- The sun loomed high up in the sky painted a vibrant mixture of a calming azure blue cast alongside scattered puffy white clouds. The sun's ray cast down upon the soft brown gaia, the bright light causing the dew lacing the grass within the opening near the middle of the forest to glisten brightly. A gentle breeze cascading down upon the earth, aiding birds in their travels and bringing a sense of relaxation down upon the forest. The opening mentioned before, now being comprised of shattered patches of grass while the rest was simply scorched earth. What was once green grass now showing evidence of having been exposed to a powerful blaze, while the once brown gaia having been charred to crisp black hue, smoke still rolling off of it. Near the center of the clearing, a large mushroom-shaped cloud of dust could be seen flowing into the sky blanketing a large crater. The crater having a radius of around thirty feet with a depth of around twenty five feet.
Within the crater at its epicenter, stood a shirtless male of below average height with a darkly-tanned complexion. He had spiky jet black hair and fierce dark red optics. His build being rather muscular despite his short stature. He had a tribal semi-sleeve engraved upon his left shoulder and deltoid, with a less intricate tribal band wrapping around his right forearm. The lower half his body still being covered, such coverage coming in the form of a pair of baggy black pants with red inverted crucifixes adorning the lengths of the pant legs. The males gaze was narrowed as he stared down at his hands. The males down was littered with signs of excessive exhaustion, from nicks and cuts on his arms, to the dirt smeared upon his chest and face, to the sweat covering his entire upper body, glistening in the sun rays as they finally managed to penetrate the dust cloud his training had left.
The males gaze was narrowed, his maw curled into an annoyed scowl as he headed towards the edge of the crater. "Damn it. I really thought I had it that time." He grumbled in a surprisingly rough voice, he didn't seem angry, no his tone was drowned in pure excitement and a hint of nostalgia. The male grinning as his hand grasped the side of the crater, his fingers digging against the rough resistant rock with enough force to crush it steadily as he climb up the side of the crater. A few minutes later the male was sprawled out on his back next to the crater staring up at the sky. "Where are you, father?" The male spoke aloud as if expecting some unknown being to come forth and provide the answer the question that had been haunting him for years now. The youth's hands curling in upon themselves as they tensed up clenched into fists which were quickly consumed by a fierce blaze. A flurry of a red, orange, and yellow blended flawlessly within the flames as they thrashed about upon the males fists. The blaze seeming to intensify and spread upon his forearms as he pulled himself up off of the soft gaia and walked a good ten feet away from the crater. "A'ight. One more time. If I do nail it this time I'll grab a bite to eat and get back to work." He said in an attempt to reassure himself that he'd finally do what he had failed to manage even once over the past seven days.
Ari inhaling deeply, holding in the breathe he had just taken he would then exhale it letting his body relax as the flames upon his forearms seemed to become more focused. His gaze seeming to narrow as his maw curled into an excited grin. The youth now dashing forth his arms at his sides, the flames upon focused around his fists seeming to glow with an intense fiery orange aura as his arms went into their commanded directions. His right arm swinging up above his head, his left doing the opposite. He let his appendages linger like this for the briefest of moments before his right arm swung downwards, his left arm swinging upwards the two forces meeting his open-palmed hands clasped down upon each other. The gather flames clashing fiercely before erupting into a massive fireball which ripped into the gaia beneath his feet. The grass around him being incinerated instantly leaving the earth charred to an extra crispy black. This too would quickly be torn apart. The fireball having set off a chain reaction which produced a vicious explosion. The ground was easily shredded, most of it simply being pulverized to dust by the flames sheer brute force while the rest was sent flying in every direction. The debris ranging from small rocks no bigger than a pebble to large chucks of earth equal in size to the youths fists. The explosion and fireball dissipating only to leave a crater flooded with yet another mushroom-shaped cloud of dust in their wake. In the epicenter of the crater lay the male who was now panting heavily. "Fi-Finally. . . I FINALLY NAILED IT!! HELL YEAH!!" The male cheered excitedly as jumped to his feet. He was now jumping up and down shouting excitedly, his laughter seeming to bellow throughout the forest.
This display of excitement would be short lived as all the fatigue from just the past few hours of his merciless training finally set in. The males body becoming heavy before going limp for the briefest of moments sending him crashing to the ground. He grumbled some as he lay there for a few minutes. Slowly but surely, he could fall at least a bit of energy return to his being. The males battered frame throwing itself off the ground and back into an up-right standing position. The male laughing to himself as he stood there, his gaze locked upon the sun which by now was filling the crater with its intense rays. "Time to get some grub!" The male exclaimed as he rush to the side of the crater began ripping into the earth as he scaled the crater. A few short minutes later he had managed to drags himself back to ground level. "I hope the fires still burnin'. I'm screwed if it ain't." He mumbled to himself as he thrust his hands into his pockets. The males posture seeming to slip some as he hunched forth a bit out of habit. The male kicking off his dull beat up black sneakers not even bothering to see where they would land. The loud grumbling of his stomach was a much more urgent demand than something he'd just lose anyways.
The male continuing in his strides as he headed a good five minute walk into the forest. This walk would leave him standing before his pitiful excuse for a camp site. His tent, or at least what looked like in some strange alternate reality could have possibly been a ten was quite literally in shreds. The rest of the camp site being in a similar state of disarray. The only areas that seemed a bit too well kept being a small pile of clothes consisting of his shirt and hoodie, and the large ring of rocks which outlined an over-sized make-shift fire place. The male giving a sigh of relief as he saw that within the ring of large rocks, there was indeed still a large fire burning. Just beyond the camp site was a river filled with a variety of different fish. Nothing exotic by any means, but when one is roughing it in the forest such things don't matter. The male walking over to the shattered pile of logs and scoop up four of them. He would toss all but one of them into the fire to give it some extra fuel. The fourth log being set within the fire, the log being left to linger until it was undoubtedly ablaze. The youth would raise the flaming log so it was just before his mouth. A cheerful smile playing upon his maw as it opened some, the sound of inhaling filling the air as it mixed with the sound of the male chomping away at the flames. These sounded staying constant for a solid four or five minutes as the male steadily devoured the flames. The log in the end, being reduced to ashes was scattered by the wind.
Ari having finally eaten would let a loud guttural belch rip forth from within his gullet. "Nothing beats eating fire after an intense work out." He proclaimed cheerfully as he walked past the raging fire and toward the river. "Guess. I should probably clean up." The youth said as he sniffed himself, his nose twitching, his features contorting into apparent revulsion. "I smell worse than a friggin' Vulcan." He muttered in a tone of clear annoyance as he stripped off his boxers, pants, and socks. Once undressed he simply jumped into the river. He dunked himself under a few times before climbing out. He didn't bother to cover up or find something to dry off with. Instead, he simply allowed his bodies heightened body heat to speed up the drying process which took only a few short minutes. Once he was nice he dry he washed and flame dried his clothing before getting dressed once more. The male now wearing the pants from before, with his upper body now being partially hidden by a red sleeve less shirt. Ari walking back towards the edge of the river. He would kneel down, cupping his hands he would let them sink into the water. When he pulled them from the water they were safely containing at least enough water to quench his thirst, though he'd rather quench it with a barrel of beer back at the guildhall.
"Looks like I'll be having fish and fire for dinner again tonight." He muttered as he pulled himself from the ground and back into an up-right standing position. He would then stretch every part of his body to release any built-up tension. Ari once free of any tension, would focus his magic power within his hands, flames taking shape from within the center of his open palms before spreading so that they had engulfed his hands. Flaming hands at the ready he would curl his finger in upon themselves clenching them into tightly woven fists. He seemed to linger upon the edge of the river, his eyes narrowed, gaze focused upon the river. The water was clear enough he had a visual on a school of fish swimming only a few feet from where he stood. Ari bending his knees, would hunch down before leaping as high into the air as he could manage without gathering any sort of momentum from which to propel himself. His body held a brief ascent followed by a rapid descent upon the area where the fish were swimming. He grinned as he neared the water, his arms swinging back and forth as he punched at the water rapidly. His punches while seeming erratic and pointless were actually precise and focused in their point of impact. Each punch he threw his fists burning with flames strong enough to rip through the water hitting the fish. He didn't hold back too much, but didn't put forth enough brute strength to destroy the fish just leave them immobile. His body had dropped quick so he didn't manage to catch too much, but he was satisfied with the five fish he managed to snag.
Ari now with food in hand would walk back toward his make-shift camp site and toss the fish down beside the fire. He would then go to grab a log from the scattered piles of wood. He would throw the log up into the air, his eyes watching as it spun through the air while making its descent. He waited for just the right moment, his body lurching forward he would slam his right foot upon the ground using it to pivot his body ninety degrees, his left leg swinging outward in an arcing motion. As his leg soared through the air flames would take shape thrashing about within a limited capacity upon his foot which soon made contact with the log. The log on impact splintering into a shower of sticks which thanks to the force of his flame enhanced kick now found themselves lodged within the trunk of a tree. Ari snagging the five he would need from the tree would pace back towards the fire and drop into a sitting position where he had left the fish. He then gutted them using his own fingers to rip them open along their underside. He then impaled them and set up so they weren't in the fire, but close enough they would cook to perfection and no animals would be stupid enough to try and steal them. At least that was what Ari had believed, not long from now he would see just how wrong he had been.
A little while later, Ari was walking back to his camp site he had gone deeper into the forest to hit the head before eating. He had just now reached his camp site, arriving just in time to see a lone Vulcan looming over his fire place. From where he was standing he see the five tail fins hanging from the Vulcan's mouth. His cheerful features twisting as they turned into those of pure rage. The males hands curling into tightly woven fists as he ran towards the Vulcan. "That was my dinner you stupid ass monkey!" He snapped angrily at the Vulcan, his right fist flickering briefly before a raging flurry of orange flames took shape thrashing about upon the appendage. The Vulcan grunting a few times as raised its arms and began beating on its chest. Ari making use of what he saw as the Vulcan letting its guard down to throw a powerful flame-enhanced straight punch to the Vulcan's gut. He followed this up with a fierce barrage of flaming punches from both his right and left fist. When each punch connected they would erupt releasing a small scale explosion. He could tell he hadn't beaten the Vulcan, not yet, even as he watch it go stumbling backwards into a tree he didn't let his guard down.
His cautious was well placed as the Vulcan quickly regained its composure, well as much as a big hairy idiot can. The Vulcan now pissed off began beating the crap out of the tree it had slammed against. The Vulcan's punches being powerful enough to crush the trunk. The Vulcan now hurling the remnants of its temper tantrum at the fire dragon. Ari was quick to respond, albeit a piss poor excuse of defending one's self as he had simply raised his flaming arms and tried to catch the tree. The trees momentum sending him sliding backwards, his feet digging into the soft gaia as he slid, kicking up a cloud of dust. Ari was successful at stopping the tree if you ignore the two trees he had literally smashed through in the process. Ari wasn't just angry about the food, now he was angry about letting some stupid ass monkey best him in a show of brute force. Ari jumping over the tree would give off a sinister grin, cracking his knuckles as he watched the Vulcan pound away at its chest and bellow loudly. "Shut up ya dumbass. You're too friggin' loud." Ari snapped angrily as he stepped forth with his left foot and simply dropped off the piled and destroyed trees his feet hitting the ground with a rather loud thud.
"Ya know what? Screw the fish. I'll just kick your ass and eat you for dinner!" Ari snapped as his hands and forearms were set ablaze, the flames thrashing about his appendages wildly as he ran towards the Vulcan. The Vulcan sensing confrontation responding in kind as it ran towards the young dragon. The two combatants clashing fiercely, the Vulcan throwing the pummel Ari with an uncoordinated flurry of fists which let expectantly large openings. Ari, even while dodging the punches, was setting up what he felt would be a good finisher and the best chance at testing it out in actual combat. Ari's right arm swinging up above his head, while his left did the opposite, the flames clashing with the same amount of force as earlier. The moment his open-palmed hands clasped together they triggered a chain reaction, the flame expanding outwards rapidly in a spherical directionality. The fireball engulfing the Vulcan only the erupt capturing the two combatants in the explosion. Unlike with his training attempts, this time the crater was more focused and the sheer force of the explosion had blown both Ari and the Vulcan soaring backwards.
The Vulcan being sent skidding across the ground like a rag doll as it smashed through tree after tree. Ari however, had swung his body while being thrown backwards, his feet slamming against the previously destroyed trees he had been thrown through. He used this momentum fling himself after the Vulcan. The Vulcan now trying to steady itself being caught off guard as Ari gave the final strike, a full throttle headbutt. The Vulcan staggering backwards would fall for good having been knocked unconscious thanks to that final attack. Ari falling to the ground would land a few feet away from the Vulcan clutching his head. "Damn it. That's not supposed to hurt me!" He grumbled angrily before kicking the Vulcan in the side of the head over and over again. He soon regained himself and lugged the Vulcan back to his camp site. Once back at his campsite, Ari simply dropped onto his back. "Tough bastard ain't 'cha." He muttered as he sat up and stared at the Vulcan.
Ari was just about to get started on cooking himself of open-fired Vulcan when he heard some rustling a few feet beyond his camp site back out towards the river. "The hell is it now?" He grumbled some as he peered over at the fire lingering in his make-shift fire place. He was in more ways than one glad that he hadn't used his own flames to make this particular fire, if he had, he wouldn't have his favor meal on demand. "Guess it can't be helped." He muttered as he swung his right arm in an arcing motion into the fire. While most people would receive heavy burns from such a stunt, Ari wasn't most people. Unlike your average run of the mill mage, Ari's flesh was more like scales than the soft easily broken skin of a human. The males arm being withdrawn from the blaze, but with them they carried along a surplus of flames which he was now holding within the palm of his hand. Ari watched as the flames danced about within his grasp, they also seemed to have a life of their own as they swayed back and forth in an un-kept manner. Ari standing up once more would head off towards the river. The youth grinning inwardly as his opened and closed over and over again, a sharp inhaling sound being followed by the sound of teeth chomping down upon something. This of course would have seemed impossible if there had been any on-looker's, but there weren't, at least none of the human variety.
Ari stood there, a disinterested look upon his face as saw what was causing trouble in the river. His mouth was still slightly ajar, the remainder of his snack lingering at the entrance to his gullet. "The hell are you anyway?" He questioned the massive four-armed Vulcan and from the look upon his mug, the dragon actually expected a response. Instead of words, he only received a loud thunderous roar right in his face, which should have slathering Troll Kong slobber upon his body. The beast now pounding its fists upon its chests as it called in the same manner the somewhat smaller two-armed Vulcan had done not so long ago. All the while, Ari just stared blankly at the Troll Kong, when the beast had roared in his face he had simply let a pillar of flames surround him vaporizing the slobber before it hit his being. He watched as the beast beat its chest and called out to its brethren. "Oi, shut up! I don't have time for anymore more of ya....", before Ari had even finished talking or given a big enough crap to really focus on the situation the beast had swung both of its right arms. The sheer force of the strike sending the Fire Dragon Slayer smashing and crashing through several trees. This probably should have left him an mangled mess of broken bones and crushed internal organs, it had not, this saving grace being due to Ari covering himself in flames the held a temperature great enough to incinerate the chunks of tree that threatened his fleshy vessel with injury. Regardless, to say he was dazed would have been and understatement, his entire world was spinning. Ari stumbled about watching as the imaginary smoked vulcan meat still on the bone circled his disorientated being over and over again, "Oi, get back here. That's my vulcan meat ya prick..." He mumbled as his body tried to wake from its own confusion.
A few minutes later, Ari stumbled off to side tripping over himself face-first into the river. "Did anyone get the number for that TRAIN that hit me?" He asked aloud, still a bit dazed and unsure of where he was and about to regret where he thought he was. Not even a minute after he had uttered the word "TRAIN" Ari had lost his life-long battle against transportation. His gut seeming the flip-flop upon itself as it twisted and churned its contents violently. Ari was already hunched over a rock near the edge of the river, his eyes shooting off blanks as they were glazed over white, his brows arched in a manner that indicated extreme displeasure. The Dragon Slayer's arms wrapped protectively around his gut, his face having taken on a fittingly sickening blueish-violet shade, cheeks puffing up momentarily before he gave way. Ari knelt there a gut-wrenching mixture of fish and various other animals in various stages of decomposition being forcefully ejected from his oral orifice. This seemed to go on forever without end as the horrid, foul smelling blood hued ooze splattered with a grotesque sloshing as it was released into the water below him. "Damn. That's it. Screw the training. I think I'll go Vulcan Hunting instead." Ari said in a groggy tone, which really wasn't all that odd for someone who seemed to have just vomited a whole lot more than the past days worth of food.
Ari grumbled angrily as he walked out of the river, his body felt like it weighed a ton, which given his clothes had soaked up a good deal of water, was just about hitting the nail on the head. The male caught up in his anger would grab hold of a rather large tree. He would draw his upper body back away from the tree before swinging forth in a pendulum motion his head smashing into the most sensitive and fragile part of the trees trunk. The tree in the wake of the males angered headbutt would, for lack of a better explanation, shatter sending debris in every direction. "I'm gonna find that damn monkey beat the shit out of it! Just you wait!" Ari yelled angrily, flames spiraling around his arms before being drawn to and wrapping around his fists. Ari taking off at his top speed until he reached the clearing he had been in much earlier. "Where's the friggin' camp site?" He said aloud with an expression of utter confusion playing upon his visage. He had a feeling he might know where he was, as for how to get where he needed to get, all seemed able to really do was draw a blank, and a rather big one at that.
