It was a cold night in the Savage Skull guildhall. Outside, it wasn't as cold, but for some strange reason, inside the guildhall, it was freezing. Maybe it was the absence of furniture, the fact that the hall in which Janna was in was so high, that it was that cold. Not that she actually minded, cold didn't bother her as much as ice and snow did. The Requip Mage stood on a shadow chair, her hands on her knees, watching in a blank point as she had nothing to do. She was bored, but she wasn't in the mood to actually go out tonight to a bar, or something similar. She was in the mood for a job.
Slowly, she reached over to her jeans' pocket and took out a doubled, crumpled brown-ish and old paper. She opened it and her eyes raced through the lines of the job petition, analyzing what should be done. After finishing the read, Janna was quite convinced that this job was easy, but she needed to bring someone of a higher rank with her. She stratched slightly and thought about the Savage Skull members of higher rank, and who could she ask to come on the job with her. Indar Blackshield, she had not seen him in quite a while. Alleria, a person under her command, was missing too, she couldn't ask Harrigan to come with her. So her mind landed on Aedre.
It was not as if Janna knew Aedre well. They had met in one occassion, which was when Inar Blackshield joined the guild. She didn't think they had talked in another occassion, but still. Janna was willing to try her luck and ask Aedre if she was willing to come on the job with her. Who knew, maybe it was the Requip Mage's lucky day, and Aedre could accept it. Besides, the job wasn't as hard or long, so maybe, just maybe, Aedre would accept.
With a swift, elegant movement she got up from the shadow chair and walked around the hall, looking for Aedre, hoping that she was actually around. Isao, who had been sitting on the ground until now, flew up and sat on on his master's shoulder, as he always did. Janna pet him on the head, and made him a sign to help her with the search for her guildmate.
'' Aedre, are you around?'' Janna asked, and noticed a note of insecirity in her voice, a note that she managed to hide at the instant. She was not used to talk to Aedre, or call her, so maybe that was the reason for her insecurity. She rose her hand and pushed a lock of blond hair behind her ear, waiting for a possible response.

Hand and eyes worked furiously over the fresh piece of parchment, as her other hand held the pages of a faded, old diary. The notes on the diary might have been written ages ago, containing information about.... Nevermind.
Whatever was written in the diary wasn't of much concern right now, for the white-haired woman was busy sketching down the important points down; with a faint hope that it might help her with solving this strange mystery that a certain someone had handed over to her.
For some reason, she had considered it as a sort of mission, a challenge that she had to complete at any cost. She was willing to make the sacrifices, afterall.
'I just blame it on bad-luck.' She thought, almost cursing in her brain, as her eyes started to water due to the strain of going through so much reading since the morning. Yes, she had been stuck with this for the past dozen hours or so... Not the best way of spending your day as a mage- especially as a dark mage.
Roaming the streets without a set destination certainly provided much more fun. Besides, even that came with a bit of... bloody mess.
The woman was just too relentless with her work. One of the many downsides of being a perfectionist.
The papers were pushed aside with a sigh, and the pen slipped out of her fingers as she let out a sigh of exhaustion and simply closed her eyes; while leaning back on the chair.
The fire flickered in the dark room, and the woman's eyes tingled, burned and watered slightly. With a disappointed click of her tongue, she fluttered her eyes open to a blanket of thin smoke issuing from the fireplace.
''Aedre, are you around?''
A faintly familiar voice called out just outside her door, causing Aedre to blink her eyes in curiosity; more so, trying to stop them from watering.
For a single heartbeat, the woman pondered on who it was; only to remember that the number of female mages in the guild was quite low and it was, indeed, a female voice that called.
'It must be her...' She concluded in a hurry, feeling quite sure that she couldn't be wrong. As far as her memory was concerned, the only person who would fit the bill of a female mage and that too; familiar... was Janna.
"Step on board Janna-" She spoke, as the door to the room swung open softly, only with a single movement of Aedre's hand. She was still seated in her chair and only straightened a bit to address the blonde mage.
"-and state you purpose. Its not everyday that I have fellow guildmembers visiting."

Janna saw a door open in front of her. Aedre stood there, and told her to come in and state her purpose, as it was not every day that she got visited by fellow guildmembers. Janna made sure that Isao was still on her shoulder and made her way inside Aedre's room. The first things that caught her eye were a chair and, not too far from it, a fireplace. Her eyes raced around the room quickly, curious, as she managed to get a quick glance on the entire room for no time, and she hoped, that Aedre hadn't noticed her curiosity. She shook her head slightly and turned to look at her guildmate, her green eyes glowing with determination.
'' I was wondering, Aedre, if you'd like to come with me on a job. It's quite an easy job, it shouldn't take too many time, but it requires a mage of higher rank than C... Considering that most other guildmembers of Savage Skull are either of lowe rank or busy, I thought I could ask you.'' Janna said. Her voice was calm, quite indifernt, but at the same time full of respect. Aedre was, possibly, the only person in this guild, besides the guildmaster and Alleria, that Janna respected and feared. She was sure that all of them could destroy her in the blink of an eye, so she tried to mantain herself in good relations with all three of them.
She took out the job request and handed it to Aedre, just in case she accepted. ''It's a bit crumpled and seems old, but it's quite a recent request, I can assure you.If you want to come with me, Aedre, I'll be waiting outside.'' Janna said and bowed slightly. She left the room and got down the stairs to the entrance.
Her pale hand reached the door and pushed it open. In the second she did that, the cold, yet not as cold as in Savage Skull's guildhall, air hit her in the face. She blinked a few times, as the wind quickly managed to dry her eyes. She took her hands to her eyes and rubbed them, and noticed not later after that that Isao was doing the same thing. She sighed and stepped out of the guild, looking around. The wind blew the trees around the Savage Skull guildhall, lifting some of the leaves from the ground. Certainly, she had visited the spooky forest more than once, and well, she had to walk around it on a daily basis, just because the Savage Skull guildhall was in the middle of it. But the Spooky Forest didn't always stand up to its name. There were some parts of it that were quite magical, with flowers, birds and all. The only place Janna was sure that stood up to the forest's name was the place where the Savage Skull Guildhall was at.
And so she sat in front of the guild and looked up at the stars. Since there weren't lights around the place, Janna could see them clearly. Isao let out an amazed sound as he watched the stars, from which Janna got quickly annoyed. Certainly, it was beautful, but to stay like this and watch them for hours? They weren't that beautiful as to captivate the dark mage's attention for hours.
And so she stood outside, waiting to see if Aedre was going to join her. She was hoping so, because if not, she'd be left without the job. It was not as if she needed the jewels, but she prefered going on a job than staying in her cold room, bored out of her mind. Certainly, it was lots better than that.

Aedre's guess was just perfect, for the person who walked in was indeed Janna. A mage who had caught her attention in the very first chance of their meeting. She was along with her when Indar joined the guild and Aedre was no less than fascinated in knowing more of this young woman.
The white-haired woman only raised an eyebrow in question, for she was not exactly used to communicating on a large scale. She noticed the green eyes of her guildmate glancing around the room and couldn't help, but smile gently.
'Someone's curious.' She thought, while carelessly placing her chin in the palm of her hand and listening to Janna speak about the job. She could easily feel the calm in her voice, as well as the respect that laced it; something that made the woman smile inwardly.
Green hues held the crumpled piece of paper in the line of vision for a single second, before taking it over and throwing a quick glance over it. Truth be told, Aedre would have accepted any job at a time like this; since it would be of great help to get rid of the colossal state of boredom that she was going through. Something to de-stress.
Her lips parted slightly to give an answer to the Pillar, but closed down when she noticed Janna bowing and making her way out of the room.
The blonde didn't seem to be in a great hurry, so why did Aedre need to be?
With a calm intake of breath, Aedre read the job request carefully; almost smiling at the luck that Janna came upon this.
'Helping a hysterical ol' merchant... this can be tonnes of fun- except for the heat.' She concluded, while standing up with only a gentle scraping of her chair and walking over the window behind her.
The Slayer pulled open the glass, as she climbed over the window sill with some practiced precision and without another thought; jumped down onto the ground.
Landing with nothing more than a soft thud, Aedre straightened up from the one-legged crouch that she had came down to. Instantly, her eyes started examining around, as if looking for something that was supposed to be in this place.
'Well, let's try this.' With that, the white-haired woman clapped her hands gently, to which; came a reply in a matter of a second.
A low creaking sound of something starting, of some vehicle catching up speed and also the beating of hooves on the ground. A carriage.
A minute or so later, the vehicle pulled from the corner of the castle, stopping right before Aedre; as a young, brown-haired man in the driver's seat bowed slightly.
"Took you some time, eh? Take the carriage to the doors of the main hall- we have someone to pick up..."
"Sure mam." The driver replied, as he led his trusted vehicle to the front of the castle of Savage Skull and brought it to a halt.
From inside, Aedre could see Janna sitting and she gently opened the door to reveal herself inside the carriage.
"Let's go and try to remember the Forgotten Deserts, shall we?"

Janna was amazed as she saw Aedre and a carriage. The blond Requipper got up and took Isao in her hands, then managed to close her slightly dropping jaw due to the amazement. She walked to Aedre and got into the carriage, alongside her guildmate, and looked around. She was still quite not believing that a carriage had appeared so suddenly, without her even noticing, and that Aedre had appeared down without even using the stairs. Janna was more than sure that the Slayer held a terrible amount of surprises for her yet to see. And she was willing to withness the tricks that Aedre held under her sleeves.
Janna shook her head slightly and layed a hand on Isao's head. Her fingers slightly pet his head, and, accidentaly, one of her nails accidentaly caressed the scar over his left eye. The cat shivered, and Janna muttered a sorry, then looked at Aedre, her green eyes quite serious. '' Remember the forgotten desert?'' Janna asked, not quite understanding the question. This, however, was not her biggest problem at the moment, so she shook her head and sighed. '' Considering that the Desert Village isn't that far, we should arrive in a few. Depending on the speed of the carriage, that is.'' Janna said while Isao layed in her lap, acting as an actual pet cat, not an exceed. Well, he wasn't a pet cat, but an exceed. So he shouldn't act like that, but Janna didn't care.
As the time went on, the silence ruled in the carriage. Janna was looking outside the window, as the carriage went through the forgotten deserts, and Isao had fallen asleep in her lap. Janna couldn't care less if it was silent or not, but then again, she prefered having herself in a conversation rather than looking out the window, contemplating the endless sands. A sigh escaped her lips as she remained looking outside.
Suddenly, something hit the carriage. They were a few yards away from the village, but then again, something was attacking them. Janna instantly got up. She couldn't actually hit her head against the roof, she was too short to do that. However, her eyes ran to Aedre, and then to Isao, who had awoken and was desperately trying to climb to his master's shoulder. Janna made him sit in the carriage while she summoned a weapon out of nowhere and looked at Aedre.
'' I suppose some sort of monster is attacking us on the outside. Do you want us to check what it is?'' Janna asked, while she held her katana, the weapon she used most. Her eyes glowed with a sort of caution, and with a will to fight. She was a warrior, and naturally, she was always willing to fight and kill whatever was outside, alas, she was also willing to respect the decision of Aedre. Which meant that, if Aedre didn't want to fight, she wouldn't fight either.

The woman let a natural smile curve up her lips when she noticed the expression of slight awe on her guildmate's features. Only a very few of the guild members ever came to know about the travelling privileges that the guild of Savage Skull held; mostly so since they never bothered to ask. Or maybe because Harrigan never took the bother to inform them. Her eyes observed the feline that Janna carried in her arms; immediately recognizing it as an Exceed, some kind of creature that had a knack of being around Dragon Slayers. Now that she thought about it, the woman never had one approach her when she was a Dragon Slayer... Definitely weird, but comforting nevertheless. She would never prefer to have a talking and flying cat around her- Orel was much better.
"Remember the forgotten desert?" Janna repeated, albeit with a questioning tone in her voice, something that made Aedre suppress a chuckle that was near her lips.
"Well, the forgotten desert is true to its name. People rarely visit the place due to freak incidents and sandstorms; so it has nearly vanished off people's mind. Apparently, it also has some treasure hidden beneath the sands- which have long been consigned to oblivion and only a few people remember it now.... We've got a job that needs us to look for this treaure, hence my odd-sounding choice of words." The white-haired woman tried to clarify, as she heard her partner speak of the estimated time of their arrival.
She only nodded back in reply, while moving onto to look out the window of the carriage and drink in whatever view came in front of her. The silence reigned in the carriage and Aedre could feel that Janna wasn't really enjoying it.
However, what was to be understood was that if there was anything in the world that Aedre was not adept at, it was conversation. She failed to keep it living for long.
On the other hand, there was not much boredom that accompanied the trip, since after a little while, the whole carriage shook violently; almost causing Aedre's breath to hitch in her throat for a single heartbeat.
"I suppose some sort of monster is attacking us on the outside. Do you want us to check what it is?" She heard Janna question once again, while noticing the sword in her hand.
'ReQuip, perhaps?' She wondered, while taking a decision to not translate it to words.
"No. Stay right here." The woman stated bluntly, considering that it won't be safe for the younger female to try an attack at close-range with the carriage still moving.
"Speed-up the carriage William." She ordered, while one of her hands locked onto the door beside her and yanked it open.
The wind gushed in with all its might, as Aedre bent forward slightly to look at the backside of the carriage, trying to figure out what was actually attacking them.
But before she could understand, a huge, black, leg-like thing crashed on the open door, thus breaking it from the hinges that held it to the vehicle.
"Goddamn it." She muttered, while the air around her caught speed, swiveling around her frame in the carriage, as a small orb of incandescent water took birth in her now-joined palms of hand. Still keeping contact between the tips of her fingers, the woman slowly brought separation to her palms; so an onlooker would see a beach ball sized, fluid sphere in her hand. Aedre's eyes shifted onto Janna for a second, as she pulled her hands back from the sphere. It pulsated strongly for a second, before degenerating into twenty streams of water with arrow-like tips. They would all home out of the carriage, while aiming straight for whatever was attached to the back of the vehicle.
A moment later, with an odd shriek like sound; one that was followed by as thud on the sandy ground, the carriage came back to a stable state and also seemed to increase its speed.
Aedre made one more attempt to look out from the door-less side, noticing a colossal-sized scorpion laying on its back and trying to get back up. She sat back properly on her seat, "Giant scorpions that they mentioned in the job sheet. Its still alive, so it might try to follow us now." She explained to Janna, while proceeding to speak to the driver to make it to the village as fast as possible.
But, before she could do so, the carriage came to an abrupt halt and William's voice spoke with a trembling tone to it, "T-There's some kind of a-a-animals in front."

Janna surpressed the surprising lot of curses that were rising in her throat. They were trapped in a circle of monsters. And worse than that, even more monsters were coming. Janna looked at Aedre, and just couldn't hold back anymore. Opening the carriage door, she jumped out of the carriage, and withnessed five enemies around the carriage, three of which basilisks, one normal scorpion and one giant scorpion. She shook her head and quickly covered herself in a veil of shadows, as her magic seal appeared. After a second, with a metal clang, the shadows were removed and Janna launched herself at the small scorpion, two swords in hand and the other ten controled by telepathy. She lifted her two swords, and slashed throught the scorpion, managing to kill it easily, as it was simply a regular scorpion that could do nothing against ten swords coming at it.
However, the basilisks were less than a problem, and heck, they were supposed to be stronger. They were big, nasty, overly-scaled creatures that resembled a mix of a lot of hideous creatures taken in one place. In synopsis, an eeew-mix. Janna was surrounded by all three, and, even though she had 10 swords controlled telepathically and other 2 in her hands, she could hardly keep up with them. '' Ehm, Aedre, some help here? Not doing very fine with three on my head.'' She said, forming a shield with the swords, blocking the creatures' teeth, that tried to pierce her and kill her.
She looked towards the carriage, then at the gigantic scorpion, and managed to withness a small figure beneath the scorpion's Jaw. It seemed like a man. A man from the job Janna had recieved. Her eyes widened and she looked at Aedre, blocking the monsters at the meanwhile. '' Nevermind my last statement, go and save that guy, he's the client!'' She yelled, and one of the basilisk stuck its tooth in her foot. Janna gritted her teeth and kicked the three creatures, and Isao took her out of the circle of death she was in. He landed her not far away from the enemies, and Janna caught her breath, putting a hand against her wound. Without hestiating, she got up and threw herself at one of the enemies, one of the basilisks, trying to avoid the other four.
As the basilisk attempted to strike her with its tail, she made a backflip, directing all 10 swords at it while she landed perfectly, then ran at a high speed towards the basilisk once again, who was being attacked by her swords from different corners, angles, and with a different speed. Janna jumped in the air, and rose her two swords that she controlled manually, sticking them into the back of the basilisk as she fell there. Damn, she thought, I fell far away from my objective. Naturally, she was trying to hit the thing's head, but the back was fine too. She at least fell on a part of its body, and didn't fall on the ground, as she had wished not to happen.

The look in Janna's eyes conveyed some sort of urgency and impatience to Aedre, as she jumped out of the carriage and moved onto attacking the foes that they had encountered.
A smirk graced the white-haired woman's lips, while she thought of her subordinate's actions. That decision was perfect, for if the blonde were to follow Aedre's instruction; she would've been forced to sit and wait inside the carriage.
Not the best choice if you were in a life-threatening situation- since, at a moment as crucial as that; rules or orders are barely of any importance.
The woman swung herself out of the vehicle through the door-less side and at that very moment, witnessed Janna slicing off a scorpion into pieces.
Atleast, the fact that the girl knew how to handle her weapons could be comforting throughout this mission. Or else, there were times when you could get paired with silliest of mages- ones that were incapable of beating off even a fly. A pain in the ass to begin with.
"Ehm, Aedre, some help here? Not doing very fine with three on my head." She heard Janna call out and noticed the three basilisks that she was dealing with. For someone of the blonde's caliber- dealing with such beasts would be a feat on its own.
'Definitely deserves some help.' Aedre concluded, as she snapped her fingers; causing two magic circles to appear on either sides of the three basilisk's heads.
What happened a second later, would leave the creatures as well as Janna, absolutely clueless. Nevertheless, it would be beneficial for ReQuip mage; for it would cause the lizards to scream their throats out and be out of co-ordination for a little while, being far too busy dealing with the excruciating pain inside their heads.
"Bought you some time- now the handling is up to you." She stated, while turning behind to notice the Giant scorpion that they had encountered a few minutes ago. Albeit, now it had arrived with something held mercilessly between its jaws.
With a sigh, the woman locked her eyes on the client, crouching slightly and preparing to lunge at her opponent. Both her arms were enveloped by a swirling mass of blue light; which soon went in a unison with her hand and turned it into a pressurized, rotating, jet of liquid.
With a single blink, Aedre took forward in the direction of the colossal insect, as she slammed one of the water streams into the ground and launched herself in the air.
Two giant slams were all that could be heard, as water splashed all around the scorpion and the streams vanished due to hitting it on the back. The scorpion's grip on the man loosened in that single moment, while its body slammed hard on the ground and the man crawled out. Drenched, but safe.
"I'M SAFE! I'M SAFE!" He yelled at the top of his lungs, making his way straight to the carriage and climbing inside.
'What a dumbass...' The thought echoed in Aedre's mind, as she stared behind him and then traced her vision back to the now-unconscious scorpion.

Janna was thankful to Aedre for the attack she just realised upon two of the basilisks. Not losing any time at all, she rose her swords around her once again, and began using her telepathy abilities to make them spin at a speed impossible to track, to say this. Two heads fell, the heads of the basilisks Aedre had done something to, and she moved gracefully, but furiously towards the last one standing. Crouching a bit, like a cat, she jumped up in the air and rose all her swords. Hoping that her precision was perfect, she released all of the swords, making them fall in a perfect line down the spine of the creature. A scream of agony made the creature seem like an easy pray, and so Janna got the sword she still had left, lifted it, and cut the creature's head. It fell to the ground, dead, and Janna took out all of her weapons from its spine, then walked to Aedre, who appeared to be a bit irritated.
'' Did he enter the carriage without even.... Nevermind. I never expectected much from a guy that lives in a Deserted Village. People here don't seem to have the minimal education as to ask before going into someone else's vehicle.'' She commented with a sigh. She made her 12 swords dissapear and walked towards the carriage, quite happy that she had managed to kill something and get out of that constant veil of boredom she had been in for the last few weeks. She got up in the carriage and made the client a sign, that clearly meant: Out.
The client got out of the carriage hestiantly and looked at Janna in the eyes. At the meanwhile, the ReEquip mage inpected him from head to toe, a move that only needed a quick glance to determine that he was a man that did no or at least near to no physical exercice, that he appeared to be a man of science and study, judging by his clothing, his round glasses and the papers he held in his hand. They were all soaking wet, since he was just near to be eaten by a gigantic scorpion, but still.
She glanced back at Aedre and waited to see if she had anything to say to this guy, while she looked around, as she could sense another monster coming. She took out a dagger, just in case, and looked around, ready to strike if something came at them.
Meanwhile, she hoped that Aedre would deal with that weirdo, who was, well, their client. Her face remained neutral, as she didn't want to show her utter annoyment to the poor guy. Well actually, she didn't care, but then again...

Janna's comment only caused a chuckle to leave the white-haired woman's lips, as she nodded in agreement, "Isolation deprives you of manners, Janna... I mean, look at the members of our guild- perhaps they're the best examples that I can put forth." She stated, obviously hinting at the twisted way their minds worked. Maybe they didn't lack formal manners, but they certainly lacked humane ones.
"To be honest, I don't mind his behavior much; that's what people do when they are under the shade of fear- they forget to care about the rest of the world." Aedre's tone was as if she was stating the most obvious thing in the world... Which, in her own thoughts, was exactly the case.
"You girls have been awesome~ I swea-" He began, but was cut off with a cold gaze from the Slayer's side, "Just get to the point."
Now, the Savages couldn't afford to spend their precious little time listening to a senile man's blabbering.
"-Uh, take it easy, Miss..." He trailed off, obviously trying to inquire of her name. Now, Aedre couldn't blame him; for he was just a curious little client who actually deserved the information.
"Kate." Aedre gave out a fake name, since it was only a matter of common sense that she couldn't give hers or Janna's real names. Afterall, a pair of dark mages helping some old guy wouldn't be good for either of their reputations.
"Oh well, I was thinking it'll be nice if you could help with finding the treasure and also my crew. I'm sure they're alive!" The client spoke, his voice elevating slightly while mentioning his fellow treasure hunters and a grin spreading on his face for a fraction of a meter.
He surely knew how to be cheerful and... stupid. The vanity that some people possessed was really a matter of laughing-stock.
Aedre only nodded back in reply, since she wasn't in a mood to engage in any sort of conversation with this man. However, a burst of particularly warm air, made her pupils dilate in surprise.
The woman turned around with a flutter of her clothes, coming face to face with a strange creature- standing tall at about a dozen feet away from the trio and the carriage. Without a second thought, Aedre immediately grabbed the man by the collar and pushed him straight into the carriage with all her strength. It caught him by surprise; as might have landed back into the vehicle without any sort of warning.
"You see, one of our aims is to keep him alive." The woman stated, as she assumed a fighting stance for the impending battle.

Janna's jaw dropped as she saw the creature near her and Aedre. It was gigantic, for the love of god. Too big, maybe. The ReEquip Mage quickly summoned all of her swords once again, ready to engage a fight, then looked at Aedre, who had pushed their client inside the carriage, to safeness. Janna was worried about Isao, if that client of theirs dared to do anything to her precious pet, she'd decapitate him in a matter of seconds. However, the heat wave bought in by the monster made her get her guard on once again.
The monster was horrid. It was a lion, with the head of a goat arising from its back, and a tail that ended in a snake's head. And not to mention, it was gigantic. Janna looked at Aedre once again, as she had time to do that, since the monster hadn't noticed them yet. '' This thing is coming at us. What do we do, do we attack it?'' She asked, preparing herself to run at it and attack it if needed. However, she doubted really that she'd be able to deal with it all by herself, she certainly needed Aedre for this one. So that's why she was asking the second in command, she'd rather not risk it all by herself.
However, while she was awaiting for an answer, the monster noticed them. Janna tried to go through her memories in order to remember what kind of creature this is. She knew everything about mostly all beasts on the earth, due to her magic, and this one seemed remotely familiar. Then it hit her. With a terrified expression, she managed to remember that this is, quite indeed, a Chimera, one of the strongest and most perillous beasts in the world. The poison that its snake tail had was capable of killing off a normal person in no time. This creature was a real monster, something capable of killing you just with its appearance. A creature almost as terrible as Dragons.
She looked at Aedre for a last time, she dodged an attempt of the Chimera to hit her with its snake tail. She landed on her knees, in a catlike position, then directed all her swords towards the monster's tail. They had to destroy that part first, it was one of the most perillous ones right now. '' Aedre! Let's attack its tail first, its its most perilloous part right now!'' She shouted and prepared to attack in seconds. She jumped, getting off of the ground, rising her swords. She was about to fall into its jaw, she cursed out loud, but then, something caught her. Isao. He held his master and put her down, next to Aedre, sacing her from pure death. '' Thank you.'' Janna mouthed and looked at the monster once again, ready to attack correctly this time.

Janna mouthed and looked at the monster once again, ready to attack correctly this time.

"This thing is coming at us. What do we do, do we attack it?" Janna questioned, making Aedre scrunch up her eyebrows while thinking. She was rarely the one to make the first move in a battle; one could say, she preferred to fight in a counter offensive way. Analyzing and making conclusions before diving into a battle was her forte, yet, at this crucial moment it was not the most favorable for either of the Savages.
The beast was perhaps known as a Chimera, for it was legendary and the white-haired woman could remember reading about it somewhere. Well, that was something she enjoyed anyways, so it won't be a surprise if she was knowledgeable about a couple of things here and there- especially if they were considered a myth by many. Curiosity was pretty manipulative in the case of the Slayer's mind.
"Ofcourse we attack- for we certainly don't want to end up as the prey here." She stated, while observing the callous eyes of the Chimera locked onto them.
Two swords would materialize in Aedre's hand, as she watched Janna trying to attack the creature back when it tried to bite her with its tail; one that actually held the head of a snake- and ofcourse, it was alive.
There won't be much use for a dead snake now, would there be?
Both, the teal and the black sword in the Slayer's hand shone in the light of the bright sun- which tortuously heated the desert like an oven.
A pulse of magical energy would flow through both thw swords, as a burst of dark-blue, ethereal light enveloped them. At the same time, the pupils of Aedre's eyes changed color- one to a raven-black and the other an incandescent cyan. The light on the swords would vanish in a heartbeat, the wielder's eyes- still the same.
In the matter of a split second, Aedre was no longer in her previous position; it was almost as if she simply vaporized into dust. But, surely it wasn't the truth.
If Janna, or any onlooker would take notice, the white-haired woman had appeared right behind the Chimera. She had heard, Janna's suggestion and was ready to put her faith into her subordinate's knowledge.
So, as the creature's lion head was still busy looking at Janna, the snake on its tail hissed at Aedre- nearly biting her in the process of its attempt to attack her.
"Say goodbye to that fancy tail~"
Apparently, the snake and the lion shared the same brain, for the beast was about to turn around. But, at that very moment, Elucidator's blade cut off the snake-head tail with just backhand slash from Aedre; causing it fall on the ground and writhe, while the lion nearly roared in its pain and agony.
The creature has turned around completely by now and lunged at Aedre's position... or well, her previous position. The woman was now, right next to where Janna was standing.
"Which part do you suggest for butchering next?"

Janna growled at the creature. It growled at her in return too. She crocuhed, ready to leap at the creature, in a cat-like position, just like before a few minutes. She watched Aedre cut it's tail off. The creature yelled in pain, and threw itself at Janna. She managed to move away before it hitting her with its sharp lion fangs. Janna noticed that her armor dissapeared, leaving her in her usual clothes, and the Requip Mage leaped backwards, summoning the Black Gryphon Armor with ease. The two black wings that the armor included rose, as she was about to fly up, but the chimera caught her leg with the goat head. Janna let out a painful growl and took her claws up, as she had dropped her sword, scratching the goat's eyes out. The creature dropped her, screaming in agony. She recovered from the fall with ease, and recovered her weapon, taking it up with her hand. Her black claws were stained in blood and other materials that she was too disgusted to recognise, and she cleaned it from the creature's paw, causing it to roar as it was terribly pissed already.
The chimera leaped towards her and attempted to kill her, but Janna immediately activated her flight ability and flew up in the air, away from the Chimera, and then, at high speed, she approached it and passed her sword through the goat head. The black goat head fell to the ground, in a pool of blood, and the Chimera bended down for a second, really, really agonized. '' That was for your stupid attempt to eat me.'' She muttered through her helmet, her voice a bit distorsioned by the metallic surface it passed through.
But then, something strange happened. The creature turned away from Janna and Aedre, as if it had suddenly lost all interest in attacking them, or it prefered keeping its life, and began running away. Janna looked at the Chimera, and, with a growl, took a decision. '' Come on, Aedre! Let's follow this thing, it might lead us to the client's crew, treasure, whatever!'' She yelled. Turning around, she extended her black wings again and began flying after the Chimera, quite worried about the sandstorm that was generating around. She couldn't see a thing, but thankfully, her armor protected her from anything bad. Although, she didn't know if she was going to be able to continue flying with the strong wind that was rising. With a sigh, she put all her force and effort into her wings, getting progressively tired as time went by, and she continued flying against the wind, not seeing a thing, but still trying to follow the chimera. She wasn't going to let it go as easily, no creature was going to escape hers and Aedre's grip alive.
That was the only thing she knew by then, and sinceerely, she didn't care about anything else by that point.

Apparently, the creature considered Aedre a bit too much trouble to handle, as it threw itself at Janna instead. In all its rage and fury, it was only more deadly to deal with. The white-haired woman would've been expected to help her subordinate fight the Chimera at this moment; but, as always, a certain quirk in her personality would come into play here.
Due to the removal of its rather useful tail, the Chimera was not as life-threatening like before, so the blonde could play with it as long as she liked- albeit weakening in it in the process before eventually killing it off.
With the thought of letting Janna handle this herself- mostly so, to prove her worth and strength; the second-in-command would silently observe the battle commence.
The second Janna cut off the goat head, Aedre half-expected her to finish this battle just there and then. But, fate had other plans it seemed.
The Chimera made a sudden dive and ran off in some random direction, almost as if it was scared for its life now. No doubt, he had to be, for the Savage duo had managed to paralyze him quite badly by separating his two buddies from him.
Aedre heard Janna call out to her, suggesting that they follow it, since there was a possibility that the creature led them straight to the crew of their client or the treasure that he sought. Aedre nodded to herself, while letting Janna trail the Chimera- deciding to follow her as soon as she gave off an important instruction to William.
The carriage driver was actually having his head poking from the window-side, watching the blonde mage fly after the beast- his face holding a terrified expression.
Aedre glanced in at the client sitting inside the carriage, comfortably, his thought seemingly in his own la-la land.
"Follow us with the carriage." She ordered bluntly, as at the same time, a pair of raven-black wings would erupt from the base of her shoulder-blades, opening up in full glory. It was a small gift from Orel actually, for he had decided to bind his very soul to Aedre's; due to which she could access and use his powers for herself.
So, with a small jerk of her legs against the ground, the Slayer soared into the heated sky and took up the same direction in which Janna and their foe had left off. The midnight wings would beat on relentlessly against her sides, just like the blades of a windmill, while she caught up with with the ReQuip mage.
The carriage was following close behind, mostly so because the client would be the only one capable of identifying his crew incase, the Chimera really led them there.

Janna continued flying, not caring about the wind, not caring about the weather problems raging around her. Slowly, progressively, the storm would stop, each time Janna could feel its power decrease. After long time of painful, hard flight, finally, Janna felt that suddenly, she could fly in a smooth, easy way, as always, without any difficulties down the road as she flew at a slow speed, which was quite enough to keep up with the Chimera. Now that the creature didn't see her and had its defenses down was the best time to attack it, destroy it, but Janna preferred arriving at its lair first, then finishing it off. Once it was at its lair, she was going to sneak at it from behind, and end its miserable life. Once and for all.
After quite an hour of flying, Janna began getting tired. She was not used in using her ability during so many time, without stopping for a second to catch her breath and take a break. It was not easy flying during 1 hour continuously, even though the wings she had were not real, but artificial. Although, despite that, she can still feel terribly tired if she flies for too many time without stopping for a second. Suddenly, she felt too tired for her own good, and her wings dissapeared. They literally desintegraded in the air. Black feathers began falling and she closed her eyes, as if she fell unconscious, and began falling towards the ground. Before she hit it, Isao caught her, and it was truly a close call, as she was just an inch away from hitting her face. She opened her eyes and placed her hands on the ground, falling on her hands, then on her butt. She took a deep breath. The over-use of energy had made her collapse and lose consciousness for a second. She noticed that her armor was fading and sighed. She guessed she did make use of a lot of her energy. So instead of summoning a specific armor, she summoned the Robe of Yuen. Anything weird or special about this armor? No. It is simply terribly elastic. Which would allow Janna a big possibility of movement. She summoned Aetherion, her most powerful weapon, although it was C Rank, like all other weapons of hers. She began running after the Chimera, despite the fact that she was so terribly tired. Too tired. She sighed as she was not used to put this much effort and power in one hour. It was really rare for her to do this, she usually ended with creatures fast and with ease. But now, she was having serious problem with this.
She suddenly noticed that the creature slowed down and stood up before a cave. A massive cave entrance. Janna heard yells from inside the cave, terrified screams, that had a surprised note in them. The crew. Janna was sure that this was the crew. She approached slowly the Chimera, Aetherion ready to strike, when she heard people pleading to be left alive. No doubt, this was the crew. So that meant that somewhere around them was the treasure. Without wasting barely a second more, she made Isao summon his Aera and he took her up, silently. Catsu released her just when she was above the head of the Chimera, rising her sword at it. The Chimera sensed her, however, and tried to get a bite of Janna, but Isao reacted quickly and took her far away from the reach of the Chimera, releasing him on her back. She sunk her sword in the Chimera's back, making the monster released an agonized scream. Janna's face lit with a smile, as she sunk Aetherion even deeper, and began running up with the sword still sunk in the Chimera-s back, cutting an opening in it. The Chimera couldn't think of agony, she was sure of that. She then took out the sword, and, while the Chimera was too busy cowering in pain, she cut its gigantic head off. With difficulties, earninng a few wounds while at it, but she managed it.
When all of it ended, she fell on the ground, and began breathing hard due to the fact that she put too much effort in this job. She closed her eyes and passed a hand through her medium-length blonde hair with white tips spread around her like a golden veil, as she closed her eyes and regained her powers slowly. She didn't need to look around to know what was happening. The noise was enough to prove to her that the people that were begging to remain alive were the client's supposed-to-be dead crew, and what they hid from the Chimera so long was the treasure. She hoped Aedre was around, and she was glad that this mission ended, because Janna certainly was.
She got up slowly, her entire body hurting. With a slow, agonized pace she walked outside of the cave, the sunlight hitting her. How many time had she been inside the cave? She did not know that. She did not care. Isao stood on her shoulder, happy that they had survived yet another job. Janna smiled at the cat, although it hurt her even smiling. But then again, she was glad too. She was glad that they were fine.
However, this was certainly not the end. Suddenly, storm clouds gathered around the sky, and it began raining suddenly. Her hair got wet quickly, she was like this. Janna rose her hand to cover her eyes as she looked at the sky to see if there was any weird annomaly going on. And then, all out of the blue, a gigantic, storm hand appeared out of the sky and caught her by the waist. She let out a surprised scream as she was dragged towards the sky, alongside Isao, and she looked at the ground, scared. Yes. For the first time in years she was sincerely scared. Terrified.
What happened next might have surprised Aedre, or might not, she might have seen it, or might have not, this didn't matter. What mattered was that a small, half-burnt paper fell near the Savage Skull mage, and remained there until it was read.
She shall return.
