Face Claim: Minerva from Fire Emblem
History:
Years ago, a mercenary hailing from Dawn City set out for the first time. Jackson Crohil traveled the land and saw the various guilds that were available. On his journeys, he found that he had no interest in joining any of the dark guilds, as he had nothing against the Magic Council, and did not want to waste energy opposing it. Furthermore, was came to dislike the morals and ideals of the legal guilds, and decided that wanted more freedom than he would have with the Rune Knights. Unhappy with all choices available, he remained guildless.
Slowly Jackson found allies to join him on his missions, one of the four that made up his team was a woman by the name of Aysen Pirani. The two would eventually fall in love and marry. Before that happened, however, the members of the team decided they wanted to be more than just a small team of guildless mercenaries. They settled down in Dawn City, a place they decided was far enough from any guildhall to make finding work easy enough, and founded the Dawn City Union. Often simply referred to as the Union, it became a group for guildless mercenaries. The headquarters provided cheap food and housing, a place to find jobs and allies, and a place to train between missions. The Union had no morals or ideals, no additional rules to follow, and no markings to denote who was in it. It offered no kinship either, unlike many guilds. It was, in essence, a simple worker's union. Over time, it grew in power and wealth, becoming only slightly smaller than most guilds. Shortly after its golden age, however, the Dawn City Union would disband.
Jackson and Aysen married and retired from doing jobs when Aysen became pregnant with Emilia, although they still continued living in the guild headquarters and leading the guild. With her parents living with a group of mercenaries, Emilia certainly had an interesting childhood. At an early age she began learning to fight with various weapons, maintains weapons and armor, gamble, and manage money. By far, however, fighting was her favorite activity. She would train often with her father, a skilled fighter and practicioner of Force Magic, a type of magic that revolved around exerting forces through magic, enhancing forces exerted physically, and absorbing and transferring forces exerted on oneself and allies.
While she trained and learned new things about combat at home, Emilia developed a bad habit of practicing in school as well, usually against boys who thought they could take on the small girl. They were often proven. Emilia's pugnacious attitude got her into trouble often and earned her little friends. It was true that she often fought bullies, but she also was one in school as well, having fun picking on kids who were too fearful to fight back or even tell an adult.
When Emilia was 12 years old, the other two leaders of the Dawn City Union were killed while on the job. After two years of trying to maintain the Union without them, Emilia's parents gave in, and let it disband. Keeping the old headquarters with hopes to restart it someday, they move to Magnolia Town. There Emilia continued to grow and train. As she grew older, her pugnacious attitude faded a bit, since she was able to use up more of her energy on more difficult training. One day, the now 14 year old Emilia met a boy named Eli Validus. The two had similar mindsets, and began to play, fight, and do almost everything together, becoming fast friends, though Eli never met Emilia's parents. Having learned the very basics of magic at 13, and having a good amount of physical fighting experience under her belt, Emilia's father gave her his personal weapon: a powerful weapon that took the form of a mace/flail combination, with an extendable cable and handle that allowed it to be a one-handed or two-handed mace or flail. While the weapons was magical in origin, it was also attuned to its previous owner. This attunement would make it seem much weaker than it was for anyone but Jackson. He had named it Trauma, and decided to give it to Emilia when he felt that she was ready to go out on her own to work as a mercenary, as she had always wanted. He gave her no money, though, wanting her to start off in a similar way she did. Her father secretly hopes that one day she will bring back the Dawn City Union.
Now, with Trauma from her father, Emilia set out to explore the world, taking her friend Eli along with her. The two adventured together guildless for nearly 9 years, maintaining themselves between jobs through gambling and Eli performing magic shows and conning others out of their money. Emilia had never been one to focus on her magic, so, despite nearly 9 years of adventuring, she was still only a D-rank mage when guild leader Zenshinconvinced nagged Eli into joining Sabertooth, to Emilia's advantage, as she had long wanted to join a guild, mostly for money and protection.
She has made a few acquaintances and friends in Sabertooth, including Brielle McCloud, Hikari Shirokawa, and Adelheid Faustus. So far she has completed two jobs, one stopping a foolish vulcan and goblin from blockading a railroad track out of Clover Town, and another in looking into the disappearance of several Rune Knights, and encountering a strange horror. So far, she has changed little from her old habits.
