Caravan Raids (Solo Job)

Job Details:

Rachael sat in the shadows silently, waiting for the caravan to pass by. She had been given orders to gather the supplies from the caravans that passed through here. A fairly simple task, she thought. What was the worst that could happen? They were just people, not like they could pose much of a threat to her. Especially with all these guns. Yet as much as she wanted to, there would be minimal bloodshed. A few flash grenades and an extreme display of her power would show them just what they were messing with, and they should flee. Right? People were freakin' stupid, but they weren't THAT stupid were they? Rachael was about to find out. She already knew they were closing in on her, the poor men and women that were about to have their property stolen. Rachael didn't care about them, she only cared about... well, she didn't know. Alls she knew was that the time to strike was nigh, and she could feel an itch start to grow in her trigger finger. Her guns weren't out yet, as they were saved for the worst case scenario. First she would hit them with a flash grenade, then she would teleport in and cut the horses free before leaping off to the side and cutting the wheels of the leading wagon. Everything after that would have to be improvised, but she had a vague idea of what to do then. All she had to do was wait and see how things turned out...

There it was, the leading wagon of the caravan she was supposed to take down. It was small and slightly worn down with age, but it showed no signs of breaking any time soon. Rachael would have no problem cutting "such a fine piece of art" to pieces. Of course she would leave the cargo intact, as that was what she was aiming for. A minute passed by and the caravan was getting incredibly close to her, so she reached down to her utility belt and pulled out a flash grenade from one of her pouches. The horses leading the caravan were right in front of her now, meaning now was the time to strike. Using her teeth to pull the pin from the grenade, she threw it in front of the horses and covered her eyes, waiting for the high pitched bang that would signify that the grenade had went off. The noise passed and Rachael immediately turned back to see the light had come and gone, so it was time to initiate her plans.

One moment Rachael was there, the second she was standing on the horse's back and staring at the reigns that were keeping them in going. Pulling the trigger on her Muramasa's sheath, the sword came flying out at high speeds and Rachael caught it, using the momentum to slice the reigns and other things that were keeping the horses in check. Leaping off just in time to miss the horses rearing up, Rachael grinned at her work and prepared for the next part. The horses were already running off in panic, and the merchants and mercenaries that had seen the flash were just now recovering. Now was where she was going to have to start defending herself.

'Monster Dice' :

Out of the corner of her eye Rachael saw the glint of metal reflecting upon what little light there was inside this dim forest. If it weren't for her animalistic genes, Rachael would be blind right now. Just like the guards that were trying to defend their little caravan. Grinning a grin that only a maniac would wear, Rachael raised her sword and adopted the appropriate fighting stance, red electricity crackling across the crimson blade of her Muramasa. The first guard came from the right and swung in a downward cleave on her with a scimitar, only to find that is weapon was now split in two. His jaw dropped and he took two consecutive steps backwards, only to find Rachael following his movements eagerly. The guard flinched just in time to feel the side of his temple get smashed in by the hilt of the crimson sword. The guard could only fall on the ground, unconscious as Rachael turned to face the other guard. He was late to the party simply because he was further back than the other one, and he had totally seen how Rachael knocked the first guard out in less than a few seconds. There was a second of pause before he reached to his back and pulled out a musket from his back. A musket? Seriously? How pathetic. Rachael already knew what she was going to do and it was sad.

'Monster Dice' :

Pointing at the man holding the gun, she mumbled something under her breath and just as he pulled the trigger on his gun, firing the bullet, something flashed just in front of him. He couldn't see it because of the smoke, but after a second of wait, it was clear as to what had happened. The bullet wasn't moving. It just sat there, only a few inches out of the barrel of the gun. He quickly realized just how outmatched he was. But he was still curious as to what was happening. Was she using telekinesis to stop the bullet, was it some kind of magnetism or-

"Your bullet has been frozen in time." was all Rachael said before charging the man and splitting his gun in two with her sword. He was too in shock to realize that she was in front of him until his gun dropped from his hands. If Rachael hadn't stopped, he wouldn't have been able to run away like he did. The next thing Rachael knew was that there were two more guards on the other side of the caravan wagon. How did she know? Her sensory powers, that's how. They were so unfortunate that it was her they were dealing with. Rachael couldn't stop repeating that to herself in her mind. A second after she started thinking that, the bullet that was frozen zoomed forwards like it should have 5 seconds ago.

The two guards rounded the corner and pointed guns at her, this time guns that weren't muskets. Even still, they were far outmatched. The two would have opened fire upon Rachael, but she sprung over them, forcing them to take longer to aim. One of them started firing while she was in the air above them, but he missed every bullet with his little pistol. The other, who had an assault rifle looking thing, turned around and stepped back so he was out of sword range before taking aim again. Rachael landed on the ground, only to vanish in a cloud of smoke. While she was waiting for the men to come around the corner of the caravan, she took a smoke grenade and tore the pin out of it before she leaped up and landed behind them.

"Heh..." mumbled Rachael from next to one of the guards. She would apologize for what she was about to do to him, but she didn't feel remorse for causing any of these men physical pain. The man would find his consciousness slipping away as he took a powerful strike to the back of the neck from Rachael who felt his presence within the smoke. The other guy? Oh he was about to get his share of pain as well.

The guard leaped back out of the shadows, only to see Rachael follow him with her sword raised above her ready for the attack. He attempted to bring his weapon up to aim at her, but he soon found it was in pieces from Rachael splitting it clean in two. There was a pause in the doge's step before she spun around low and sweeped the feet out from the man, causing him to fall onto his back. The next thing he knew was that there was a heel grinding into his temple. He too found himself slipping away into the subconscious. Humans were so easy to toy with now, she didn't know if she liked it or not. There were times when she found herself challenged in a fight, but other times it was just a piece of cake, similarly to what she had just been through. All that was left was the man at the front of the carriage, sitting there and watching in fear. It was clear he was too scared to participate and that he hoped Rachael wouldn't notice him, but she had, and that would be the most unfortunate event in the man's life.

"You." Rachael said in a menacing tone, her eyes locking onto him with a glare that would make grown men defecate themselves in fear. The scrawny man turned towards her, shivering in fear, and pointed to himself.

"Yes you, dumbass." Rachael said bitterly before reaching up and grabbing him by the scruff of his neck. "There's no one else here but you and that asshole sitting in the carriage. Yeah, I know you're there! I'll give you a minute to come out, else they'll be burying your body without a head!"

With a grunt and a sigh of frustration, Rachael lifted the man up and threw him onto the ground in front of the carriage, her scowl never leaving her face. The man got a faceful of dirt and mud, his shaky arms slowly pushing himself up to look up at Rachael in absolute terror. She simply raised her foot to slam his head straight back into the ground. "Go. If I catch wind of you telling anyone what happened here, your head will find itself mounted on the wall of my room."

The man didn't need to be told twice. Rachael removed her foot from his head and he got up, turned around, and ran for dear life back to the town he came from. And he had to go through the spooky forest, the one thing that probably already gave him nightmares. Now he had even more nightmare fuel.

Now all that was left was whoever it was that was sitting in the back of the carriage. Who could it be, she wondered? It was just one person, and they were surprisingly... calm? Rachael didn't know what to think of this. Was it a trap? Possibly. The cargo she was entrusted with stealing was in the back of the carriage with the man. That meant he was the last resort to finding it? There had to be more to it than that. He was sitting there, unmoving, without any real fear or panic about the situation at hand. He couldn't see outside, but surely he could hear that his allies had been beaten and now he was the only one left.

"Get out." Rachael demanded, her voice clearly directed at the man in the back of the carriage. The man didn't budge at all, only causing Rachael some mild irritation. "I said get the hell out of there." she repeated, only to be ignored once more. She could keep trying but she knew exactly what the man was going to do before he did it. Great. Walking to the back of the caravan carriage, Rachael placed her hands on the rags that were covering the back and preventing the man from being seen. Once she threw these open, she was sure it was game time. She made sure to sheath her sword and keep one finger on the trigger of her sheath as she placed her other hand on the back curtain of the carriage. Taking a deep breath to try and calm herself, only to fail and make herself more irritated, Rachael flung open the curtains to see...

'Monster Dice' :

...the barrel of a gun pointed directly at her. Mere milliseconds before the trigger was pulled, Rachael managed to teleport away, off to the side of the caravan. The man who was hiding inside leaped out and took aim at Rachael before firing off several shots at her, most of which would hit her mark if she didn't move out of the way. Luckily, Rachael managed to anticipate where the barrel of the gun was pointed so she could weave through the bullets and start approaching the man. The man didn't bother trying to shoot her again, he just discarded his gun and drew his longsword. Holding it with both hands, he was able to meet Rachael's upward swing with a downward cleave of his own.

Only to find that his sword was cut in half.

"So NOW you start to panic!" Rachael growled, her frown intensifying as a low canine growl erupted from her chest. "You son of a bitch...!" Sheathing her sword, she took a step towards the man as he took a step back and aimed the pommel of the blade at his chin.

"Go **** yourself." The doge muttered before pulling the trigger on her sheath, firing the blade straight at the man. The pommel hit him square in his chin, the force sending him and the Muramasa a few meters into the air. Leaping into the air, Rachael met the man's gaze with her own stare of malice. Nothing was said, and the only thing Rachael did was grab the hilt of her sword before slamming the pommel into the center of the guard's unfortunate face, sending him flying straight into the ground. Rachael landed a mere second later on the ground next to the man, not even giving him a side glance as she sheathed her sword for the last time and walked towards the caravan.

"Amateurs."

Stepping inside the carriage to the caravan, Rachael frowned once she saw there were meager supplies here. The boxes, when she tried to lift them, were not very heavy. She even cracked one open only to find that the supplies in it were minimal. Where was this thing going anyways? There was hardly any food at all. Oh well. She could still lift the boxes, even with the stuff in them. That meant that she could send them to her pocket dimension so she didn't have to carry them. A sigh emanated from the doge as she slowly started to calm down. The people were either gone or unconscious, meaning she didn't have to deal with them. Huzzah, more peace and quiet for her. Rachael simply started sending the crates off to her little dimension before slowly beginning to find her way back to her client. There was just one more job for today and she could finally go home, or at least to her room at the guild hall, and sleep. Ah yes, sleep. She loved that thing. The temporary disconnect of the consciousness from reality. At least, that's what Rachael perceived it as. She could be wrong, but she didn't care. She didn't think she was right either anyways, for the young doge girl was too tired to think about such a subject anyways.
