Alexei stood at the foot of a great mountain, watching the sky. It had been almost a year since he'd seen this sky; the sky around the Corrupt Tower was always bleak and red like this, regardless of the actual time. A side effect of the corrupt magics always flowing through the tower, he supposed. The last time he'd been here, he had been leaving to see his town with Vivian; at the time, he'd never have suspected that he would be locked out of the tower.
He'd tried the front door at first; after all, he was a regular here for several years, so they must remember him. They wouldn't let him in, however; something about confidentiality and all that. Still, his notes on Steelshift were there; if he was to figure out a way to use it along with his Slayer Magic, he would need those notes. The scholars had likely taken them, using them to power whatever foul experiment they were performing this time. That would mean they were in the library; if he were to get that far, he'd need help.
That's why he had sent a help request to a Dark Guild for help. Legal Guilds didn't like to get anywhere near here, he knew; plus, a Dark Guild member would have no qualms with what he wanted to do afterwards. He'd sent a request to a specific member, as well; Blane had told him of the Metal God Slayer, an evil being who destroyed as he was told by his God. A metal menace like him would both have a vested interest in Alexei's Steelshift, and enjoy beating down opponents. He didn't know the Metal God Slayer's name, but that wasn't particularly necessary; Alexei had no intention of becoming overly chummy with him, although his chaotic antics might prove interesting. So here he was, waiting for his assistance to arrive, lazily watching the black clouds in the red sky.
