History/Story
History:
The story of one Kazuki Kobayashi begins not with him, but with his father, Damascas F. Kobayashi. Damascas was a Knight, and a very good one at that. Even early on in his career, he showed the potential to be an exceptional swordsman. He moved through the ranks at a fairly quick pace, before eventually settling on Lieutenant. He had participated in a number of missions, and had shown his skill as a leader, as well as his skill with the sword.
During one such mission, however, disaster struck. Though failure happens to even the best of us, this particular event was very, very bad for him. His entire platoon was ambushed by a combined unit of members from the Dark Guilds they were hunting, and they were nearly completely torn apart in the process. Damascas himself suffered heavy injuries, and would have died had he not literally crawled his way to a simple looking house in a nearby town. That house was the home of one Wendy B. Malthier.
Over the following months, because yeah, it was that bad, even with healing magic from a local healer, the two came to know each other. He was a Knight of great power and skill, and she was a Mage herself, skilled in the the way of Gem Make magics. They did develop feelings for each other, but it wasn't until a bandit attack about two years later that it really cemented it. Simply put, she was captured, and he went to rescue her. Except when he got there, there wasn't really anything she needed saving from. She had taken down most of the bandit camp by herself, and was in the process of fighting off the leader and some minions.
Naturally, he jumped in anyway. He began to fight alongside her in the burning wreckage, slinging spells and more or less slaughtering the rest of them. Amidst the carnage and bloodshed, a bond was formed between the two, not just of lovers, but of comrades and teammates. After disposing of the rest of the camp, and promptly looting/burning what was left, the two went back to her house. You can imagine what happened after that. It was a fight fraught with near death and very narrow misses. So of course the first thing they did was pass out. What were you expecting? They did decide to get married after that though. His father retired from his service as a Knight.
Seven years after, Kobayashi was conceived.
In the years following, the two decided to teach their son the arts of Magic and Swordsplay, which would be rather essential in his survival later.
Eventually, at the age of nineteen, Kobayashi left his mother and father's house to go out into the world. Why? Partially because he felt that he could do more good out in the unexplored (for him) world. The other part was actually because he had more than a little bit of wanderlust in him. He never liked staying in one place for very long, and despite the fact that he did love his parents, and did actually like his home, he felt the need to leave.
The next two years were spent on the road, traveling from place to place, putting the skills both his parents to good use. Along the way, he encountered fellow swordsman and future good friend Luke Tellas, and assisted him with a problem he and his family had been having. That problem being members of a local Dark Guild. Whatever they were doing in there, it was killing off the crops they were trying to produce.
Banding together, the two stormed the lair where the Dark Guild members were conducting their business and slew the few that were there. Unfortunately they succeeded in summoning a demon, one that nearly killed the two of them after it, naturally, turned on its remaining 'masters'. Being somewhat reckless, and not wanting to loose his friend, Kobayashi jumped in the way of an otherwise fatal attack, stabbing the demon through the head in the process. That nearly killed him off for good, were it not for the fact that Luke was a user of Healing Magic. He wasn't skilled enough to completely restore him, but it was enough to stabilize Kobayashi and get him back to Luke's house.
After receiving proper treatment, after a good, solid month, he departed from the humble place with both gratitude and quite a few provisions for the road.
Kobayashi set off from there and out into the wide world once again, with a smile on his face and a spring in his step.
The story after that? Well, dear reader. . . that is yet unwriten.
The stage is set. The actors chosen. The director calls. The curtains go up. Let the play, begin. . .
