Hamano Masato is a hermit that nowadays live in the Serene Cliff. He is old and grumpty, yet sharp and wise. He has lived for centuries here at this tranquil place and watched humanity. But it hasn't always been like this...
Hamano doesn't even remember how long it was himself, but a long, long time ago Hamano was a happy young and strong boy, with two kids and a wife. He lived in a small village, specifics unknown. Hamano often worked on the fields and helped the townspeople, and as his power grew he also protected the village against dangers. The people respected him and he had the best time of his life.
Then, one day, everything was ruined... Zeref came to visit their small village. Hamano had not heard of what Zeref had done to the other villages, so he faced Zeref. Never had he seen such destruction, and never had he been defeated before. Just by making a gesture with his hand, Zeref lowered the whole village. Hamano tried to stop him but he couldn't do nothing. With pain and anguish in his mind he recklessly threw himself at Zeref. After that his vission blurred and everything went black.
The next day, Hamano woke up to find the whole village dead and burned down. Among the dead he also found his wife and children. On that day, Hamano swore to get vengeance on Zeref, one or another way. Since then, Hamano have preserved his life using the knowledge he has obtained, and wandered around untill he finally settled down at Serene Cliff. Now, he's helping people by giving them advice, hoping that he will one day find someone who knows where Zeref Is.
