Face Claim: Ryuji Suguro – Blue Exorcist
Name: Hirai ‘Rai’ Draciel
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Birthday: 18th July
Sexuality: Straight
Special Characteristics: Both of his ears have numerous piercings including larger ones on the lobes, the middle of the outer part of his ears and at the top of his ears. He also has several bolt-like piercings running up the back of his arms up to just below his elbow.
Personality:
If anyone was to describe Hirai in one word it would be stubborn. If he feels strongly about something then he will not budge whatsoever and, if necessary, he will fight to ensure his point is taken seriously. He’s not afraid to stand his ground against even stronger adversaries, often putting himself in considerable danger but, more often than not, prevailing in getting his voice heard and almost always getting back to his feet. His stubbornness doesn’t just appear out of a selfish mind-set though. His devotion to a cause is nearly unparalleled and if he sets his mind to protecting a friend, a client, an innocent or even a city then he will refuse to back down until the brink of death – although don’t expect him to make any cheesy comments about being a ‘hero’ and protecting the innocent. This attitude stems from his ambition to be the best there is and to make a huge name for himself in the hopes that, one day, his adoptive father will hear of him wherever he’s gone into hiding and return. This ambition is not one that will cause him to disregard his allies however. Whatever team, guild or group he is a part of, Hirai will strive to have them held in the highest regard. Of course this does clash with his personal ideals on occasion. He will do anything to ensure his guild is treated with respect. Anyone who causes the guild to be ridiculed will get everything they deserve no matter how highly they may think of themselves.
Despite all his ambitions, stubbornness and his flaws, Hirai isn’t without genuine compassion – he just doesn’t show it openly. He is stupendously protective of those he considers ‘friends’ and while he may not offer a shoulder to cry on, he’ll offer his full power to destroy anyone who harms those friends either physically or emotionally. Again, don’t expect him to come out with anything cheesy or soft. Speaking of destroying people, Rai is ruthless in battle. His physical prowess courtesy of his Iron Dragon Slayer magic combined with his natural speed and the Lightning Dragon Slayer Lacrima implanted into his body makes him a fast and powerful opponent who can quickly overwhelm and destroy his opponents, while the Iron magic itself makes him physically harder to break down than most, giving him the ability to play the long game when necessary. It is this ruthlessness and his recklessness that makes the Dragon Slayer rather a bad choice to have under anyone’s leadership as he will often disregard any orders given unless he completely agrees with them. If he doesn’t like someone then he won’t listen whatsoever.
Oddly enough though his ability to lead is actually quite impressive courtesy of the fact that he often fights solo. Despite his often reckless attacks they are almost always planned long in advance, showing he can be quite the tactician when he puts his mind to it. Combining that with his general attitude and he makes a surprisingly good leader in combat, although his ability to stay in the leadership role is far from perfect. It’s difficult to shout out orders when you’re busy wrecking things.
Likes:
- Thrash Metal: Brutally heavy and insanely fast. Whether he’s listening to it or playing it, either way it’s exactly what Rai loves in life.
- Heavy storms: Rai loves heavy storms and will often sit out in them to meditate as the rain soothes his body and the thunder and lightning clear his mind.
- Proving his power: Rai loves to show off his power and show he’s more powerful than somebody. However he is respectful to those who put up a solid fight and make him pull out all the stops.
- Spicy food: Rai loves spicy food and seems to be completely unfazed by the spices regardless of how hot it may be.
- Soft cheese: The irony being that he hates soft or cheesy one-liners.
Dislikes:
- Vehicles: Whether they be trains, cars, boats or large creatures intended for transportation, Rai HATES any type of ‘vehicle’ as it sets off his motion sickness.
- Sweet foods: Cakes, cookies, chocolate…anything sweet is a no-no.
- Weak people: This doesn’t necessarily mean physical strength so much as mental and emotional strength. Rai finds nothing more annoying than a crybaby who won’t achieve anything due to being too struck with fear to step out of their comfort zone and actually try to live life to the fullest. Of course, weak opponents are equally as frustrating.
- False people: On the opposite end of the spectrum to the weak people there are the false people; those who big themselves up and claim to be great – often holding some type of a title – but fail to live up to their claims. People like this deserve every hole that’s put through them.
- Rules: There is only one rule in life and that is to respect life. Any other rules are simply guidelines.
- Killing: Taking a life should be an absolute last resort, partially because it’s just wrong and partially because - in the case of criminals – death is a release, not a punishment.
Motivations:
- To be the strongest mage: A simple enough motivation and one that is shared amongst most other mages. Rai intends to prove he is one of the strongest if the THE strongest mage in the world. He may not ever get there, but no-one got anywhere in life from aiming low.
- To have all dark mages punished accordingly: Sometimes people are too lenient or perhaps too scared to punish dark mages. Some people kill the mages rather than have them serve a punishment. Hirai feels that dark mages should at least atone for their sins appropriately.
- To become a Wizard Saint: Sure he’s not exactly a ‘Saint’ per se, but Rai wants nothing more than for Fiore to prosper. He also feels that some of the current Wizard Saints are undeserving of their spots.
- To take his music to the next level: Rai would love to play his music in front of massive crowds of people and get some money coming in for his efforts.
- Sabertooth: Although he has only just joined the guild Rai is fiercely loyal to the name ‘Sabertooth’ and will do anything he deems necessary to ensure the guild is held in high regard.
Fears:
- Being defeated more than once by a single opponent: Rai can grudgingly accept defeat once, but losing twice shows that he lacks something. The thought of him failing at the same thing more than once scares him.
- Wool: Rai has an irrational fear of wool. Where it stems from is completely unknown. All he does know is that it feels awful and soft and the sound is enough to make him flee the country. [/exaggeration]
- Being alone: While he may enjoy his own company more than the company of others Rai still fears being left completely alone and having everyone walk out of his life.
