and it's sudden appearance.  Kodai noticed this, and raised his voice to address them. "Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize for this. However, I am a representative of the Magic Council, and I am here to eliminate a threat to today's event. If you would please withdraw to a safe location, it would be much appreciated."
