Alyia and Deca- Size Matters

Job Discription:

Alyia’s feet padded into the empty main hall of the guild as she made her way to Deniel’s, her partner, room. She looked around the empty hall before she headed to the kitchen where she went to grab a strawberry ice-cream sundae from the freezer. There were many there, all of them already prepared. Grabbing one, Alyia left the kitchen and entered the guild hall once again. After some time with her partner she now knew that someone made the sundaes purposefully for Deniel, and that Deniel loved strawberry sundaes. With a quick look around the hall Alyia quickly tip toed over to the hidden entrance to Deniel’s room. With a small push to the entrance the door opened and the blonde mage walked inside closing the door behind her. Turning to look down the hall Alyia shivered. “He just had to make his room under ground didn’t he,” Alyia mumbled to herself as she continued into the dark passageway. Walking through the passageway Alyia though about the job that she had picked up for her and Deniel. A woman had lost her ring in her garden and needed someone to go and find it. The part that caught Alyia’s eye was the fact that she was going to shrink them down so that they could go and find the ring meaning that their enemies would be bugs. She didn’t know how Deniel would react to such a job, but if he didn’t want to do it she was going to find someone who was willing to do it with her. Finally reaching her partners room Alyia entered with sundae in hand. “Deniel? I have a job!” Alyia called to her partner. The room was big and the ceiling was high. (Not that it made the blonde mage feel any better.) So it took a little while until she found Deniel.

Deniel's ears could pick up the sound of her footsteps even all the way down the path to his hidden room. It was a useful skill to have, because then he knew that someone was coming down to him. Judging by the fact that Kyll nor Zeno would most likely have to see him for something, he concluded the only person it could be was his newly found partner, Alyia. While he could hear her footsteps going down the hallway, he resumed his personal training with Nidhogg. Right before he was about to draw the black blade, though, a sudden idea came to him. He looked over to the entrance of the room that Alyia would be coming from and smirked. "Hmmm..." Deniel ran over to the entrance and jumped right on top of the arch. Then, he impaled his katana Nidhogg inside of it and stood on top of the sword. This way, he was like a gargoyle perched on a stone wall. When she entered the room, he was almost hovering over her. He saw in her hand that she had a strawberry sundae, which must have meant she found out that he didn't make them, Kyll did. He jumped down from his sword and took the blade with him. He landed right behind her and suddenly placed her hand on her shoulder, "BOO!" Immediately after he gave her his own version of a scare, he snatched her sundae right out of her hand and held it high. He knew that he as much taller than her, and there was no way that she was going to reach it. "Come on, try and get it! By the way, what's the job about?"

Alyia shrieked as Deniel scared her and took the sundae out of her hands. She spun around and snarled at him. “Come on, try and get it! By the way, what’s the job about?” Instead of answering the question that Deniel asked Alyia crossed her arms and glared at him. “That,” Alyia pointed at the sundae that was now high above her head in the male mage’s hands, “was for you, I grabbed it before coming down. And the job is finding a person’s wedding ring that she dropped in her garden.” After the scare Alyia was not in the mood for Deniel’s antics. “She would have tried to find the ring herself but her garden is overly lush and she needs help.” Alyia stopped her explanation of the job. Deniel didn’t need to know that they were being shrunk to 2 cm tall. Or that there are bugs in the garden.(Which to her was a no shit) Her arms still crossed over her chest Alyia glared at Deniel. “And why of all places did you decide to make your room underground. You know how I feel about being underground.” Alyia shivered at the thought of not being able to see the sky. She had shared this feeling after the first she went on with Deniel. Stopping her shiver Alyia looked right at the dark haired mage. “If you’re going to come, I’m leaving tonight. Walking that is.” Alyia since her first mission had made it a point to walk everywhere she went. It was less crowded and she didn’t have to worry about transportation fees or timing. Turning on her heel the blonde mage headed for the entrance of the cave. She had been in Deniel’s room for too long and she wanted out of this confined space.

"Oh. Well...uhhh...thanks?" He felt a little bit awkward, having his playful prank on her fail right away. So, he just lowered his arm and grabbed the spoon from the sundae. He started to eat it while he listened to the brief description of the job from her. Hmmm...a ring, eh? This made him think all the way back to when he was a D rank mage, and he was trying to find a ring for a person on one of his jobs. Those were the days. Simple tasks with no danger to them at all. And now look at him. "Alright, doesn't sound like a problem." He shrugged and then continued to eat his sundae. He ignored her question about him wanting his secret room underground. Well then it wouldn't be so secret... he thought to himself but didn't say anything. The last thing he wanted to be to her was rude. "Alright, see you then." He turned away from her with his strawberry sundae still in his hands. Meet up with her when she's leaving at night to do a job about him finding a ring. Not a bad task, and certainly not hard. However, Just before she was able to exit his line of sight, he turned around right away. She told him his room was underground, and that made him realize something:"Hey, hold on, wait a second! I'm underground, remember? How the Hell am I going to know when it's night?"

Alyia smirked when she heard his question. Spinning around her hair flying around her ankles Alyia looked at her partner with a fun making look in her eyes. “That’s not my problem Mr. Secret-underground-room-with-no-windows. You should have thought of that.” The words came out in a teasing manner. There were times that Alyia was smarter than Deniel. They just didn’t come very often, but when they did the blonde mage took full advantage of them. With the smirk still plastered on her face Alyia turned back to the dark passageway. Looking at it she shivered. The room was bad but the passageway was worse. Taking a deep breath the female stepped into the dark hallway. ‘Stupid Deniel and his bright ideas,’ she thought as she continued down the darkened path. ‘Why couldn’t he have his room on another mountain where it could be hidden in the trees? That way he could tell what time it was and I wouldn’t freak out every time I visit him for a job.’ As the blonde took another step a thought came to her. Spinning a full 180 degrees Alyia headed back into the hell hole. She  poked her head into the cave of a room. “Deniel, you meat head, you could always use a clock.” With those few words Alyia ran out of the underground hell hole and back to the entrance of the cave. Looking through the entrance of the passageway Alyia saw that there was still no one in the Guild’s main hall. Pushing the entrance open Alyia stepped back into the guild. Taking a look around realizing that she had time the blonde female made her way to the kitchen and stole one of the sundae’s from the freezer. “What’s mine is yours,” Alyia mumbled as she grabbed a spoon, "And sharing is caring." She took a big bite of the sundae as she exited the guild.

"I..." he held his hand up in protest in defense for him installing windows to his room. That would have completely killed the purpose. Windows are a structural weakness and a dead-giveaway that someone was there. Before he could say anything or defend himself, she was already gone from his room. Deniel dropped his hand down in frustration and sighed. "Ugh...whatever..." Deniel walked back towards his room where with his strawberry sundae was at. And that's when he noticed that it tasted surprisingly like the ones Kyll had made for him. He originally thought Alyia made this herself, but then he realized one thing: she found where Kyll stored it for him. To make matters worse, he heard her voice right behind him. He swiftly turned around, only to see her running up his stairs again. "Erghh...GODDAMNIT! Stupid woman!" He wasn't necessarily upset or enraged with her, he was just a tad bit annoyed. It wasn't something that was going to jeopardize their partnership at least. Deniel no longer felt the need to train with Nidhogg anymore. He simply walked over to his bed that was far from the entrance and at the very end of his room and stumped down on it. There wasn't much to his strawberry sundae left, so he simply finished it and placed the glass cup under his bed. "Damn woman..." he muttered to himself before he turned over on his side.

Deniel hadn't realized it, but he fell asleep a few minutes after Alyia had left. He opened his eyes in alarm and quickly got off his bed. He looked around himself in panic. He remembered the events that happened before this, and he hoped he wasn't too late. Quickly, he rushed outside of him room using the exit that lead to the base of Phoenix Mountains. When he got outside, he was a bit relieved to see that the sun was only setting, and darkness hadn't arrived yet. Still, it was only a matter of time. The exit that he took wasn't a door or anything. It was merely a part of Phoenix Mountains that was accessible, but looked completely ordinary. It didn't even open, a person would simply walk right through. Above his room, high up on Phoenix Mountains, was Eclipse Soul's Headquarters. Deniel sighed upon seeing that night still wasn't there yet. Still, he was going to wait outside the exit to his room until Alyia had walked down and joined up with him.

With night approaching Alyia started down the hill to where she knew Deniel would be. In the time that occurred between her telling her partner when they would meet and now Alyia had finished off her sundae and had gone out into the forest to climb trees. Though she would have loved to spend her time pulling pranks she wanted to save her strength for later. ‘Later meaning when Deniel tries to kill me for not telling him that we will be shrunk and dealing with bugs.’ Shuddering the blonde continued down the hill where she knew that she would meet  Deniel. Since her trip down the steps with her black haired partner on their first mission together Alyia had been more careful walking down the steps. More careful being that she looked at the steps as she ran down them her long hair flying behind her. Reaching the bottom of Phoenix Mountain the blonde girl skidded to a stop and her overly long hair brushed past her with momentum.  She  looked back and forth around the base of the mountain for the exit to Deca’s room. She didn’t exactly know where it was so she had to look for a bit before finally spotting it. Well she didn’t exactly find the exit first she found Deniel standing outside of the exit waiting for her. “Oh hey look! You were actually able to tell when you were supposed to come out and meet me!” Alyia teased her partner. She was surprised that she didn’t have to go back up to the guild and go and get him when it was time for her to leave. “Well, lets go Mr. I’m-too-smart-for-windows. We have to head to Clover Town and we don’t have forever and at least I didn’t have to go get you like I thought I would have had to.” With that Alyia started on the trip to Clover Town.

While he was waiting outside for his partner, Deniel decided to have some alone time with Nidhogg. No training, no jobs, and no bad timing. "So...Nidhogg..." Deniel walked away from the exit to his hidden room and sat on the ground with his katana beside him. "Yeah?" Deniel looked over to his blade with his typical smirk on this face. However, this one was more mischievous than it was cocky. "Are you going to say 'hi' to he-" "No!" "Awww, c'mon! I know you're not gonna' be able to stay quiet for long. And when you do speak up, I wouldn't want her to be too surprised about it." Deniel looked up at the sky. He could hear his sword grumbling at him. He did have a point, he wouldn't always keep his mouth shut (If he had one). "Fine, but this better not get weird. Introduce me when you guys get to the job's location." Speaking of the job, Deniel started to wonder what was so hard about finding a ring in a garden. This was a C rank job, and it seemed much more like a D rank. There wasn't any danger in it it seemed...unless her plants were killer. If that was the case, he was just going to cut them up.

Deniel heard the sound of her voice, so she sat up from the ground and picked up his katana along with him. "Yeah, yeah, yeah...whatever. Smartass." He was pretty much through with the topic about him and windows. "It's supposed to be a hidden cave, Alyia. Windows would ruin pretty much everything." He shrugged and scratched behind his head before following her to whatever the destination of the job was. Time to kick some ass.

Alyia ignored the last comment from Deca. She had already realized that he was stubborn and that he wanted to stay hidden from the rest of the guild. ‘Wait if he wanted to stay hidden from the guild then why did he help me?’ Alyia though as she continued her path down the mountain with Deniel in towe. It just didn’t make sense to her. ‘Well the past is in the past and we know each other now,’ the blonde thought as she shrugged her shoulders. ‘And the future is a mystery.’ That thought made her shiver. Deniel would probably kill her. ‘What I’m doing not is not a future but a death.'

Hours had passed since Alyia and Deniel had left Eclipse Soul. They were getting close to Clover Town and they would probably arrive in a couple minutes or so. Through out the trip Alyia had tried not to act fidgety about the mission, she was worried about her partner killing her. Though as time wore on the blonde mage started to laugh about what Deniel would do and how he would look. Her prankster side was coming out and she was starting to shake due to her laughings. She could only hope that  Mrs. Cartigan would shrink them before Deniel realized what was going to happen to them. Because if he figured it out before hand them he would run and that would be no fun. Alyia giggled to herself again as they grew closer to  Mrs. Cartigan’s house. ‘This is going to be fun!’

While they were walking, Deniel kept thinking to himself just how exactly this was a C rank job. It just doesn't make any sense! Why is finding a ring in a garden made for C rank mages? I found a ring in a RIVER as a D rank? What exactly is going on here? Deniel frowned and made a grunting noise. He looked down at the blonde mage he was following to the job. She's up to somethin', isn't she? I knew I couldn't trust humans! He clenched his fist around the scabbard to his blade Nidhogg. He hadn't trusted any form of humans before, and took a chance with her. And now, that chance was slowly dwindling. If she's up to something, I won't hesitate to teach her a lesson. His suspicions were starting to get even worse when he heard her laugh along the way. There wasn't anything funny in sight and he hadn't said anything at all. Something definitely was going on. "............" All Deniel did was make some grunting sounds behind Alyia. Shortly the two had arrived in Clover Town, a place Deniel had been to before. He took a deep breath of the towns air and thought back on one of the jobs he had done in this place before. Detective For a Day. A B rank job where Deniel took out an entire rogue mage operation all by himself just to search for a tea set. A tea set sounded like a D rank job, but it had B rank dangers to it. This one...did it have C rank dangers of some kind? In a garden?

He looked down at his blonde partner again. Well, no choice but to find out... As they drew closer to Mrs. Cartigan's house, Deniel could definitely see the "lush" part of the garden. Flowers and plants were everywhere. It's almost like a jungle! In fact, it could be a jungle if he were as small as insects and bugs. ...Insects and bugs?

Alyia had seen the garden before she had actually seen Mrs. Cartigan’s house. She was glad that they had finally made it to their destination. She had been feeling Deniel’s eyes on the back of her head for the last couple minutes and she was beginning to worry that he was figuring out what was going on. ‘I need to hurt this up before he catches on,’ Alyia thought as she sped up her walking pace just a little but so that she would get to the house faster but not so fast that there was a noticeable difference. Reaching the house Alyia knocked on the door with three sharp knocks of her knuckles. The door opened and in front of her stood an old woman about Alyia’s height. She had white grey hair up in a bun that looked like a donut on top of her head and round glasses place on the end of her nose. The blonde girl watched as the older woman took a look at her and her partner. “You must be the two mages that accepted my request,” she said, “Though I expected that you would be older.” Mrs. Cartigan looked at Alyia. The blonde girl growled in her head. She knew she was short and she didn’t need it to be rubbed in. Keeping her face blank Alyia spoke, “I’m older than I look, don’t base power off of size. Anyways, we’re ready. Do you have any idea where you might have dropped the ring?”

The old woman looked at the two. “It was near the tomatoes at the back of the garden,” Mrs. Cartigan replied. She showed the two mages into the backyard. “Are you ready?” Alyia didn’t give Deniel time to respond before she nodded. “Right.” The with a few words from Mrs. Cartigan the blonde mage and her partner started to shrink.

Deniel stayed silent the entire time. However, this thoughts were still racing with every step they took, and every moment they stood still waiting for Mrs. Cartigan to answer the door. Damn it!? Just what is Alyia up to and what is so dangerous about this job!? Come on, tiny brain, think! Think! Deniel's harsh thinking stopped the moment he saw the door opening. He stood up straight and looked at the old woman who answered the door. Short, just like Alyia. Why are most of my clients old women? Deniel was mainly reminded of the job that he did here before, the one about finding the tea set. Miss Zoe was her name. Deniel had to cover his mouth with his hand to prevent him from laughing at Mrs. Cartigan's comment about her expectations on their age. He was tempted to comment on it at as well, but kept his mouth shut. Deniel followed her and his partner into the backyard, where he could truly see the lush and gigantic garden. "Huh...interesting." He was too busy paying attention to the garden to realize that his partner already told him they were ready. He was mainly trying to study the garden to get a good idea of what goes where and everything else. However, he felt his body suddenly shrinking down. "Woah, wait, what!?" He looked down at himself. He was getting closer and closer to the ground, and Mrs. Cartigan was getting taller. Not just himself, but Alyia was also.

"Damn it, Alyia! Why didn't you tell me this? We could get lost in the garden!" In a way, he was right. If they had studied the garden before being shrunk down, they could have made a map or something for them to follow. Because once they were shrunk down, it would be like a whole new world. Still, it was far too late now. Deniel was all the way beneath the grass with his two centimeters of size. Luckily for him, Nidhogg shrunk down too. "Awww, damn it!" He was so tiny, that the grass was pretty much like trees. And since Alyia and him were standing just a couple of feet apart, that separated the two from each other when they got shrunk down. "Alyia, where are you!?"

'Monster Dice' :

Alyia had watched as her partner had shrunk down. She couldn’t say that she didn’t enjoy being taller than Deniel for a short amount of time, she did to be brutally honest. But, after she heard what he had said on his way down Alyia snapped out of her euphoria and stole a quick look around the garden memorizing the signs that stuck above different patches of plants. She turned to Mrs. Cartigan and nodded, she was ready to go down to ground level or to two centimeters above it. After her nod the blonde girl started to her descent to the garden floor. Alyia watched as each plant got larger and everything seemed bigger, it was like a jungle, a giant garden jungle. She didn’t like it. It just made her feel smaller. ‘As if I’m not small enough already.’ She had a feeling that her partner was going to hate her for not telling him everything and letting him plan what they were going to do. He was also going to tease her about still being shorter than him all at the same time. “I might as well get it over with then,” Alyia mumbled as started her search in the general direction that her dark haired partner had been in.


After searching for a good 5 minutes Alyia sat down on what would have been a pebble but now seemed like a boulder to her. She had not seen one sign of her partner through her entire time of looking. She was starting to not only get annoyed but also frustrated. That was when she heard rustling of leaves near by her. Maneuvering herself so that she could see who or what was causing the noise Alyia spotted her partner. A smirk appeared on her face as a thought appeared in her wicked mind. ‘Revenge will be sweet.’ Climbing over leafs and up stems never taking her eye of the black haired mage the blonde girl made her way to right above Deniel and a little forward. With one last gleeful smirk Alyia hooked her knees on the stem to a leaf that she had climbed to get above Deniel and swung downwards so that blue and red met. “Hello! Looking for me?”

"Alyia!? Alyia!?" Deniel cupped both of his hands beside his mouth so he could amplify his voice in hopes of finding his partner. He waited a few seconds in silence to see if he could get a response of any kind. After the silence passed by, he sighed and scratched behind his head in complete irritation. "Ugh...we wouldn't be separated if she had just told me what was going on." He was frustrated and angry with his partner. This is what she must have been laughing about earlier...to him it wasn't funny at all. All it accomplished was getting the two of them separated and lost. I hope she's gotten plenty of laughs out of this. Idiot. Deniel made his way through the jungle-like maze of the blades of grass. He couldn't believe how huge they looked when he was shrunk down so much. They were all much taller than him right now. These were the kinds of things he walked over every day. He looked and looked for his partner, until while he was walking in one direction, her face suddenly came dangerously close to his. "Hello! Looking for me?” Deniel didn't look too happy to see her. His red eyes frowned at her, and that's when he took a step back away from her face. "Cut-off!" In what seemed like an instant, Deniel drew Nidhogg from its scabbard and cut the piece of grass she was swinging down on so she would land harshly on the ground.

"You idiot! Do you have any idea how much trouble this cause-" Deniel looked like he was about to cut Alyia using his sword, but something interrupted him. The piece of grass began to rustle to his right as if something big was coming. "Huh...?" He looked to his right to see a disgusting, gigantic, six-legged creature coming his way. An ant. The red and black insect stared down at Deniel with big, beady black eyes. Two antennas were perched atop its head and moving around. The creature stopped upon seeing Deniel and Alyia, tiling its head to the side. Deniel was frozen in place as he looked at the ant. His red eyes widened and his body began to shake in fear. The ant started to move closer to him, and Deniel didn't move a muscle. It moved its head down towards Deniel so it could get a better inspection at it. Deniel couldn't take it being any closer, and made his move. With Nidhogg still drawn, he screamed as loud as he could sounding like a little girl. He closed his eyes tight and aimlessly cut in front of him. "NO! GOAWAYGOAWAYGOAWAYGOAWAYGOAWAYGOAWAY!" Deniel screamed again and sheathed Nidhogg back in its scabbard. He hesitantly opened one of his eyes. He saw the ant cut up into pieces from the power of him and his sword. Even in death, the bug still scared him.

Alyia watched the scene of Deniel freaking out at the ant unfold in front of her with wide eyes. Was he afraid of bugs? A mischievous smirk grew and decorated the blonde girls face. ‘So Mr. Secret hates bug, huh? This job just got a whole lot better.’ After holding in her laughter for a couple minutes Alyia could not take it. She burst out laughing. It was just too funny. From the way he looked terrified at the ant to the random swinging of his katana to the screaming like a little girl. Holding her stomach the blonde fell backwards laughing, her blonde hair fanning out behind her. After a moment the girl stopped and sat back up only to catch a glance at Deniel glaring at the chopped up red ant. Seeing the sight she started to laugh again the earlier actions of her partner resurfacing in her mind. It took a shorter amount of time for the blonde mage to compose herself but with one look at her partner giggles started to resuscitate in the back of her throat. Closing her blue eyes Alyia took a deep breath to get control on her actions once again. Letting out the breath she opened her eyes again. Sitting up and looking at her partner she was tempted to start laughing again but she decided that they should probably finish the job. After all they had walked through the night and she would like to get home in time to sleep in her own bed. Putting her hands on the dirt ground Alyia hoisted herself up off of the ground. Finally standing up again the blonde brushed her hands together to get rid of the dirt then brushed off the rest of her body that it too would be mostly free of dirt.


Looking back at the black haired mage she smirked involuntarily, “You finished? ‘Cause you seemed to be having a might fine time cutting and screaming at that poor ant.”  She was going to say more but suddenly a leaf near by started to rustle. Freezing in place Alyia waited to see just what would appear from behind the patch of green. She didn’t have to wait too long before another ant separated the leaves and appeared before them. The black beady eyes looked at her and Deniel and then away to spot the fellow red ant that Deniel had slain in panic. Alyia watched as the head of the ant looked back at them as if trying to put together what had happened to it’s comrade. Suddenly the ant surged forward at the short blonde as if it had finally put the pieces to the puzzle together. Jumping out of the way as the red ant rushed her Alyia realized that she would have to fight the giant bug. Preparing herself Alyia moved so that she was in front of the ant but still pretty far away. “I call upon the Curse of the Fallen,” Alyia said as she looked right at the ant imagining it’s legs being pulled off one by one. She watched as the ant made a hissing noise and bent at it’s junctions in it’s legs. With quick feet the blonde ran forward. Reaching the place where the ant was Alyia jumped up into the air and spoke a second spell; Punishment of the Fallen. Flipping over in the air Alyia swung her leg down so that it made connection with the junction piece that connected the ant’s head to the rest of the body. Feeling the body of the ant collapse below her Alyia backed away from the insect and looked at it. It wasn’t dead, but it was pretty broke. She looked at her partner and smirked once again. “You had such fun with the first one want to finish this one as well?”

Spells Used:

Pants and heavy breaths escaped Deniel's lips after he finished killing the first insect. He was terrified of bugs, much less ones that are twice his size! He stared in complete caution at the corpse of the ant that he had sliced into pieces. The slightest twitch would make him jump and cut it up again. His red eyes were wide and his entire body would have been shaking if he were not paralyzed with fear. Then, something behind him broke the barrier of fear: Alyia. He heard the young blonde mage laughing right behind him, and that's what ceased his heavy breathing and lack of movement. He turned around to see her on the floor laughing at the scene she just saw. Of all the times for a bug to appear, it had to have been with her. He sheathed Nidhogg back inside of the scabbard and crossed his arms at her. He gave her a harsh scowl to show that he wasn't liking that he was not only kept in the dark from what this mission was about, but also laughed at. Even when she finished, both of his arms were still crossed and the look on his face told him he wasn't too happy about any of this. Making matters worse, she decided to taunt him about it. To him, that was the last straw. He grunted and grabbed hold of Nidhogg's hilt. "Alright, that's it!"

Before he could run over to her and teach her a lesson she'll never forget, the pieces of grass and leaves started to rustle again. Awww no! Deniel closed his eyes tightly before he could set his eyes on whatever would appear. The last thing he wanted was to see it again and give her more things to laugh at...He hesitantly opened one of his eyes to catch a glimpse of what was going on. The only thing he saw was Alyia beating it, and he was satisfied with that. “You had such fun with the first one want to finish this one as well?” Deniel opened both of his eyes suddenly and looked at the ant. The creature looked like it was twitching in pain from most of his body. Even though he absolutely hated bugs, the last thing he wanted to see was a creature suffer. He scowled again and ran straight for the ant with Nidhogg out of its scabbard. He charged to the face of the ant, holding his sword behind him. Once he got close enough, he slid himself to a stop and impaled Nidhogg right inside the head of the giant insect. His sheer anger towards the three mistakes Alyia had done to him clouded the fear of the bug, so he didn't have a problem looking into his eyes.

He dug Nidhogg out of the ant's head and then looked at his "partner". Now, he didn't even know if he could consider her one. With hate still in his eyes, he angrily walked over to her and held Nidhogg right against her throat. "You keep me hidden in the dark, you laugh at my fears, and you dare make a creature suffer before my eyes! What do you have to say for yourself, "Partner"!?"

Ayia lifted one eyebrow as she heard Deniel’s response to what had just occurred in the garden between the two mages. She knew that this was bound to come at some point. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath she felt the blade along the side of her throat and she knew that one mistaken word would leave her dead. She had to be truthful and unlike her cover to get out of this one alive. Letting out the breath Alyia looked into Deniel’s red eyes. Her mischievous glint in her eyes was gone and the lonely and hurt girl was all that was left. “You wouldn’t have come if I had told you. I really wanted to go on this job, but with you knowing that we would be shrunk down and facing bugs and insects you probably would say no,” Alyia started to talk. All of the fun loving girl was gone for the moment. “I laughed at you because I thought that it was funny that someone so…” The blonde girl stopped talking she could not find a word that would describe Deniel. He was teasing and fun at points in time and sometimes he would be cocky and smartass like, then there were the times when he was serious. Alyia could not find the right adjective to describe him. “You. Could be afraid of something that once was so small. I would expect girls my age and younger to be scared of bug. But not you. I just didn’t expect it. But in the moment it was funny as hell.” Alyia could not stop herself from talking now she was too far into the moment. “And I have no response for my last actions. I like to watch things suffer sometimes. My family died before my eyes and I couldn’t save them. I discovered my powers that way. I didn’t know that I even had them until I watched my village burn to the ground.” Alyia looked away from Deniel and to the ant. “I go every day knowing that the people that pass me by have never felt that pain, have never gone though that suffering, have never been alone for 10 years of their life.” Alyia shifted her eyes back to Deniel. “I hide okay? Behind a girl that loves to pull pranks, a girl that does whatever she wants to, a girl that acts like she doesn’t care. But, what they don’t see is a girl that is afraid of getting close to people only to have them leave her, someone that never had a family, a girl that didn’t have human interaction for the majority of the time that she was by herself.” Turning her head so that she was full on facing the black haired man, Alyia finished her speech, “So I’m sorry that you find what I did indecent and that you feel that it was unfair that I didn’t tell you everything and that I laughed at you. I’m not perfect and why should I have to be? And I will not judge you if you leave right now. I should have never gotten so close.” The young girl closed her eyes as if waiting for the man in front of her to disappear and never talk to her again.

With his blade held right at her throat, and ready to stab it and end her life once and for all, he patiently awaited her response. He didn't seem to get one after a few moments, so he was about ready to just forget it and kill her. In fact, it was the perfect situation. She was 2 centimeters tall: no one could ever find out that he killed a guild mate. Before he could stab her and get it over with, she began her explanation. Her first excuse wasn't necessarily that satisfying for him. There were so many other jobs out there, why would it matter if he didn't want to do this one? His frown retained on his face to show he wasn't satisfied with her answer yet. She wasn't done, though. Her excuse for laughing at him killing the bugs was even worse than pathetic. It was a sad, sad excuse. So far both of her responses only made him more furious and gave him more incentive. Then there was her excuse for making something suffer right before his eyes. In his opinion, that would be absolutely unforgivable. “And I have no response for my last actions. I like to watch things suffer sometimes." Deniel was about ready to stab her right then and there after she said that. It was probably the most disgusting and vile thing he had ever heard from a person. He pulled back Nidhogg, getting ready to stab her and get it all over with. "My family died before my eyes and I couldn’t save them."

Deniel stopped his blade and his actions when he heard what she said. "Hm?" To him, this wouldn't necessarily stop what he was about to do, but there was no sense into listening to her story. "I didn’t know that I even had them until I watched my village burn to the ground.” Upon hearing the words "village burn to the ground", a sudden ill feeling of regret came over Deniel. Why was he so concerned about that? And why did he care? He lowered his sword and listened in on the rest of her explanation. “I hide okay? Behind a girl that loves to pull pranks, a girl that does whatever she wants to, a girl that acts like she doesn’t care. But, what they don’t see is a girl that is afraid of getting close to people only to have them leave her, someone that never had a family, a girl that didn’t have human interaction for the majority of the time that she was by herself.” As much as he didn't want to admit it...he was kind of like her. He kept himself hidden, he likes to be mischievous towards people, he did whatever he wanted, and he especially acted like he didn't care. Deniel was afraid of people getting close to him from fear of being backstabbed, he never knew either of his parents, and he only interacted with Virgil throughout his life. It was an interesting feeling, knowing that they both shared something.

He sheathed Nidhogg inside of its scabbard and the frown on his face completely vanished. "Humans...you are so...peculiar. Never before have I been so close to one, and never before have I had one so related to me." Deniel had a weird feeling inside of his stomach, something that he had never felt before. As if being guided by instincts, he dropped his sword and pulled both of his arms around the short blonde mage. He brought Alyia close to him, embracing her in a hug. He had just threatened her life, it was the least he could do.

Alyia froze at the sudden contact from the man who had just threatened to kill her and opened her eyes. He was hugging her. She closed her eyes as a single tear escaped her eyes and she hugged Deniel back. There was someone else who understood her pain and didn’t leave her. She stood there hugging her partner for a couple minutes before letting go. “We have to go. We have to find that ring.” Alyia wipes her eye where the salt from the single tear had fallen and dried. “Hopefully we won't be running into anymore bugs, before we find the ring,” the short blonde said as she looked at the ongoing garden. It was big when she was normal size and so now that she was much shorter it was like and entire forest. ‘And we have to get to the back of it.’ “We can’t take anymore time getting going, with the pace that we are going now it will take us all day and some of the night to even get to where the tomatoes are and find the ring.” Alyia took another step away from Deniel. She bent over and tried to pick up the encased sword. “And you might need this,” Alyia said as she tried to hand the scabbard encased katana to Deniel, but the only problem was that she couldn't even pick up the sword. A smirk started to appear on her face, an old habit that she might just have to get rid of, "There is something wrong with your katana. I can't seem to pick it up." With that Alyia turned away from her partner and continued in the right direction of the tomato plants. She thought back to her comment about bugs and frowned. With her luck holding up like it usually did that comment would hold no truth. She knew that this mission was going to be full of surprises. With this knowledge Alyia grabbed her hair and pulled it back into a ponytail.

He didn't know why he hugged her, or why it made him feel good on the inside. All he was doing was encasing her in his arms, what was the big deal about it? Deniel, being the ignorant Nephalem he was, had no idea. He had also failed to understand why Alyia shed her single tear. He had no longer threatened to kill her, what was there to cry about? Humans are so...weird. Putting everything aside, he nodded about her remark and thought on the fact that it might take them too long to reach the tomatoes. Hmmm. I think I might finally have to show her my magic. He looked back down at her, almost amused to see that she was trying to lift up Nidhogg. "There is something wrong with your katana. I can't seem to pick it up." Deniel bent down to pick up Nidhogg off the ground with seemingly zero effort. "Actually, that shows that there's nothing wrong with it. No one can lift it up except me, Alyia dear." He chuckled and followed after her to the direction of the tomato gardens. That's when the thought of him simply flying them there came to his mind, She knows who I am, she knows where I am, and she's made contact with me. What's the harm in a little magic?

Deniel received his answer when a strong wind storm started to hit the leaves and pieces of grass around them. The wind was blowing in the direction they were going, so the source had to have been behind him.  Deniel frowned and turned around with his coat blowing in the opposite direction. The wind was strong, but no where near strong to make him flinch. He looked up towards the sky to see two giant beetles coming down straight for them. Well, they wouldn't be giant if the two weren't so small. This time, Deniel wasn't paralyzed in fear nor did he scream like a girl. Instead, he looked back at Alyia and gave her a wink. "You wanna' see what your Ace is capable of!? Watch!" As the giant beetles began to descend on Deniel's location, he ran straight to them and leaped in the air. In the path created between Deniel and the beetles, a huge red magic circle appeared right in front of Deniel's path, and he went straight into it. When his body went in one end and out the other, he was completely changed.

His entire body was no longer covered in skin nor clothes, but black scales. From his shoulders down to his toes, he was nothing but black layered scales. The skin on his head turned completely grey, and his red eyes showed to signs of white or black; they were simply read. In addition, his black hair was now spiked back instead of brushed down. Both of his hands had razor-sharp claws on them, and if he ever showed his teeth, only fangs would be there. His combat boots were still on, but they reached up to his knees now with two golden spikes on each of them. Around his chest was a belt-like armor plate that covered his chest and back all the way around. And then, there were two black shoulder pads perched atop his shoulders. Deniel was also granted his own pair of wings with his form.  Ironically, these wings resembled that of a bug, and even more ironically: these beetles. Not just Deniel, but also his katana Nidhogg had also changed. It went from being a black katana, to a giant curved broadsword  with demonic skin on its center and red eyes all over it.

With his new pair of wings, Deniel managed to stay in the air just as soon as the beetles were coming to him. "RAH!" Deniel bared his teeth at the beetles, showing off his razor sharp fangs. The battle seemed like it would be a dead even one. Instead, it lasted a mere two seconds. One second the beetles were coming straight at Deniel, the next second both of their bodies were brutally cut in half, and falling harmlessly to the ground. Deniel's new blade, Armageddon, was soaked in their blood to show that it was him who did the job. Deniel was left flying in the air, his beetle-like wings rattling like a hummingbird. He looked down at Alyia standing on the ground with his pure red inhuman eyes. He gave a growling bellow at her and swooped down as if he were going to attack her. Instead he landed right in front of her and beckoned her to do something with a jerk of his neck. "Hop on, we have a ring to find!" His voice had changed significantly, almost sounding like a completely different person, and every word he said had anger put into it.

Alyia was frozen in place as soon as Deniel had said dear. She could expect something like that to come from Katherine but not from him. It was something that just didn’t fit his stature. When she had finally gotten over him calling her deal he had gone and winked at her. She again froze on spot but snapped out as she watched him destroy the bugs. He seemed to have finally used his magic. It was cool. He had wings on his back that looked somewhat like the beatles that he had just gone off to fight and black scales were now his skin. His hands were now claw like and his usually brushed down hair now stood up in spikes. He had Take-over magic. Alyia enjoyed that type of magic because it allowed people to have different forms and different magics. Alyia looked closely at Deniel as he fought it seemed like he was fighting with a new weapon that she had never seen before. ‘Unless his katana changed as well.’ Looking around the ground for his weapon Alyia could not find it. It seemed as if the weapon changed as well when Deniel used his take-over. ‘That is so cool!’ There was nothing about the transformation that scare Alyia or that she didn’t find cool.

Alyia watched as the beatles fell from the sky and landed on the ground with a thud.  She looked at them. They were cut right down the center splitting them right in half. Seeing the beatles Alyia looked back up at Deniel only to find him flying down at her with speed of an attack. Was he going to kill her? She closed her eyes and held up her arms for protection even though it would probably do nothing to stop him. But Alyia never did feel an impact. She looked up and saw her partner right in front of her in all of his dark like glory. "Hop on, we have a ring to find!” The voice came from Deniel but did not sound like his normal voice. ‘Did his voice change with his transformation too?’ The petite blonde mage was surprised, from her knowledge that usually didn’t happen with take-over mages. But, without another thought Alyia walked up to her partner and climbed onto his scaly winged back. Her hands ran over the scales in wonder they felt warm under her touch. Did it make it harder to move? Did they feel different to Deniel or could he not tell?

Once he felt Alyia clinging on to his back, he shifted his shoulders a bit and looked back at her. "Hold on tight!" The pieces of black scales lifted themselves up along with the wings. His beetle-like wings began to rattle, creating a small gust around himself. After speeding themselves up and rattling, Deniel lifted himself off the ground with the power of his wings, and took off. He started by flying above the blades of grass, and then flew even higher so the two of them could have a good view of the entire garden. Deniel scanned the area, looking for the tomato part of the garden. Before he could spot it, he heard rattling behind him, ones that weren't from his wings. In fact, it sounded more like buzzing. He turned his head to see a giant wasp heading straight for them. "Hold on tighter..." he said to Alyia, turning to the wasp, "This could get rough." Deniel, who had been carrying his sword in his left hand, tossed it to his right and bared his teeth at the approaching wasp. "RAAAGH!" The wasp came straight for them, and like he had been flying all of his life, Deniel dodged the attack by jerking his body to the side. It was a rough one, which is why he told Alyia to hold on tight. The wasp turned itself around and started to head back for them.

Deniel grabbed his blade with his other hand. With the angle the wasp moved, Deniel was higher up in the air than it was, and it was moving straight for him. Deniel stood completely still in the air, waiting for the last possible moment. He clenched his teeth and tensed up his shoulders. As his body grew in further danger, the wings on his back began to make louder sounds. At the last possible moment, Deniel finally made a move: he slashed his sword horizontally, vertically, and then thrust his sword forward. Once his sword was stabbed forward, the wasp's head was seen impaled right on it. Then, it's body separated into four even pieces, with the part Deniel stabbed being the center of it all. The pieces fell harmlessly to the ground, and Deniel was still flying. "Alyia, are you holding up okay?" He looked back at his partner, which he didn't keep track on since he took flight.

All Alyia knew was that one moment she was hanging onto Deniel with her life and the next she was covered in a red tinted clear liquid. She had listened to him when he told her to hold on tightly. And she did. But after that first jerk her grip was slipping on his skin. The scales were no help. If anything they made it worse. She couldn’t get a firm grip after she slipped due to the smoothness of the scales. She had held on just barely though the battle but it was when he had finally struck the wasp dead that she had fallen off at the movement. She had seen the wasp fall into four pieces before she was enfolded in green once again. Why was she not hurt? You can thank the plant that she had crushed on her way down. On her way down from her high she had closed her eyes and waited for the impact of the dirt ground to knock her out or maybe even kill her. But, instead of the hard ground she had found herself going through a ripe fruit of a plant. It slowed down her fall but as she hit the fruit she had knocked it to the ground with her. Resulting where she was at that minutes. On the ground covered in a red tinted clear liquid.


Getting a hold on herself Alyia stood up and tried to get as much of the liquid off her as she could. It was more like honey and it stuck to her making her all slimey. With a groan Alyia reached behind her and grabbed her hair attempting to ring it out.  A few drops of the liquid fell to the ground and the blonde breathed out in aggravation. Giving up on clearing herself of the liquid Alyia looked around to gather her surroundings. Everything was still green. Nothing seemed to have changed. With a sigh Alyia looked down at the ground to see what she had landed on. It was red and had a thin skin around the bottom. There was chunks of squishy red matter littering the ground around. The blonde had no idea what it was. With a growing curiosity the blonde girl climbed a nearby plant so that she could see the fruit that she had landed on from above. Reaching a good height Alyia  looked down at the ground below her. With a gasp she realized just what she had landed on. It was a tomato! With a large smile gracing her face Alyia climbed higher up the plant that she was initially climbing to see if she could wave down her partner.

Reaching the top of the plant Alyia covered her eyes at the brightness of the sun. Allowing her eyes to adjust she looked around in hopes of spotting her bug like partner.

Deniel was heavily disappointed, almost sad, upon seeing that his partner was no longer with him. "Oh no..." He started to panic and breathe heavily. She could have died at the height she fell at. What she okay!? Should he go look for her? All of these questions popped into his head. Like everything else, it was unfamiliar. He had never been responsible for something like this, or have gotten so close to someone. Because he got close to her, he felt something else, but this was familiar. Grieving. He grieved the loss of his mentor, Virgil, once before, and he couldn't bear to lose her as well. Before he could swoop down and see if he could find her, a shadow quickly flew overhead above him. Deniel suddenly looked up to see a mockingbird flying high above him. However, what it was carrying inside of his mouth was much more important. "The ring!" Deniel looked down to the ground and then back up at the mockingbird. Find Alyia, get the ring? Find Alyia, get the ring? Find Alyia, get the ring!? He knew he was probably going to regret his choice, but if Alyia was still alive, she would wait or him.

Deniel changed his direction to the mockingbird flying overhead. With his rattling wings, he took off after the bird nearing his full speed. Deniel was still small, but he was still a fast flyer. He reached the bird in no time, and upon hearing the noise, the bird turned around. It had never seen something like this before: a scaled beast with beetle wings? It was extremely confused, but it didn't have time to react. With his immense strength, Deniel rammed straight into the mocking bird and started to push it to the ground. Luckily for Deniel, he managed to push it in the tomato area of the garden: the place where Alyia was which he didn't know. He was too focused on fighting the bird anyway. The mockingbird spat out the ring and Deniel jumped off of it. "COME ON!" He bared his teeth at the bird like he did the other creatures he fought, and got himself ready to throw down with it.
