Job: The Desert! (Private, Janna Hovercraft and Aedre) - Page 2 Empty Re: Job: The Desert! (Private, Janna Hovercraft and Aedre)

"This thing is coming at us. What do we do, do we attack it?" Janna questioned, making Aedre scrunch up her eyebrows while thinking. She was rarely the one to make the first move in a battle; one could say, she preferred to fight in a counter offensive way. Analyzing and making conclusions before diving into a battle was her forte, yet, at this crucial moment it was not the most favorable for either of the Savages.
The beast was perhaps known as a Chimera, for it was legendary and the white-haired woman could remember reading about it somewhere. Well, that was something she enjoyed anyways, so it won't be a surprise if she was knowledgeable about a couple of things here and there- especially if they were considered a myth by many. Curiosity was pretty manipulative in the case of the Slayer's mind.
"Ofcourse we attack- for we certainly don't want to end up as the prey here." She stated, while observing the callous eyes of the Chimera locked onto them.
Two swords would materialize in Aedre's hand, as she watched Janna trying to attack the creature back when it tried to bite her with its tail; one that actually held the head of a snake- and ofcourse, it was alive.
There won't be much use for a dead snake now, would there be?
Both, the teal and the black sword in the Slayer's hand shone in the light of the bright sun- which tortuously heated the desert like an oven.
A pulse of magical energy would flow through both thw swords, as a burst of dark-blue, ethereal light enveloped them. At the same time, the pupils of Aedre's eyes changed color- one to a raven-black and the other an incandescent cyan. The light on the swords would vanish in a heartbeat, the wielder's eyes- still the same.
In the matter of a split second, Aedre was no longer in her previous position; it was almost as if she simply vaporized into dust. But, surely it wasn't the truth.
If Janna, or any onlooker would take notice, the white-haired woman had appeared right behind the Chimera. She had heard, Janna's suggestion and was ready to put her faith into her subordinate's knowledge.
So, as the creature's lion head was still busy looking at Janna, the snake on its tail hissed at Aedre- nearly biting her in the process of its attempt to attack her.
"Say goodbye to that fancy tail~"
Apparently, the snake and the lion shared the same brain, for the beast was about to turn around. But, at that very moment, Elucidator's blade cut off the snake-head tail with just backhand slash from Aedre; causing it fall on the ground and writhe, while the lion nearly roared in its pain and agony.
The creature has turned around completely by now and lunged at Aedre's position... or well, her previous position. The woman was now, right next to where Janna was standing.
"Which part do you suggest for butchering next?"

Janna growled at the creature. It growled at her in return too. She crocuhed, ready to leap at the creature, in a cat-like position, just like before a few minutes. She watched Aedre cut it's tail off. The creature yelled in pain, and threw itself at Janna. She managed to move away before it hitting her with its sharp lion fangs. Janna noticed that her armor dissapeared, leaving her in her usual clothes, and the Requip Mage leaped backwards, summoning the Black Gryphon Armor with ease. The two black wings that the armor included rose, as she was about to fly up, but the chimera caught her leg with the goat head. Janna let out a painful growl and took her claws up, as she had dropped her sword, scratching the goat's eyes out. The creature dropped her, screaming in agony. She recovered from the fall with ease, and recovered her weapon, taking it up with her hand. Her black claws were stained in blood and other materials that she was too disgusted to recognise, and she cleaned it from the creature's paw, causing it to roar as it was terribly pissed already.

The chimera leaped towards her and attempted to kill her, but Janna immediately activated her flight ability and flew up in the air, away from the Chimera, and then, at high speed, she approached it and passed her sword through the goat head. The black goat head fell to the ground, in a pool of blood, and the Chimera bended down for a second, really, really agonized. '' That was for your stupid attempt to eat me.'' She muttered through her helmet, her voice a bit distorsioned by the metallic surface it passed through.

But then, something strange happened. The creature turned away from Janna and Aedre, as if it had suddenly lost all interest in attacking them, or it prefered keeping its life, and began running away. Janna looked at the Chimera, and, with a growl, took a decision. '' Come on, Aedre! Let's follow this thing, it might lead us to the client's crew, treasure, whatever!'' She yelled. Turning around, she extended her black wings again and began flying after the Chimera, quite worried about the sandstorm that was generating around. She couldn't see a thing, but thankfully, her armor protected her from anything bad. Although, she didn't know if she was going to be able to continue flying with the strong wind that was rising. With a sigh, she put all her force and effort into her wings, getting progressively tired as time went by, and she continued flying against the wind, not seeing a thing, but still trying to follow the chimera. She wasn't going to let it go as easily, no creature was going to escape hers and Aedre's grip alive.

That was the only thing she knew by then, and sinceerely, she didn't care about anything else by that point.

Apparently, the creature considered Aedre a bit too much trouble to handle, as it threw itself at Janna instead. In all its rage and fury, it was only more deadly to deal with. The white-haired woman would've been expected to help her subordinate fight the Chimera at this moment; but, as always, a certain quirk in her personality would come into play here.
Due to the removal of its rather useful tail, the Chimera was not as life-threatening like before, so the blonde could play with it as long as she liked- albeit weakening in it in the process before eventually killing it off.
With the thought of letting Janna handle this herself- mostly so, to prove her worth and strength; the second-in-command would silently observe the battle commence.
The second Janna cut off the goat head, Aedre half-expected her to finish this battle just there and then. But, fate had other plans it seemed.
The Chimera made a sudden dive and ran off in some random direction, almost as if it was scared for its life now. No doubt, he had to be, for the Savage duo had managed to paralyze him quite badly by separating his two buddies from him.
Aedre heard Janna call out to her, suggesting that they follow it, since there was a possibility that the creature led them straight to the crew of their client or the treasure that he sought. Aedre nodded to herself, while letting Janna trail the Chimera- deciding to follow her as soon as she gave off an important instruction to William.
The carriage driver was actually having his head poking from the window-side, watching the blonde mage fly after the beast- his face holding a terrified expression.
Aedre glanced in at the client sitting inside the carriage, comfortably, his thought seemingly in his own la-la land.
"Follow us with the carriage." She ordered bluntly, as at the same time, a pair of raven-black wings would erupt from the base of her shoulder-blades, opening up in full glory. It was a small gift from Orel actually, for he had decided to bind his very soul to Aedre's; due to which she could access and use his powers for herself.

So, with a small jerk of her legs against the ground, the Slayer soared into the heated sky and took up the same direction in which Janna and their foe had left off. The midnight wings would beat on relentlessly against her sides, just like the blades of a windmill, while she caught up with with the ReQuip mage.
The carriage was following close behind, mostly so because the client would be the only one capable of identifying his crew incase, the Chimera really led them there.

Job: The Desert! (Private, Janna Hovercraft and Aedre) - Page 2 Empty Re: Job: The Desert! (Private, Janna Hovercraft and Aedre)

Post by Janneline Ariel 8th July 2014, 9:14 am

Janna continued flying, not caring about the wind, not caring about the weather problems raging around her. Slowly, progressively, the storm would stop, each time Janna could feel its power decrease. After long time of painful, hard flight, finally, Janna felt that suddenly, she could fly in a smooth, easy way, as always, without any difficulties down the road as she flew at a slow speed, which was quite enough to keep up with the Chimera. Now that the creature didn't see her and had its defenses down was the best time to attack it, destroy it, but Janna preferred arriving at its lair first, then finishing it off. Once it was at its lair, she was going to sneak at it from behind, and end its miserable life. Once and for all.

After quite an hour of flying, Janna began getting tired. She was not used in using her ability during so many time, without stopping for a second to catch her breath and take a break. It was not easy flying during 1 hour continuously, even though the wings she had were not real, but artificial. Although, despite that, she can still feel terribly tired if she flies for too many time without stopping for a second. Suddenly, she felt too tired for her own good, and her wings dissapeared. They literally desintegraded in the air. Black feathers began falling and she closed her eyes, as if she fell unconscious, and began falling towards the ground. Before she hit it, Isao caught her, and it was truly a close call, as she was just an inch away from hitting her face. She opened her eyes and placed her hands on the ground, falling on her hands, then on her butt. She took a deep breath. The over-use of energy had made her collapse and lose consciousness for a second. She noticed that her armor was fading and sighed. She guessed she did make use of a lot of her energy. So instead of summoning a specific armor, she summoned the Robe of Yuen. Anything weird or special about this armor? No. It is simply terribly elastic. Which would allow Janna a big possibility of movement. She summoned Aetherion, her most powerful weapon, although it was C Rank, like all other weapons of hers. She began running after the Chimera, despite the fact that she was so terribly tired. Too tired. She sighed as she was not used to put this much effort and power in one hour. It was really rare for her to do this, she usually ended with creatures fast and with ease. But now, she was having serious problem with this.

She suddenly noticed that the creature slowed down and stood up before a cave. A massive cave entrance. Janna heard yells from inside the cave, terrified screams, that had a surprised note in them. The crew. Janna was sure that this was the crew. She approached slowly the Chimera, Aetherion ready to strike, when she heard people pleading to be left alive. No doubt, this was the crew. So that meant that somewhere around them was the treasure. Without wasting barely a second more, she made Isao summon his Aera and he took her up, silently. Catsu released her just when she was above the head of the Chimera, rising her sword at it. The Chimera sensed her, however, and tried to get a bite of Janna, but Isao reacted quickly and took her far away from the reach of the Chimera, releasing him on her back. She sunk her sword in the Chimera's back, making the monster released an agonized scream. Janna's face lit with a smile, as she sunk Aetherion even deeper, and began running up with the sword still sunk in the Chimera-s back, cutting an opening in it. The Chimera couldn't think of agony, she was sure of that. She then took out the sword, and, while the Chimera was too busy cowering in pain, she cut its gigantic head off. With difficulties, earninng a few wounds while at it, but she managed it.

When all of it ended, she fell on the ground, and began breathing hard due to the fact that she put too much effort in this job. She closed her eyes and passed a hand through her medium-length blonde hair with white tips spread around her like a golden veil, as she closed her eyes and regained her powers slowly. She didn't need to look around to know what was happening. The noise was enough to prove to her that the people that were begging to remain alive were the client's supposed-to-be dead crew, and what they hid from the Chimera so long was the treasure. She hoped Aedre was around, and she was glad that this mission ended, because Janna certainly was.

She got up slowly, her entire body hurting. With a slow, agonized pace she walked outside of the cave, the sunlight hitting her. How many time had she been inside the cave? She did not know that. She did not care. Isao stood on her shoulder, happy that they had survived yet another job. Janna smiled at the cat, although it hurt her even smiling. But then again, she was glad too. She was glad that they were fine.

However, this was certainly not the end. Suddenly, storm clouds gathered around the sky, and it began raining suddenly. Her hair got wet quickly, she was like this. Janna rose her hand to cover her eyes as she looked at the sky to see if there was any weird annomaly going on. And then, all out of the blue, a gigantic, storm hand appeared out of the sky and caught her by the waist. She let out a surprised scream as she was dragged towards the sky, alongside Isao, and she looked at the ground, scared. Yes. For the first time in years she was sincerely scared. Terrified.

What happened next might have surprised Aedre, or might not, she might have seen it, or might have not, this didn't matter. What mattered was that a small, half-burnt paper fell near the Savage Skull mage, and remained there until it was read.

    She shall return.
