Cirven sat in his room inside the guildhall at a loss for words and himself. "Can I really protect them at my current level of power..?" He looked at his hands and then removed his sword from its sheath and stared at it. He felt incompetent in doing what he had promised to do; protect those he cared about. On top of that, he did not know what he could do to get stronger. He dropped his sword and clenched his fist in anger. "I can't be that person to protect her or anyone! Why am I even a mage!?" He yelled out.

"You need help again, boy?" Cirven's eyes widened from hearing a voice and he looked all around him but couldn't find anyone. "Have you already forgotten my voice?" The voice let out a chuckle. Cirven felt as though it was coming from his own mind. "Maybe I waited too long to speak to you again." Cirven picked up his sword and readied himself by standing up with his sword out in front of him in both hands. "Who are you?! Where are you?!" The voice laughed again.

"Getting a little aggressive there, are we? Sorry to let your hopes down but I'm already dead, boy. I doubt you could kill me anyways if I was still alive. The difference in power is a major factor but seeing as I'm the same person who saved you all those years ago after your parents died, it would be a lot harder to do." Cirven suddenly remembered the voice that guided him after the massacre that happened to his village. It guided him to grab the Kukan and what dragon scales he could find that his father had left behind.

"Why are you back now? And how am I hearing you if you are dead?" Another laugh was heard escaping the voice "Just full of questions, aren't you? I will answer everything you have to ask if you travel to your mother's home outside of Magnolia." Cirven's grip tightened over his sword. "Why the hell would I believe some voice that I don't even know I can trust?" "Because you want power and I can unlock such power for you just like I did for your mother in the past." Cirven's heart missed a beat at the mention of his mother.

"My mother..." The voice cut him off before he could continue. "No more questions, boy. I will be waiting there for you." Cirven reached out his hand in an attempt to stop the voice from leaving but quickly felt like an idiot because he didn't even know if the voice could see him or if he reached the right way. After he thought it over about going and not going he reluctantly decided to go. It wasn't so much for the power that could be given to him but for the mention of his mother.

He traveled alone to some woods just outside of Magnolia where he found the small wooden house he lived in with his mother. It looked like it hadn't been touched ever since he left with his father years ago. He opened the door and went inside where he ran into a spider web and quickly flung his hands around like crazy in an attempt to get them off of him. He felt as if the entire home was covered in webs and he wasn't very fond of any type of insect really. "Hey voice guy! I came here like you said but where are you!" He yelled out as he felt like he ran into countless more webs.

He grunted in annoyance. "Why the hell am I here?! Why do I get the feeling that this whole voice thing is just some sort of personality that I thought up after losing my mother and father?!" He lifted his hand up into a fist and swung at the nearby wall. "Hey! Cut it out! I live here you know!" The voice yelled out at him but still no one was around Cirven. "Oh, you stole my home? Come out or I'll burn it down!" Cirven used his magic and the fire dragon scale the Kukan was holding to change the Kukan's form into its fire form, Vulcan.

"You want to use your magic to destroy your own memories? You really are weak, boy. Memories are going to be a big reason why I even help you." The voice suddenly came from behind him and felt to not be in his own head this time. He quickly turned around to see a dog like being.

    Spoiler:

"What the hell are you?" Cirven looked at the beast and held out his sword between them. "Well... I'm Inuki, a dog demon." Cirven went into a sort of euphoric state and slashed down his blade through the dog causing fire to spread in the home. The dog was unharmed but the surrounding area had caught fire. "You idiot! I told you I was already dead! Now put that out quickly!" The dog yelling at him snapped him back into himself and he quickly changed forms of the Kukan to the Kaikias, ice form. He then used the blade to stop the flames.

"You are pretty dumb you know that?" The dog used its back leg to scratch its ear as it spoke. "Didn't even wait for an explanation. Least your mother instead tried to hug and hold me after she finally saw me." Cirven couldn't believe what he was hearing. "My mother would never do that with the likes of something so disgusting and evil." The dog shook its head. "She did it with you, long ears. You never wondered why you and her both had such long ears compared to others? Did it never cross your mind that you weren't fully human?" Cirven's eyes widened in surprise. "It finally hit you? You are part demon. You are my descendant and the way you are seeing and hearing me is through the blood you share with me."

"It can't be true..! Our ears were just something different from others! Thats what mother always told me!" He stopped speaking and thought about what he had just said. "She was telling me I was more than just human then wasn't she...?" The demon dog nodded to him. Cirven stayed quiet in thought. "Your mother was just like you; Part demon and part human. She used her abilities as both to her advantage with the magic that I taught her."

"And you want to teach me the same magic? Why did you wait so long to help me like this?" He finally spoke up to the spirit of the demon. "Do you really think after losing your mother and father the way you did that you were ready to be introduced to your origins? I let you go and live with other humans so that you shaped into who you were meant to be without your demonic power. I did the same with your mother and taught her around the same age as you are now. I have been watching you though from a distance though so in a sense I never left." Cirven knew he was right. He couldn't have dealt with knowing there was a spirit of a dead demon inside of his head helping him then. He thought of what did he have to believe the dog on but there was something he felt inside of him that helped him see that the dog was telling the truth. "So.. What now then?"

"Well.." The dog smiled showing all of his teeth. "Its time I passed on the lineage your mother left behind for you. Are you ready?"

"First things first. You need to gain the same power your mother had in the past." The dog demon used his nose to point to the front door. "What you are looking for is not in here, least not anymore." The demon spirit walked towards the door after speaking.

Cirven still felt weird for listening to a demon, one of the things he had vowed to fight against. It was going completely against his views to do so but for some reason he felt as if he could trust everything the dog was saying even though he still could barely believe that he was part demon.

"Where do I have to go exactly, mutt?" He followed as the dog growled at the name he called him. "You are like your mother with having a sharp tongue. This will be fun training you just like it was when I trained her."

The blue-haired boy raised an eyebrow to the comment but kept on following. He was lead to the side of the house where his mother's grave was. "Mother.." He stopped in his tracks as he saw the grave. "Yeah, she chose a weird place to keep what she left behind for you. It is pretty reminiscent of how she got it the same way though." The demon lifted up his paw and pointed at a tree near the grave. "Check that tree for a surprise."

Without speaking a word Cirven went to the tree and looked at it while feeling it with his hands. A piece of the bark moved slightly at his touch so he then used his finger to pick at it more. He managed to get some of his fingers to move the piece of bark and reveal a hidden compartment. Inside the compartment was a necklace with a white crystal.

"I remember mother wearing this once." He spoke out as he stared at it. "Yup. That there is the Lacrima that will give you your new powers. It only reacts to people that share my blood and awakens their power as a Demon Slayer." Inuki moved closer to Cirven and sat down. "Touch it so we can get started."

Cirven looked at the pendant and then to Inuki who gave him a nod as if telling him that it was OK to touch and clearing his mind of any fear. He knew that it was his mother's in the past and that helped in his decision. He reached out and picked the pendant up and felt a rush of power flow through him but with it came an immense amount of pain. So much so that Cirven fell to one knee while holding the pendant. The pain rushed through his body for what felt like hours but was only happened for less than a minute.

Once the pain stopped the sixteen year old felt different. He craved to eat something that he had never wanted to eat before. He placed the pendant back into the compartment in the tree and closed it. He then made his way back to the house near by and found a book of matches. He lit the match and stared at it before sucking in the small amount of flames it gave off. After eating the flame he focused for a second and then lifted his hand up and caused white flames to engulf it.

"This might take some getting used to.." He stared at the flames that had engulfed his hand.
